Good evening all,
A so-so day at work turned a bittersweet surprise tonight. We won our first tourney game by forfeit as only 3 of the other team showed up. Had to miss the last junior high game....not too sure it was worth the trip. We play again on Monday for a trip to the finals. Weather was nice today. Supposed to be junky weather Wednesday. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Like Doug said,, What a beauty of a cool sunny day!
Worked on the trails for the first time since I screwed up my back in July. They were bad and some I could not get the Gator down, Took it easy and only did about half of them today and will see how I feel before I do the rest. I also cleared the trail to the deer stand. Need to start feeding soon. it was a great day to be in the woods, cool, nice breeze, no bugs or sweat. Can't beat that. Deer season starts on Saturday for Bow.
Banks, the corn & bean crop here is great, price, not so much. BTW nice haul on the bay. Since wife retired my train budget is in the hole.
Got the new CTT mag today. At least it had over 70 pages this month. I don't have any MTH motive power. Maybe I should look at it?
Ordered one of the Warehouse find! CTT anniversary trucks. Even tho it made me think of Walter and RMTs Warehouse finds. Still not bad for the money.

Guten abend,
The weather couldn't be any nicer. A sunny day with the high topping out at 71 and it looks like the same outlook for the next few days. I don't have much else to report, just another day at work and at home. I hope everyone has a great day.
Joe
John……Sounds like a nice truck. What engine? My 1st car was a 65 GMC Stepside. It had a 300 6 with three on the tree. Dad bought it new. In 73. It became mine after he bought a new 74 Dodge. My buddy’s Dad taught me body work as it got new cab corners, rocker panels lower front fenders and rear fenders rebuilt. Then a friend painted it at Vo-Tech for me. Sold it a year later and bought my “70 ElCamino (still have it)
Best get moving
Prayers for those in need

Aloha. What a beauty of a cool sunny day! Had a good review by my boss yesterday - no extra $ though. Glad she's happy w me. Watched the Cubs and MNF instead of the debate. Looks like a busy day today. Joe, That sounds like a great pick-up!

Quiet day at work. Good, cooler weather for walk. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good evening,
A busy, busy Monday here. The workday was non-stop and so was the evening as the older son had to be at soccer practice and the princess had to be at dance class. The wife made homemade apple sausage patties and pumpkin pancakes for dinner - it was delicious. I am whooped and ready for bed now.
Doug M. - A few months ago I grabbed one of the newer Star Wars issues for the youngest; it was neat. I am really impressed with all the titles as their storylines are captivating and the artwork is amazing. I just ordered Silver Surfer Vol.3 #1 (1980s) today; it has a Fine grade. I already had issues #2 and #3 from that series. If I like #1 I may try to complete that volume. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the current volume.
Good night,
Good Morning All !
Been an in-frequent visitor for awhile, reading but to pooped to post. Yesterday was my veg day after Fri & Sat at the museum. After seeing the news/weather for the first time in days sent an e-mail to Jon in Iowa. He said he is well out of the flood areas, and his eldest son and family are in Cedar Falls. Fortunately they are on high ground and should not be hurt, property wise, from the flooding.
Today we are getting the weather tri-fecta : high wind warning/ heat advisory / red flag warning. In other words if somebody does something stupid around any combustibles, LOOK OUT !
Have started work on the halloween layout. One of my Lemax buildings, the Haunted Windmill, is totally dead. At least last year the sounds and lights worked even if the animation didn't. As the animated ones start crapping out I don't think I will replace them, just go with the ones that have light & sound. Getting cheap in my old age.
Monday the third will be museum work day, halloween decorations.
RT, sounds as if things are going extremely well and only better when you get to make a break from the joint. Just be patient with the recovery process, remember : it's a marathon not a sprint. Continued prayers.
Well, time to get off my duff and get something done(?) maybe.
Later !

