Sunny aand low 80's today.
Got my wife's computer back from the shop today. They eended up wipeing it and reinstalling Windows. Upgraded to Windows 7 while we were at it. Had an adveture with the wi-fi. Turned out to be a missind encryption key code for the router. Tried it on the tablet and finally got it talking to my wi-fi at home.
Not much on the train front. Got a RA number to get the sound fixed on my Hallow's Eve Express. Need to get that packaged and out the door to Lionel soon.
The Scott Joplin festival is in town this week. Planning on wandering around downtown on Saturday soaking up the live Ragtime music.
All for now.
v8 - Congrats on the sale man!
Banks - prayers for you and your family
Ray and BoC - prayers for healing.
Laz - just detention tomorrow, right?
Glad you are okay, SJ!
I'm beat, Pete. Got home and added the peat moss etc, then retilled the new planting area. Dug a new and longer trench and replaced the drain line (corrugated 4 inch) from the downspout so it goes about 5 feet further away from the house. I'll have to do some more work on that, but it's good enough for now. I sure liked that tiller - maybe get one for Father's Day. Need to do some short walls and gravel work around the driveway and stuff, so it would really help a lot.
TARDIS is ready and we have goodies, including Famous Banilla!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Ray, sorry to hear of the issues. As we get older and have more specialists on top of internists, etc, it is hard to keep things straight. I am glad you have confidence in your Doc. With regard to your triglycerides, one suggestion is to log everything that goes in your mouth for a couple of weeks. Some foods that we are told are good for use can have a negative effect in some ways. Then, take the journal to your doc or even an endocrinologist. We had a patient who was trying to control triglycerides and doing everything right. Still had high levels. In the end, he had been drinking orange juice and that was what was causing the trouble.
Spanky, I private messages you, but for everyone else heading to Florida in the next few months that has children and going to Legoland, if you search Pepsi Legoland promotion, they have a code you can get to buy tickets with free child with each adult ticket. It saved us $130.00. One site has the code you enter, then the Pepsi/Legoland site has the place to put the code and buy the tickets.
Hope everyone has a good night,
Dennis

Good morning all,
Had a frustrating day at my regular doctors appointment yesterday. They changed my appointment from 10:30AM to 2:45PM. That was no problem. However when I got there, no one was waiting ahead of me and I signed in. The assistant put me on the scales and checked BP, temp, heart rate, blood oxygen level etc. So far everything is normal. Then I sit in this examination room which is too hot by the way for 45 minutes before the doctor shows up. I had thought of everything I wanted to discuss with him about my GI condition and things my gastrointerologist was doing but by that time I had lost interest and was slightly angry. Have to give the doctor some slack here. He is a good doctor and probably had a good reason for being late. I was just the victim of a situation. I was dissapointed in my tryglyceride number. It had only come down from 314 to 305 after two months of double the amount of medication and more excercise. Only thing now is to steamline my diet and see what else I can eliminate. I told the doctor of my concern over lack of communication between me and my G.I. doctor. He said that he plans to coordinate better between the two of them about my condition. He is stepping up the frequency of my office visits and blood test to monitor things better. He said that the GI doctor was going to do an endoscopy too at some point but I don't know when. This is the first I have heard of that. Meanwhile, I am feeling half way decent and eating better. Went for about a 30 minute walk this morning and had a low fat breakfast.
Weather has been hot lately. Pool water is evaporating at a faster rate now. I almost overfilled it yesterday but caught it in time. Water is warm enough to swim now without a heater but I haven't been in yet.
V8 Dennis, congratulations on the rental sale. Hope it goes through with no trouble.
Might have Thursday night guys over for trains tonight if they can stand the heat.
Later,

Nice photos guy's. Doug how do those trains run without a middle rail? I am back home, stitches out, Now for the healing. I hope this little episode has ended. We just had sausage gravy over a muffin, it was good. I might cut grass today after my couch date...S.J.
DJ - What did you use to skin your curved bridges?
Aloha. Sunny and warmer. Still dry. Have a bunch of meetings to which I have to bring the youngest due to some scheduling 'miscommunication' - that's OK though. Brent, great photos! Banks, condolences to you and your dad. I was wondering how that works, Jon. I have a few more shots of the UP executive train - it wasn't the big one, Joe. Here's today's shot - looks like a model, right?

dwiemer Good morning. About to get ready to head in. Joe, the group didn't get the permit to protest. Who knows, may have been for their own safety. Either way, it all went well. Many businesses along the route closed for the procession and services. They pre-empted the local television stations as well. He was a big man, 6'8" and had a big heart. It was a IED that took his life. Dennis

Dennis -- The WBC group typically calls ahead to the grieving community to tell them they will be there and want protection while there, more often than not they do not show up. It can cause great strain to the LEO's trying to protect them when they do show up as every community in the USA despises their presence and their objective. Thanks to the PGR the families rarely see or hear the WBC, I could share many stories about them but they are not worth it.

