Good Afternoon:

Mack did good at the vet today. His new blood test showed his blood glucose in the normal spectrum but on the lower side. We have to keep an eye on him.

Happy Anniversary to Doug M and Charlie Brown and their wives. A gift tip: Pandora Bracelet and when you can not think of something just add to it.

Brent:  I checked out the track cleaner after you mentioned it at York. It is on my list too.

Doray said to tell you guys that her sister Linda makes the ice cream and both of them are glad that you guys like it.

Jake: A "Brain" and a "Jock", what a combo.

Off to school.

John

John.....    "in range" is good, even if low in range.  Check with your vet and ask her/him if you should buy dog food/kibble with a higher carbohydrate content for Mack.  That might increase the amount of sugar intake/production in his diet.....may help elevate the daily sugar levels.

Remember what the diabetics say.  Carbs turn into sugars that a diabetic's pancreas has a tough time countering with adequate natural insulin production.  So Mack is kind of the reverse of a diabetic with an overproductive pancreas and too much natural insulin?

Chief,

Be careful with Chrome.  Google likes to track things.  I've been running Firefox and IE10.

Jake,

Your post brought back memories of football and dodgeball during high school.  They wouldn't let our class play dodgeball after a while though.Whistling  Nothing like running for your life in phys ed.Smile, Wink & Grin

Brent,

As if rubbing in York wasn't enough, you've got me hunting for a 671 now.Smile, Wink & Grin

Got some very good news after work today.Thumbs Up  More on that asap.

Evening all just read Richie Havens passed away today. Another great artist from the original Woodstock in fact he was the first to perform with the song Freedom.

Well been waiting for the mail man so I could mail a couple of packages 6:50 P.M. no mail man yet will just mail it in the morning myself  I guess.

Guess I will start working on the layout some more tonight tired of waiting for the mailman and once I get on the table thats it. not going to kill myself getting off to give him the packages.

Well I'm off the next 7 days so time to get a lot done the floor in the laundry room like I did the train room seeing I have plenty left over from that lol hope to paint my office so can put some shelves up there also to put some of these trains on.

Sunny and about 70 here today.  It is starting to cloud up and the bottom is supposed to fall out of the temperature for the next couple of days.

88 - I wonder how well the cleaning pads for the track cleaning cars you are looking at would work on an old postwar Lionel unit?  I'll do some measuring to look for possibilities.  The price is certainly low enough for an experiment.

V8 -  are those Alcos you are bidding on 210's or 211's?  I keep half an eye out for a good bargain on these and occasionally bid - not real successfully, though.

Had to take the SS into the dealer today.  Driving back to the office after lunch the check engine light came on, and the message center told me that the engine was on reduced power.  I'll say it was reduced - the car couldn't stay out of it's own way!  The computer seems to limit the intake pressure to 10" of vacuum in this mode.  All I can do is to wait to see what the dealer finds.  It was headed into the dealer pretty soon for normal maintenance anyhow.....

All for now.

Good Afternoon everybody.

John,Banks,SJ,and Kev Thanks for the anniversary well wishes.

Congrats Doug M on your 24th. We were married in Oklahoma and the one thing I remember is it was super windy!

I kinda got lucky on the gift deal. I bought her a Kindle not to long ago so she counted that and my purchase of ryobi tools over the weekend was mine.

I want to work on the platform tonight but I think the wife has other ideas! I don't mind the time this is going to take to construct but I'm going to need to set up a small temporary layout to at least run something.

Well the visit to the doc went off well this morning. He checked out the usual things on the general exam plus I told him about something that's happened just with the last couple of weeks. I've been having nerve pain, quite severe nerve pain developing in my right arm and going all the way to the fingertips, making them very sensitive, so much so that just touching the fingertips together is painful. It feels like needles going into them. He's put me on gabapentin which is used for treating partial epileptic seizures. My mother would have been very familiar with this drug. It's also used to treat certain types of nerve pain. I'm not liking the list of possible side effects but they're no worse that those of other meds I already take.

allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
worsening of mood, thoughts or actions of suicide or dying.
    constipation.
difficulty walking or controlling muscle movements.
    nausea.
    slurred speech.
    tremors.
    weight gain.

I'll just have to wait and see if it makes things better or worse. It may not work for me at all. The worsening of mood could be a real attention grabber! I'm not sure my native American temper can get any worse. It's gotten me in plenty of trouble in the past and has been known to clear out more than a few bars in my younger days.

No layout work today as I've been busy with some other things. Be back later.

The temp is 55

Another lazy day but I will get out and going tomorrow. Groceries and some errands will start my day. The added detail to this new Williams engine is considerable but I know the volume needs to be higher if you want to hear it pull a train. We have Banilla for the guys tonight so belly up to the bar...S.J.

Late Evening...

DougM & CharlesB - Congas on 24....funny, If'n I stayed I'd be on 24 this year as well....Smile, Wink & Grin.

Yesterday was a good day, today not so much....yesterday walked to my Sister's house and that was the hi-light of the day.  Did talk to my Princess LATE Saturday night, maternal issues....go figure Bang Head.  We didn't solve the worlds problems, but she has her head screwed on right, just needed a bit of (fatherly influenced) focus.

I sorted out all my papers today and got them into a binder so that's done.

No word on Miss Nora's Dad and I'll take no news as good news.

