My wish for July is to have the rain stop for a couple of weeks and safe travels for everyone.  I haven't checked the rain gauge yet this morning but as of last night we have had over 8" of hard rain since last Thursday.  Not so much fun Umbrella

Tue. 90 Wed. 91 Thur. 92

SP Ray sounds like your cooler is up on the roof, mine is too and I'm no fan of going up there every spring and fall. and its only going to get worse as I get older.. My cooler sump leaked and I coated it with roofing tar. This worked sort of but it dries out over summer and cracks and leaks again.

Home Depot sells stuff in the cooler area made for this and is much better, I forgot the name but its evident if anyone needs it and looks in the cooler area.

Its sort of like thick paint that you coat the sump and I haven't had to redo it for a couple of years.

I"m off to my Tue, morning seniors church group I enjoy.

Dennis, my swamp cooler is on the side of the house but up high so I need a ladder to reach it.  I think the water pump may have gone bad because yesterday it was just blowing hot air.  I also need to get a new water line and a float valve.  Temporarily I have been filling the water pan with a garden hose but you have to do it too often.  I have been waiting for my son to help me.  He came home from Oregon last night but is working today.  He will be home tomorrow so maybe I can work on it then.

Afternoon All.

Finally waking up a bit, Sunday was veg day after Friday & Saturday at the museum. Long hours especially Saturday with the Kid's club. Monday I tried to get the BetterHalf's laptop squared away but I was not successful, off to the shop this afternoon.

It's free Tuesday at the museum, want to see crazy check out the link: http://www.sd3r.org/ .  Glad I'm not there !

Mike C., You can only provide the guidance, what they do with it is beyond a parent's control.

We sure could use some of that excess rain you guys are getting out this way. It's as dry as a popcorn TOOT.

Already got the 4th of July Trains all set-up for Friday, we'll be celebrating at the museum with our spouses coming down for a pot-luck & cookout.

Back to the laundry, no rest for the wicked  weary.

Later all.

Good evening all,

Only one word is appropriate for today:  Dang!  To be fair, the Belgians outplayed us, but it still hurts.  Hopefully the ladies can get some redemption for us next year in Canada.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy July all.

Gearing up for the 4th.

Hope all are well.

Swamp coolers. Believe it or not, the house my parents had in Houston when I was born and lived in until I was 6 had a swamp cooler - in the swamp no less.

Have a great day all!

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Hot.  Wifey is sending me out to the garage to clean it up.  She has that whip firmly in hand.

Youngest Princess and I got back to Fifedom last night.  We logged 470 miles on our visit to my folks' place in WV.  We spent Monday afternoon at Deep Creek Lake, where she paddle-boarded.  She also received a youth compound bow, and it is probably her most prized possession (even more than her i-touch!).  She actually got a bullseye yesterday before we packed up.  Brent, I had an inkling to call, but then we got caught in that ugly weather on 70.

rt - Happy 30th.

Well was trying to wait until page two but figured it would be a while seeing its 2 days later and still on page one lol. Took a bunch of stuff to the auction house still have another item to go up I forgot. but may keep it to see if I can fit it in some where else. I do like that Rocking chair so tomorrow will be rearrange day again been having that a lot lately Big Smile  also need to get chop saw out and make some 6" legs to go under a 4' x 6'  piece of plywood which will have another train loop on on top of my current layout so it will give me a mountain area I guess. or at least a raised area of town may have to figure out how to make a road going up to there from lower area also. may even have a switch to be able to come down a tresel area to the main table and connect in.

Thanks all for the anniversary wishes still don't know how she has put up with me for 30 years.

Well past hour been sitting in my room listening to Pink Floyd ( what I do to relax no lights just the computer  ( using DVD in computer) a division bell DVD. Love this room since got the black out curtains as it will black out the room if the puter wasn't on it would be pitch dark in here.
Not much else happening around here. Think it will be chili-dogs and baked beans tonight   :o Oh boy sounds good to me.
Talk to you all later.

Good Evening,

Still hanging around, was waiting to see what kind of news I would have before I posted.  Went to the Dr today, and have the cast REMOVED !!!  Great News!!  I can actually see my leg again.  Now I have a "cam walker" boot I have to wear.  It is a nylon boot goes 3/4 the way up the calf, and uses velcro straps.  Not the most comfortable thing, but no complaints from here.  Next appointment in August.  He gave me instructions to do more weight bearing up to 100%.  Today its a little sore, but there has been a lot of trama, so I'm sure that will improve.

Talked with the Chief today, his back sore is significantly improved and doing very well.

