Afternoon all.  Tummy thing and low fever.  Staying in.  Use to do the Mayor thing and go to meetings.  Called and said no Mayor today.  Getting better now.  Sunny, breezy and so so temps.  Cold coming from Kev and Sir J. on Wed. night and thru Friday.  BURRR.

Hope all are OK.

Buckeye, send photos of bridge or may a thread showing construction.  I might get ideas for some of my lift bridges.

Later.

Noon Time!

38 here heading into the 20s and snow tomorrow.

Had a doctor follow up this morning. All of my numbers came back good and also the results of the colonoscopy. He said that all is good and I am good for 10 years with the colonoscopy. All they found were a couple of hemoroids. I told the doctor, " I thought I left the hemoroids at work when I retired!" He bust out laughing.

Kevin: Safe trip for Sandra.

Doug: Safe trip home and may the car start right up.

Enjoy the Day!

Mornin' Fellas

Been busy taking down the Christmas decorations, still have the trains and one tree to remove then take all the bins to the basement. Probably finish tonight. Christina doesn't like taking down Christmas (I can agree with her). She really likes having the trains up, but I reminded her that we'll be working on her train garden for Thomas, getting the big garden running, and then building a new garden for under the tree for next Christmas - she is really excited to get started!

Hoping that I can get the basement cleaned up so maybe put the tree garden in the basement next year instead of the sunroom (more space and won't upset TheQ), we'll see.

Hope all are doing well!

January in Michigan

We have sun and 8 degrees. A dusting of snow yesterday evening made the roads slick. No train news here but Charlie is making good progress on his new layout.

Aloha. Back to the office. As Kev noted, it's pretty cold here - far below zero with the lake breeze which doesn't help the 2-4 inches of snow on the ground. Supposed to snow again tonight. Good indoors weather. Metra trains were all screwed up this morning with frozen switches and non-starting engines. Ah well. I thought fixing that was the excuse for raising their ticket prices last year. All the more time to enojy my latest big book overview on model railroading in Britain by Ian Rice.

Good Evening,

Had a great day, went to the Train Club Meet (TTOS) in Arcadia today.  Was able to chat for awhile with Larry, Ray, and his lovely wife Helen.   Didn't buy anything was considering a Lionel Diner but didn't pull the trigger.  Got home this afternoon and continued cleaning in the train room and the layout for a couple of hours.  Then, out for a Mexican dinner.  Now am very tired and just no energy.

So talk later and hope everyone has a good day.

Good Evening!

Went to the Greenberg Train Show at Somerset, NJ today. Met up with and ran into other friends including people from work. The Show was good and the only thing I bought was a Corgi 1950s Seagrave Fire Engine like the one I learned on and drove 40 years ago.

Laz: I will bring a load of the foam cradles along with the ice cream to York. Doray is giving me a list for all to list what flavors they want.

Joe: The snow will be there!

Kev: Prayers for Sandra's trip to work tomorrow.

Enjoy the Trains!

Good evening all,

Made it to the train meet with my wife and had a nice visit with Don, his friend Bob, my friends Larry and two others that make up our team when we get together in my garage.  It was good to get out and good for wife too.  First meet I have been to in about three months.

On the way over, I took the route which follows the ex Santa Fe, now Gold line to check on the progress.  Catenary and track are just about all done now and they have been running test trains lately.

When they finish, I will ride it downtown and get a beef dip at Philipe's across the street from Union Station.  Famous place here.

Ran a train on my layout for about an hour this afternoon and put new tires on my MTH proto 2 NYC Hudson.  Lost the bell casting off the top of it and took me an hour to find it.  All's well now.

Put up my new 2015 Union Pacific Calendar in the train room that they mail me every year.  Noticed I had not changed the old one since October.  Tells how my train activity has suffered since I have become a caregiver/cook/financial manager/driver/you name it.

Kevin you have 4x4 either let her or take her in.

RT we have plans for this kind of stuff. Her Torrent is all wheel drive and she feels better in it. Her round trip is just 2 miles short of 100 miles so me taking her into work is a poor option at best. I would rather just let her loose the holiday pay and know she will be safe. Now talking to her about that is another thing. She is driven to go. She has her own plan. So out here you got to have a back up plan. We have always had winter kits for everyone's cars. Even the kids when they were here. Just a good idea. You never know.

