Met my friend Ed Harrigan who's friendship lasted until his death this past July. Was introduced by him to the world of toy train collecting and train meets. Celebrated my 35th birthday that year.

Doug, Hay is relatively plentiful here. The warm spring made for a great first cutting. 2nd cutting was so so. With the cost of feed so high many horse people (our primary customers) got rid of their horses the last couple of years so there's not much demand. Son's had hay advertised way cheap for weeks with no takers. Soon we'll have to break down and put it in the barn. (we need the wagons to pick corn) It will sell come January.

Mom came thru surgery well. It was cancerous and they removed her right *** and lymp nodes. As of now the doctors feel that she will not need chemo, just radiation. She is in good spirits and she was laughing last night.

The lowest temperature of the Fall season here greeted Maximus and I when we went out for his morning pit stop, 43 degrees. But has already shot up to 56 with 72 as the forecasted high for the day. The pup was beside himself (distracted, sniffing like crazy), and I have to assume it is because the wascally wabbits and squirrels had invaded his turf earlier.
My State's drug testing lab has been charged with mishandling thousands and thousands of drug samples which resulted in convictions. The first of the avalanche of court challenges has commenced. May be a shortage of lawyers to handle the load. My tax dollars hard at work rework.
I hope today brings good news on HudsonJohn's Mom, friend Dave, Spanky's little Tyler, and Bank's Dad. And prayers for Wes and his family.

Chief........isn't it amazing how much easier things go when you have help moving a whole bunch of stuff? Sounds like your future SIL understands the value of helping out family members when they need it. If we were there "helping" you some of the bins would not have made it to the Box.

Beautiful morning. Warming up though. May get clsoe to 90 before end of week. Waiting for buddy from lake to come and go to BoJangles. Brings his dog to groomer in town north of us and then come by for a biscuit. Then he goes to Sam's to shop. Such a nice day wish I was on the lake or in the woods.
Turnips I sowed last week up and growing. Good stand of them came up as rained right after sowing.
Treated back deck and msot of front deck of the Box. Finish the one railing today.

8ntruck I went onto ups site about a month ago to change delievery day and they wanted to charge to just change the day. Thats one reason I do not ship with them. My prefer shipping method is Fedex except small packages. That use to be a free service.

Had a restful day, did work on our website and a few orders, so was able to feel productive.
RT - I think you will end up in a boat load of trouble by the time Chief gets his stuff moved. Better plan on more shelving soon! Might even want to send the Chief a friends or neighbors address.
KEV, - Sent you a couple of emails.
Our local High School mad a startling move today. They downgraded their Varsity Football team to Junior Varsity! The team had 49 kids on Varsity, major community concerns. The team has played 4 games so far and haven't been able to score one point, and have had numerous injuries. 2 broken collar bones, and numerous broken wrists. I think the local demographics has a lot to do with it also.
The weather seems to be cooling off a little bit, hope it holds.

FSIL [future son-in-law] came this afternoon to help with old layout removal and train car moving to Box. Had 8 big flat 4 foot long tubs [the kind they have for Christmas or clothes with wheels to slide under the bed] already full of cars. Went to Wake Forest Lowes. Had one with no top. Price $19. Went to Knightdale Lowes. Got 4 more for $15 each. Filled two and loaded 4 more on back of pickup. Took to Box. I will work on moving some tomorrow. Will have to hand carry as the tubs are too big to carry down steps from upstairs. FSIL coming back early Wed. and help with rest of the tubs.
RT, wait until I email the Wifey and inflate the price you paid for those boxes. Get even for all your Yankee jabs.

Great weather this weekend. Sunny and in the low 70's.
Spent a lot of time outside on Saturday, but not working on projects of my choice. My wife volunitered to help run the kids activities. Of course, that means I got drafted to 'only help with the set up'. Right. It didn't quite work out thqt way. Saturday night we were both beat - my wife gave up ane went to bed about 8pm, I followed at about 10pm.
We spent Sunday unloading and sorting the kids activities supplies out of the car. Got called into the KATY museum to remove a pigeon that found its way into the building for grins too. When my wife hung that phone call up, I asked if I should bring my BB gun for the pigeon removal.I got 'THE LOOK'!
We vegged out Sunday afternoon - TCM had some good old movies - Don't Eat the Daisies, 10 Little Indians, and Murder by Death.
RI52 - on the subject of showing appreiation for employees re-arranging personal events, near as I can figure, that gets outlawed in the secret set of rules handed out when one attains a certail level of management. On another wedding/work related note, one of the other guys at work got called in on his daughter's wedding day - tux and all.
My All Hallow's Eve tender got dropped off today. A signature is required, we weren't home, now we've got to wait for the re-delivery - at a time of their choosing. We found out that it will cost $5 to re-schedule the delivery at a time of our choosing! When did the 'service' part of parcel delivery service die? Seems like the sender and receiver are the customers here - without them there would be no need for the parcel delivery service......

