Kevin,
Obviously, your choice, but based on your conversation I think your problem is with the track.
As you are using Marx tubular track, You need to make SURE you are preparing the track correctly.
We are essentially using the track as a switch, the center rail is providing the "+" and the outside rails is providing the "-". As you can see in the photo the center rail is isolated from the three ties, (most llikely fiche paper.) The two outside rails are NOT isolated from one another, and are electrically the same, (both "-".) We need to isolate ONE of the outside rails. That involves putting a non-conductive pin in the end of the rail where it connects to another section of track, AND protecting the rail from coming in direct contact with the metal tie. Some people use paper, electrical tape, cardboard, etc.. EVERY tie must be isolated between the two non-conductive track pins! IF you have two straight sections then you would have a non-conductive track pin at the extreme ends, and a conductive track pin where the two sections come together. THEN you must isolate the rail from the metal ties, in the case of two sections of track it would be 6 ties. This would be necessary for the entire length that the signal is required to be on.
As a result as the engine/cars pass through this section of tracks, the wheels will provide "-" to the outside rail, completing the circuit to turn on the signal. When the train has passed, then the circuit is broken and the signal goes off.
Hope this helps.

Aloha. Sunny and 'crisp' on this TGIF - a nice fall day. Took the youngest off to the far reaches of the county to pick apples, then treated him to lunch. Watched some harvesting along the road. Now back to work. Congrats on the new ride, RT. Sorry missed you on the TARDIS last night. I was being tech support via phone for an in-law. Ray, What a response from that dealer! (It would be cool to see the shuttle)DonB, I'd like to see the Cup close-up. Only saw it from afar during the Blackhawks victory parade. I did get right next to the World Series trophy back in '05.SJ, congrats to those Tigers!

Good morning all,
We had a little rain yesterday and last night which saves watering at least for today. However, we did not even get enough to test out my new drainage system since putting in the block wall. Hardly any run off and no water even reached the sump pump. Temps were low this morning for Southern California. It was down to about 52 overnight. Hard to think just a few days ago we were having triple digit days. I'm grateful for the cooler weather. Thank you Lord.
D.Baker, congratulations on photos with the Stanley Cup. Too bad the team was a no show.
My adult sons and grandson plan to watch the Endeavor space shuttle being moved tomorrow. They are going to a viewing area on the West side of town since the sidewalks along a lot of the route to the Science Museum in L.A. will be blocked off. I would go too but tomorrow is my birthday and I will just take it easy. My grandson will be 15 on the 17th of October so we will celebrate together this weekend.
#1 son is having car problems again. Was involved in a minor fender bender (not his fault) but sustained some damage. Insurance put car in for repair and it was in the dealer for 10 days for body damage. However, when he got the car back he noticed a lot of noise under the hood and warning lights on control panel. Called dealer and they said, just keep driving and maybe it will go away! Say what! Anyway son drove it a little further and got some serious warning lights so shut it all down and called a tow truck. Back to dealer now. I can't believe this! Might be some loose belts or something. He had already turned the rental car back in so had to do that all over again plus lost a day from work.

jeffrey-wimberly SPManI don't buy from Wal Mart for that reason. It's not that simple here. Either I buy from Wal-Mart or go to the grocery store at the other end of town and spend a lot more for less. * Kev: Watch out! Jack has strange plans.

RT.........[tup] Sweet ride !!!!!!!!!! You have good taste.
You will be tested in one week on all of the info ("2004 SRX" internet links) I sent to you. The test will be segmented by exterior technical specifications, interior technical specifications, options and features, engine and drivetrain, safety features, and road test reviews.
Jack
Hello all,
TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally
Busy here,
Kev & RT, nice rides
Try to get back tonight

KRMNice ride RT. RIJack can tell you all of the needed info on that. Hope your rear center brake light don't burn out.
No worries, KEV. I started in on RT early this morning when I first read his post that he picked up his Caddy SRX. Hooked him up with an (First Generation) SRX forum.
BTW RT.........I can't quite tell from your pictures what exterior/interior colors you got, but it looks like the cashmere exterior with the light nuetral leather interior. How about some details? For starters, V8 or V6? AWD or rear wheel drive?
I see I still have posting privileges on the POT.
Noon all. Busy contact cementing the rubber shelf liner and the felt inside the barrel "knotches" to new row in gun safe. Vacumed as lots of sawdust and trimmings. SJ, I went and got my hair cut. Now to get ready to go to new Gander Mountain in neighboring town.