If tomorrow is the same as today, I think I'll drag out all the under bed boxes and see what I have, which should be a surprise cuz I don't remember....Laugh

I have a quandary - a financial one - more answers tomorrow, and good ones, I hope....

Glad you Yorksters had a good time.  Looking forward to Brent's pictures...Maybe I'll make it in October...

Jeff - glad you are feeling better...

Off to bed

Feeling good this morning. Will have to have finger prints taken later today to get cleared for summer work here at Towanda seeing as to how I'm not going to be a student at Towanda in a short amount of time.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Overcast and a chilly 46 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Still can't put the Paradise tree out on the front porch for fear of frost.  Fifepup went gobbler hunting for the first time.  Didn't get off a shot, but enjoyed learning and camping out.  Alexis begins her first day "back" to school, via skype, today.  I finally got one of the lines on my layout operational.Yeah  Still have to trace the short on the other.  Wish I had Roy here.

KRM - It's hard to gauge the performance of the Lionel General by what is posted.  Usually, a negative post over reliability starts, then eventually someone defends the little engine.  At best, they are meant to pull half a dozen cars, but then again, their prototypes were only meant to pull that many.  On the O-ther forum, Seayak Bill posts some photos of the LCCA General.  Trust me, these engines are absolutely beautiful, with all the "bling".  I was "doomed" as soon as Brent pointed them out to me.  Hope to get mine by Friday.

anjdevil - Hope all gets better soon, Rich.Angel

Good Mornin' Y'all From Cold and Rainy Taxachusetts,

I made the mistake last night trying to post from my smart phone, a debacle.  Spent half my day on Grampy duty and tutoring my elder granddaughter.  Despite my best efforts, her grades continue to rise across the board and her standardized testing is doing the same. Thumbs UpLaugh

Snow now and then warm temperatures later in the week out in Colorado and the Dakotas, means more run-off to a water-challenged area of our country.  Prayers for those affected.Angel

Jeffrey.....glad you are feeling a tad better, sure hope that the new meds the Doc prescribed help you, and that the side-effects are nil.  What a pain, literally and figuratively.  Hang in there, buddy!!! Angel

Rich......prayers continue for your ExGF's Dad continue.Angel  I also hope your Docs get a handle on your own mystery.....not enough beer in your diet perhaps?  With the under the bed stuff, my bed could never collapse.  My wife has a few hundred paperback novels stashed under there and it has been this way for about 15 years.  Bang Head

JimmyT........ouch!!!! SurpriseSad  Expensive way to get a woman's telephone phone number.Laugh

Fife......how is the Princess progressing, hope she continues to make good progress.  MikeC.....have not heard a recent update on your Princess either, and I hope for the same for her. Angel

Jake........I remember flag football well, a violent sport.  Technically speaking, you cannot jump on a guy and tackle them.  Practically speaking, I recall that one defensive guy would "accidentally" put a shoulder to your lower legs while the other would then walk over and pull the flag.  Hard on the knees.SurpriseSmile, Wink & Grin

V8.....with the Amazon gift card ya shoulda bought some fuzzy dice to hang from the Del Sol rear view mirror, or one of those skull and cross bones gear shift knobs.Stick out tongue

8N.....I do not envy your car predicament, unless you are still under warranty. Surprise

RJ.......it is a lot safer to never give anniversary gifts on the actual date.  Preferable....early or late as a routine.  Then you are never in the dog house or out just trying to make a deadline.  [swg]

Fife........I don't mess around.  I have 6-barrel abs, not six pack abs. BeerSmile, Wink & Grin

Gotta run.  Later gang.

RockIsland - She goes back to surgeon on 29th.  I'm thinking back to school soon.  Different topic:Saw a handsome set with RI General at YORK, but just didn't suit what I wanted.  At the price ($225), probably kick myself in the future.

Good morning, Cloudy and had a tad of rain last night with more on the way this afternoon. I think I will stay in and work on the addition today and keep the truck clean. I washed the truck and mowed some yesterday in the 70 degree weather we had.
8N, reduced power mode is not a good mode to be in. It usually means something bad is going on. Good luck
Jim, good news on the good news whenever you can tell us. I have IE but I don’t know how to tell which one I have. I have been using Chrome and it is much faster. I thought they all track? I had FireFox but did not like it.
Doug and RJ I hope you guys had good anniversaries yesterday. Yes
Jeffery nerve pain is no fun. I have had three surgeries on my left unlar nerve in the 90s and it still gives me fits. I was on Vicodin for seven years and just decided to quit and live with the pain. Angry
Rich I hope they get your medical issues figured out. Sucks not knowing. Angel
BOC, Great news.   Big Smile
Jake. I had my fingerprints taken once but I won’t go into that. Mischief
Fife, I hope you right about the Generals, I really like the Rio Grand black one with the snow plow I saw in the RTR catalog but I don’t know the number because our granddaughter took the catalog home. Hmm potty material. Laugh And thanks for the link.

Have a good one.

Aloha. Went out for pizza to celebrate anniversary. Bought along my youngest's friend too. Looks like rain later today. Boy, when my train crossed the Des Plaines river this morning, the bridge barely clears the water level. I wonder what the rules are about that.  Great news, BoC!

I was in Ottawa on Saturday morning and that is where the Fox river runs into the Illinois river. The Fox was so high that the water level was above the bottom of the Rock Island / now CSX bridge that crosses the Fox and so the water was blowing around the bridge but there were still a line of cars sitting on the bridge. So I wonder too what the rules are about that.
