Good afternoon!
Isaac spat on us just a little while ago, so far, nothing major.

Good morning (well it is here still). It's 85° with 67% humidity. It'll be partly cloudy with a high of 95° and a heat index of 106°.Been busy this morning gathering all my FLV files into one directory. Did the same with my Car Talk MP3 files. Tonight I'll back them all up on DVD's. Together they come to 5.53 gigs. There were many duplicates which I deleted. I'll figure out later how much disc space that recovered. I found out yesterday that my Magicjack Plus interferes with my Nero copy program, so the Magicjack has to be unplugged for the copy program to work. I want to have my phone on in case any important calls come in so I'll have to wait until tonight to make my backup DVD's. The possibility of an important call coming in then is next to nil. No work on the layout yet today, in fact I haven't run a train in the last two days. I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms! I'll have to run one for a bit today to get my fix.

dbaker48 Good Morning, Brutus, An alternative could have been to raise the shower pan 3/8", OH well too late now. We have another fire going on, it started yesterday. It is just north of SP Ray, in the San Gabriel Mtns. Hopefully he doesn't have too much smoke it should be drifting away from him. Need to work today, then off until next Saturday! Should be able to get a lot done on Bob's layout, hopefully! Hope everyone has a great day, and be careful with all the grilling and partying. (Interesting picture Fife, I'm sure their must be a story behind it. Probably don't want to know)

The fire Don mentioned is indeed just North of us about 10-15 miles as the crow flies. Lots of smoke yesterday and last night. The prevailing winds usually take it to the East but it just hung around for a while last night and early morning with hardly any wind. That should help the fire fighters. I have some breathing problelms so I have to be careful. I could smell the smoke outside this morning and there was a fine ash on the cars.
Don, nice photos of your layout and bridges. Looks very cool! Looks like your hinges are a little different than mine. I guess the Chief finally got some that satisfied his needs. Good luck to you and Bob on his layout. Good to see the goose running at your place.

Aloha. Sunny and hot here too. I'm going to take the youngest to the lake in a few minutes for the last beach day of the year. My bride will drive the middle boy back to college. DonB, sure glad to hear of your summer. Your layout - and the plan for Bill's - both look spectacular. Brutus, sounds like you are surviving your bachelor weekend. Kev, you are the bargain hunter extraordinaire! We've had a quiet weekend. Back to labor tomorrow.

Happy Labor day guys. Sunny and going to the 90s today with plenty of that humidity stuff.
The grass had decided to grow and the bugs have come out of hiding with the little rain we did get.
We have nothing planned today so we will just coast along and see what comes our way. I won two nice NIB K-Line cars last night for $19.99 on the bay. One is a Santa Fe work caboose I wanted to use with my Santa Fe Burro crane and the three dome PRR tank car was just a + on the deal.
Enjoy your day because, for you workers, tomorrow will be a labor day.
Where is Roy???????
Prayers for all in need.

Good mor.... wait, should it be gloomy morning instead?
Currently just below 70 and cloudy, with remains of Isaac on the way. When checking the weather yesterday, I saw that tropical storm Leslie is making a beeline for the east coast. Hope it isn't another Irene or Lee. In fact, Lee had more of an impact on Northeastern PA than Irene, breaking records set by Agnes in '72.
It's going to 85 today with sun. I have the windows open for now. Granny is making potato salad so we will have some kind of outdoor meal. The phone is still silent as far as the kids go. And to the working folk, go to bed early I don't want you being late in the morning...S.J.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cloudy 72 degrees. Going up to 81 today, with more rain on the way.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax. Maybe do some reading. Watch a movie on TV. Lunch and a nap will happen.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday and enjoy Labor Day.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Happy Labor Day. Kinda gloomy outside weather-wise. Littlest princess won't be happy if she can't go swimming one last time. Tried to watch the NACAR race last night, but just too long.
And a good morning to everyone here....
Going to be another warm somewhat sticky day here...84F feeling like 94F....and sunny....
Having a lazy day today with nothing planned but working on the layout plans...again.
Which means that I may need the old padded corner booth complete with punching bag in the back room somewhere...to get a little ...exercise in