Have been having all kinds of problems switching e-mail accounts, but am working through it. Wanted to do it on one place,,, change it on another fourm site and it made me re-open an account I closed. Tongue Tied

I did get the JD out and made sure all is ready.

Full moon has the place all lit up.

Enjoy and be safe.

Why on CTT O and S gauge do I see an HO add next to this box? Angry

Enough!!!

Chief......I will only say this once.  I am seeing the same ad you are describing.  It is for an MTH HO 4-8-8-4 Big Boy Steam Locomotive.

Chuck....Get the snow cannon ready to be loaded on Monday night.

As I said I have been working on a curved under the deck style girder bridge. Layout of curves, chords and girder lines was interesting.  Now the cutting of the masonite flooring.

Back to work tomorrow.  I have had almost two solid weeks of vacation with the exception of 2 days at the computer last week finishing a 40 page marketing report.

EDIT:  So after I hit the post button, ad change and now is showing Trainworld.

Rain, snow, yuck, and cold here in SE Indiana.  Watched 2 more Sherlocks and did some more building on LEGO project.  As with all the other ladies, wife will be watching Downton Abby tonight.  Back to work tomorrow to earn Social Security money for the Chief.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Winter has hit the North Bluff!

Very cold and going south from here. I made Sandra put the winter kit in her car today. You know Blankets and hand warmers and other stuck in the ditch stuff.

If she gets in tomorrow she will get her holiday pay. As for Tuesday she may have to pass. They are calling for 6" to 8"  tomorrow night and it will be cold 9 for the high with light snow and wind so she will be out of luck on these roads. They will be under drifts.

Stay warm and safe.

Good afternoon all (Hi Chuck),

We went to church this morning and then I was able to watch the Bengals-Colts game, which is just about over and the Colts have it.  It should be an interesting match up next week in Denver.  The weather turned a bit colder today and we have a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain right now.  I could use a big does of snow tonight.  The girls will be watching the season premiere of Downton Abbey (or whatever it's called) so the boys and I will have to occupy ourselves some other way.

Fife - I'm glad you figured out the cattle yard.  Your Ravens will match up well against the Pats, but I believe the Pats will win.  I'm not a fan of either team and I'm pulling for Denver this year as my Dolphins blew it again.

Banks - The layout will be slow-going as I travel a lot for work.  Also, I'm repurposing some old wood and doors the landlord left behind.

Afternoon all.  Sunny one minute and t'storms the next.  Just had a big blow outside.  Suppoe to blow through by night.

Rain trains for Town Clerk's 4 year old yesterday afternoon.

Back from a trip at Harbor Freight [getting free tarps] and Wifey's Dillards, AC Moore, Michaels and etc.  T'storms hit on the way home.

Cougars won yesterday.  NC and SC gets free Double Tavern Burger at Red Robin on Tuesdays. [actually I am a Cowboys fan].  Cougars have fed me a lot of free burgers lately.

Try the PA conical bullet. They don't use a patch but the conical base keeps the weight down so the the difference in the twist rate doesn't hurt performance

Thanks BANKS, but still doing it the old fashion way ball and patch.  So far gun went off each time I unloaded at night.  Getting real good spark and all is working well.  Probably when I get a shot, like last year then all goes south?  Thats flintlock hunting though?

Buckeye Riveter

Went to church this morning and prayed hard that I would have the strength again this year to fund the Chief's and many others SS checks.

Have started to work on one of the last bridges on the layout.  Installed the second to the last bridge over the holidays.  One thing that I started years ago after installing a rather drap looking Lionel truss bridge was to paint them orange.  It really makes diference on the layout. I remember Chuck painting his big bridge blueberry blue and made it really look great.

8nTruck......G scale is easy to work on because it is so BIG and the parts are BIG.  Springs are the worst problem along driver alignment on steam.  I have had LGB and Bachmanns apart.  Motors burn out on Bachmanns trollies.  Bang Head

Laz...... Remember when they fired the coach and Buckeyeland went into a funk. They made a movie about it.

Just hope they don't do a film of a Pennsylvania Coach, and all the baggage that followed.

