Rich,

Brent,

Where the pictures at?Smile, Wink & Grin (Just kiddidng, whenever you get a chance)

Talked to the ins. co.  Since I don't have their "OEM policy" I am SOL unless I want to pay the difference.Bang Head  What don't they mention this earlier?

I am putting it back to 100% stock, and I'll start all over once I get it back.  I will be removing any upgrades that can be removed easily so the shop doesn't claim they are "damaged" and make them disappear.

I am already at $1,265 to replace items out of my pocket that wouldn't be covered.  I am probably looking at $4K minimum to get it back where it was.

Charlie B., go with the 72" curves.  Makes trains look a lot more like real railroads.  Then you do not have to worry about running large scale cars or engines.  Takes up a lot of real-estate but worth it in the long run.  I do have some 054 switches in some sidings.  I used a lot of 072 Y switches for switching yard.  Longer but puts tracks closer together.

After getting a few replies I think this is exactly (072) what I'm going to run for the main curves. Still debating running the 031 curves on an inside track or siding.

First off, Rich, sorry about the X girlfriend's dad. Sometimes it is best. Hope you and yours improve and you can see your daughter soon.

My day was a total reversal from what I had planned. I got a call at 9;45AM to make A run for the dealer to pick up a customer's car  so I said sure. I went in and made the run and when I got back and was ready to punch out they come up and say.  Hey Kev, would you consider working full days on Wednesday every week? I said sure I can try that so they said good, can you start today? So I drove all over North Central IL. today and i guess I will be doing it every week. Train money!!! Yes Easy work, just driving around and getting some cash to play with too, and I get to drive all kinds of cars and trucks.

Other than that not much, The wife still had me cook dinner, so I did baby-back ribs with a salad and Cottage Cheese. Dinner

Maybe some train work tomorrow?

RJ, A thought to consider.  Beware of the large curves. They can cost you a ton of money. As DougM points out, he runs 027 so he can't be temped into those $1,500.00 + engines that will only run on 072. Surprise Wink Whistling

BTW I have my inner loops with lesser curves.

RJ I went to O-72 as I had cars which would only run on O-54 and larger curves ( didn't know it till I got them in. But love them) Atlas scale 33,000 gl tank cars there like 17" coupler to coupler. Not sure of your dimentions by what looks like a bar but if you only have 6' they might not work as you might be over lapping or scraping the walls as you go around.

Prayers out for Mike and Rich and families.

I'm in Nashville for training - working about 9 hours but they give us 45 minutes for lunch.  No wheels, but I plan to spring for a cab to check out the Union Station this weekend.  Catching up on reading some books I had stacking up at home, plus phone time with friends and family and chat on the thing-a-ma-bob.  I checked out the new Lionel catalog - no new heritage set or halloween stuff for Jimmy I see.  I am just not interested in that Lincoln set.  I wish they would do some more of the really old ones though.  How about some more British stuff?  Oh well, Char called and said the van was having problems accelerating and especially on hills - sounds to me like the exhaust system - there went all my per diem pay (aka train money) Crying

TTFN - Tardis will be along in a while.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

No layout work today. The FP7's and the geeps got a good run though. Went to my fathers place for lunch. Pinto beans, cornbread, collard greens, home fries. I had dinner at home tonight. Chimichangas topped with jalapenos, pepper and Tabasco. The geeps (GP7, GP35, F slug, GP7) are getting a good run right now. I've had these Bachmann GP7's for at least a couple of years and they still run whisper quiet. Looks like there's a small chance of rain tonight and tomorrow.

Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Woke up to sunshine and a dusting of snow this morning.  The snow didn't last long, though.

The SS is still at the dealer, waiting on delivery of the needed parts.

Not much else going on.

Good morning. It's 48° with 92% humidity. The high will be 72°.

Today I intend to work on the layout a bit. Cleanup mostly. Right now I'm getting ready to move the geeps onto the Sundown shop track and give my Atlas Trainmaster and Atlas U30E645 a run.

Fife will be doing some diaper changing today. Whistling

Bright sun, mid 40s and going to the upper 50s today, then warming up over the weekend.

IDOT has been running trucks in and out of Marseilles loaded with flood damaged furniture and personal items to help with the clean up for three days now. Barges are still stuck in front of the dam and 4 of the 6 have sunken to the bottom of the river.  They have a massive crane on site and claim they can get them out. Hmm Bad but nothing like Sandy where you had wind and water.