Fife - I just threw up a little in my mouth.
Nice chat on the phone with SJ (Maybe younger brother from a different mother?) and then on the thingie with John and SJ both. Prayers out for John's Mom for good test results.
Joe - Happy Birthday to your wife!
Don - great plans for your friend and great pics of your layout bridges, very cool!
Laz - hope you got some rain and some train time! We have had a lot of rain in the past 2 days, but looks like it is going to taper off now.
Jeffrey, sounds like a good project with the pdf files and as cheap as data storage is now, I would not archive or encrypt anything personally.
Well, today I dry fitted the shower base to the drain and although I was CERTAIN that I had cut the pipe to the correct length, it was off by about 3/8 inches too long! I cut the pipe, trimmed and rejoined it. Then I put in some sand to fill around the pipe and make a base for some concrete. Well, I didn't think about it until too late, but it pushed the drain end up about 1/2 inch! I had to dig out a huge pile of sand and get the pipe level and right, then added weight on the pipe so it wouldn't move and also drove in a long landscaping nail to keep it steady side-to-side. I added sand and double checked - everything is good now. I can't believe I spent 3 hours just fiddling with that little piece of pipe. Anyway, I need to get some concrete and also some stainless panhead screws. I had the screws, but I put them somewhere safe and can't remember, duh..... Knees hurt from kneeling on concrete, but I'm glad I finally got it all straight anyway.
TARDIS is ready, so let's get a move on. We have Banilla, Lemon, and also Cherry Garcia icecream. We also have some Old Mills, Blue Moons, and I think one lonely Sam.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
It stayed cloudy till just before sundown. Reached 85 but no rain. As expected no calls from the kids(except Brutus)so we went to Ruby Tuesdays after church. I finished OGR and CTT working on Consumer Reports now. Banilla is ready and I'll wait for the Thingy..S.J.
Good evening everyone! Spent most of today doing two things.
1. Eating
2. Sleeping
Spending a whole day at Railfest 2012 and La Festa Italiana in Scranton really took it out of me.
Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Been busy today backing up my hard drives and flash drives to DVD's. I moved all my PDF files (with the exception of those I have shortcuts to) to a single directory (nearly one gig) then made a backup of that (including the excluded files) on a CF card and a DVD. So I now have four DVD's of non-encrypted files that I can access without having to jump through a bunch of hoops to decrypt. Now that I have the PDF files in one place it'll be easier to find the one I'm looking. After all that staring at the screen my eyes hurt. I need a vacation! Don't I wish!
FIFE,
MANGO, not that one LOL. Wasn't she/ he one of the cheerleaders in the original Longest Yard with BURT REYNOLDS?
DON,
Nice layout love the hinges.
Good Afternoon...
Little Spring is cuddled up between my arms as I type here...
All we are seeing is a fair bit of humidity and rather milky skies...84 feeling like 95F here...yay.
Went out by our park and got some halfway decent shots of some trains...big trestle here so everything looks up...at the train.... Going to see later on if any turned out decent for Photobucket ...
DBaker: Love the layout work!!
Fife: uuuummmmmmmm.....TMI....

D.Baker, glad to hear that Bob is finally able to start a layout.
Ray, Me TOO! He has waited long enough. I thought I would put up a couple of pictures of the bridge work I did on my layout......
Almost looks like Bridge City, just did the last two, (cream color).
Both have a sheet metal bottom, especially since they are curved. (Sheet metal cost $3.50. hinge cost $4.50 per pair.)
Closed...
Second curved bridge, somewhat of a tight fit, given the available real estate, and track radius requirement. Thank full for low profile guard rail.
MTH double bridge, replaced plastic bottom with sheet metal. This bridge has been there for 5 years or so, and has been cycled thousands of times.
These are the hinges that work for me.
Good morning all,
D.Baker, glad to hear that Bob is finally able to start a layout. He is fortunate to have you to help him on this venture. Looking forward to seeing some photos in time. My time on my own layout has been very limited this summer by the hot weather and the high daytime temp in the garage. Once it starts cooling off at night, I'll be able to blow the hot air out and draw in cooler night air. That's the best time to be in there.
80 and cloudy today. Only got .8" of rain out of the Issac thingy. Not enough to make much diffrence here. Still no water in the ravines. The grass is looking better.
Joe happy birthday to Mrs. Joe
DonB looking foward to the pictures of the build.
V8 80 mph on a bad tire could of been a bad bad thing.
Fife?????????
Made bacon and eggs with toast and am now waiting for the wife to get dressed and ready to go to the store for some food. That will take an hour or better for her to get ready.
Wife and I ran trains last night for about an hour. No Pile-Ups. Any of you have the MTH engine house 30-90422? I am thinking about biding on one but would like to see what an owner of one thinks first.
Have a nice day all!
Mango....?
AF53 DonB - You are a good friend to Bob. I hope you post pics from the beginning to the end, including the benchwork.
DonB - You are a good friend to Bob. I hope you post pics from the beginning to the end, including the benchwork.
Ray - I plan on taking some pictures of the build effort. Should be able to spend 2 or 3 days on it this next week. I want to get the table top up ASAP, while he has approval from his wife, and so that BOTH of them can SEE the reality of how big this layout is. Bob has a ton of accessories, dont know how they will all be integrated. He probably has the largest collection of stuff of anyone I know. It will also be interesting to see what happens to all the exercise equipment also in the room. Actually I'm looking forward to making it happen, hopefully will have stuff running in a few weeks.

Let's see, it's 71 and we are overcast but no rain.
Joe I hope your bride enjoyed her birthday. We have no plans for the weekend so I'm not sure what today will bring. I think granny has her flower beds squared away for now and we still have tomatoes, cukes and string beans growing. A good Tardis chat last night...S.J.
Good morning. It's 75° with 100% humidity. There's a slight chance of rain. It'll be mostly cloudy and the high will be 95° with an index of 105°.Looking at doing some cleanup on the layout this morning. Also planning on backing up my flash drives on DVD's.Other than that nothing much is going on.
Overcast here and a spot shower. Yesterday ripped of roof of outdoor fireplace. Stripped it down to bare plywood, had to take out all nails and replace bad plywood. Took me all day to do. Lots o nails and drip edes were full of em. Gotta let it go today have a picnic up at WIFEs UNCLES. So looks like I'll resume tomorrow if it don't rain. If it does then will have to let it dry a day or so. Still gotta put new felt down and new roll roofing but being a shed not really to worried about the rain on it. Need a train fix so if it does rain I'm running trains.
No run today gonna take a day off. First one in 7 weeks. I'll be walking dog though a few times today so gonna get some mileage in that way.
Next door neighbors got a new rescue dog, name is MANGO. MINNIE and MANGO get along real good. She is only a year old and MINNIE is approching 2 in October. They are good for each other.