How did you know Jack? Your starting to become like Prometheus a real "Forethinker".
Well I did just get back from the car wash. I am convinced this truck will never be clean on this gravel lane.
Sunny and bright out there today. Crisp and cool too.
Law enforcement around here are using Chevys.
I have not been in the basement and done any train stuff since I got home from up north so I think I may do some doodling down there today. I got a 16' flat 4 wire extension so I can wire up the gantry Crane I got from Jimmy T. I have given up on those crossing gates and will just use the 153IR to run them I guess.
I did get my hairs cut yesterday and the wife never noticed. I always thought she may be looking through me instead of at me. Heaven forbid if I not notice when she does something to her hair.
Nice ride RT. RIJack can tell you all of the needed info on that. Hope your rear center brake light don't burn out.
Well got some stuff to do,
Prayers for all in need.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Overcast Taxachusetts,
The temps dipped to 43 here overnight, equalling the coldest low we have had thus far thisr Fall. It's been colder North and West of me, with Lake Atlantic's waters a mile east of me keeping the temps a tad warmer near the coast. However, the misforecasters say 33 degrees for me tonight, a "frost."
Just in case the California boys feel their State is the most mismanaged mess in the U.S. of A......
After merrily zipping along on our way home from New Hampshire last night, the wifey and I suddenly found ourselves sitting motionless on the interstate 10:30PM, still 20 miles from home. Seems the newly repaved section of MA I95 just North of Boston was disintegrating, closing down the right breakdown lane and two of the three travel lanes. Superslowway, not superhighway. Wife asks " How can this happen so soon (2 months) after the repaving that messed up traffic for 4 months? Who pays for redoing it? Why did it take them a month to repaint all the white lines after they had finished?" "Your tax dollars at work, dear. The Commonwealth cannot afford to do it right the first time around yet can afford to do it twice." Wonder which gaggle of my elected or appointed officials got rich on this one..... and won't be held accountable for the shoddy work.
We Taxachusetts folks are used to this stuff as the norm. How do you think the BIG DIGl project here (putting a highway underground) in Boston went from a $2.6B project up front to one that will cost us $24B by the time the bonds are paid off (2024)? The Federal government got wise and pulled their financial support when the costs hit $15B, yet no one on the State or local level has been held accountable for the 1,000% over runs or what the State has to assume financial responsibility for? Oh yeah, the recently completed tunnels leak like a sieve 24/7, and the cement ceiling panels and light fixtures fall on cars (with fatalities). Top THAT, you CA. whiners!!! My tax dollars at work, again.
Later, gang.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a damp and cloudy 44 degrees. Going up to 58 today with cloudy skies.
Today is an easy day. I did a few chores and now I can finish my train project. Looks good so far. Then, I will relax and do some reading.
Dining car was here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Buckeye & LAZ......TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.

Have a couple days off, got some good "lighting" deals at Michaels Crafts. So hopefully will be able to spend some time time on the layout.
The Stanley Cup was at the park yesterday, got an opportunity to get picture with it. Team was supposed to be there but do to the lock out, were not there.
Hope everyone has a great day!
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s. "My" soccer boys won last night 5-0. Based on the information I have gathered so far about the next opponent, it could be an interesting game tomorrow. I do think we have a chance to win. Long day yesterday with all the driving. TBIL with barrel rolls aplenty. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
HI GUYZ,
38 and crisp here. Did the river walk with MINNIE and run and lift done. Suppose to get freeze tonite so probably NO FIRE and outside dining will not be done. WIFE says its to cold.

