The first snow of the year is always full of wonderment.  It goes to he!! from there..
Gator is in chains and the plow is on the tractor. Let it rip. About 6" so far. Heavy and wet.

Evening all!

53, cloudy, some most, and gloomy here. To continue into tomorrow. Got about 1/2 in of rain yesterday.

Had a nice evening with friends last night.

Kev - you look ready to do battle. Good thing you are somewhat healed up.

Watching some football. Enjoyed the Packers/Texans game. I think all football games should be played in the snow/outdoors. We (C'Boys) need the Steelers to win over the Giants.

Kev it's about 50 miles west(snow) and rain coming up from Toledo so we will see what the morning has for us. It's still dry here.

Happy Sunday....

Got the Christmas stuff down from the attic for Mom and Dad and started getting
the Christmas stuff at the other house.
Dad got the fake tree up and the kids and I got a live tree from the firehouse for $50.
Joey (the boyfriend) helped out we picked it out and paid for it, cut the trunk
tossed it up on the roof of the Acura an I held it down with the sunroof open.
It made it...the Princess drove...it was only a half a mile...

The Christmas layout at the firehouse on Thanksgiving Friday was a success, it's
still up for the time being, I was asked to bring it up in the hall for
Breakfast with Santa next Sunday, but I'd have to dismantle it ans the put it back together.
If I wasn't working 2 jobs, I'd probably do it, but, I'm just beat.

Was supposed to do the LHS tour of Jersey with one of my fire buddies (he a train nut as well), until the rear brakes wore out, on the Acura, so we did Lionel Train Day and our local, where I traded my UP 9100 diesel, a Pavonia passenger Conrail safety award car(it was a duplicate) and my scale 80' PRR Williams Crown 4 car passenger set for a semi scale Lionel Powhaten Arrow set to go with my TMCC J class.

I have a partial PRR set, I just need to take inventory and fill in the missing cars.

Trying to sell off some other inventory on Facebook and Craigslist and no takers....

Was at a viewing for one of my friends Mom on Thursday, so very sad...all of our
group had all the Moms looking over them...My Mom and another friends Mom are still hanging in there.

Bob - sorry about your friend....

OK boys, gonna finish up laundry and hit the mattress...another long week looms ahead.

Prayers for all in need.....

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Good evening all,

Wet and miserable here.  Did 8 miles in 2:07:33 or 3.76 MPH.  Wanted to do 13.1 tonight but just ran out of steam.  Did the first four miles in less than 60 minutes, but just got slower and slower.  Decided it was not worth effort struggling for another 5 miles.  Did get upstairs Christmas tree working and helped wife some with her efforts.  Dental check up tomorrow.  Maybe get main tree up as well and work on Christmas cards.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from a cloudy 42°F Southern Ohio,

The weekend flew by.  Friday I got the phone line in for my mother in law’s heart monitor, some decorating inside and outside, working with the kids on their science fair projects and Masses were on the west side of the county this weekend so more time in the car.  The “theme” of the science fair projects seemed to be chemical reactions.  My bride oversaw the chemical reaction in making marshmallows and mashed potatoes, (Alton Brown would be proud) and Gabriel took instant ice packs apart and measured the endothermic reaction with different amounts of ammonium nitrate from the cold packs.

Basketball game after work then maybe a couple strings of light outside tonight after the game.

I won an American Flyer All Aboard scenic panel on the ‘Bay.  Now find / buy a crossover panel and I’ll have the base for a display I want to build.

Rich – May God have mercy on your friend’s mom’s soul.  My bride’s mom is still alive at 87 but we’ve seen a big change in the past year.  Like they say we are born to die, then the real fun starts.

Kev – You must be feeling a lot better!  It’s been a rough year and you’ve came through it.

Bob – May God have mercy on Ron’s soul.  Gotta love the Marx 1666!

May God bless

Jim

Aloha. Grey but not too cold. Yesterday's 6.1 inches of snow was the largest 'first-snow-one-day' total here since records started being kept in the 1800s. Who knew? But the Bears won - it was fun watching them play in the snow. That win probably dilutes their chances of drafting a decent QB. Oh well. Looks like a quiet day here.

Just checking in

Cloudy and 40s today. No snow, our area stayed just warm enough to get lite rain instead. Christmas tree and decorations are up. I stay out of the way unless called upon. It took me years to get granny to let be buy a tree with hindged branches, should have done it years ago without her permission. Pull the box out of the closet, put 3 sectoins together and it's done. 15 minutes.

Good morning all,

Vistors will meet me to see Helen today.

Dentist Appointment tomorrow for me.

Dermatologist for Helen on Wednesday.

Week is shaping up with lots of to do things.

That was a neat train layout to watch.  Thanks for posting.

Went to Dixieland Jazz club Christmas Party yesterday.  Good music, good friends, good food.  Got a bad leg cramp for sitting too long though without moving.  Walked it off.  Felt like a charlie horse.  Sister thinks I don't drink enough water.

Kevin Christmas is the one day a year I would love to see snow. Other than that you can have it and keep it. Big Smile

Evening all. Not a big day. Went to the V.A. Clinic in Aiken, S.C. to have my finger pricked so they can check my cummin(sp) level. After that was Walley world for a tree and a few other items.

Not much else going on, no train news to speak of. Hope all had a good day. talk to you all later.

Mornin' Fellas

Other than our typical annual last minute rush to decorate for Christmas, we got the family tree decorated last night, still have two bins of nick nacks to put out, nothing much is going on around Central MD these days. Tonight TheQ has her transition dinner meeting for ASQ (she is going to be the section president next year), tomorrow is Christina's Daisy Troop Meeting, then Thursday is TheQ's sorority alumni meeting, then we have some down time. We need it. Smile Thinking about taking the family to the inner harbor on Saturday as they have a German Christmas Village setup. Next Friday is TheQ's company's Christmas Party. Maybe next Saturday we'll do Hershey Park in the evening for their Christmas Spectacular.

