Raining on it and melting it now.

Afternoon all!
56 and sunny. Yard is a soggy mess after 2 days of constant rain. Some freezes coming this week. We have been running 5-10 degrees below normal and lotsa rain this fall.
Chuck (Blueberry Hill) would be pleased with the snow canon results in Rosyville NC!
Got the walls of the room (and closet) affected by the water leak repainted yesterday with my son's help. Fabricated an access door to the piping behind the water heater closet. Makes it easy to inspect the repaired area. Access door is in the closet. On to repainting the baseboard trim, window sills, and doors/trim and this room rebuild will finally be completed. Hoping that happens by the end of this week. The doors (2 closet and door to room) will have to be completely stripped or sanded. Daughter did a real number on them.
Regards, Roy
Sun but 19 degrees.
No snow expected but Da Chief snow will be gone in 2 days around here it would lay on the ground for weeks. yuck.

No real plans for today. Probably get some more stuff together we want to take to the new house. ( needed items so we can move in this week. to a point)
Hope all have a good day. Talk ot you all later

Staying in. Enjoying the scene.
Good evening all,
Quiet day at work Friday. Sunny weather for walk. Went to see Creed II Friday night. Excellent movie. Well done. One of the better ones in the Rocky series. Watched Blue Bloods as well. Good fall finale. Went to historical society for open house today. Very nicely done. Went to Mass as well and then to Frisch's Big Boy afterward. They have completely remodeled the place. Looks nice. They were busy but the service was good and so was the food. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning. 44 chilly degrees. In for some messy weather. West of us in for biggie they guess.
Cleaning out DVR by catching up on my DVR'd shows.
Hunt was Ok but not as good as usual. No shooters.
Later
Morning team!
42 and still raining. Rain to move out around 5 pm.
Rob - ah yep, my son and one of his buddies years ago decided to use his closet door as the target for a knife throwing contest. Imagine what that was like....
RT - congrats on finally nailing the new house deal!
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to paint I go.....
Okay this is a test, I thought I was posting under this name a while ago but I believe it went under my account I have but normally don't use. anyway I got where the monitors had to clear it, funny didn't the other day when I posted under it.
Anyway I now own two houses, hope to move in what we really need this coming week.
Morning All!
Looks to be sunny and mid 20's today. We'll see........
Not much on the go today. I think the Mrs. and I are going out for breakfast and a "little" Christmas shopping this morning. Just waiting for my marching orders.
We celebrated my youngest daughter's on Thursday with a steak BBQ. Watched the coverage of the Bush funeral train. That is one sharp locomotive. I'm sure Lionel and MTH will capitalize with some re-issues.....
Kev (and others) - Yeah I know self checkouts are a love 'em or hate 'em thing. I will say though after working a lot of years in retail, there is still only so many labor hours scheduled at any one time, based on historical sales volume data. (Yes, it's far from perfect!) No one is out of a job. The same number of cashiers would be likely scheduled, self checkouts or not. It just gives impatient folks like me another option!! It's no different than using a bank machine vs. standing in line.
Brent - I will second Zinsser or Kilz. Great primers and sealers!
Roy - Yes, I know all too well about those tiny wall holes.... ugh. What was worse though was when Jr. had the brainiac idea to put the family dart board in his room!!
Have a good one and prayers.
Rob
Evening,
Rained last night, rained all day, raining now, and supposed to stop tomorrow morning. Colder temps on the way - 40's high...
Pearl Harbor remembrance - important. I have visited the Arizona memorial and NPS visitor center. Sobering. Also watched a lot of the Geo H W Bush memorials and the trip to College Station.
Spent the day painting, painting, ugh, painting the room (changing the color my daughter painted it, blue, so lotsa primer) affected by the plumbing issue...only about 1/2 done.
Brent,,,,, looks like you can get it there to. Up to you bet they both will do it.

Afternoon FellasBanks - That thing is taller than you! Dang near taller than me!Kev - Thanks for all the recommendations! I would have to have the Zinsser product delivered, so probably going with the Behr product from Home Depot. There isn't a Menards within 500 miles of here! Closest to here is in NE OH, going there would be a whole day lost on the project.Fireplace is going through some serious wood! Probably need to get the short logs I cut a couple years ago split this weekend. Should be 'dry' as it has been sitting outside since I dropped the tree and cut it into 18 inch logs, then stacked. Hope to split and stack under the screened porch to finish the drying over the next month or so.

