It is a dark and rainy 65 degrees.  Going up to 82 today with rain all day.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores and some paperwork to do. Then I can relax and listen to the rain. Lunch and a nap, later.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

SPMAN, hows the Big BOY doing?

DOUG M,  how'd DA BEARS do in da draft?

Aloha. Another beautiful day in Paradise uh Chicago. A nice weekend was had - hope the bride felt celebrated as a mom. Isn't it Hudson John's birthday? Hope you have a great day!  Laz, the consensus among Bears fans is they picked OK. Their highest pick was a CB (when they really needed a safety - but doesn't everybody?), then two DTs, a RB, QB they'll try to convert and a punter. The defense got some help...

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Thank heaven for headphones and CDs as the co-workers were chatty today.   Muggy here but lots of rain and a cool down coming.   Do not have to drive everyday this week.  Only Sarah's number one driver had any speed today.  Not much else going on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening !!

Happy Birthday,  John  Happy B-DayHappy B-DayCake

We had a great Mother's Day, family get together and BBQ.  Weather could have been better, twas a bit windy.  Suppose to be that was till Wednesday I think.  Wednesday we are suppose to get up to 100.

Of course the wind has been causing some grief for the FD, but fortunately mostly small fires.  Today the LA River was on fire for awhile.  The river is in a concrete channel, and in the downtown area there are actually trees and underbrush in the channel.  So that is what was on fire.

That was some fundraiser the Chief was involved with on Saturday.  I had never heard of Cow Pie Bingo, sounds like fun!

I talked with him on Sunday, asked him about it.  He told me it didn't work too well, apparently the Cow was constipated, and was only being contained in the grid by yellow tape.  And the announcer had the cow spooked so it was running out of bounds, and the crowd was chasing it, trying to keep it in bounds.  And it just wanted to go home.  Should have been hilarious.

Got a busy week in order.  Tuesday going to a retirement party for one of the guys at the railroad at Knott's.  Should be interesting seeing everyone,  I'm sure they will be surprised to see I'm still wearing the cage.  And, will be curious when I'm coming back.  Then Wednesday have leg X-Ray, and Pre-OP tests in preparation for Pre-Op Dr visit on Friday.  Seems getting things done very early since surgery isn't until the 23rd.  But, I will make sure everything is ready, sure don't want anything to be delayed again.

Then Saturday we have Chris' Graduation from CSUF.  Really surprised the ceremony is so early, it starts at 8am, for the University portion, then immediately following that is another ceremony for the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.  Kay got me a new pair of "dress" shorts for the event.  Was hoping I would have been walking for it, but can't even get a pair of long pants on.  So much for that idea.

Been watching some train videos, a friend of mine gave me a couple sets of videos on the Cajon Pass (12 hrs), and the Tehacapi Loop (8 hrs).  Only have seen the Cajon Pass so far, but it sure was great.  I've been through it 3 times on Amtrak, but what is frustrating is that all 3 times were between midnight and 4am.  Which really ticked me off.

So I guess that's about it from here, so just be Safe and Stay Healthy!

Hello all

Another quiet night on the mountain.

Cow pie bingo?!  Did you hear about the last time Chief lost his hat in a cow pasture? Tried on three before he found it...Wink

Don - congrats on your son's graduation. Hope they let you out of the cage soon.

John - happy birthday!

Got the Jensen steam engine repaired, cleaned, and running this week. Eventually it will go in a model boat. Been working on dimensions for the boat based off of some plans I have. Going to be on the order of 3' long minus the paddle on the stern. Should be big enough to support the boiler and engine and still be a workable size. Found out from a friend tonight there's a lake where folks run r/c boats just a couple miles from the house. Now that's handy:)

Mornin' Fellas

What difference a week makes! I've been on this steroid for a week now and The Shingles are pretty much dried up. Most of the redness is gone. One more day of steroids then call Dr on Thursday to schedule the vaccination. Need to call eye Dr and get in for contacts and new glasses. Christina has her first dentist visit on Thursday, I can't be there due to work but TheQ will take her. Big news on the potty training front - Christina is now potty trained! Thumbs Up She he been an amazing little trouper through this and you can tell she is very proud to no longer need pull-ups during the day. Matthew still isn't walking... but he apparently likes when women wear nylons... Laugh

John - Cake hope it was a good one!

Fife - we really need to get together... let me check my schedule and I'll shoot you an email.

Don - Chris is graduating already??? Seems like he just started a year or so ago... man time flies.

Had a guy come out last night to quote us a new heatpump for the house. Didn't realize we've been in the house for 7 years and married for 8. Can't believe TheQ has put up with me for this long!

