Konnichiwa,

As predicted, the weekend’s weather has started out great: sunny and pleasant with a high in the low-60s.  I’ve been outside most of the day cleaning up the patio, porch, and yard.  The grass hasn’t grown too much but enough for a quick clip and some trimming.  The patio and porch needed a good hose down due to all the winter buildup.  The wife is at the store now picking up some soil and flowers.   The Yanks won after two days of rainouts and have seemed to figure out how to win again.  I don’t have much else planned for the day.

Banks – I’m sorry about Buddy.

RJ – There is plenty information on layout building on the website and in the forum.  You can use the search functions to find anything you’re looking for more information about.

Ryan – It’s never good to keep all that bottled up so share whatever you’re comfortable sharing.  Either people will listen and offer support or simply ignore the post, but you’re not hurting anyone so nobody should complain.

Jake – There are countless scholarship opportunities out there.  If your school doesn’t have a list, you can find one online or at the local public library.  Some of them may not be $40K, but any amount will help.  Most of these scholarships are unknown to the masses so they are easier to win.

I’ll pray for all of us in need.

Sayonara,

Joe

Mornin' boys.  Still dark and 45 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Middle Princess home for "birthday weekend", and they all took Wifey out for shopping and dinner.  Gonna sneak down to the boatyard in the AM to put some finishing touches on the yatchet, then book the travel-lift.

anjdevil - Angel for all of your needs.

Banks - Angel for Buddy...and for you.

Demay - Kinda easy to win when the other team runs itself into a triple play.  But then again, CC has the O's number.

RockIsland - Idea Hey, speaking of which, seems like Crabtown has Beantown's number(s)...

good morning guys.

the prayers and support  is much apprciated

I really wanted tp sleep in today...  but here it is 630 EST wide awake

Jake / lehigh apply for AS MANY scholarships as possible.  if your haveing trouble finding them, go see your guidance counsler, thats what they are there for, and you parents taxes pay there salary anyway.... use it  I just hope your GC isnt as big as butt hole as mine was.  Mine told me Votech , VICA and A tech school like Penn Tech were wastes of time and the I would end up being no body.   NICE!

Penn Tech is easy to get scholarships for.  I got one for 5K from the school for taking 2nd place PA state Champion in industrial Motor control for VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America)

I might get dressed and run into town to the farmers market and get some bacon and eggs and taters

gotta go get truck parts ordered, and hit the LHS to make a payment on my pile of "I want this stuff, and dont have any money  right now" Whistling

And to top it all off, I am batting a million this week, since the truck is down, I have been using her spare car (a mustang)

I went to turn around in the drive way yesterday Am,  and caught the turn signal assembly on the three way pintle hitch on the truck, and tore half the grill out , and the headlamp / turn lamp assembly  Bang Head

so, we'll get those parts order today as well........Black Eye

see ya all later

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cloudy and cool 40 degrees. Going up to 48 today with , maybe, some sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores to do and then a train project to work on. I'll enjoy that until lunchtime.  Then, a nice nap. Nascar race and ballgame this afternoon.  Indians played a good game last night. And they won  1 - 0.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Rich, prayers for the friend. Angel and you problems.

Banks, Thanks again for the help with the Loco. It had started to start out shaky and then would go and acted like that for months.  A lot of sparks off of the brushes too but then she just quit.

Ryan, what do they say? If was not for bad luck I would not have any. Whistling

Sorry to hear about your dog Buddy. They become very close. Angel

Chuck, thanks for reminding me the race is today.

Well I have to take the wife's car into the body shop to see what the damages are.Tongue Tied

Will check in later.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Overcast Taxachusetts,

Rich......you have my prayers.  CHF.....not good.  But it's progression can be blunted with treatment and lifestyle changes and the prognosis can be good if caught early enough.  Angel

Jake......I have to agree with the others about going after the scholarships.  The price of education has gone up so much that post high school degrees are a real challenge for your generation.  You neither want to be forced to skip it or put yourself in a deep financial hole lasting into your 30s to get that degree.  The $$$ is there for the taking, but you really have to beat the bushes and cover a lot of bases, stay on it like a shark.  Your guidance counselor, as Ryan suggested, is a good start.  The money is out there for those who go get it, and you DESERVE a pice of the pie!!!  I did not have the $$$ myself either, but the corporation I worked for was willing to pick up the tab 100% with the caveat: I deliver Bs or above and THEN they would reimburse me, took me 5 years at night going to school year round while balancing work and my personal life.  If I had it to do all over again, and my parents were willing, I would have lived at home after high school and skipped marriage!!!!! WhistlingLaugh

Brent.....just teasing you! Smile, Wink & Grin

FIFE........please stop goofing off and get the yatchet in the water, for us!!!!!  We will bring the Beer Pirate

Later.  Gotta go feed the puppy.

