Afternoon all from overcast 33*F Southern Ohio,
I picked up 6 chicks, (the feathered ones) from Rural King. Supposed to be Plymouth Barred Rocks. They look liked barred rocks, but they may have had the tubs mislabled. We'll see. They are out in the garage with heat lamps and the tub is at 90*F, with food and water. Next 48 hours will tell how strong they are.
I'm off nights until May so I got up after a few hour nap. The kids are home now and two of their friends that stay wwith us until their dad gets off, are with them.
Kev - The leaning trees are tough to bring down safely, be careful. I just offered a prayer for the safe felling of the hanger.
Going to clean some track
May God bless you and your families
Jim

Thanks Jim, The mess has to wait till better weather. Be that frozen or dry. Right now I would destroy the yard getting there with the tractor. Besides the tractor has the plow and chains on it still. As for the hanger it may just stay up in that tree till God removes it. It is away from the trail and should not bother where it is. The leaner has got to go and is hanging by a thread on a small part of another tree. It is also close to the house on the top end of it so that is the one I got to watch. Most of all the fallen trees are Ash that died from the bug. About 30% of our woods were Ash.
Thanks Fifey. Went to bed early for a change. Left early for farms. Back before the rains came [again].
BURRRRRRRR I hear a chainsaw.
Rain suppose to be gone tomorrow.
Train Box tomorrow. Too wet to do anything else.
Later

Good evening all,
A good day. Pain One finally retired. Nice person but always talked about family troubles.....always. Watched 2 Hill Street Blues tonight. Going for 12 miles Saturday. Hopefully Lucas will bring his daughter tomorrow. Kind of nervous as she has never met us before (2 hours at 4 days old does not count) so not sure how she will react to us. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Mornin' boys. Woke this AM to a fresh blanket of Snohizo; just on the lawn and trees. I don't mind the white stuff; better than looking at grey-brown hues for months at a time.
DJSpanky - After my first heartbreak, I woke up and realized there are 3 billion lady-folks out there...
cheapclassics - Best regards on the "reunion". From another grandparent, do whatever it takes to maintain that relationship with the child.
Chief -
Morning. 45 and cloudy. Sun suppose to come out. Wifey having fits to do pine straw in front beds.
Mike Reagan did a Legacy upgrade to a N&W aux. tender I had. Now it has engine number and can be in a lashup with Y6B or Mallet. Rear coupler works and so does backup light.
Mike, good luck with that.
Spanky, good parenting job on both young men.
Later.
Good Morning,
Thought I should drop in just to say HI, not a whole lot going on here other than rain. Forecast is for rain 4 of the next 6 days. It certainly looks like what we don't get is following Rte 66, then on to PA, and the northeast.
Inlaw situation is pretty much the same, he is going in for a new pacemaker this week, the battery in his has maybe 2 months left, so they are replacing it. Kay spends almost everyday tending to their needs, and shuttling them to Dr appts.
I'm getting bored around here, so been thinking about taking a road trip May/June time frame. No telling how far or where I will go, most likely in an easterly direction.
Chris changed jobs, he is no longer at the mine. We was offered a position with the Dept of Water Resources with the state. His title is "Engineering Geologist", he has been there 4 days, and found out he will be attending a 2 day training course on "Off Road Driving". He couldn't be happier.
Couple of train shows going on this weekend, but too expensive. $10 parking/$8 entry. I don't need or want anything so will just pass.
About all I know, so you all stay healthy, and be good.
Don

Great trip to Keim Lumber in Charm, Ohio. I purchased a new LED work light, a pair of Irwin clamps and a shop vac adopter to suck dust from my miter saw. I was able to look at their vast selection of power tools. They don't sell junk. I think everyone needs one of these: workbenchOf course we bought the world famous dreamcicles and cheese at Mr. Hershberger's store. There were no goats on the roof at this time of the year. (Did you know I'm a certified Amish goat herder? It is an honor few achieve.)

Evening All,
30 with a few flurries.
Took Junior to Autorama today. We had a chance to meet his racing hero, Tony Stewart, and got a few pics and autographs. I'm happy he finally met him. Rich, there was lots of killer Mopars too!By the way, I'm enjoying your YouTube layout progress. I didn't see where the fire station is though......
Stopped at Menard's and picked up my latest allowance purchases.
Kev - Another pre-order? Look out!!
Spank - The first one is always tough. We've all been there.
Jim - I have a 16B and I was tempted to use those micro brushes you can get from Micro Mark to touch up the numbers.
I guess that's it for now.
Have a good one and prayers,
Rob
Evenin' folks from a cold and wet N Taxess...
Presently running 20+ below norms for this time of year and we start the Arctic plunge tomorrow where we will be in the 20's/30's for Mon & Tues for coldest temps this winter and a good 30 below norms. But hey, 70 by the weekend!
Son is doing well in college. Spring break for week of Mar 11th. He and I are planning to head out for the week to spend a little time hanging out.
Rob - all we got here for Autorama was a couple of obscure wrestling pros....
Regards, Roy
Today went better than expected. Visit with granddaughter went well and I did not kill her mother when she stopped to pick her up so about as good as it could be. Practice run was a little off pace but finished 12 miles in 3:18.57 for a 3.61 MPH average. Next week finally will get up to 13.1 I hope. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Snohizo along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will watch Vegas race later, in between shoveling.
dbaker - If you make it to WV, there's a guest room for you.
anjdevil - Rich, please post a link to your youtube.
Buckeye - Have I heard of it? Nah-ah-ah-ah-ah...
A cloudy 22 degrees. No snow here but its gonna stay cold all week.
A short visit with Charlie yesterday afternoon. The subject of toy trains did come up.
Good morning,
20 with snow just to the south of us. Looks like we will be missed, just fine. Will be -2 by morning so the drop is in action so don't feel to bad Roy.
The rest of the week will be 20 to 30 below normal.
No plans for today.
Fife, here is that link for Rich's layout.

