88 - Wifey wants an update on the Q, all better?

Fife - yes she is doing fine. After a few days she was back to normal - for her. Her company has 2 new contracts, and one of them just requested she be listed a 'key personnel' which means most of her time is recorded against that contract... which isn't that bad... problem is the contract called for 5 inspections PER YEAR, she just received a list of 10 TEN that have to be done by the end of September... and a list of 7 that need to be done by 12/31... so much for 5 per year! They are also just made compete for another contract and they are submitting a proposal for another tomorrow... she is going to be very busy for the next few months, and will probably have to double or triple her staff. Oh - and she is still teaching online. Smile

Aloha. Beauty of a day. Got to work early for some strange reason. Had a pleasant weekend, including the World Cup and local beach. The Miniature museum and Chess museum in St. Louis sound neat, Mike. Safe travels to Joe and family. Congrats to your son's great job, Hudson. He's certainly a credit.  Assessing some repairs to kitten-related damage to the layout this week.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy & 76 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Lightning pushing east from Snohizo.  Didn't accomplish a whole lot this weekend.  Did take my sister sailing Saturday, and the weather was perfect.  Afterwords, we ate at my favorite [oX lair.  Steaks on the grill last night.  Back to the grind...42 weeks.

Hot and muggy today with scattered showers. Got the minivan mostly unloaded from yesterday's kid's program at the museum. We had three tables of Brio type wooden trains out, one loop where the kids could run Thomas the train, and a 9' by 18' layout. I had my N&W J Class pulling 14 freight cars, my Texas Special passenger train and a train made up of 'Lionel cars that shoot something'. That one was popular with the kids. My log car and Moe & Joe lumber car were also well received. Chucked traction tires on my Texas Special and Hogwort's locomotives. In fact, the Hogwort's loco was not realy happy on the 36" curves. The drivers on my J class were picking the points on one of the switches going into a passing siding. The pilot would make the turn, but the drivers would not - had to back the train in to clear the main line to let another train out. Tore into the guts of the treadmill this afternoon. We took a lightning strike close to the house a while back, and the treadmill was one of the things damaged - had a dead across the power cord. I was able to narrow the problem down to the motor control board. I suspect that one or more of the SCR's on the board got fried. All for now. Y'a know, someday, I'll have to figure out why I can't make paragraph breaks when I'm using Internet Explorer 11.

Good evening all,

Posted too soon last night as Sarah's driver, Josef Newgarden, posted a 2nd place finish thanks to some nifty late race pit strategy, which gave them new tires with 10 laps to go.  Watched a good World Cup final today as Germany won 1-0 in extra time.  Spent the day getting caught up on newspapers.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Chief sorry to read that all the problems in Roseyville are caused by Yankees.

Must be because NC kids are brought up different than Yanks.

Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck, I'm still in Japan, but today is the last day as we fly out tomorrow evening. The past few days were busy wrapping up loose ends at work and completing the final preparations to move. Yesterday was quite the day as I climbed Mt. Fuji. The summit is just over 12,300 feet high and I made it up in just under five hours. Coming down took about two and a half hours and was tricky due to the steepness of the mountain. It was a fun experience but I did end up with some sunburn. RT - Thanks for the email. Sayonara, Joe

Off to bed.  Tired.  Been riding my 4 wheeler through Jon's property. Laugh  I completely understand.  We have those Yankees who move down here and think woods and fields are theirs. Bang Head Put up cables and signs.  They would pull them up.  Had on trail camera with Dad helping.  Tuesday evening I heard at a meeting one farmer had three kids riding over his soybeans.

Sleep tight.

Evening all,

Picked up the current issue of CTT and just couldn't resist tuning up my old SF NW2, like the one in the article.  Talk about simplicity, eh?  After that was accomplished I tackled something more challenging...an earlier NW2... the C&O 624.  Too late to test run them right now.  Will have to wait for tomorrow.  Night all.