Headed east. Back tonight.
Hello there,
never forget Pearl Harbor Day. I was pleasantly surprised the local TV station did a nice piece on it this AM.
Roy.....it has some led's on the front. The are bright and distracting to me. Looks better without them.
Best get on with the day.
Prayers for those in need

Quiet day at work again. Do not mind. Quiet night at home as well. Weather was lousy for walk today. Saw the bling and the shirt for 2019 Mini. Very very cool. Medal is etched on both sides this time. Only second time. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening folks!
Raining and 50. Rain to continue into Sat. 50's and 40's for the next week or so.
Banks - that's some prize and it looks like it lights up!?
Kev - bummer about the pine tree. At least it has a chance. At my first house in 1982 I had a sapling I planted in front of the house on the strip between the sidewalk and street. Nurtured it for years. Around 1987 when it was about 4" in dia we came home one night to find a car on top of it and the tree ripped out of the ground. The front end of the car (think it was a Mazda RX7) had this 4" wide channel/divit into the nose about 18" in. The driver to say the least was 'dazed'.
lion88roar Kev - thanks for the link! That stuff sounds like it will do the job as well as the stuff I was going to buy from HomeDepot. The 20 minute work time beats the 2 - 3 minute work time of the stuff my Dad used, so hopefully will make the job a lot faster. Now just have to work out the timing with The VPQ. Was thinking it would take my Dad and I 3 days to do this project, with the longer work time and shorter drying time we may be able to knock it out in 2 (fingers crossed), Mom even offered to come help paint once the cracks are filled.Back to work!

Brent, to finish off the job.
I don't know where you can find this, I get it at Menards but it works great on damp basement walls as a paint & sealer.
Have it on the layout wals and have never seen any water come through.