Good Mornings CTTFans!
WOW, what a night, the storm went into overdrive about 1AM with Rail, Hail, and Wind that pounded for over an hour. Reports of flooding and damage coming in but mostly local issues for those unlucky enough to live at the bottom of hills and/or near drains that got clogged. Our work parking lot is filled the leaves from the trees. Large Icebergs of hail near most storm drains and grassy areas look like it's covered in snow. They say Round #2 might be heading at us again tonight. My poor neighbor and 5yrds of dirt in front of his house for a weekend project and I would say about 20% of it washed down the street so he is shoveling it today to bring back up the hill to his house.

Good morning. It's 69° and partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. The high will be 92° with a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon decreasing top 20% in the evening. Storms came through yesterday ind screwed up the cable again. Except for brief periods here and there I couldn't get online and when I could the speed was so slow it'd take five minutes for a page to load. This happens a lot more often than I'd like and is more than mildly irritating. If it wasn't for my phone service I probably would have changed to satellite by now. Of course then I'd have the clouds to contend with. My Magic-jack needs an upload speed of at least 128 kb/s minimum to operate and satellite only provides 56 kb/s. Yeah, they talk about it being so fast on the TV ads but that's comparing to dial-up, sorta like comparing a two cylinder riding mower engine to a battery powered weed eater. Comparing the satellite speed to what I have right now is like comparing that same two cylinder mover engine to a small block V8. I've been looking at the new Magic-jack Plus that doesn't need to be connected to a computer like my existing Magic-jack does but it still needs to be connected to a modem, so the cable problem is still there. It'd be nice if it could work through the house wiring, then I could skip the cable altogether. But alas, it doesn't appear to work that way. Today I need to see if I can get the layout cleaned up some. It gets cluttered so fast when I'm working on things.

Brent, great photos.
Off to fix the "pond riding mower". Then bench work.
Later.
IIABSDISEI with temps near 80. Weather was good last night, but the team was not as we got beat 3-1. I did ok for me, and was not the cause of any of the scores. Quiet day at work. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Laz, unfortunately, I have the same internal clock. Even on days when I don't have to go in early, I am up. Has really worked against me when I would get home at 0200, then up at 0400. Even on Saturdays!
Roy, we too are getting rain, fortunately, it is manageable amounts. Just hope it doesn't get to the flood stages you had in Texas several years ago.
Hope each of you has a blessed day.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cool 52 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 77 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a few chores to do and then a big errand to run. I will be gone for a few hours. Hope to be home by lunchtime. Then, my usual nap.

Happy retirement Laz. Feels great doesn't it? Now, see that alarm clock that's been waking you up all those years? Take it outside and set it on a tree stump or a large wood block and using the biggest sledge hammer you can find smash it flatter than yesterdays pancakes. Then go get a NEW clock to wake yourself up for an early start on the honey-do's. Now that you have all this spare time (yeah, right. I work harder now than I did at the wood shop!) that list is gonna get big fast.
Konbanwa,
The weather was pretty fair today; partly cloudy and warm enough. I spent the majority of the workday taking care of administrative tasks. We had a hodgepodge of things for dinner tonight so I had Frosted Flakes. Last night I spoke to Walter Matuch from RMT. I’ve been trying to order the Air Force coal hopper set for the past week or so but I could never get the website to accept my address. Walter said he would take care of it. I’m looking forward to running these hoppers with my RMT Air Force missile flatcars.
Doug M. – That is a very cool find. Did you take more photos of the cars? Thanks for sharing.
Dennis – I hope the funeral goes well and no knuckleheads try to mess up the dignity of this event.
Congratulations to Fifepup!
Brent – Great photos. I think you captured the most important part of the trip in the photos.
V8 – I hope the sale goes through.

Joe

Kev - get well soon, bro.
Nice chat with SJ and Kev tonight. Met with sister (Denise) and her family, as well as my brother Johnny and his wife for dinner at a local BBQ place (Bandanas). They all came over to check out my progress on the basement project. Had a few brewskies and some good talk.
Almost there, Laz! Start counting the hours, brother!
Tomorrow night I have to finish with the tiller so I can get it back to Jeff. Not much to do, really.
TARDIS is ready and we have Sam Adams, rootbrew and banilla. All aboard!
Good evening everyone. Just home....hope to stay here for awhile. With any luck, won't have to go back. We have had quite a bit of work with some bigger type cases. This, coupled with a new program to reduce costs as prompted by the new healthcare law. Instead of efficiency and getting things done in a timely manner, they are opting for staging operations so you follow, one after another. Means they can work with fewer people, but also means longer waits and longer days.
For our retired and retiring folks here, while I congratulate you, it also brings on a sense of sadness. Many highly skilled workers are leaving the workforce and taking great experience with them. I learned doing machinist work at my dad's business, and he had learned it at an early age as an apprentice. While I could never achieve the skill that he has, I certainly have much respect for people who do. I have a Swedish Mauser that was made in the 1800s. It is so well crafted, even all the hand tap and die screws line up with the length of the rifle....even the slots are perfectly straight down the length. You don't see that these days.
Well, today our dog has started with a bad cough, turns out to be "kennel cough" from when we had him at the kennel while we went on vacation. For those who have not experienced their dog having this virus, it makes them hack as if they swallowed a chicken bone. It can be scary if you don't know what to look for.
Time for bed, God bless,
