Good afternoon from Sunny warm (70F) Southern Ohio,

Buckeye- Glad your trip went well, sounds like you had a good time.

Kev- The Golden Boy is a fine rifle, always wanted one.  Your swap sounds like a win -win.

JIm-Looks like the outside is good.  Are parts hard to come by?

Brent- Neat grill!  Our burners are rusted away, I’m going to try the rebuild route first.

It’s been a busy day.  Led Stations of the Cross and Divine Mercy Chaplet at the Elementary , then up to the High School where I subbed for an absent teacher and had one Senior Math class, and two 7th grade science classes.  Came home and had a phone interview for an Industrial Trainer’s position, very close to where I used to work, doing training similar to what I’ve taught before.  I have a good feeling about how the phone interview went.  They said I was qualified and experienced, so we’ll see.  Later this evening I’ll be going to lead Stations again at a nearby parish.  Whew.

Going to rest a bit before time to go and get stuff ready.

May God Bless

JIm

Afternoon fellas

Been quite a ride here in MD. Finally got an offer from the new company yesterday, signed the deal today. Glad that is one thing that has been hanging over the house for over a year. Now to ride out the whole ADT thing.

My 10 year old propane grill rusted through last year, so been looking at grills for nearly 6 months. Talked with FiL a few weeks ago and showed him the ones I was looking at. New grill arrived yesterday. Really stoked because this thing is a beast (Weber Summit 620), of course the kids wanted tacos for dinner last night, so tonight is the new grill christening. Smile

Vacations are planned - taking the kids to Beaches Ocho Rios in June (over our 10 year anniversary). Looking forward to a week away and an excuse to disconnect. Then Ocean City for Christina's 5yr birthday. I have never driven across the Bay Bridge, so this is going to be new. Can't believe my little girl is going to be 5!!!!

Fife......Thats in MD isn't it??????? Jim..........looks like a fun project if you've got a place to work on it. Make sure it's not rusting from the bottom up. I've heard they do when too close the ground.

Buckeye - Hey, 31 more extractions and you become an honorary Roseyville citizen...Laugh

Banks - Wifey was eyeing a pretty little house in Ellerslie, but way too close to Wills Creek for my liking.

Off to HD for more mulch, a little crack spackle, and maybe a posey or two.

Good morning.

A chilly 38 but heading to 56 with abundant sun. So could be worse. Mark and Mark came over yesterday and we went out for lunch at Sandie's tap and then came home to my place set up the range sited one gun in and shot a bunch of other guns then drank beer. I think Mark K wants my Henry Golden Boy 22LR. So I told him if he finds me a Henry Big Boy 357MAG I will pay him the difference it cost over the Golden boy. I already have an everyday 22LR and I had only shot the Golden Boy twice since I got it. It just hangs on the wall. So this way I will have a rifle that uses the same load as my S&W hand gun.

Guns are cleaned, lubed and put away. Boy the stainless steel S&W 357 is a PITA to clean.

So time to go to the bank.

Last train running was the night before last.

Have a good day.

Some sun this morning....50/60s all week.

Other than the club I really have not done any train things at all lately. Well now and then I do give something a few laps to keep things clean and make sure everything is working.

Don't  forget to spring forward at 2am Sunday morning.

Good evening all,

Busy day, good day.  Spent 2.5 hours in meetings that were mostly productive.  Pain two never showed up today and pain one left at 1 PM so it was a quiet afternoon.  Picked my new "sticker reds" for the mini today and will start to break them in tomorrow.   Quiet night at home.  Buckeye, glad you had a good trip in Hoosierland.  "Real" racing starts this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Back home!!! AutomobileIt was a great trip.  I had supper with friends from Buckeyeland on Monday night in Lafayette, Indiana where I was born near the location of the old Wabash RR Station. On Tuesday was the Purdue Road School where I saw one of my classmates but heard the news that another had passed away.   Met people from my home town, Auburn, home of the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg automobiles.  Had supper with two "kids" I was in Boy Scouts with. Saw a Bald Eagle sitting in the median on US 24 near Logansport, IN. Stopped at wife's cousin's hardware store. He wasn't there.  Lunch in Fort Wayne with a friend of 55 years who gives me free financial and legal advice. Visited my Mom.  Met with a client at a restaurant outside of Cabelas for a lunch of bluegills.

Head is one of those Jabsco jobs, but the rule is, you use it, you pump it out.  Haven't had any takers in 6 years.

Yeow! Bet that makes for a scramble when you get back to shore!

Been raining here the last 3 days and it has been good soaking rain. 2.5 in at my house so far. Supposed to continue for another couple of days.

