Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........

It is a cold 12 degrees. Going up to 24 today.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. Roads look good. We only got an inch of snow on the grass.

Cheerios for breakfast on the dining car.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Cold windy good morning.  I think temps did rise but will drop all afternoon.  High 60's yesterday and high today 37.  Record low tonight.

Speaking of guys missing, Brent [88] is working on a project as usual.  Hope he is OK.

Think RT [Carpetbagger] has missed a day or two.

Rich signed in but where is John?

8N has been quite too.

I know Jon E. monitors us but probably frozen up and snowed in.

LAZ hasn't been by in ages.

Jackachusetts has been gone forever.

Hope all are well.

A record Low High temp today here. At 16 right now. Low High? Sounds like an oxymoron don't it. Laugh

So not much going on but burning wood and staying out of the cold. Decided Not to go to the great white north tomorrow. They can keep the white stuff and way colder there. Maybe if I hunted but if I did we have better deer here. the visit with the guys will have to wait till Planting Season in the spring. Wink

Stay warm.

Afternoon fellas

As Chief pointed out, I've been busy remodeling our kitchen... unfortunately my image host is no longer free, so I can't share pictures here... Sigh

The kids are growing (much too fast), but they make every day worth each and every struggle.

Not much else going on... have to find a new image host now... ugh - like I didn't have enough to do! Big Smile

Good evening all,

Prayers for Charlie's family.  So sad.  I know what it is like to go away for a while from here.   Some come back, others never do.   For my own view, I had to wait until there was a positive moment.   Tomorrow may be another one.  The procedure I was supposed to have in August is scheduled for Wednesday.  If it does not happen, I am not sure what my reaction will be (not good).   If they do proceed, this will be a new experience for me.   I am not too concerned with the going to sleep part, but the waking up does have me feeling a little apprehensive.   I guess I should employ the Irish philosophy (if I wake up, nothing to worry about, and if I do not wake up, possibly I will not have anything to worry about...either).   I will post as soon as I can.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all

My condolences to friends and family of Charlie.

Mike C.  Here's hoping for a successful procedure tomorrow.  Good Luck!

While we're in a prayerful mood, how about a little one for the folks in Western New York.  They say some areas might get over 6 feet of snow!  Anywhere to the west of Lake Erie or Ontario are potential disaster areas.

I've officially had enough of winter!

Condolences, Charlie.

Been working lots lately, so I have been lurking more than posting.  Been much colder than normal here too - makes me prefer to veg in my nice warm wing back chair instead of doing other things.

On Nov. 1, we had our Polar Express layout set up at the train show.  I also put up a starter set sized oval of track, some Halloween themed scenery, and was running my All Hallows Eve Express.  Amazingly, this simple set up drew as much attention as the other larger, more detailed HO and N gage layouts that were also on display.  As always, the grim reaper gateman was enjoyed by the public.

On the shopping front at that train show, my only 'had to have' was a Santa Fe 'Midnight Flyer' boxcar.

Since the Nov. 1 show, I have blown the front off of the mountain and am adding a loop of 027 track for the PE elf hand car.  Going to end up with a cliff where a slope used to be and a section of elevated track supported by some trestle looking supports with the hand car loop underneath.  Yes, I'll eventually post pictures.

We are planning on leaving the Polar Express layout up on display at the KATY Museum for several weekends in December.

I ground up leaves in my lawn last Saturday morning.  I think that was the first time I've ever run a lawn mower in below freezing temperatures.  We got a dusting of snow Saturday night.  Ended up grilling hamburgers in the snow on Sunday.

About all for now.

Condolences to Charlie and family.

Best wishes and prayers for Mike C. on his procedure.

Got a good report on my health from the doctor this week.  Says my blood test shows that I have dropped below what is considered diabetes.  He says if I continue with the diet and excercise I should be OK.  I only lost two pounds this time but I'm going in the right direction.

Wife had her last accupuncture treatment on Monday.  We told them that we did not wish to continue it.  My doctor thinks I made the right choice in her case.  We gave it a fair trial for a month.  He does not object to his patients trying it but considers it a placebo.

Cool this week in the high 60's with overnight low around 50 all week.  I can't complain.  Glad the hot weather is over.

TCA and TTOS Christmas parties coming up in December.  Cal Stewart train meet in Ontario, Ca. is this weekend.  I doubt if I will go.

#2 son leaves for North Carolina tomorrow to visit my sister and his cousin.  They are going fishing he says.  He will be back in time for Thanksgiving and then is off on another trip the day after to San Francisco with a friend who is putting him up in the city.  Wife and I will have the place to ourselves for a change.

Good morning all,

Mike C., glad you have the procedure behind you.  Sending prayers for recovery and freedom from pain.

I can't believe that I'm the first post on this date.  Everyone must be busy.

Got my #2 son off this morning for his flight to North Carolina.  He is going through Atlanta to try and avoid the winter weather further North.

Have a good day all,

Ray

Mike, Prayers for a full recovery.

Still cold but at least we don't have any snow and the sun is out.

Got my hairs cut so I won't be mistaken for Santa in the stores.

Some strange anomalies going on with the layout. Things missing and moving on their own. Surprise

Big traffic jam in Plainfield this morning thanks to a CN train blocking all of the crossings in town on the old EJ&E line.  That is starting to happen a lot according to the wifey.

Time for lunch.

Mornin' Fellas

Mike C - Angel - prayers for a speedy, full, and pain free recovery.

As some have noticed I have been quite absent from the board lately. While most of the reason has been the kitchen remodel, a part of it has been due to a phone call I received from my father a few weeks ago. Seems throughout his life his skin has been sensitive to the Sun and he has dealt with sunburn on his nose and ears yearly since childhood... well he has been dealing with a cyst on his ear for a few years (never went and had it checked), well he finally went and had it removed, the dr had called an informed him that it was indeed cancerous and to come back for a follow-up, during that visit she informed him that she had not removed all of the cyst (tumor) as she had thought. He was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (the best kind of skin cancer you can get - if there is a good cancer to get). He was scheduled to go in April 7th to have the rest of the cancer removed... fast forward to Monday. He got a call from the doctor that they had a cancellation and if he could come in they could do the procedure, he was there in 10 minutes... she was able to get it all and Dad is home resting and recovering. His ear is going to be a bit smaller than the other - but only noticeable if you really look at him - (I told him that won't be a problem because is wasn't very handsome to begin with). While I know he was going to survive, it was still a relief to hear that he was able to get in earlier and get it taken care of.

.... now back to my regularly scheduled insanity!

As some of you may know I was going NUTS because things are moving around and coming up missing on the layout.
So today was investigate WTH day.
After close inspection here is what I have found so far.
Inside the engine shed. The missing barrel, pig, burning bush, and other layout scenery. ALSO most important,,,Mouse Poop. I am still missing a small wood box, and another barrel. Sticky traps are placed to see if I can catch the cridder. Weird still that it would move these things like it has.  Think maybe it is living inside the mountain because I found more stuff in there?
