Congrats to Banks and family for another blessing into there family.

Hey all, not a lot going on today. Did repair my helium tank car dumping part with a new dump tray repair my 204 with new front and rear trucks yesterday. Still need to add a hook and cover to a tender and a  cover to a caboose and that will be done that about takes care of the order from jeff at train tender oh yeah put the dish on my red satellite car and the one missing set of wheels. But realize I missed a few parts I need ( knew I would ) Laugh. Along with a new ebay snag on the real cheap side will wait for that to get the rest I need. ( picked up a 6560 erie crane, 6844 missile transport car, and a undecorated red caboose. all for less than $31 so did good there. I think the only thing I need is a hook for crane but want to be sure.

Basically just relaxing today. suppose to be cooler next week were actually going to get into the high 60's woo hoo.

Won't last long but will last.

Well you all have a good weekend

Talk to you all later.

Banks, congratulations on the new grand daughter!

Going out to eat tonight at N and Out burger.  Keeping it simple.

Got new contraption installed on my A/C unit today that lets them turn it off during a power over load for 15 minutes each time.  Get some kind of a discount for allowing this.  Guy who installed it locked himself out of his truck and had to call AAA.

later,

Evening all been a kinda busy day now I look back at it first took wife to wal-mart but on the way stopped at golden corral as a surprise lunch she always likes going there. Then cam home and cut 6 1/2 sheets of particle board in 1/2 then cut another full sheet in 1/2 so it made two 4' x 4' pieces for her. then I finally start relaxing and she decides it time to move furniture again. ( she does this more than I can count ) and says I won't need your help 20 minutes later can you help me. Angry

Did get a score on Ebay tonight and really wasn't looking was looking for a 6670 derrick car and came across a 6460 or 6560 red erie crane a 6844 missile caring car and a undercoated red caboose for about what I would normally pay for the crane alone with shipping. So now finally relaxing .

Talk to you all later prayers for those in need and prayers for who don't that they won't need them

Morning all.  Sun is out!!!!!  Big storms and lots of rain [flash flooding] around yesterday evening.  Was going to VA and watch some trains near SIL's house for weekend.  Wifey changed her mind.  OK with me.  Maybe get some Parker's Pond work started.

Frankie's team did a raid on a house in Roseyville.  Got a praising email from one of the ladies that lives there.  How well and professional it was done.  Now the neighbor's feel safe.  Actually I was invited along but opted out due to the storms.  Frankie said they got soaked.

Dennis, if they do not track your IPL, a Gmail account is easy to set up.  Use it only for forum.

A little Banks on the way.  We will wait for cigars [OH, smoking is not nice anymore].  We are happy anyway.

Good to hear about the little "Lionroars".

Here is a culprit at the farm.  Big problem for a kid to cause.  Switching to barrel feeders and putting them on ten foot legs [with conduit driven in the ground 2 feet and slid inside legs, all screwed and bolted together].

New feeder on ground and destroyed.

New feeder before being installed.

The kid foiled from damaging another.

Notice has been sent to Wildlife.  Kid's life is in danger. Whistling

Hope all have a great day.

Don't know what I'm going to do with him, I want to help him, but can't keep up with his misfortunes.  Oh well, will just keep trying, I don't know where else he can turn.

You could always take him out back, tie him to a tree... oh - sorry you meant your friend, not the gantry crane. Big Smile

Been working on reconciling a process between two systems since the 7/1, finally got them to reconcile (or figured out why they weren't reconciling) yesterday... spent all of today working on a validation process and report... I have numbers flying around in my head and I'm starting to dream about this stuff... UGH!

Looking forward to next Friday, Christina is turning 3! Yes 3! Can't believe it will be 3 years since we got her and reflecting on how much our lives have changed since then. Truly blessed to call her my daughter. We are taking the kids to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA... it is kind of a trial run at an amusement park prior to the Disney trip in September. Oh - had her stand in front of a yard stick yesterday morning... she is now taller than a yard stick, I would est 38 inches. She is growing up FAR too fast for Daddy's liking.

Good morning all,

Don B., prayers for a good outcome for Kay in the long run.  You are a good man to keep helping Bob get over his misadventures.  Sounds like he might qualify for the poor soul award.   I'm still up in the air about the disposition of my MTH Santa Fe Premier 4-8-4 with the stripped gear.  I have the phone number of a guy in N.J. that makes gears.  I need to call him.  The TTOS Western president has the engine now but has been unable to do anything with it so far.  If nothing can be done, I suppose I could make a dummy out of it and either push it with a diesel or pull it as a double header with another steamer.  I have been offered $200 for it as a display model but hate to lose it.

Temp. forcast for 102 today here in Glendora.  Ouch!  No time in garage today.  Like an oven in there.  Train running here is a winter time sport.

later,

Ray

Mornin' All.

Well as others have stated the heat is back, 95* yesterday but at least the humidity has dropped a little. Probably 100+ today, Thumbs Down

Craziness has descended upon the S.D. Convention Center thru the weekend. Comic-Con opened this morning, expecting 130k people over the four day period.

Doug M., Would you believe there was a life size Tardis flying around the Embarcedaro last nite. The guy that came up with the other life size flying characters made it as a result of some other items he created. He said after it took flight he was swamped by all the "Whovians" at the convention cemter.

I definitely will not be going to that part of town.

Need to figure out what to pack for the museum tomorrow, maybe I'll wait til after I visit the ENT doc for this never ending sinus crud.

Back later !

