Good afternoon all,
Rotten news from Boston today. Looks like the crazies are still with us. No surprise! Bad enough as it is. Just glad that it wasn't worse. Prayers for the dead and injured.
Cloudy day here with a few sprinkles. Was out in the train room earlier and ran my WBB AA ACL E7 diesels along with some 80' scale standard heavyweight passenger cars. Also ran a kit built Walthers 75" passenger coach in the consist and a baggage car. Trucks on the Walthers car are soft metal and the axle ends eventually wear them to the point that the bearing surface is egg shaped. This causes the truck frames to ride lower and will make contact with the rails thereby causing a short. Solution is to but bushings in the trucks which I have done on some but not all of these or replace with a plastic truck that won't short out. I have several that need this fix.
Keeping an eye on my dishwasher problem with the prepackaged amount of detergent not melting into the wash when it should. Problem may be water not hot enough to melt the wrapper on the detergent.. My hot water is running about 120 degrees out of the faucet. Might need to raise it up a little at the hot water heater. Just checked the latest run and everything seems to be working OK. Might be an intermittant thing whatever it is.
Best wishes to all you Yorkies for a good spring meet.

The temp is finally 65 right now.
i talked to charlie twice tonight and had a chat with Banks, thanks to him and Brent we have some ideas now. But the closing time of 4 pm makes getting there the fastest way top priority and that might mean using the Pa turnpike then straight north. We will decide tomorrow while on the road. This will be my last banilla call till Saturday night or Sunday. Here's hoping we all have safe travels...S.J.

Terrible news from Boston. Our prayers to the injured, their families, the families of the deceased, the first responders, and those agencies tasked with sorting this out. May God speed them in their investigations. News here said one of the victims was an 8 year old.
SJ, John, and families - safe travels this week! See you in York!
Not much else to say tonight.
Regards, Roy
Ray,
Our dishwasher does the same thing with the Quantum getting stuck.
I wish I could make York, but I am stuck here waiting for word on a job. I was going to surprise the gang, but I've got to sit by the phone and PC.
I got in one of Lionel's modern era milk cars, and that thing is a disgrace. It had trouble with cans jamming the milkman at any voltage. My postwar 3662 from 1956-60 is smooth and will unload all seven cans repeatedly without any issue.
I took the body off the reissue to look around, and was shocked. The dashpot that was present on the postwar 3662 is absent from the reissue, and the arms inside the reissue are sloppy plastic as opposed to the original's metal arms.
At times like this, I remember why I gave up on modern Lionel. Some of the reissues like the 397, 264, 38, and 364 are fantastic. Reissues of the milk cars, 164, 342, and 345 to name a few have been horrible in my personal experience.
I just picked up another 3662, which is the harder to find 1964-66 variation with the AAR trucks and revised milkman figure. I've been looking for this one since 2004.

First special prayers to people of Boston and those affected by the tragedy.
Well we hit just above 60 degrees today but it didn't last long enough. Started raining once again. It has been windy for the most part. Makes driving a jeep fun!
Ryan - Very true on the layout ... glad I laid down a test layout. Now I need to decide. Do I sell the 031 curves or learn to live with them?
Bob - The dachshund in the pic is my train dog. She likes to sit next to me while I run the train. Of course once in awhile she likes to walk around and try to derail the train!
Joe - I'll keep posting pics as I go with the build. I'm just excited to finally get started on it.
Kev - Yes I think it was the best choice for space. Not sure yet how I will butt it up to the bar yet. I'll probably be in touch for hints and help!
Jeffrey-Wimberly - Trains,layout,and pics are looking great!
Chief - My son is getting married in just over a year. It didn't take long for the arguing to start! Me and my wife did it on the cheap and if we do it again it will be the same way. I think we had a total of 20 people in the church. Her mom made her dress. Her uncle done the flowers.
Jake - Hope ya get feeling better!
Hope York goes great for everybody headed that way. I'll pm you my addy for where to send the goodies!
From the thumb of Michigan
Hope everybody has a great night
Just a note on the dishwasher postings. We use the finish brand of tabs. You have to unwrap them but they have worked great so far. They are the all-in-one with the red power ball.
I finally got the Pennsy FP7 stripped and repainted. I got it back together about 8:20pm. That's five units out of six done. I'm not touching #6. It looks too good. The photo below is what used to be the Pennsy unit. It's distinctive in that the gray paint stops at the front of the cab doors instead of at the rear of the cab doors like the other units. Maybe the shop was running low on gray paint.I didn't get much done layout wise. I passed the time earlier while waiting for the botched paint job to get stripped by tearing apart a laser assembly from an old DVD drive. Boy that thing was well built! It took me nearly an hour to rip it apart. It makes a nice scrap load.Well that's it for today. Time to call it a night. I'll see y'all tomorrow.
HOME!! Meetings over. Tired.
Sorry about the bomber. Prayers for those involved.
Crazy people and the government keeps cutting mental health funds.
The crazy gun control Mayor was at the meeting. We asked her if they did back ground checks on the bomber before they bought the materials. She was actually quite tonight. Our Democrat Senator is one of the five that is holding up the approval of the bill.
Youngest Daughter, Wifey [her Mom] spent thousands on her wedding and now she does not speak to us. Frankie, I did rehearsel dinner. This one[oldest, 41] is doing her own [her request]. I'm doing rehearsel dinner as 'her man's" parents are dead.
Wifey and I had our wedding at her parents in their livingroom. Had a couple of friends, her family, my two kids and her daughter. My Mom was in hospital at the time and said don't change it for me. Since they lived quite a ways away, Dad didn't come either. He stayed with Mom in hospital. Honeymoon was right here in this house with kids gone. Mainly finishing things the way she wanted it so her and youngest could officially move in. House had been empty for year before we bought it. Needed a lot of work. Kids and I had been here for 2 1/2 months. I had worked on it off and on.
Tomorrow is suppose to be "light" and no Town business. We'll see.
Heading to the lake house tomorrow night for a few days.
Sleep tight.

