SPMan My new computer is called a Lenovo. Don't know anything about them but the price was right. It was a gift. Has a nice big screen which I like for watching train videos and stuff. It is a desk top model but has no tower. That is built into the monitor.

My new Desk top is also a Lenovo Ray, Someone told me they used to be IBM computers, I had never heard of Lenovo before I saw this at Best-Buy. I did not get the All-in-one. The tower is small and my desk has a place for it. Our neighbor got a All-in-one and had issues with it so I backed off. I liked them tho. So far I like this one. I always used my lap-top from the desk anyhow so the big 21" screen is nice.

Good morning all,
Looks like the log on problem cleared up. It was not my new computer's fault after all.
The heat wave will continue here for a few more days Triple digets for the next few days.
I'm still fighting my insurance company about the claim for Helen's long term care. I thought it was a done deal but they are still looking for more information from the re hab place where she was prior to entering the long term care facility. Now I have to chase somebody down at that place and light a fire under them. The Ins. Co said they requested the info back in May but somehow it was not forthcoming. I have been shelling out big bucks to satisfy the deductable and now it is time for the Ins. Co to step up to the plate. Sorry for the rant
later,
Ray

V8Vega The only place I want to install it is through the wall and those kind of air conditioners cost more than ones made for window installation. I don’t see why I can’t get a window one and make a platform to set it on through the wall. Anyone have experience with this?

I have boxed out the wall and installed a window unit through the wall before Dennis. The problem is most will not fit between the upright studs so you need to build a box and by all rights should install a header above the box like you would for a window. Maybe you can wire a external box for the extra breakers. 220 would be much better. Would have to check your codes.
Another HOT one here. George showed up with a large dead mouse in his moth as an offering to Sandra for being gone so long. LOL Ate it and left again.

I was locked out too. No biggie. Happy late Father's Day wishes to all. Mine was excellent, Rails and Sails. Got to cruise on the yatchett with Fifepup, was given an authentic Hawaiian shirt with yatchetts on it by oldest princess (who also whipped me up a lemon meringue pie), received a MTH 19th Century B&O boxcar from Wifey, a Lionel LRRC "50 Year" Boat Loader from middle princess (wanted this one for some time, yes!), and an O's tshirt from grandson. Topped the afternoon off with a little cookout and some steamed crabs with Old Bay. I am blessed.
Yea they fixed it I guess. Probably was an easy fix but it happened on the weekend.
Thanks Kevin I had a quiet but nice birthday. Don't like getting old though.