Good Morning All,

We're doing pretty good here, Kay has to go through chemo therapy, will start that next week.  Will most likely be three or four sessions three weeks apart.  Dr (Oncologist) said currently she has a 30% chance of reoccurrance, with medication that goes down to 15%, (medication for a year), and chemo reduces risk an additional 5 to 7%.  So that's what's going to happen.

Leg doing OK, has good and bad days, but pretty much what expected, so no great news there.

Decided to work on a lighting project in the back yard.  Put some solar accent lights up, and they look pretty good.  Have some yard pagodas I've had for years, and they use to be lit.  Also, have some old malibu lights that used wedge type bulbs, and the sockets just not tight anymore.  So I kept the transformers (12v including a timer), and the wire.  I had bought some 12-14 v screw type bulbs and sockets for train room, and going to install those in the pagodas, AND the 4 G Scale buildings I have back there.  So now all I'm doing is electrifing and cleaning up each item.  Then when Chris is available will secure them in place.

Had some work done on the El Camino, I've noticed that gas mileage way down, and a hesitation when accelerating.  Took it to "Carburator Land", it has a 4bbl.  Anyway 1/2 of it was running rich, and other 1/2 lean.  And, two non operating sensors.  Had it rebuilt, and new distributor installed.  WOW what a difference!  It really sits you back in the seat, now it acts like the "muscle car" it is suppose to be.  Only bad thing while it was sitting there a crack in the windshield, expanded from about 4" to 10", (car was parked facing west), so having a guy coming out to replace it today.  (only $135, not bad).  Or maybe the crack happened driving it home from all the "G forces".

My buddy Bob, doing well, he brought over a gantry crane that wasn't working.  Tested and tested, finally thought it had a bad bridge rectifier, and power transistor.  Which were available locally for less than $5. Replaced them and functions all came back.  Then as he was operating it a small e-clip retainer fell from the bottom, then a washer, then a plastic gear.  The gear was significantly stripped, due to either overweight lifting, or most likely bucket being pulled against the boom.  So unfortunately it still is not operating.  Don't know what I'm going to do with him, I want to help him, but can't keep up with his misfortunes.  Oh well, will just keep trying, I don't know where else he can turn.

John, Congrats to you and Darcey with the ice cream award!!

Take care all and STAY HEALTHY !!

Don

Summer here(SE Mich) has been just as weird as last winter.

Not a good sign. Lots of days in the 70s, A/C has been off more than on.

Only 2 days have reached 90.

A hot one here too today about 95.  Forcast for 100 tomorrow.  Something in the paper about the ground water East of us in Riverside for example is at it's lowest level in recorded history.  Also photos of a lake in California that is so low that they had to build stairs to get down to it.  Been expecting local gurus to lower the boom on water use soon.  Neighbor wants to know what to do if our lawns go brown this summer.  Only options are rock or cactus gardens.  My back yard is already covered with rock.  Just a little green grass in the front.  Today we had the A/C and the swamp cooler both running.  Edison will love us.  Would love to go to the beach but something comes up every day to prevent it.  Wife has hair appointment tomorrow.  Otherwise would have gone then.  Friday is a bad day.  Maybe next week?

Good evening all,

Another good, quiet day at work.   Had to love tonight's game.  We were down 4-1 early in the second half, but we made a stirring rally to earn the tie with less than 2 minutes to go.  I played the entire game again, and I played well with 5 good touches and a good throw-in.   Wife was along as well and so we have not lost a game with her present.  It cooled off and rained off and on so it was good from a weather standpoint.  Tourney starts next Wednesday, and I like our team's chances.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all,

Loads of rain this morning and cool for this time of year....but then, after last Christmas's ice storm anything seems like summer.

Been tying up some loose ends on one of my other hobbies...radio collecting.  While I'm sure I know just enough of radio repair to be deadly, I have been able to revive quite a few by simple replacing old capacitors and out of value resistors.   One that threw me a curve ball is a really nice late '40's Magnavox Regency console.  By replacing the caps I somehow managed to kill an otherwise fine working set.  After trying to find where I'd gone wrong I finally caved and took it to my radio repair guy guru.  He spotted the issue, hinted where the problem was and let me find it.  I had forgotten to transfer one of two wires going to a new cap.   grrrrrrrrrr!

Bought myself a lightly used MTH RailKing PRR Torpedo which really runs nice but takes a distant second to my K-Line example.  Ordered the Lionel 2 car add-on set of PRR 15" FOM diner and baggage to add to my K-line FOM set.  ETA October.  What time is it?Sigh

Hello all

Sitting in the Denver airport waiting for the flight to Phoenix. Only good thing about airports is they have open wireless networks. I'd much rather sign up for another 8 years in the Navy than fly commercial. If it were a Ford trimotor or something w/ an open cockpit I'd be a bit more interested.

The trip via the bus and the Southwest Chief is only about $100 more. I think next time I just spend the extra bill and budget in anther half day or so

Bringing home w/ me a Lionel whistling freight station circa early 90's, Conrail O-27 box car circa 1986, and a tinplate girder bridge of unknown origin along w/ a bunch of radio control stuff that had been hanging out in Mom's garage. Most of this was shipped in a box yesterday.

I think tomorrow I will try and set up the whistling station and run some trains. Still have yet to run the Santa Fe K-line S2 so I think I will break that out.

Jet - propelled pringles can w/ wings has just arrived so I guess we will start boarding in the moderate near future.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Good.  Went to see "my" soccer girls scrimmage tonight.  It was not pretty as they lost 10-0.   Hope that is not a portent of the season ahead.   Some sad news today.  Learned Train Express will be closing soon.   Was probably my biggest source of O and Std. gauge material over the years.   I think the manager was just wanting to retire.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