Aloha. Beautiful fall morning in downtown Chicago. Even though ND got spanked, I had a nice day in South Bend with my brother. And the Bears are awful too. It will be a long season... Joe, that sounds like a great subscription. I've read Silver Surfer, Spidey and Cap and am picking up a few of the new Star Wars series.
Mornin' boys. Overcast and 61 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Ok weekend for sports here. Something (probably a heron) apparently smacked the top of the yatchett's mast, as the navigation light was all catawhampus.
Plumber coming today to fix some issues.
Will make last runs on the layout as well, when grandson arrives.
Morning all!
OK. It is 63 and raining this morning. High today maybe 72! Then 80's and sunny for the rest of the week and the opening of the State Fair of Texas this coming weekend.
RT - hope you make your Great Escape today!
Regards, Roy
Morning all. Awake and ready lol. Hope all have a good day. I'm hoping for one myself. It's now hurry up and wait. I know why did I get up so early. Simple I can stand like 2 hours at a time in that bed.
Talk to you all later, hopefully from home

Watched 260 minutes of soccer this weekend. Saw one goal by the team I was cheering. There must be a lesson somewhere. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning gang,
Raining here. Temps down a bit and waitin on the cold front. Bring it!
Kev - yep, HS class of '70. Interesting times.
My Alma Mater Texas A&M held on in first half and then took it to Arkansas last night. I think the pundits are a little premature that A&M can challenge Alabama again this year, but time will tell as they say. T Knight looks to be a great Q'back regardless. However, Allen of Ark is one tough guy. He took a severe beating last night and still kept his passes on mark.
NASCAR and Cowboys today.
Good morning all,
Managed to stay in one bed all night but slept bad. Still the right arm.
Chief, I could not blame her if she did the way I have been flopping around in bed these last few months.
Ran trains last night before bed , helped me to mellow out some.
Good morning,
It is Sunday morning here and we should be in store for another beautiful day. We have had a streak of sunny days with temps in the upper 60s and that is amazing. The older son's soccer team lost yesterday and it was not pretty. His team is all American military kids who play in a German league. The German kids have been playing together since they were four so it makes sense that his team will struggle. I watched the first 19 minutes of the PSU-Michigan game last night, but I saw enough to know PSU was going to lose. We have church today and then an afternoon of relaxing.
Doug M. - I started reading some of the DC Rebirth titles: Superman; Batman; Flash; Green Arrow; Justice League; Suicide Squad; and Aquaman. On the Marvel side I read Silver Surfer, Captain America: Steve Rogers, and Spidey. My older son reads The Black Panther and Green Arrow. The younger son likes Captain America and Spidey. I forgot how much I enjoy reading comic books and look forward to my monthly subscriptions arrival. ND is not looking good this year.
Don B. - Congratulations to Kay! I'm sure that will be a neat experience.
Thanks Chief. It's hard to believe I have been in 22 years now.
Good day,
Goodnight all. Read back some.
Ray, prayers always for you. You have a big responsibility.
Fifey, hope I don't have to move. Wifey now says, "If you don't need it or like it, throw it away."
KEV, read where you took something that knocked you out so you could sleep. Are you sure Wifey didn't hit you with a brick?
Don, we are supposed to be retired. Stange. We work more now.
Brent, best to the kids and Susie.
Joe, salute you for your service to us.
RT, know you want to go home. Longer you stay, the better it will be when you get home. Need me to drive down and take you home? Dr. made me wait a longer time before he said I could drive. Made me mad. First time I drove. Went to Mom's [50 miles one way]. Mistake. Got home with sore chest.
All have a good one.

Up and down day. Watched 160 minutes of high school soccer with the cow bell remaining silent the entire time. Girls lost 9-0 and the boys 8-0. Got a text from daughter stating both of grandkids teams won. Did 5.7 miles in 90 minutes tonight for a 3.8 pace and felt like I could still do more. Came home and watched Indy 11 win 3-0. I hope everyone has a good day.
SPMan Don, good for you making a little extra dough and making someone happy at the same time with those N gauge switch wirings. I had a fun morning since it stayed cool in the garage for a while. I ran trains and listned to Dixieland Jazz for two hours before it got too warm in there. All the trains performed beautifully. Just changed the batteries in my DCS controller. Running all my scale pullmans now behind my Santa Fe 4-8-4. Ran my N&W 1218 2-6-6-4 a lot also. Ran a few diesels too. Some of the powered accessories on the layout need a little TLC when I get time. Crossing flashers have decided to take the day off. later, Ray

