Hope Chief is awake at the switch tonight! About to run headlong into JULY already!
Watching Lionel Nation 4, good "episode". Meant to play with the fastrack today, but never got to it - had to run up to the bank and sign some stuff in the presence of a bank official - re-sign I should say. Two months after we filed for the refi to get money for the retaining wall, they can't read my signature? UH - it's my signature, that's what it looks like! I told the local bank lady that this has been the 3rd or 4th time that we have gotten an email or letter on Friday with a drop dead deadline of MONDAY for something we already had done. We are not happy campers. We have been customers for 20 plus years, have a great credit rating, and they have had all our business including loan(s), cards, and accounts. We are trying to purchase a service for a great deal of money - next time it won't be a problem for them any more and they can kiss our custom goodbye.
Everything is settling down at last. We have plans in place to take care of mom for her surgeries and appointments. Dad has promised to be good while Mom is getting her treatment. He has a psych appt at the VA on Tuesday to deal with his problems - he is not taking this well at all. He is afraid he will lose Mom and I get that, as she does a lot for him. Her prognosis is very good and we are pretty sanguine about her coming ordeal, but it will be a hard road for her for sure. They should make cigarettes illegal.
TARDIS is ready and I'm looking forward to some Blue Moons and popcorn in the lounge car. We have some Old Mills, Banilla, A&W rootbeer, and some PBR that was on sale. Go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Just 82 right now. I can't shake this headache! And I get dizzy once in a while too but nothin I can't handle.. If it still gives me a problem tomorrow I'll get it checked out. Gonna try gettin to sleep again.

Calling it a night early tonight. I have a hell of a headache. Went to my parents place for pizza earlier today. I was driving back home and got shot in the side of the head. Bet that grabbed your attention! Paint ball. And boy did it hurt! Good thing I was only going fifteen mph. Well I came home and got cleaned up and this is going to be the end of my night. See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening...
Welm...that was a treat...went to WallyWorld and, believe it or not, nothing happened .... I guess maybe it was because the 'characters' were out in full regalia today... Pink Tutus on 400lb individuals, batman suits on others....the lot
Anyways, ended up getting some new duds ..to fit my new weight...28 waist now.... I have not been at this weight since, oh, high school.

SPManOnly time I can go in the train room now is in the morning or at night.
Good morning all,
BOC, prayers for your ongoing battle.
Wife slept late today so I took my walk alone before it got too hot. Only time I can go in the train room now is in the morning or at night.
Going to train meet tomorrow unless something changes.
V8 Dennis, I had one of those water evaporator coolers for years both at this house and the one before. They seem to work well in this part of the country. I have A/C now in the house but I miss the swamp cooler sometimes. My old one is still next to the house but shut down. When they repiped my house they did not put in a water connection where it is so I would have to redo that if I ever wanted to use it again.
Jeffrey, I assume your layout is in the house. Nice to be able to run anytime.
Can anyone on here tell me where I can buy a car canopy. I think Sam's club has them but I don't belong to that one. I go to Costco. My cars take a beating in the sun because I use the garage for a train room. Also I have to conform to city ordinances about placement. They are pretty picky yet I see a lot of other violations all over town with other things.
later,
Ray

It's 77, going to93. Still no rain. and none expected. BOC wishing you all the best when the results are in. Ray sounds like the birthday girl picked a good dining spot. That would work for me as well. I never needed fancy. BLT for breakfast so I am ready for the day..S.J.
Good Morning All!
5 days since I last read, chatty bunch!
Had a great time at Yankee Stadium the other night and my favorite niece Michele HudsonJohn went with us. It was a fast game and we were all home by 12:30.
By Wed the heat wave hit here and temps were steady in the mid 90's. So what breaks down? Yup the central air! Finally got it fixed Friday afternoon.
Thur was my wife's birthday and as the birthday girl she got to choose were we go for dinner. She chose Stewarts. She loves thier pizza burgers!
Fri my number one daughter signed her name 100 times as she had her house closing! She and her husband can now say they are now a homeowner.
Today I'm taking off from work to work around the house? My wife's cousin from Texas is in town and we are having a BBQ tomorow.
BOC - Fingers crossed and prayers said.
HudsonJohn - Shelves still not up yet!
Fife - Sounds like Ground Hog Day! Me too.
Have a great weekend all!