George the Cat is missing.
Had a great father's day. Youngest son and his wife took me out to eat and gave me a new computer. Not a minute too soon! My old one has a lot of issues. Trying to get used to the new one now. Had to do this on my old computer because the new one does not recognize my password for the Coffee Pot yet.
Good evening all,
RT, great gift for the wife. Sturfish, IMS stands for Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the 500 is held. Relaxed today. I hope everyone has a great day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Jim, glad you had a good time with Don Baker. I'm sorry that I was unable to host a visit to my layout as well but with the heat wave we're having, it would have been unbearable in my garage. Mainly, I'm sorry I did not get a chance to meet you but you couldn't have done better than you did with Don. My oldest son and family took me to Newport Beach for father's day yesterday but the traffic was horrible. We could not find a parking place anywhere near the Crab Cooker restaurant which we wanted but Had to go to plan B and wound up at a place in the city of Santa Ana at a place called the Crab Boiler. It was good though. We had a lot of seafood. Going out with the younger son today to Black Angus/
Good Morning from beautiful Hollywood,
We had a great day Saturday. Gabriel, our host, Mike Burko, who we’re staying with and I went to visit Don Baker and we had a great time. As Don mentioned, we ran trains on his fabulous layout, talked, visited the club layout at Fort MaCarthur and went on a guided tour of Long Beach, stopping the see the battleship Iowa.
We had a great time and Don is the most gracious you could want. The visit with Don was the high point of the vacation from my perspective. Thanks Don.
We went to the Dodger’s game last night. Perfect weather and the Dodgers won over the Brewers. It was late when we got home and today is going to be a long day as we are taking a red-eye home tonight, we’re letting the kids sleep in and we’ll go to a later Mass.
RT - That fountain is really something. I too see this becoming a bigger project.
Mike - What is IMS? If it has vintage race cars it sounds like something Gabriel and I may want to see.
Dennis-I’m not familiar with what you are calling a Cooler, but it sounds like some kind of evaporation unit that puts water over a radiator of sorts and lowers temperatures? If so the I can see where a line could easily get clogged with water left in the lines and sludge or chemicals in the water evaporate over time. Be careful getting on and off that roof.
Kev - We’ve got custody of the three kids and have had them since ‘06 I believe. It changed our lives significantly, but for the better and I consider it a blessing to be entrusted with raising them. They are good kids, most of the time.
I hear people stirring so I’ll go in and make some coffee.
May God bless
Jim
Morning all, I think I did a very dumb thing yesterday as my part but the wife is loving it. There's been a cement (you see where this is going already don't you) fountain 3 tier in front of this old mansion here in town. well the present owners where having a yard sale yesterday more or less as a joke I said how much for the fountain well the lady said $40 I said sold and went and backed truck up to the area. I yell to wife give me $40 I just bought your fountain she thought I was joking but about Freak when she realized I wasn't. the bottom platform ( shall we call it that for lack of better wording ) must weigh about 300 LBS as its about 3 1/2' across The base I say was about 60 LBS. When I get it together I will take a picture. It's real old I know that. the house is from like 1878 and I would say this fountain is probably about early 1900's at the latest. I need to eat some breakfast and get out there to level the area so hopefully I can get some help putting it back together. I have no idea how I'm going to get the first tier moved with out some help. Right now other than the base it is in the back of the truck. Anyway I also need to put a hand rail for the front steps in for Donna and anybody who would need it. Had to go get a chisel to break a Brick that is under ground sticking out from the side walk ( 2 layers deep in bricks for about 3' then cement. to the street ). So I have my work cut out for me for a few days. SJ sorry didn't make it last night laid down to watch TV next thing I knew was 2 am and knew you where well asleep by that time. Was going to watch a 1/2 show then get back on line well that never happened sorry.Train wise nothing happening here at present. Hope all have a good day talk to you all later.

Good Evening!
V8 Vega, BE CAREFUL, with all that ladder work, maybe you could find a younger neighbor to help out, especially with the heat coming up!
And a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! SJ
Had a terrific day, Sturgeon-Phish, his grandson, and a friend came by. We ran trains for awhile, reminised ab out the Coffee Pot, and discussed all you old guys! It was very enjoyable. Then we went for a drive thru the LB/LA Harbor area, down to the AGHR train club, and a drive-by of the USS Iowa. Had a great time.
While we were at the club, one of the guys had brought in an engine he had scratch built, it was awesome, AND runs great!
He machined all the parts, It is truly of museum quality.
Happy Fathers Day to All!
Be Careful and Stay Healthy

One of my best days ever. Did a 5K this morning with someone from work in under 52 minutes. Went to IMS for a vintage racing day. They had a "pro-am" event with former Indycar drivers paired with Corvette, Camaro and Mustang owners. Got to see and talk to many of the drivers. Got to speak with Little Al and tell him I know now what Indy means. Got to see a lot of restored and reproduction Indy cars as well, many of which I have seen compete over the years. One of the best days of my life. Also, got to stand in AJ's garage. It was not like it was in May, but they had all four of his winning cars there. I hope everyone has a good day.
Kevin says he can't log on either ,
edit: Dougnotagrump can't get on either
Good Morning from Sunny Hollywood!
Saw the Dory movie last night that the kids wanted to see. Cute movie.
Going to hook up with Don Baker this morning. Looking forward to that!
Later.
SJ just emailed me saying he can't log on to here but wanted to thank you all for the birthday wishes

Mornin' boys. Weather is pretty in the Mid-Atlantic region. Not much on tap today, but dinner with in-laws later.