Went to town with my father this morning. We had breakfast at The Waffle House in New Llano then went to Wal-Mart so he could do some grocery shopping for himself and I could pick up some much needed medical supplies and some Great Value drink mixes. My drinks may of medical necessity be limited mostly to water but that doesn't mean they have to be tasteless. Got back home about 11:30 and since I has still hurting quite a bit took some more Aleve and rested as best I could. No layout work today. Didn't even touch the layout. Maybe tomorrow I can get some work done on it. For now it's time to call it a night. I'll see y'all tomorrow.

Evening all Boy it was interesting around here this evening first off when I got home wife isn't talking to me. So I'm trying to figure out what I did this time. ( Been very busy day at work I was just beat and didn't feel like any games ) So I went to my room and there was the answer 4 boxes by ups where in there ( they normally don't run around here until 6 to 8 P.M. well ran early today and a different driver. I told her thats the trains chief sent me I told you about she said I thought it was one train not half of his collection! I said believe me that few wouldn't even scratch Chief collection. Well got her calm down and working out side using tail gate as work bench for cutting the new door threshold and she comes out to see hows it going ( play supervisor lol) and who shows up but FedEx with another package for me. Didn't have an answer for that one her first words were I guess another package from chief right? I said no I bought a train set with the money from the one I had to return. ( still wasn't happy) as she went in Oh by the way what lottery did you hit and not tell me. (why don't we have a symble for a dog house lol)
Any way Started to work on the den again but didn't feel like dragging the saws outside knowing in about 1 1/2 hours I would have to drag them back in so just did the threshold and straightened up some. Tomorrow will be a busy day for me as I was asked to work on wednesday my other day off. Have an hearing test that day anyway so why not get paid time and a half while getting your hearing checked.

No kidding! With all the meds I take there's about fifty different possible side effects. Some of them don't bother me, most have some effect on me at times and it seems like a lot of them take turns.

Tore the 2025 down Friday night, and with a bit of cleaning, a fallen 675, and some time it runs and looks much better.
Replaced the fuel filter on the Probe Saturday, which had about 84K on it. Also removed and cleaned the throttle body while I was in there. Thanks to some genius at Mazda, this all took about eight straight hours since the filter is in the engine bay buried under the intake elbow, cruise control module, and some harnesses. Once it is within reach, it needs to be pulled up to get the lower line, but the line is short and the spring clamp adds insult to injury. Throttle body was not much easier with the attached Idle Air Control valve and two coolant lines and sensors.
This is standard operating procedure for servicing Mazda's 2.5L KL V6. I am really glad I didn't get an 11+ Mustang with the 3.7 V6, which is also a Mazda. Can't stand the sound of the 3.7 anyway. It's got the same japanese sound as the KL.

Chief, I like Brunswick stew too. They say it was a favorite of FDR when he was at Warm Springs, Georgia. His biography says that he hated the cooking in the White House. His wife hired the cook because she was a friend, not for her cooking ability.
Jeffrey, hope you have a handle on all those side effects. A lot of stuff is hard on your kidneys and liver. I take more stuff than I want to now. Doctors keep adding more pills it seems.
Don, enjoy your time off from Knotts. I did not see the shuttle flyover either but watched on TV. My son who works on the West Side of town saw it at Santa Monica.

RIJack, Thanks, that GTO was in white when my friends found it under a shade tree in southwest MO. It had been sitting there for years already even if it was only about 12 or 13 years old it the time. SO I did a bunch or repairs including fixing the trunk floor that had a large rust hole in it and painted it marina blue. That is a light sky blue that was on GTOs and the Chevelle back then. Then in 1988 I started over on it and went to correct everything in the second restore. Finished it four days before the Plainfield tornado and had it at work that day to show the guys, otherwise it would have been in the garage and beat to trash like my truck was that was in there The car was at least 97% correct by end of the second restore. i had a small stall converter and a hot cam and lifters. The Forest blue was the color it was from the factory. Nice but like black way hard to keep nice.. It took a lot of block sanding on those quarter panles to get then straight.
My daughter did not talk to me for a week after I sold it.

Don, I have been trying to do this on my bench before making all of the changes to the table track. I will need to isolate a half curve of Marx 34" and I don't have any extras. So I decided I am doing something wrong and I want to mock up a small loop on the floor to test out the wiring. Are you guys using these signals on the layout or some others? Just seems if I keep the yellow and white tied together it will not work unless I split them up. When I break the black from them one at a time it will work. I brake the white from the black and then the yellow from the black as the 153C would do. If the white and yellow are tide and you break the black the thing lights up and the gate kind of bounces up and down in a jurk.
I got nothing but time so it will be okay.