Banks

........Missed my usual post this AM. Not a good day. Had to have Buddy our 7 year old Doberman put down. Vet said It was Heart/Lung issues. He has been slowing down even more than usual the last while. The heat earlier this week really bothered him and last night it hit him hard. Coughing, panting and he could barely walk. I got him to the vet today but he said there wasn't much we could do. (My guess is he had a heart attack) Mrs & I are kicking around the idea of another Dobe.(Buddy was our 4th) If we get one I'd like it to be mid June so it is well acclimated before Mrs goes back to school. Danny the Toy Poodle seems lost. It's only been 13 months since we lost Lucy.

...........Best head t bed. We've got a whole beef to wrap and freeze tomorrow. I also have to place Buddy with his predessors under the pear tree up on the hill. (too much rain & mud today)

BANKS......you have my prayers at the loss of your Doberman, Buddy. You know how I feel about dogs and Dobermans in particular.  The loss of one's loyal friend after 7 years cuts to the core.  Don't know if this is what hit Buddy, but DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) accounts for over 40% of premature death in Dobermans.  It is a silent killer and is not detected by owners and veterinarians until it has progressed to the symptom point. By then you are out of time.  You did your best.

Rest in peace, Buddy.  You are gone but will never be forgotten. Angel

Good morning. It's 54° with 80% humidity. The high will be 78°.

Nothing special planned for today. There's still more cleanup to be done on the layout. I also need to put my video recorder and cell phone on to charge. The new fridge is doing great. The temp is right at 37°.

46 currently here. Not sure what the high for the day is but it isn't spring type temps anyway!

Banks - Prayers sent for your loss. I have three dogs myself. A Siberian husky and two dachshunds. I know weird combo but one big happy family.

Anjdevil2 - Prayers for the ex - gf's father.

Thankfully all my work is inside today. Moving stuff from one closet to another (should be fun). I'm sure I won't have the wives stuff right but oh well. Need to work on the light in her closet so she can turn it on.

Moving stuff around in the man-cave to make room for the layout.

If I have time after that I may work on one of the on going house projects. Drinking a couple Beer's and watching the race sound much better though.

Lunch Break:

Yesterday, Doray and I had a nice lunch at The Forked River German Butcher yesterday and we were joined by Johnny. After that Doray and I drove out to King of Prusia, Pa for our sales pitch for Sundance Vacations to get our cruise to the Bahamas. The deal sounded good but we already have a timesharfe that is similar, so we passed. On the way home we stopped for dinner at a favorite place of ours, Mastori's in Bordentown (Rich knows the place) I had the duck and Doray had the tuna and as always it was great. Last night we emptied the freezers so they can be defrosted and today we refilled them. I found the problem that my son was telling me about with his truck and it turned out to be the ignition switch. I will replace it after lunch.

Chief: Roseyville in Jersey: Forget About It!

BOC: Too bad about your neighbor's garage and van. Glad everything is under control.

Jake: Get that Application in the mail today!

Rich: Prayers for ex GF's Dad.

Brent: You are right about wives. I lucked out, but look who I have as a Brother in Law! He can say the same for me! Laugh

Banks: My heart goes out to you and your family over the loss of Buddy.

Ryan: With you when it rains it pours. We are here for you.

Charlie Brown: Enjoy planning the layout and your man cave. Think about making York in the future. It is worth the trip.

SJ: The ice cream is ready. I checked it a little while ago.

Enjoy the Day!

John

Afternoon all!

Warming up here. Already 75. Nice and warm out today!

Went out and got some mulch today for the small flower beds we have left after removing most of them last year.

The wife got some flowers from the church sale so we will be doing a little gardening this afternoon.

