Good evening all,
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Watched my one American football game today as the Lions whipped the Bears after spotting them a 14-3 lead. Helped wife sort her movie collection into containers today. Quiet otherwise. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Banks, a happy family pic.
Yesterdays meal is a fond memory and after the burps and release of some pressured gasses feel pretty good this morning. No desserts yesterday, I just couldn't do it..Burp,pardon.

Good morning after, all
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and am just putting the finishing touches on clean up this morning. Got a lot of help from my DIL yesterday thankfully. Everything seemed to arrive at the table on time except I forgot the brown and serve rolls but managed to get them done before the meal was over.
We had our first meeting with youngest son's new girlfriend who joined us for dinner. They are off today on a sight seeing trip in San Francisco. She is from there.
Wife and I are left with all the leftovers. Need to finish cutting up the bird for sandwiches and dinner tonight. Turkey turned out real well this year and hit the right mark on the meat thermometer right away.
Thanks for all the well wishes for our 55th wedding anniversary on November 26th.
Now it's time for Christmas, ready or not.

Good day after, Had a nice brunch with the wife. The someday maybe SIL never made it out to hunt. Seems the daughter made him go shopping last night, sucker. I have to get 5 gift cards next week, going to get them at Krogers and get the 4x gas points that should help with all of the holiday driving around. The BIL wants our old TV so I now have a place to get rid of it other than the back road ditches like I see is where most of them get disposed of. Quiet here today but nice.DaBears sure know how to blow a good lead. Sure SJ approves! Jordan and I had some train time yesterday but not enough before they had to go to Dan's folks place.Charlie, Glad you got to the train room for some R&R. Prayers still out for you and faimily. Have a good day!

Did not sleep well last night, but took a nap this morning before heading off down the road a bit. Had to pay a bill, and while we were out, did some Christmas shopping and got some items for the railroads. Had lunch at SteakNShake and tried out the American Melt combo. Highly recommended. Probably best day so far. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening Gents!
Cold and flurries today. The DOT dropped so much salt on the roads this time whereas they got a major chewing out publicly for being late to salt during the last snowfall.
Picked up some electronic supplies including one of those magnetic reed switches to modify engine chuff. Ended up breaking it's glass encasement doing the mod...curses! Those little rare earth magnets are really cool. So tiny yet they can lift the weight of a 12" steel ruler.
I've been brainstorming an operating layout accessory...something in the PW style involving marbles and a dump car. I found the ideal toy at the electronics store that will suit adaptation into what I have planned. Will probably go back tomorrow for the toy and more reed switches.
Sunday is the last local train show and sale of the season. Might hit that then settle in for a winter of train related chores and projects around the house.
Have a great weekend!
Bruce
One last train show and sale of the season coming up this Sunday.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' Hudson. Did you wave to Fifepup as he went by this AM. I dropped him off at PENN Station today @ 0354 hours. He took N/E Regional Train 150, led by new Amtrak #607 (Siemens "toaster"), and transferred onto the Maple Leaf by 0710 hrs. On his way for girlfriend visit in Schenectedy.
Dinner today at local Japanese Steakhouse.
Finally sat down to watch Lone Ranger movie. Too long. Too much Johnny Depp. Didn't like how the director chose to make the title character a bumblin' stiff. Lots of rail though. However, there doesn't seem to be any similarity between the movie train and the sets that LIONEL produced.
Good morning all,
Had left overs all day yesterday. I think we are turkeyed out. Might make some oyster stew today.
V8, I haven't tried Chick-Fillet yet either. Thanks for the recommendation.
Chief, how are you doing on the hunt? Make sure you don't hit Rudolph or Bambi. Maybe colder weather will run off those pesky wood ticks.
My son brought home his targets from the turkey shoot he went to in North Carolina. He didn't do to bad for an amateur but no turkey.
Ran across something for my diet in a magazine. It's a poached egg on top of whole wheat toast spread with avacado with a little salt and pepper. It's yummy. I haven't perfected how to make poached eggs yet but I'm learning.
Got call from son on trip to San Francisco last night. He says it looks like rain up there today. Hope it moves down here far enough for us to get some.
Got a call from my friend who dines out with us a lot. Says he spent Thanksgiving at a fancy restaurant in Laguna, Ca. overlooking the ocean. His kids picked up the bill. Cobb salad was $38. Coffee or tea $8. Afraid to ask what dinner prices were. Location is what you are paying for. If it were me, I'd just drive down the road a little and look at the ocean for free.
Nice day today.
Later,
Aloha. A nice warming weekend then the polar plunge again. It sounds like a nice pleasant holiday was had by all. All my favorite football teams are losing or have lost. Sigh. Bruce, our town doesn't even salt the residential streets anymore. Off to pick up pizza for the kids.