Hmmm... after reading that we do have quite a bit going on... starting to feel like The Chief! LOL!

Aloha. Grey and warmish (30s). I had fun browsing the local German Christmas market in the middle of downtown during lunch yesterday. I will be listening to Frank Sinatra singing Christmas carols all day today. Only 4-5 inches by us, after snowing all Sunday, Kev. Go figure, Dekalb and Elburn got 9 inches! Melted all on the roads by yesterday morn.

SJ, I would love a tree like that! Our artificial tree is 16  years old and we have to slot every branch into the two piece trunk. It take two 55 gallon tubs to store...

Dennis, the bride is a nurse and she says you should tell your doc if that dizziness continues today.

Doug that's the kind of tree we had for oh so many years. Stored it above the garage, handed up piece by piece. So glad it's gone. Granny was satisfied after her neice said she would take it.

Rain expected today, Hi of 41.

Doug & SJ Last year wife had me buy this 7' artificial tree and guess what this year she wants a real tree. Bang Head Think we spent like $175 last year for a forever tree. It looks great but we really don't have room space wise . Height we have 9' ceilings so no problem there. I do like the smell of this tree and all but I'm just wondering why we had to buy that tree last year. Angry

Good Morning,

Did a post last night, but I think I fell asleep at the keyboard, oh well.

Had a good weekend, continuing on with my tape identification project, lots of interesting stuff some quite comical.  Got the family room tree up, village at the base with a Polar Express and Santa/Elf hand car.  Looks good.

Really sad about the warehouse fire in Alameda, 36 killed, and 50 still missing, unbelievable.  Warehouse manager is in deep trouble I think! Rightly so.

Went to Arcadia train meet on Sunday, usual stuff, didn't buy anything, but enjoyed walking through and see a few people.  Didn't see Ray, but Larry was there.

Rumor has it that LA has a football team for sale, anyone know of anyone with any interest?

Hopefully going to spend the day in the train room, have a very LONG list of things to do.  Kay has identified some Christmas decorations she no longer needs, so think they will end up in the train room.

We got a very small 3 section 6' tree last year. Fits in the corner of the room nice and is plenty big for the two of us. I just cover it with a 55-gallon trash bag and set it in the basement till needed.
We let the kids get the big trees and have them at their places.
Last day above freezing will be today for a spell.

Hello all

Had trouble sleeping today. Finally got up and watched a movie. Relieved my co-worker a bit early since he covered for me last we after my friend Ron died.

When people find out where I work, a lot of them say it must be nice to see the snow. For the first few years maybe, but I had plenty of it when I worked in the mines and lived in Nevada. Now it's just part of the job.

Will head back to town tomorrow afternoon. Thursday I have to make a push to finish up the Datsun. Gene has also invited me to sit in on the board meeting for the museum.

Good evening all,

Long day at work.  Meetings and other issues were really draining.  Wife was really sick tonight.  I did what I could to take care of her.  If she is not better tomorrow, may stay home.  Everybody else takes off for hangnails and other BS, I may take a day as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Well a very interesting day to say the least. Got a brain storm and took tree and stand back to Wal-Mart where I got it. Figured they would refund on the stand but because I didn't have the receipt they would say they can't, Not the case they refund for both but put it on a gift card which was fine with me, we used it for other items and when all was said and done today's shopping trip at Wal-Mart cost me a Big $0.18 lol because of returning the tree and stand.

I need to correct a statement from yesterday as we have 10' ceilings and a 9' tree. This is a house from 1940. So it has tall ceilings. The tree looks great where it is. no bulbs on it yet but the cat has already been to the top of it lol. So this is one cat that's going to be a climber. But that's okay we have some nice and shinny plastic bulbs from Wal-Mart last year when we bought this tree. Will get some pics once put together if I can keep it together with this cat. We have had many cats over the years and never had one climb a Christmas tree until this one.

Talk to you later.

RT, here is a thought, we had a neighbor once that had a J hook screwed into the ceiling stud above the tree center and hooked a line to the top of the tree so it would not fall down when his cats ran all over it. It worked good. maybe something to try.

Seems all others are someplace else. Huh?

Don, I was at a Dixieland Jazz Club Christmas Party Sunday afternoon.  Unfortunate that both were on the same day.

My dentist appointment on Tuesday for a cleaning turned up a cavity to be filled after Christmas.

Took Helen to dermatologist today to get stiches out of her wound for wart removal.  No cancer and all went well.

Went out to eat tonight with Larry's senior group in Claremont.  Had steak and potato with soup and salad  and desert for $10 at Norm's.  Very good.   Seniors get a 20% discount on Wednesday.  Got another Senior dinner next week and a holiday lunch at Helen's facility on the 17th.  I have been having computer trouble today. Not able to get a connection on the internet.  Tried different things and finally disconected the router and reconnected and was able to get on this site at least.  Still having trouble with E mail and Facebook.  My son will be over Saturday and help me figure it out.  Don, your tree looks good.  I have not put up anything yet here.  There is no one here to share it with.  Even my next door neighbor is keeping a low profile.  I think there might be a separation or divorce going on over there.  Wife and kids are gone and Dad is throwing out things that belonged to the kids.  I hope I'm wrong.  People here are anonomous.  Never know what's going on.  Anyway, hope all you guys are enjoying the holiday season.  I like the Christmas music on the radio.