8ntruck I'm going to have to re-calibrate my police spotting eyes. I've noticed that the Sedalia police department is phasing out the Crown Vics and starting to use Chargers. Different look altogether.
8n.........this is music to Rich's MOPAR ears. Can you spell H-E-M-I? Ford Motor Company stopped all production a year ago September while the fleet/police marketplace did not embrace Ford's hopes their newer and larger Taurus would be embraced as a replacement. It was not, and the Dodge Charger slipped in there. Faster, better handling, albeit "smaller" than the old Crown Vic/Marquis they replaced.
Up my way, the Chargers became my local police departments' vehicle of choice two years ago. The MA State police are playing out the string on their aging Fords, should be interesting to see what they choose..
Unmarked State police cruisers here? Mustangs......that should make JimmyT happy, though they are probably slower and less conspicuous than his. Wife and I also saw an unmarked State police pickup truck the other night on the interstate!!!!!! That should make KEV happy even though as we speak he is out there washing his black Silverado.
wrconstructionprior to that it was the old splitting mull and wedge operation
Good morning. It's 63° with 99% humidity and patchy fog. It'll be partly cloudy with a high of 88°.Feels real damp outside and not a drop of rain. Fog with high humidity will do that. Feels really weird at times. Nothing special going on today that I know of. My father may have different ideas if he's not working today. I may work on the elevator again today. Can't run any trains as the layout looks a tornado hit it. Add to that there's six silos standing on the track just this side of Ezra's place. Funny sign in mind for that place. 'Ezra's stop and go pizza shop. Stop here for gas'. Maybe someday I'll get around to making it. It looks like we have rain coming in for the weekend. At least it won't be cold. The high is due to be in the 80's until midway through next week.
Wow RIJjack, $150 for a face cord sounds like a lot.
that does seem high. around here were getting 150 for a full cord delivered. If i'm correct a "face cord" is on ly a 1/3 of a cord, right? Our soul source of heat at the house is wood, we burn about 8 cords a winter. Luckly, we have property that gracefully yeilds enough fire wood every year, but its ALOT of work. I dont know what id do without my trusty Ford 8n and my log splitter (which I just bought last year, prior to that it was the old splitting mull and wedge operation)
I only cut and split in the fall winter, summer is just too hot and miserable to be dealing with fire wood. All this extra winter work cuts into train time, but I can spend the difference in free heat vs 4.00 a gallon for fuel oil on trians! ( I figure we save about 4K a year on heat)
Good Early Morning...
We are going to see a mix of sun and cloud with scattered showers here and there...yep...them days of the semi-permanent umbrella attached to the backpack are with us again...
Today Audrey is getting her hair done and I am having my feet checked out...not that I've noticed anything....yet.
Maybe, a little later on I might get a chance at running some choo choo's....
As for friend...we did a couple of quick runs for him to various stores and such to clear up bills etc...pretty sad evening all the way around...

Hello all
Windy, rainy, and fairly cold on the mountain tonight. We are closed up tight and have been all day. No snow yet, but we have had sleet off and on. Given the look of the weather plots, it will probably continue to be a quiet night.
Jim - glad to hear the 302 is coming along! Hope to see a video soon!
BOC - thoughts and prayers for your friend's family
Chief - sounds like you need another rifle....
Regarding 10/11/12: my father died on this date 24 years ago. I was not quite 21. Time tends to heal pain, but I am always a bit somber on this date.
Time to go find some "lunch" (it's 1AM here).

Good night all. Started reclinerizing at 9. I did add three more slots in the gun safe. Put another row in front of the right side. That took care of my last two rifles I bought with one slot left open. HUMMM
Tomorrow, get ready for deer season on Sat. Leaving real early Sat. morning.
Sleep tight.
Howdy guys - got my TCA magazine as well and it looks good, but haven't had a chance to do more than flip through and blink at the pics. Lots of pictures in this one, very cool. Waiting for the weekend, that's for sure. Tried to refill my prescription and doc says I have to come in for a follow-up on my BP. For a sinus prescription? I was just in there like 9 months ago, I'm certain it hasn't been a year. Guess they need some income. Meanwhile, no Flonase for 3 days now - blah. "All doctors is swabs!" - RLS
TARDIS is ready and we have everything except Flonase, so let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