Hello all
Worked w/ the two folks from the other telescope today. The wind got up so we had to close. Gave us a chance to run thru some 'what if' scenarios.
Thoughts and prayers for those in Boston.
RJ - my mom had a long-haired dachshund and my Corvair buddy has another. Great dogs. Lots of spirit and character.
Well the dockside is back together. I will prob try and test it tonight before I find a pillow.

Good Morning
That sucks about the bombing in Boston, I just can't figure out why people do those kinds of things.
We had an attempted MURDER on saturday, just south of my property off the appalacian Trail. The PSP say it was an "Isolated" Incendent, but too close to home for me. The city people are starting to come up here to the woods to do there dirty deeds, and I don't like it
SUMBOB, does that cat live at the telescope with you or at your home?
We have a cat here at the warehouse, and spends most of the day in my office sprawled out on my desk. He also like to display his nighly catches in the Lobby.
My morning is all shot to heck, as we were to have a Trailer droped into our loading dock last night, so I came in extra early to unload, as I have buyers for the materials that are on the trailer comming today, and guess what? NO TRAILER!!
Just gets the day off on the wrong foot. HA HA, speaking of feet, I stubbed (i think i mean Broke) my little toe and the one next to it on the dresser last night. Blood sqirted every where. now I am hobbling around . Nothing they can do for a broken little toe, so why go to the ER and spend 1500.00.....
Talk at ya all later
Ryan
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Cloudy and 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Will be launching the yatchet around 10, and then headed to work. Spent last night posted along the NEC.
for BOSTON. I'm thinking/hoping the FBI already has the responsible party. Can't label this one crazy, just zealous.
If you want to take a stand, I say sponsor RockIsland's granddaughter in her walk next month. Jack, please email/PM me the info.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 70 with a good chance of rain, later.
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores to do. I will be busy until lunch. Then a nap. Not much else new here.
Prayers out for the people of Boston.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good Mornin' Y'all,
My apologies for not posting yesterday after I noted the Boston bombings. This one was close to home. The blast was about 20 miles South of my home.
My son-in-law and granddaughter had been in downtown Boston before the blast but had left. My son was about 4 miles from the blast, North of Boston. His company sent everyone home......there was a expansive metro Boston alert (not just Boston) as State and Federal officials scrambled to mitigate any further carnage and get everyone home, safe.
Boston is not a large city. The population of Boston proper is about 500,000. But events yesterday were ripe for those who would do harm to others.
There was the Boston marathon that attracts over 10,000 runners. Add in the support folks and the well wishers that line the entire course. The Red Sox were playing at home, and the game started around the same time as the marathon. It is vacation week for the schools, so that attracted even more people and their kids to downtown events. The Bruins were scheduled for a home ice game last night downtown. Finally, April 15 is Patriots Day, a state holiday.
The makings for the perfect scenario for those who would do harm and wanted masses of people in close proximity and the relative chaos that scenario naturally creates. Security is out the window.
I am glad my family was not plunked in the middle of that, but by the same token I cannot think for a moment that "There but for the grace of God go I." That little 8 year old boy that was taken was standing near the finish line with his mother and another sibling to cheer on the Dad who was finishing the marathon.
There is a five square block of downtown Boston cordoned off for the investigation. Businesses proximate are closed. Someone used the massive media coverage to showcase their deed. Foreign or domestic terrorism.....yet to be seen.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good morning all
We had rain over night. Misting now. going to a high in the 50's. So finally seeing a warm up. Things are starting to bloom and I might even need to mow the lawn by June!
Still have not picked up wood to start layout platform. Maybe this weekend if all goes well.
Sure wish there was a train show closer to me. I have heard rumors of some other train hobbiest in the area. There is a group that meets up once a month but they are about an hour and half drive from me.
The sun is peaking through the clouds and we had a light rain overnight on the North Bluff.
I pray that today will be a safer day than yesterday and for those who were directly or whose family and friends were effected by the yet another tragedy.
I drove for the dealer yesterday. Took a wore out Trail Blazer to the auction and on the TV there is where I heard the sad news about Boston. The seven of us had good discussion on the subject on the way back to Marseilles in the pick-up car.
Train news: I am having a hard time taking up the track on the addition but at least I documented the layout and what curves are where so I can re-lay it after I get the landscaping base down.
RJ, "Sure wish there was a train show closer to me." DIDO me too!
Well I guess things on the pot will slow down till after the York show. You attendees have fun.