Mornin' Fellas

Sorry about the delay. Been dealing with an infant and a toddler in the evening and have been bush whacked. Last night we put the sunroom back together Thumbs Up man does it look nice now. Still have to do some touchup paint on the ceiling about the edges, but that will wait till I have to fix the darned sunlight wells again... and I am not looking forward to that because the next 'fix' is going to require some significant demo work...

Prepping for Mammy and Pappy's visit this coming weekend. My father is going to help me build the frame and shelf for the mirror in Christina's room - yes the same one I started 12 months ago... don't ask.

Dad also wants to see the progress on the train garden, so we may even do some work on that while he is here... we'll see.

Fife - enjoy Fifepup!

I was wondering about hitting the wall. I had posted that I was looking for a chart that posted the measurements for the curves. I'll measure across from the bar to the wall tonight to see what I have for width on that end.

Yes i agree with ya Kev on the buying bigger and more expensive locos if I go to wider radius but is any of this really inexpensive? lol

We have a chilly start to our Thursday with cold air still in place. Clear skies early in the day, but we will see clouds begin to build as a weak low pressure system tracks north of Michigan. This will bring late morning rain/snow showers that can continue into the afternoon. We'll top out well below average in the mid to upper 40s with winds out of the SW between 15 and 20mph. Tonight will be a cold one as we drop to the lower 30s and winds lighten up a bit. Now for the good news! We will finally see some warming tomorrow with partly cloudy skies and temperatures climbing into the 60s. Your weekend looks to be pleasant as well with plenty of sun and temperatures above average. Enjoy!

Where the heck is spring??

I have a couple of nasty service calls today. One requires two ladders. It has a steep roof. You have to put one ladder on the balcony just to get to the roof. The other ladder you have to place over the stink pipe to get up toward the top peak. Then you have a  five foot climb on the steep roof with no ladder to a three foot tripod. (that you hope to get ahold of or it is a long drop to the ground)

Have a great day!

I am certainly glad that I can say I join Fife, Brent, and Kevin today with my own "children" duties.  I have been duly informed that I have video camera duties tonight at my granddaughters' school play in which she has a solo singing part.  My plan is to get there early, stake out a primo spot so I can get an unobstructed video clip, set up a tripod, and execute said duties.........so the family can view the video ONCE OR TWICE and file it away with all of the million other stills and videos I have been asked to take. Bang Head

Once upon a time, captured video and still photo memories were family treasures because there were so few of them, relatively speaking.  Now, with everyone walking around with cell phone video and still cameras, every waking moment of the children is captured and "stored."

As I see it, the most important contributions I am making to my family tonight is to enable others to sit back and enjoy the show while I film.  As long as Victoria feels loved and supported, it is all worth it.  I figure down the road I can always pull out the video and tease her, like when she reaches dating age and some boy shows up.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Morning all not a lot going on here today. plan to do a little more train layout work first thing I want to do is clear room to cut last piece of carpet for the table top and let it flatten out for a day or so before stapling it down.

RJ yeah the atlas tanker made my decision to go wide curve but no the engines that take O72 curves probably never make it to my layout not saying there not worth it just can't see spending about $1000 for a engine.

Well breakfast is done time to get on to some chores so I can do some train work later.

Talk to you all later hope you all have a good day.

Aloha from a sunny and cold northeastern Illinois. I enjoyed a TARDIS visit last night. Cream of wheat with flax and brown sugar for breakfast this am. Busy day of work. Kev, congrats on the train-money-producing work-day. Brutus, hope you can get out this weekend. There's some nice sights to see in Nashville.

Afternoon.  Early out to Human Services Board meeting [7 AM Crying].  At least you get breakfast.  Take my own coffee as theirs is horrible.  Sunny and real warm.  Wifey home today and tomorrow.  She is working her flowers and shrubs.  Think I will set out my tomato plants [some 3' tall], peppers and squash.  Rain forecasted did not materialize.

Charlie B, 5 1/2 inches curve clearance will clear the Lionel Scale Big Boy.  I ran both main lines at 72".  Inner tracks 54".

Speaking of forum software.  I had to get IT at CTT to work on my profile.  Could not make any changes at all.  Think it was a Yankee conspiracy. Whistling  Fixed  now.  Check it out. Laugh