Buckeye when I built the upper loop I got one of these and it came in very handy and is easy to store.

Don, we have a room as well!
Morning. 50, breezy and cloudy. Now they say only scattered showers.
Buckeye, got one simular from Harbor Freight. Actually demo so they sold it cheap. Nothing wrong with it. Use for for train repair/servicing and reloading bench. Glad I got it.
Have a great week ahead.
Morning/afternoon folks!
Cloudy, cold, but rain stopped earlier this morning. 20's tonight. 30's tomorrow.
NASCAR this afternoon. We'll see if the rest of the rules chgs to cars/etc have any real impact.
DJ - Tell Corey Happy Birthday!
Good afternoon,
Ground is good and frozen with temps in the high teens so I knocked down that leaner tree in the picture I posted with the tractor then cut it up and split it up. Boy it took a long time for the splitter to get to speed with that frozen oil in it. By the time I was done it was just getting warmed up.
Going to watch some race and then Chinese fried shrimp on rice tonight.
Afternoon all,
I didn't really want to, but Kay wanted to go to the train show in Orange County today, so I gave in and took her. She even wanted to buy breakfast on the way, so I thought she doesn't ask for a lot, and should given in since Friday is her birthday. She commented about a couple of engines she thought was really "cute", but I was able to convince her we didn't really need them. She reluctantly agreed.
Its kinda rainy and overcast, just a good day to stay inside. So watching the race from Vegas today, kind of a yawner, but Ok. Had an offer to go to Phoenix and Fontana in the coming weeks, but I prefer watching from home.
Thanks a lot for the invite guys, that is really cool! I don't know where or how far yet, still in the planning process. The thing I like least is the fact that have to go about 400-450 miles before it becomes interesting. That's one of the bad things about living here. Just alot of desolation before you get anywhere.
Not much planned for this week, need to check out the down spouts, one isn't working just right. Think some leaves or something is stuck in it. S'pose to be a sunny day tomorrow, then more rain on Tues, so will check it out.
Thanks again for the offers, if I get close would definetly call and stop in for a cup of coffee or something.
Take care all, hope you all arn't getting hit too hard by this "Atmospheric River", (aka "Pineapple Express")
Don, you're always welcome here! Ya gots my numba! But there is also a lotta desolation between the Dallas area and Raton NM
Don, My wife's birthday is next Saturday, the 9th! She helped me down, cut and split a leaner tree today. She is the best!! Sometimes I tell her, NO but she always offers to help and I think she likes the work? Looks bad for the guys in PA the next few days as far as weather. There is no ride worse than from the top of IL to the bottom. Just flat and corn,,,,
Some snow today. Watched Liverpool tie Everton 0-0. Went to Mass as well. Told the priest not to worry about church collapsing because I was there on Sunday. Not much else going on. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hello there,
just haven't taken the time to post for a couple of days. Got our York badges in the mail yesterday.
Rich ......... the layout is lookn good.
The snowmaggeden predicted for today turned out to be 5 inches if it doesn't start snohioing again.
Spent several hours yesterday and today working on bathroom demo at the townhouse. The only ceramic tile left is behind the sink, toilet and radiator. Get them out probably Tuesday. Once they are out of the way I'll have room to get the tub out.
Got a Skin Doc appointment tomorrow and the Tahoe ECM is out for delivery tomorrow.
Spent last evening with the oldest grandkids.
Best try to sleep.
Prayers for those in need

Morning all.
More snow and colder temps. Spent the day Sunday upgrading the older scale J to 4 chuffs perrevolution using John Will's Chuff generator board. Nice product!
Take care all.

Good morning from cold Ohio!
Kevin and Chief....Thanks. I think I need an upgrade. My workmate is only 40 years old. I need to still find the pegs.
Don...I will let you find your own way to Deer Ridge Junction in Rocky Mountain National Park where US 36 starts. From there drive east 1381 miles until you see me standing by the road near the Shell Station. I'm standing there now and its cold. How much longer until you show up?
Hey, Good Morning!!!
Kev - Thanks for giving Fife my YouTube address...more progress this weekend, Need to add some power drops to the far reaches of the layout, I believe I have the wiring, so I'll check this over the week or get more wires.....
Rob - I can't find that BIG box with my MTH firehouse....I've been throwing boxes out left and right, making the storage a lot better, but just can't find THAT box.
I did put something very cool on the layout over the mountains....hope you guys can catch that.....
Had 4" of snow and slush, dug out the cars this morning and headed to South Jersey where there was almost....nothing. And the Sun is out as well.
Setting up a benefit train show and sale in early November, need to meet with John of the Independant Hi Railers in Edison on Saturday.
Getting busy, so will check back later