Aloha. Sunny but cooler today. Maybe some still-needed rain later. My extended family in Boston was scattered along the race route watching or working and are all OK. I got home late from work last night and was pretty tired because the youngest had got up at 1 am with a bad dream and I only get up 4 hours later, so didn't do much of anything except say hello to SJ as he flew by on the TARDIS.
RJ and Bob, I had a long-haired dauschund too. A great breed.

Good morning. It's 72° with 100% humidity and patchy fog. It will be cloudy with a high of 85°.Today I'll be working on applying decals to the FP7's I've spent the last couple days painting. For now it's just the L&A decals. I haven't quite decided on the range of numbers yet. I used '601' on the unit I photographed just so there was a number there. I was actually wondering where I was going to put the numbers when I thought 'hey, dummy, these are F units! Use the number boards! That's what they're there for!'. It makes for a good use for my label printer.
Good Morning!
Prayers go out to all of the victims and their families in Boston.
Jack: You have to be proud of Victoria.
I have to take our dog Mack to the vet today. He just is not himself. He is sneezing and it appears that his right ear is bothering him.
Getting ready for York! Leaving Thursday early afternoon.
Have a Great Day!
John
Morning. Cloudy and warm. No rain though. Pollen!!! Working at Town Hall for a few. Seems I have to leave Town to get away from Town. Then, it seems to follow me by cell phone.
Hope to go to the lake house tonight and stay a few days.
Safe trip to all the Yorkie travelers.
Jack, agree with Fifey. Send me the info on your Daughter's walk thingy.

Fife, Brent, Chief, and Banks...... I will email you shortly with the information. Thank you so much for your sponsorship of our nine year old granddaughter Victoria in the March (of Dimes) For Babies walk. She will be thrilled and then ask Grampy Jack "Who are these guys?!?" The walk is scheduled for May 11 in downtown Boston which gives one pause after yesterday's tragic bombings. But we can't let the evil in the world thwart the very thing that differentiates us in the eyes of the world.
How can I say thank you in a way that adequately expresses my gratitude? My granddaughter is working very hard. But she is learning that she can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Change for the positive happens one person at a time, one kind deed at a time. Pam and I are so proud of her.
And thank you to all here on the POT for your kind words about our little Victoria's effort in honor of her brother, Mateus John Marques, whom we tragically lost at the age of just six days.
Jack, please PM me the info THANKS
Jack - hook me up as well...

Banks and Ryan......I PM'd you with the link to my granddaughter and the March For Babies info that you asked for. Can you PM your email address back to me. In my disorganization I don't seem to have them.
Thank you so much for considering this!!
Good afternoon.
Plenty'o'homework to do this evening. Oh boy. 22 note cards due tomorrow in English. Got about 2 done? I'm in for a rough evening.
Wet here in Towanda otherwise.
Good Afternoon:
Just got back from the vet. Mack was his normal self as soon as we walked into the office. No ear infection and the vet said that he is not sure what is wrong so we had some tests done. We will get the results tomorrow. What a baby he was. It took 2 techs, the vet and myself to hold him to have his temp taken and he cried like he was being beat. Drawing blood was the same.
Jack: Send me the info on Victoria's walk.
Time to start getting ready for school.