Ray, good to hear you got some train time in. Sounds like you have a great layout.
Roy, 46 years, are you class of 70?? I am. It was a scary time to be getting out of school with everything goining on then.
Weather is going to take a fall tomorrow, big time.
SPMan
Morning all,
Ray - you are well ahead of me. I just passed 46 years since HS grad. I cannot keep up with all this stuff. My old HS started a group online and after starting to answer 64 questions on a poorly set up web site. I gave up. My university has a better setup but like your Portsmouth deal, there were so many people there, of the ones that communicate I know none of them.
RT - that stinks. Prayers this resolves quickly next week so you can go home!
Don - that's cool about Kay! I still have my '84 El Camino but it is in really bad shape and not running. The AIR pump blew a gasket and cooked the passenger side wiring harness. 84 is when the manfs were converting to the new water based paints and the paint (heavy metallic silver/gray/green) basically eroded away. It is at an acquaintances car yard and I have been trying to get him to give me a quote to get it running so I can use it.
Afternoon all. Well was suppose to go home Friday but someone dropped the ball so I'm still in the hospital till Monday sometime. Not happy at all but what are you going to do. ( oh it's a IV I will need to do twice a day so I can't just forget that part)
Not much else going on here. Doing well. Hope all are. Thanks for the get-wells and best wishes
Evening All,
Had a good day, started off with getting window motors replaced in the El Camino, and a power door motor. Good price too. Not bad, originals lasted 30 yrs. Then was asked to put some LEDs together to accomodate a N Scale layout. This layout is really huge for N Scale, 14x18 feet with 7 parallel tracks. Only 4 switches, customer has bunches and bunches of money, this layout is going into his bedroom with the larger HO layout.
Working Saturday and Sunday at some computer shows, then Saturday helping Chris install skid plates under his FJ Cruiser. Then delivery some tables on Sunday to a friend of Kay's. So busy days ahead.
Kay is going to be going on the "The Talk" (daytime talk show). Being taped on Oct 6 and aired on Oct 7. The topic is Cancer Survivors. Needless to say she is nervous and excited about it. She should have a good time and it will be fun for her.
Need to get some stuff preparred for tomorrow.
Glad to hear RT and Kev are feeling better,
Talk to you all later, take care and be safe!
Don
Good day at work. Went to hear older daughter sing at church service tonight. It was nice. I hope everyone has a good day.
Roy, Next year will be 60 years since my class graduated from HS but I haven't made a single reunion. It is 3000 miles from me on the East Coast and it always seems like a bad time for me to go. I recently got invited to join a group on Facebook all about being a Portsmouth, Virginia native. They have had about 6000 people sign up and I only no one of them so far. I guess most of the older codgers like me don't do computers or have passed on.
Good afternoon all, went to see my wife today and she was doing OK. Went out to breakfast this morning with two of my train buddies. My friend Larry returned the last two GGD scale pullman cars that he replaced some knocked out windows on. Unfortunately the light wire connection came loose on one of them and it's impossible to correct that without a new plug. However I'll just run it dark and pretend that the folks in that car have all retired or that the car is just deadheading to somewhere. I appreciate the time Larry but in on this tedious chore and don't blame him for the wiring issue. I couldn't have done any better probably. Today I concentrated on getting my rebuilt (by MTH) ATSF 4-8-4 going. It loses power over one switch so I cleaned the rollers and the track but still have a bug in there somewhere. As long as you don't stop on the switch it will skip over it. I'm pulling those pullmans and a couple of head end cars behind that engine. The cars would also look good behind my MTH NYC J1E scale Hudson. All of my command control engines need a work out after sitting up all summer.
Later,

KRM - It's like herding cats!
Never thought about doing that Fife but I think your right. We were lucky when we moved. Our old house had not sold so we had all the time we needed. Still it took more to move the stuff in my garage to my shed than the stuff from the old house to the new one.. How far away is your new place from where your old place is?
Aloha. Clouds are giving way to sun. The local HS Homecoming parade is lining up right outside the house. I enjoy all that youthful enthusiasm when the football team and band show up to march off back to the school. I'm getting together with my brother tomorrow to take in the ND-Duke game. First time I've been back to campus in a while. I'm never keen on what they charge for tickets, nor the quality of football we'll be watching. But it's an excuse to get together.
Joe, what comics are you subscribing to these days? I was reading the old (and new) Star Wars.
Brent, it's always great to work up a layout of a size that you let's you begin running trains right away - good luck.