Good morning, Cloudy 48 heading to 54
Had a guy come out yesterday to do a quote on 700' of our lane. My part. It has not been added to for 8 years and could use about 3" over the top. The guy next door has a Gooseneck dump and we do most of the lane together up to my part. But at 6 ton a load it takes a long time and it does not tailgate well. . The closest pit is 21 miles away so we are lucky to get in three loads in the morning before he leaves for work at noon. Two years ago we put down 29 loads, took weeks. So I thought I would just get mine out to quote to see how much it will be. Would be nice to just have it tailgated where all I would have to do is clean it up with the grader.
Don't know yet got to get the quote but at $9.00 a ton for delivery I am not to keen on it. That much made sense when diesel was over $4.00 a gallon but not now at $2.00. CA 6 Gravel is $6.50 a ton. Trucking should be no more.

Good Morning from wet and mild (50F) Southern Ohio,

Ray-Praise God for your brother's recovery!

Well I bought an Acer Chrome book and using it now.  It seems to do what I want as I'm learning my way around it.  Still trying how to figure how to save and open from a thumbdrive as I prefer storing off the computer.

I have a phone interview Friday afternoon for an Instructor job in a different section of the plant where I workedI'm going to prep for the interview reviewing their process.  It would be very similar to what I did a few years back.

Also I'm going to be a substitute teacher at the Elementry School.  That should be interesting.  Smile

May God bless

Jim

( train wise) have some parts coming intoday then just made a good size order with Jeff Kane last night so thats going to be a good bit of stuff so I can fix 3 engines and a few other things. Waiting to see if they got the parts in to repair my truck. Thats going to be about $600 but better than what I was expecting as it turned out I didn't need a part I was told I did. Was expecting $1000 so kinda happy with that but want it fixed before I goto York next month.

Good news, my brother in Virginia is home from the hospital now and does not require oxygen at home.  He made a dramatic recovery of blood oxygen level on the last day so they let him go.  He still has a lot of kidney stones but are not bothering him yet.

New Gold Line light rail is open now but parking is a problem.  Station near us only has 200 spots and they were all taken by 7:00AM.  If you want to ride in the middle of the day, good luck on finding a parking place.  City needs to start a shuttle.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon from sunny warm (70F) Southern Ohio,

Went to school and assisted at Mass, then picked up a pint of paint to paint the fender on the Civic. $50 for a pint!  Washed the truck then trimmed some low hanging limbs.  I told the bride I'd dust and sweep before the troops get home so this is going to be quick.

Fife-Add in a travel stipend and I'm on my way to help.

Cloudy and 63 now. It made it into the 70s yesterday.

Haircuts this morning at Great Clips. $5.99. But since it was half price she would only clip one of my two hairs...Big Smile

Morning all!

Huge storm headed for us in next 30 min. Kev - we'll wave as we blow by. Easterners - sending it your way soon.

SJ - you are going to like the sound boxcar. My buddy has one he was running at the train show in Jan. I like the rail joint and rail squeal sounds.

Ray - Angel for your brother.

Fife - I am taking my boat in next week to get an exhaust manifold gasket replaced. I guess the yachet doesn't have an exhaust manifold. Oh wait!, I guess the "head" requires one...Whistling

Sorry Roy, big high pressure pushing it to the north of us.  Hope you are OK.

Sunny and 64 degrees.  Going to 80 today.  No rain!!!

Prune grape vines [a month behind on that one].  Errands and then slip into the pond property later this afternoon.  Some "guys" [hoodlums from top of the hill] tried to fish yesterday afternoon while Fred was there.  Told them to leave and they sassed him.  I'll take care of them.

Hope all are OK.

Aloha. As Kev says, it is supposed to get even warmer today - yay!  I had a good day yesterday - I walked over to sneak up the clock tower of the old Dearborn station. It has a fine view north. I'm always struck by how small the station is - it must've bustled when the Super Chief was ready to leave.

Fife, I'll be right over to help clean the yachet.

Today I had a new rail commuting experience (which I have never had in 27 years or about 621,000 miles.) Our scoot was flying along at our sanctioned 59 mph when I heard the 'Bang' of the brakes going into emergency. It takes a 9 car train a long time to stop. Then I heard 3 short horn blasts and thought we're backing up - maybe a train in front of us hit something. Then I realized the engineer missed a station stop. We slid into the platforms, loaded everyone up and off we went again without a word. I wonder if the dispatcher in Omaha noticed. Smile

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 53 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Working on Fifedom's curb appeal.  15 sacks of red cedar mulch spread out yesterday.  A little white-wash today, and sprucing up the garage, inside and out.  Normally, I'd be using this gorgeous weather to work on the yatchet....Sigh