Mornin' boys.  Rain, fog, and 45 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Here is what Tom Brady dreamt last night ---> 55 Sad 58 Sad 92 Sad 98 Sad 57 Sad 51 Sad ...Sleep tight, pretty boy. Sleep

Having Fifeclan get together tonight, so will be spending day preppin'.  Got to get oldest princess to pick up grandson, who spent the night.

Banks - I'll be "training" some this month, then permanently next month (if not sooner).

laz - 19 weeks.

Spent yesterday working on my 3656 Cattle car and stockyard, that Wifey bought me at YORK.  Cosmetically, it was in pretty good shape (original 1949 version with ARMOUR).  I would discover that mechanically it was suspect.  It shorted the transformer upon powering up, so I had to methodically disassemble and test along the way.  Upon opening up the platform and base, there was relatively new electical tape and wire nuts.  The older wiring to the platform coil was original, and the culprit.  A carefull separation of the wiring solved the shorting issue, and that platform snapped and buzzed to life.  Then the cattle car wouldn't activate.  No power blade. Bang Head  I was able to "fashion" one out of an old curtain bracket with a roto-zip.  To the family upstairs, I must have sounded like Gene Wilder in Young Frankenshteen. Lightning

So I threw a quick loop of track around the tree, and then had the little one singing Rollin' Rollin' Rollin', Keep them doggies rollin'...  Next, gotta figure out how to fine tune it so the beef moves freely.  As to the cork board, it seemed to act as a pretty good base, and absorbed the vibration and sound some.

Sadly, I've learned that my Marx 74  semaphores cannot handle the load of running for extended time.  Burned through 2 of them. Sigh

Just above freezing and rainy today.  Going to be a mess if it drops below freezing tonight.

My wife ran out of Downtown Abby DVDs today, so she is caught up and ready for the new season.

Worked some on the Polar Express layout today, building a rock wall that will clean up a hole between two modules of the layout.  There are lots of places between the modules that need to be worked on to hide the joints better when the layout is assembled.  The plaster cloth over Great Stuff spray foam was an easy way to build the scenery.  Only problem is that the spray foam is still moving.

Stopped at the LHS yesterday.  The Polar Express Trolley I've had on order is due to be delivered next week - finally.

I've made a couple of repairs on pieces other customers have brought in over the last few years, so now I seem to be his 'train guy'.  He has a Lioinel Holiday Tradition Express set that needs help.  It is a G scale rig that runs on a constant DC voltage that is applied to the track.  A push button remote controls the functions.

Anybody out there ever work on one of these?  A quick check of the Lionel web site reveals that the only spare parts stocked are power supplies and track sections.

About all for now.

Good evening all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps going up and down like a yo-yo.  Ran the gas out of the mowers today while it was warm.   Did some major building on a LEGO project.  A couple of years ago I bought a set that was supposed to make a "factory".  When it was finished, it was smaller than most of my houses.   So I bought 2 more sets, thinking someday I would expand it, and now I am working on that task.  Modifying existing sets takes more thought and creativity than I possess so it is coming along.   One side is structurally done with cosmetic enhancements to be finished after the other side is complete.  So far it is looking good and we shall see what tomorrow brings.   For now, "the game is afoot!" as we go to watch some more Sherlock.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all!

The wife and I packed up the decorations today so that is done for another year.

We got a welcome inch of rain last night. It hit about 50 today so made outdoor chores pleasant.

Went out to dinner with neighborhood friends. I had a salad as I have eaten enough the last two weeks to last until March I think.

I need to talk to Social Security in the next week or so. I need them to make Buckeye work harder.

Watching Baltimore hold off Steelers - oops Fifer - big fumble by the Ravens here at the beg of the 4th - will the Steelers capitalize?

All is good with the world in Buckeye Land...

Regards, Roy

Good evening,

It has been raining most of the day and  it is chilly, so there was no reason to leave the house.  The wife and I took down the Christmas decorations and did some other minor house chores.  I made pork schnitzel for dinner and the wife made a gravy for it.  We rounded it out with roasted sweet potatoes and okra and a salad.  I'm looking forward to tonight's game between the Steelers and Ravens.

Laz - I was back in Shendo for Thanksgiving, and I definitely ate my share of kielbo.