Regards, Roy

Evening guys

BANKS, sorry for your loss.  I've lost a lot of good ones along the way,  it ain't easy to take, I know

BBQ was GREAT 1st one of the year. Many more to come. wish it was a tad warmer though

Jeffery.  Love the pic of the Lehigh Valley Loco....  I always liked that one Whistling

Jeff, I was also thinking, I joined the forum about a year after you, on the MRR side. Your layout and photo taking skills have evolved into master pieces. Back in the day of the old "Key Chain" camera to where your at now is fantastic.   and as with most of the people on here, I am continually impressed with how you do SO MUCH with so little.

gotta run, I mean lay around and enjoy some home alone time..... Thumbs Up

Just making do with what I have. I collect all manner of old and junk model railroad stuff that I can get for little or nothing. Never know what can be useful on a project. One of my locos was built with parts from eight different manufacturers and not all of them were made to work together. That's one of those cases where if it doesn't fit cut some off and hit it with a bigger hammer.

Good afternoon all,

Late checking in today and send prayers for those in need.

Our dishwasher is acting up lately after using the new power ball type dishwashing soap.  It is prepackaged and designed to dissolve in hot water.  We have a spring loaded door that holds this dishwashing soap and is suppose to release during the cycle.  Lately though the powerball stuff is getting stuck in the holder and sometimes prevents the door from opening.  It gets sticky and gummy when partially wet/hot.  Don't know what's happening but probably go back to regualar dishwashing soap.  Also plan to run some stuff through the machine to dissolve hard water deposits.

Watched some of the Masters golf tournement today.  Tiger got a two stroke penalty for something that happened yesterday late in the round.  I think he made an illegal drop after hitting into some water but don't really know what happened  The officials didn't  notice it yesterday and did not confront him until this morning.  Some guys say that under the old rules he would have had to withdraw from the tournement but the rules have changed so now he stays in.  Probably be a lot of controversy if he wins. Anyway, I'm rooting for Fred Couples.  He's overdue.

later,

Ray

Spent most of the day at the PA RR Museum in 4 - 45 minute training sessions.  They like to stretch things out.  Started at 10:15 AM and lasted to 3:00 PM.  That shot most of the day.  8 to 12 would make a lot more sense to me.  Did learn a few new things, but not a days worth.  Weather here today was great.  Sunny with some wind and a high of abut 65.

Got the layout cleaned up a little more today. Also gave my H24-66 and U30E645 a good run. Four of the FP7's are parked on the shop track.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good evening.

Went to the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport New York. Saw a wrecked P-40N that was brought up from Florida. Apparently it was involved in a midair back in '45. Sat in the swamp for about 40 years afterwards. Several other aircraft were also there. Models of the S-E-5, Sopwith with Snoopy in it, Fokker DVII, and a model of the Spad XIII that Rickenbacker flew.

Then went to the aviation museum in Elmira New York. There I saw an ill-fated father to the Skyraider. Also had a German "Salamander", an A7 Corsair II, F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, A-10 Thunderbolt II, F4 Phantom II, MiG 21 and an Avenger.

Getting late, should head up soon.

Night.

Good evening all,

It was cool in SE Indiana today.  Reffed 2 soccer games this morning, an American sport.  Rested.  Went to local historical society dinner where we listened to a program about Carl Fisher, one of the founders of the IMS and a major player in getting the Lincoln Highway (US 30) as well as the Dixie Highway built.  Saw where Princess was 28th tonight after barely making the show.  Hmmmm.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Konbanwa,

It’s a little after 6:30 PM now and we’ve had a nice Sunday.  We went to Sunday school and church this morning and then relaxed in the afternoon.  I had a brief nap, watched some recorded UFC fights, and then played some baseball with the older son.  We’re finishing some leftovers for dinner tonight.  I also spent some time today starting my first attempt at making my own bacon.  We bought a small section of pork belly yesterday and today I covered it in salt, pepper, and honey and placed it in the fridge to cure.  After seven days I will take it out and smoke it.  We’ll see how it goes, but at least I know what went into it.

Fife/AF Ray – I’m just hoping the Yankees can play .500-ball until a few more of the regulars get back into the lineup.  The Orioles got them last night.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Murphy!

Sayonara,

Joe