Aloha. Dodging thunderstorms this morning but enjoying the humidity and warmth - especially since we're supposed to go back to late March temps tonight. Sigh. DonB, did you see any of the videos of the Big Boy traversing the country a week ago? Glad you're feeling better, Brent.

Doing chores after walk.  91 degrees today they say.  Garden Club meeting tonight and then off to the lake house to mow and etc. for a few days.

Hope all are doing OK.

Good morning all,

Don, congratulations to Chris on graduation.  You will be more comfortable in shorts anyway.  I think you will enjoy the Tehachapi vidoes too.  Lots of tunnels and curves up there.  Always liked it better from a railfan prospective but too far from home to go often.

I have a doctor appointment this AM at 11:00AM for regular check up.  BP medicine causing side effect of coughing.  Will ask about that.

Happy birthday JohnHappy B-DayHappy B-Day

Happy Birthday John! Cake

Sure enjoyed seeing you guys at York. Thank Doray again for the ice cream!!!

Finally got around to upgrading a Pennsy Atlantic I bought new many years ago to Command Control and Railsounds. Was one of Lionel's first modular TMCC units. When I bought it they did not have the Command version and the Traditional version was a good deal. Bought the upgrade boards just a few years ago at York (another good deal). Only had to remove the signal sounds board, signal sounds power board, and a Jumper  board where the R2LC (or R4LC) board goes in the loco. Unfortunately Lionel quit offering the correct electro coupler for this older upgrade so some grinding and spacers were required. In the end it turned out well but as usual a 45 min project turned into a 2 hour project.

Had a nice catch up chat with Don B the other night.

Hope all are well.

Regards, Roy

Honey, what's for breakfast...?

Nut-N-Honey !

Howdy All.

Belated Happy B-Day to John !

Outside at 4:30am picking up pots that the wind had knocked over, blowing hot and hard set the stage for today's fires. A few small ones in the east county, but the worst one was west of us in the Fairbanks Ranch area. Don't think there are any properties less than the mid 7 figure range. Lots of evacuations but at last report there were no major structure damage. Another day or two and hopefully the weather cools dow

Had my annual physical today, resulted in two new referrals as well as a long overdue tetanus shot and the Shingles vaccine. Should have gotten it a long time ago after the "BetterHalf" had her bout with it.

Brent hope your episode is gone. That stuff can be reaal serious depending on which nerves it attacks, even blindness in some cases. Ain't nuthin to fool with.

Time to call it a nite.

Almost forgot, Congas to Don & Kay for the graduate !

Anybody heard from Jack ?

Mornin' boys.  Damp start in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Put your money on a "mudder" for Preakness.  While on the yatchet, found the source of my water entry, a cockpit drain hose had detached, clamps and all.  Probably happened during winter storage, possibly when thieves took my aluminum swim ladder from the cockpit locker...  Wifey informed me that oldest Princess and her frog found a venue...now we need to come up with a down-payment...

cnw1995---> CakeHappy B-Day  No cake for me, thank you. Sigh

Hudson - Doctor said no more lemon ice cream for me, too...Broken Heart

dougnotta - At least the easterly winds help clear the air in So-Cal, right...?  RockIsland seems to be on sabbatical.

Aloha. Grey and much cooler for my birthday (more like March - brrrrrr)- thanks for your good wishes (I will have to find a healthy cake for Fife). Hope to get some expensive British model railroading magazines to go with the usual CTT and Trains tonight.  Must now go around the Loop collecting birthday coffee and other free thingies from various shops.  Smile

Afternoon Fellas

Cake Doug!

Hudson - Yes he is... Age apparently doesn't matter to him! I've seen him nearly get whiplash checking out a toddler, hang his tongue out looking at a teenager, try to expose a few 20 and 30 somethings, and feel up his pediatrician! Kid's got some moves already!

At dinner last week TheQ and I were watching the kids... we've come to the conclusion that Christina is going to be valedictorian of her class and Matthew is going to be a fraternity president. Christina will graduate from college in under 3 years and Matthew will rival Bluto from Animal House for longest time spent in college! Laugh

Fife - sounds good - I know we are busy the weekends of 6/21, 6/28, 7/5.

Doug - I never knew Shingles was a nervous system disease until I got it. It is amazing how much this disease hurts!

Got a good report yesterday from my doctor on check up.

Forcast for 101 degrees today and tomorrow.  Wish we lived closer to the beach.

Dinner out tonight at Italian restaurant with friends.  Hope they have something not too spicey.  Maybe get something with the white sauce.