Kay's situation is doing well and she is progressively improving.  YAHOO !!!

So all is well with us, looking forward to using the Spa and doing some "water therapy".  In the meantime will be doing a lot of foot flexing in the bed to get some range of motion back.  Ive been very fortunate doesn't appear there has been very much atrophy, at least not noticeable.

Congrats RT on the 30 yrs!  Thats fantastic.

When you guys get tired of all the rain just start blowing it back west, we sure need what ever we can get.

Take Care All and Stay Healthy

Good evening all,

Don B, that is great news for both you and Kay!   We won tonight 7-0, which takes some of the sting out of the 9-0 lambasting we got a few weeks ago.  Wife was watching the game tonight for the first time this season.  My teammates said she should be at all the rest of the games (funny they did not say the same about me!).  Quiet, good day at work.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.  Back from lake house.  Surprise surprise!!!  Neighbor at the had mowed my grass.  Yes, the one that had bone cancer and I "tended" his yard for three years, mow it.  Told him thanks and he replied, "Least I could do."  I had to do some weedeating and spray herbicide on edging and stone drives.  Not bad.  Was hot and humid.  Heat indices 109.

Lunch meeting and then Wifey's new fancy super doper washer and dryer delivered this afternoon.

Shake and Bake since he got his cast off.   Dancing in the streets.

Good ole' hurricane headed to the coast.  So what!  A little guy and not a biggie.

Have a good one.

PS: Back has miraculously changed.  From a big bandage to a small Band-Aid strip to protect shirt.  Almost healed.  Hand looks good too but will take a few weeks due to size and depth of hole.

Don B. Great news for you and Kay.  Happy for you.

Chief, glad to hear you're on the mend too.

The tree trimmer guy came today and did the tall palms and a Yucca tree in the front yard.  Did a good job.

Yesterday my son was home and helped me get the swamp cooler going.  We put in new aspen pads on three sides, new water pump, new drive belt and a new float valve.  Got an adapter  for the water spigot and ran a 35 foot water line to the cooler.  Everything works great now.  Now I have an alternative way to cool the house besides our A/C which is running too much.  Have read that the evaporative coolers use only 1/4 of the energy it takes to run the A/C.

Wife and I have been getting along pretty well lately and learning to deal with her problems.  She has another appointment with the neurologist next week but as far as I know the test he ran have turned up no physical reason for her memory loss.  Whatever comes, we will deal with it at least one day at a time.

Got nice call from sister in Virginia yesterday.  The one with terminal cancer.  She has a great attitude and talked my ear off.  I just let her go and tried to be a good listener.  She has decided on having the best quality of life she can with her time left versus taking a lot of useless chemo and being sick all the time.  I respect her decision.  My former next door neighbor did the same thing and passed peacefully.

Hot weather is here to stay now for the rest of the summer.  Don't know what happened to June gloom marine layer?  Didn't get much this year.

Ran trains today.  First time in over a week.  Felt good.

later,

Ray

Good evening all,

Got to play soccer again.  My side lost 12-11, but we had fun.  Work was very quiet.  Lady who likes to make trouble tried to bug me just before I left as she usually does, but I dodged all her comments.  Some possibly good news.  I think the neighbors with whom I have had some discussions over the years about the trees moved out today.   Of course, that always leads to which is worse, the devil you know or the devil you do not know.   Next person there could be much worse in other ways.   Some definitely not good news as my sister called and said her best friend from high school has stage 4 breast cancer.  Not good.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Ray, prayers for you and your wife.

Good to see the regulars still posting.  Especially Roy M.  He stays so busy.  Some of the others seemed to have strayed.  Sad.

Hurricane real close and we can't get measurable rain.  Real breezy.  That's a hurricane for you.  Rotation pushes heaviest rain to the east of the eye.

Sleep tight.

Happy 4th of July!

Ohayo Chuck!  Where are you?

We are four days into July and I'm finally getting my first post written.  Unfortunately, it has been raining all day today so the base's celebration events are not so fun.  However, the rain did not stop this morning's 5K race.  I do not know if the fireworks have been cancelled.  We celebrated the older son's 11th birthday on the 1st.  The youngest child's 4th birthday is Monday.  Our daughter's 13th birthday is the 23rd so July is always a busy month for us.  We have only 10 more days in Japan.  I'm still hoping to climb Mt. Fuji before we leave.

Don B. - I'm glad all is progressing well for you and Kay.

SP Ray - You and your wife are in my prayers.

Mike C. - I'm sorry about the bad news you received.  Your family is in my prayers as well.

Sayonara,

Joe