Good Evening!
Ray & Dennis we too like Chick Filet, there food is really good. One near us has free items on Thursday morning. I've even got their Chicken Breakfast Platter free, and it was huge. Other times Biscuits and Gravy, also was excellent.
Our Thanksgiving was great, enjoyable by all. Went to a computer show this morning, and we did very well. Then did I ever find a great deal. This guy was selling led strips & string. These were items that were taken from outside signs. One string consists of 30 pcba's containg 3 bright white led's on each pcba, and placed about 4" apart. Price $4.00 per string. Stretched one out on the bottom of a shelf and it lites up everything on the shelf below. Really looks awesome! Since the pcba's are wired in parallel, can connect multiple strings together. Or cut them in any smaller configuration. They will be ideal inside buildings as well. Oh, requires 12vdc. (Wall wort). I bought 6 strands. I'm going to have these things all over. lol

Got outside today to mulch the leaves one last time. I did ok with no ill effects except for an unfortunate incident while wrapping the extension cord for the leaf blower after I was done. The cord struck where the procedure occurred, but no additional trauma, which was good. Watched an English Premiere League game between Sunderland and Chelsea, which ended in an 0-0 tie. Still very exciting. Wife and I put together another jigsaw puzzle. It was a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hello all
Fairly quiet Thanksgiving here.
More woodwork on the trolley yesterday and today. Took out a really big piece today, what fun!
Got my train fix this morning watching the Sunset Limited. A P40 on the head end and a P42 backing it up. Love those things. They hiss, snort and rumble. Like an Alco under the shell of a Ferrari:)
Dennis - my Acer Chromebook has an ethernet port for internet so I don't have to use wireless only, not sure about the Toshiba. You will like it though, it just works.
Shifter should go back in the Corvan this next week. It may be moving under its own power soon. Fingers crossed:)

Morning. Back from hunting. Nothing but little "girls" showed themselves. Big guys left tracks and a nice one on camera. I'll catch him off guard.
Sunny and warmer.
Take down fall and put up Christmas. Wifey will be wound up in a few.
Sleep test tonight at hospital.
Have a great week.
The temp is at 56 right now.
But it's a one day deal, back to 30s tomorrow.
Chief you gotta stay up till midnight, tomorrow is Dec. 1st.
Mornin' All !
Yesterday was pretty much a veg-out day.
Thanksgiving went great even with the houseful of family and extended family that we had here. Hi-light of the day was a surprise guest visitor for one of our guests. One of our guests that we have watched grow up and become a great individual surprised her mother by flying in her mother's sister from N.C. They hadn't seen each other for quite a few years, it was great. The only bad part was to much leftovers.
Friday was "Kid's Club Fun Run" at the museum, it went well with no major catastrophies. But I was like the walking dead by the time I got home. Tomorrow I get to cook for the BetterHalf's BUNCO party, oh joy. At least it is only 12 people and not 28.
Expecting rain over the next few day and cooler temps, but nothing near freezing,
Gotta run, need to drop some stuff off at the museum then the BetterHalf and I are doing some "investigative shopping".
Later all !

We had a surprise shower this morning enough to water the lawn but real rain is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday they say.
My roving son is scheduled to be back home tonight after a week end in the bay area.
Chief, good luck on the sleep test. Having it done in the hospital is probably better than trying to do it at home.
Don, sounds like you hit the jackpot with all those lights for your decorations.
Went out to eat last night at IHOP. So few people there right after Thanksgiving that we thought the place was closed at first.
Got the rest of the turkey cut off the carcass yesterday and put in the fridge. Will have some more tonight and make oyster stew today.
Saw the Ken Burns' Baseball series rerun on TV this weekend. Good show. Thought about the modern players that broke Ruth's HR record taking steroids. Ruth did it with nothing but booze and hot dogs.
later,
Got the outside lights and decorations up today. Did not do lights over porch....yet as do not want to push recovery. Did get swing down that wife could not do. Had to use crow bar to hold eye bolt while using adjustable wrench to turn stubborn bolt. Sometimes you just have to get its attention. I also drove for the first time since the 19th, just to top off fuel tanks in truck and Cruiser. Neither wife nor I could sleep past 5 AM this morning so we got up, had breakfast, read the paper, and went to 7 AM Mass. First time in a long time I had been there. We got there early so we could sit where we wanted. There is no singing at the service, which is different. We did take naps after we got home though. Going back to work tomorrow. There will be lots to do, but I do not have to drive and I will stay in at lunch hour.
Question for all, train related. Has anyone here ordered a Polar Express Trolley? If so, has anyone received theirs? Saw one on eBAY already complete with picture, so I am more than a little bit curious. Thanks for any and all info.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Chief started the Dec. pot early if you want to go there.