Good evening all,

Good thing we did not go to Iowa race as Sato got taken out by his "buddy", Aleshin.   Otherwise a good day as I got caught up on yardwork.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening all,

Been sick all week starting about last Tuesday.  Thought I got a touch of food poisoning but it might be associated with my Chrones disease.  I don't really know.  I got a little better on Wednesday but got worse on Thursday.  I have been fighting diaharrea ever since.  Hardly ate anything today.  Just a couple of eggs this morning and one piece of toast.  Skipped lunch but had a milk shake which seemed to not bother me.  Stayed in bed until almost 10:00AM this morning.  Very unusual for me.  Plan on staying on bland diet until this thing either clears up or see the doctor next week.

later,

Ray

As to folks who purchase ATVs/minibikes for their offspring, and give zero regard to neighbors or local ordinances,  I show zerotolerance towards them.  I'm famous for telling them, straight to their faces, that my sole focus is to cause them great financial disparity for their choice.  And we'll leave it at that. Coffee

Fife --  I couldn't agree more!  We have had an ATV for years here in our forrest for play and work.  Our outstanding new neighbors also have an ATV for work & play, thank goodness the parents have their heads screwed on straight.  What scares and saddens me more than anything is to see anyone on an ATV under 16 riding a big machine with no regard for their behavior.  I absolutely read every ATV & motorcycle accident report in the paper twice, I pray that I am never in the paper as a statistic.  Way too many people just don't get it.  I know I can't control everything when I'm on those machines but I can control my actions and hopefully enjoy another sunset with my family and neighbors.

Home Depot in deep do do.  Manager made deal last night on Samsung units and now can't deliver.  We asked for 4th of July sale prices as we were lead to the LG by their person.  He said OK and now he can't approve that high of a discount.  Store manger on vacation all next week.  Called Atlanta.  Customer Service said needed to go to Management Team .  Problem is no one is in charge during the weekend at Home Depot.  Have to wait until Monday.  Pi$$ poor operation.  Bang Head

Morning all.  Sunny and warm.  Not much going on but messing with Home Depot over getting another brand of washer and dryer.  The LG washer messed up yesterday.  Refused replacement dryer.  HD working on pricing of Samsungs.  We'll see.

Hope all have a great weekend.

Good evening all again,

Nice visit to St. Louis.  Went to Botanical Gardens, Art Museum, Chess Museum (yes one exists), a Miniature Museum (mostly dollhouses, but some train dioramas as well), Eugene Field House and Toy Museum, and the "new" cathedral.  Did some retail therapy and got a Lego building set, and some HO stuff.  Also picked up the new Lionel Christmas catalog and there is a Polar Express trolley that will be in our house as soon as it arrives.   We went west bound on US 50, which was a nice drive and an alternate to the interstates that had a lot of construction on the way back.  Except for a couple of traffic snags, the trip was very nice.  Nice to be home though.   Sato had a rough day last Sunday. and starts 16th for Iowa.  Sometime the luck will turn for AJ's team.  Will spend Sunday watching the World Cup Final.   Should be a good match.   I doubt if it will be another 7-1 blowout, but I think Germany will win.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

After many moons the Canuck returns.  I see the main fare is still sweet tea and grits.  So nice to see familiar faces that have remained here in the pot.  Renewed enthusiasm has me back playing with trains although I must say the pickin's up here in the Great White North are pretty slim.  The lack of offerings at the LHS's has me planning a trip across the border.  I need something in Legacy steam....or who knows...maybe something in diesel basic black....NYC and not NSSmile, Wink & Grin.  Hope everyone has a great weekend

88 - Already got an estimate at "my" place, but thanks.  If I didn't have plans this weekend, I would have liked to have hitched along to Steeltown with you.  Youngest princess and I are getting ready to hit the court again in a few minutes.  Wedding planning all done, except for Wifey's dress...

Mornin' Fellas

Prepping for the trip to Pittsburgh to work on the rental property tomorrow. REALLY hope this is the last trip and I can get it listed.

Fife - You have some of the strangest stories... Laugh Sucks about Fife-pup's car. If you need a recommendation I can provide one... guy does AWESOME work and has fixed my BMW, TheQ's old 5 series, and her Solara. He is off Falls Rd? Classic Car Repair - ask for Pete. How are the tennis lessons fairing? Wedding planning?

Hudson - that is some awesome news about John-son. Sure you are beaming proud right now!

Don - hope you get the all clear! Sounds like the leg recovery is progressing.

Got some good news yesterday. It appears TheQ's cousin is getting married. That will leave only one left un-wed. She (the cousin) is really looking forward to this and we are very happy for her. Her fiancé is an awesome guy and they make a great couple.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 70 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  "Fished" an atv thief out of my creek yesterday.  Actually, been an odd week at work.  Fifepup's new car was damaged by a hit-and-run driver, while it was parked in a Baltimore City public garage, Wednesday night.  Teetering on whether or not to file a claim (he already made a police report), or go out of pocket.  I'm hating either way.

Hudson - YesCool on John-son.