82 and low humidity, Nice out there.
Well back from shopping and we stopped at Sandie's bar and grill on the way home for lunch. I had the smothered teriyaki chicken breast with onion-rings and two beers. Forgot what Sandra had. Darn good food there.
Picked up a set of speakers for the new PC and some other stuff I needed for the shop. Sandra got me two new chairs for in front of the shop for father's day.
Jim, I got to hand it to you for raising those grand-kids, Hope I never have to but you never can tell. We have three on each side, Russ and Katie. Each of their mates had one before so we have 4 blood grand-kids and 2 not but they were babies and have always know us as grandparents.
Good Morning from Hollywood
The family and I got back in town from visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. As I was looking a the massive, gigantic Sequoia trees I was thinking about when you are putting trees on a layout you would need to have a really big tree on the layout to come close to the scale of these masterpieces of the Creator.
The weather has been perfect for our vacation but the extended forecast for next week is calling for hotter temperatures. I hear the weather at home has been warm and wet so we’ll be cutting grass when we get home on monday.
Don - Beautiful prints. I’ll be calling this afternoon to firm up some plans.
Chief - Soy beans are like candy to a 5 year old. And the field is easier to hunt than a corn field.
Kev - Try raising the grandkids. Lots of activity, but they are a blessing. When hiking in the parks, and they complain about being tired, I just tell them, What, you can’t keep up with a couple old farts?
SJ - Happy Birthday!
on HO SJ it realy depends on the piece like O gauge. it's more collectable than a lot realize. yes you can find in box for $75 but you can also find in box way over the $300 if it has any speciality cars in the set expect over $300, if it's a plane jane set figure between $100 and $300 depending again whats in it.
Happy Birthday SJ
Although in box pieces bring a higher price, very little of Lionel HO is worth much. I'd still take the 300.
Lionel HO
Depending on what it is it could be $30.00 or $3,000.00.
Best bet is search ebay for the same item. Don't forget completed items

On HO by Lionel it depends on the set. some of them sets can be worth $1000. I had a friend find one at goodwill and sold it to me for $50 about 10 years ago I ended up selling it for $300. You need to ask her whats in it. I can help some but not a lot . but most I wee are around ther price she is being offered or less but something tells me if someone offered her $300 they know they can get a lot more.
My experience with Lionel HO is that it depends on the buyer. Nothing they offered was great, mostly train set quality. Ray didn't say what was being sold for 300 but I'd say take it.
Anybody know anything about Lionel HO values? A lady called me today and said it belonged to her sister and that she was being offered $300 for it. It was in nice shape and in the original box according to her. Without more detail, I was not able to make a guess. Are Lionel HO trains rare? or collectable? $300 sounded OK to me but I told her that I really never bought or sold Lionel HO.
Busy, busy day at work. Tomorrow does not look much better. Last week, most of the guys who call meetings were gone, making it nice and quiet to get the things we talk about in the meetings done. This week, they seem to be trying to make uf for the lack of meetings next week.
I mowed the parts of the yard that needed it tonight. If the weather holds, I probably won't need to mow again for a couple of weeks. Yes, Chief, I drank lots of water.
One of the local professional photographers took a picture of my Polar Express layout when it was set up at the KATY museum last year - maybe the year before. He dressed it up digitally and gave me a large print. It is a great picture. I spoke to him a couple weeks ago at the Scott Joplin festival and asked if I could submit it to CTT for the readers page. He sent me a digital copy of the picture today. I'll figure out how to submit it in the next couple of weeks.
The puppy is sleeping at the moment. I notice that his head is too big for the rest of his body - he is going to grow some more.
All for now.
Hello there,
where did the week go???????? Gotta pack up tomorrow and head home. Son and family left Tuesday evening. I spent much of Wednesday working from here. In the PM Mrs & I made an excursion to Assateaque to explore. Spent a couple o hours sitting on a Bayside Beach enjoying the weather and watching people. Finished the day at a Chineese Buffet and the QVC outlet store. Today we rode the Cape May/Lewes Ferry to Cape May. Raining like he** when we got there. We attended Mass in beautiful Our Lady Star Of The Sea church in Cape May. (part of the plan) We had lunch and the rain was done so we continued exploring. Return trip got us back in time for a late supper followed by filling grandkids cloths orders from the Rehobeth outlets on the way back to the condo.
Son and I made a trip to Toy Town Tuesday AM. I picked up 3 early Tyco/Mantua box cars at a good price