Banks, I know a lot of people that need to be taken out of the gene pool.
One of the loose Bucks running around here took out my favorite pine that we planted as a sapling we got from my friend Mark about 8 or 9 years ago. It was getting real nice and taking hold. This Buck's RUB set it back at least 5 years.
This guy needs to be removed from the gene pool as well.
been going 6 different directions. Appointments, hunting etc. The highlights
lost the brakes on the 04 Blazer on the way home from hunting Saturday. Got a bit interesting since the emergency brake didn't help much. Called AAA for a tow. Need to look at it. I think it blew a brake line.
Still no serious lookers on the 00. Dropped the starting price a bit.
Son got a nice size buck with small 6 point rack last Wednesday.
Been seeing a lot of big deer with scrawny racks. I think they need to be removed from the gene pool.
Been working off and on putting up outside decorations as weather permits. Friend from church coming Saturday to help do the big tree. That will finish outside.
Sunday was the Christmas party for the sister companies that I worked for. As a retiree I was invited and won the door prise .
The dang thing is 6 feet tall.
RE self checkouts. If they want my money they best have someone there to take it. I've gotten some strange looks when a store emplyee sugested I move to one. I was amazed last week at the local Wallyworld there was a long line at self checkout while there were several cashiers with no one at their station It last weeks urologist appointment it was recommended I have roto rooter through my prostate. Drugs are not helping and it's only going to get worse. Scheduled for 12/27 so Mrs won't have to use sick days.
Best get back to it
Prayers for those inneed.
Good Morning! Its been a really long time since I've posted! Been super busy! Been working on train layouts for the Nixon Presidential Library. What started out as wiring a 12x24x10' layout, consisting of 2 G-Scale, 3 O-Scale, and 1 HO scale tracks. Got that completed, then 3 more layouts were brought in! So they are NOW all set up and running! They seem to be really pleased. I know I enjoy watching all the kids come in and admire, some have never seen anything like it. As a matter of fact tomorrow morning a local TV station (CH 5) is doing a promo at the library featuring all the trains. I will try and get some pictures posted soon.
Now I have about 14 engines I have to do service and routine maintenance on, so that will take a little time. (Boy, these engines sure take a beating! I try to get the Docents to change them out daily, but that doesn't always happen.)
Beyond, that I needed to make a couple of trips to Vegas and back, helping Chris move stuff to his "new" temporary home. He drove his FJ pulling a trailer, I drove his car. Then when we unloaded I brought the FJ & trailer back, and he had his car there. On my way back this past Monday, I get a text from him, he was contacted for an interview for a major utility here in So. Cal.. This could be a major life changing event for him. So we will see.
Have gotten our outside decorations up, Kay is going to do the tree today.
Situation is about the same with her parents, her Dad still in the rehabilitation hospital, Mother at home. Kay shuttles them to Dr's as required, as well as daily visitiations to rehab facility.
Need to get busy, congrats to everyone for what I've missed, and prayers for those in need!
Don
Mornin' FellasVery productive morning! Got a major project completed for work, brought wood in from the pile (5th load since yesterday, insert has been going through wood to keep the heat pump from jacking the electric bill!), now to make some calls...Kev - thanks for the link! That stuff sounds like it will do the job as well as the stuff I was going to buy from HomeDepot. Overcast as usual. Low 30s for the day.
Our local Walmart is the same 25 cashout registers and 2 cashiers. Another local store likewise the same. A really nice store until it's time to leave....thumbs down
Employee luncheon and then go south to babysit Grands.
50's today. Looks like rain tomorrow afternoon.
Making progress on the room. Sanded baseboards, puttied up all the holes from thumbtacks (daughters room, ya know what I mean), stripped all the outlet covers and ceiling fan, painted the ceiling, and started all the edge painting with Kilz2. Room was blue and returning it to a beige color like most of the house.
DougM - access is via the walls. Will not break into the slab again. Only did that until we realized pipe had failed. So next time will just reroute with pex through the attic (hopefully no next time).
Chief - Kev is right, excavating even a crawl space is a problem here. But running pipe through slab is just stupid. Our slab house in Houston had pipe in the ceiling &I walls. Leaks showed up real quick so minor damage.
Very quiet day at work. Bad wrecks that I missed on the way to work. I took it slow. Short walk at noon. Christmas cards are all addressed for friends and family. Not sure if I will do any for work. I hope everyone has a good day.
robmcc MikeC - That's why I love self-checkouts. Usually can through faster than the cashiers anyways!! Rob

Evening All!
28 with flurries coming.
Wow! Wet floors seems to be the theme this week! I have the air dryer going too as there seems to be a "damp" spot in the basement, on the carpet of course. Ugh...
I watched a bit of President Bush's funeral on my lunch break. The media is certainly running with the "snubbing" incident.
Buckeye - Nice story. Like the engineers outfit! I submitted one too a while back, but didn't make the cut.
RT - Fingers crossed on the house. You need to get that dealt with so you can get that train room going for all of your new Lionchief+ trains!!! ( A little forum cross-over humor for ya!)
No snow to speak of here DougM.
Brent, This stuff works great on leaks in the basement walls. When they did my basement it was "Guaranteed" not to leak,,Yeah,,,RIGHT!! So anyway when it did leak they used this stuff on the cracks and where the form supports came through. Worked great. I have used it since on other areas where there was seepage with good results.. Big thing is be sure the downspout water gets well away from the foundation and no rain water runs to the house.

Chief, in north Tx. you can’t have basements because of the type of soil from what my friends down there tell me. All of there places are on slabs. The soil shifts too much.
Rusty Ranger is done, (ball joints and tie rods) but still waiting on the new shocks to arrive.
Afternoon FellasRoy - not a new problem. The leak has been there since I bought the place in 1997. It never bothered me to the point of addressing it (a few contractors wanted over 10K). The realtor I am working with told me not to worry about it unless it came up as a reason for people not buying. The house has been on the market for 45 days and she just now mentioned that I should consider addressing it... Hoping it can get fixed with a few days work. If not it will be difficult to work on during the winter with travel being questionable through the Appalachian and Allegheny Mountains.
Had off and on snow flurries at 48 degrees. Mixed with sun. Trying to have a day off but not being succesful.
Roy, you are our poster child for no slab floors in R'ville.
Later.