Good morning. It's 78° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95° but will feel like 104°.I may mow the parents yard today. Haven't decided yet. I woke up feeling tired so maybe I'll skip it today. Still no change in the paint on the Norscot bulldozer. I'm thinking that no matter what concentration of alcohol I use (currently 91%) the paint will stay put. Oh well, the experiment was still worth the time.
Aloha! Hot again. Just a spritz of rain for all the sound and lights. Chief, love the 'tribute'! Jack, I have some ways to go to catch up to your BiL. That's a great run! I'll get the a/c fixed up - and van overhauled before taking it up to the UP next month. Good news, Dennis! Off to a graduation party and to drop the youngest with my FiL so he can take him to a parade. Everything is scheduled funny with July 4th in the middle of the week. Still, not the timing, but the day matters

Good morning everyone. Yeah BOC, the photo did not show up here, but is on my Facebook page. The "edit" section shows the photo in full size if I click on it, so not sure how to fix here. Oh well.I am still home and hope to remain so. Supposed to get to 110 with heat index, 104 without. We have the "Freedomfest" tomorrow evening, but I will not be able to attend. Hate it as we have a number of great things. Barrel Racing, military parachute team, military working dogs, one of the heros from Somolia, and of course, fireworks.
We are waiting on next word regarding the adoptions. Any day now, we will get notice that our information is at the US consulate and following that, the information that the US government will allow us to bring the kids home goes to the Chinese government. Then, they send us a Travel Approval which is the official document that invites us to go get the kids. We should have a week to ten days notice, but last time, we were told on a Thursday afternoon that we needed to be in China Saturday morning.
With any luck, I will get some layout time in, but right now, I will settle for a nap. My body hurts from this last week.
God Blesss,
Dennis.
PS: currently have "The Great Train Story" on DVR from the Museum of Science and Industry. Gotta love RFD-TV.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Big thunder-boomers last night in the Mid-Atlantic region. Actually called everyone down to the middle of the house for 10 minutes...that kinda big. Will be picking up sticks today. On vacation this week. Only the second time in 27 years I've taken off the 4th. Would like to watch fireworks from the yatchet, but that depends on the weather.
Buckeye - Happy Anniversary!
rt - Happy Anniversary!
Good Morning
We are going to be up to 90F today with little humidity...in the evening, however, it will be 85F feeling like 99F...ain't that fun? Yes, it is!! No, it isn't...well who cares anyways....
Why am I up so dang early? One of the wonderful side effects of chemo is its induced insomnia....
Another is my weird sense of humour takes it to a new level...on another forum I am on I bid a crabby poster..one of those who comes on only to attack another member..with a 'fond adieu'......and a cat pic from icanhascheeseburger.com....
Today, I am going to go to Walmart..with the proverbial mask on just to see what the reactions will be...
dw: uuummmm...it did not take?
Brutus and others: Thanks so much for the prayers and support!!
Well, good dark early morning. Just getting home from an all day work effort as just another overpaid, underworked loafer in the healthcare industry ;-). We had a long day with some pretty big cases. All did fine, but with the streamlining, we make due with less and so it drags the days longer. Chief, you are too funny. You going to include that special tunnel portal?
Some time ago, we were talking about Op Sail. Tonight I came across this, from back home:
Nothing much going on today - worked, picked up some dinner, ate with kids, played on xbox, and the Char got home and sent me out to get her some food. I had a nice chat with SJ and we have the banilla on board the TARDIS now - hard work in this heat!
BOC - Prayers!
Happy Birthday to your wife, RT - and Happy Anniversary to you both!
TARDIS ready - let's go!
Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
RT,
Happy Anniversary.
Chief,
I remember it like it was last week. Glad it's gone now.
Jack,
I was going to say something about how dependable Mazdas are, but with 195,600 on one, I am not going to push my luck. I know what happens when I do.
Not much on the train front this week, other than losing an auction for a 314AW control box in the last few seconds. Picked up a drywall screw in a tire on the 97GT. Spent my lunch break yesterday trying to change it only to find that the lug wrench was the right size to remove all but one nut, and also that the 15.5 years in PA have made using the scissor jack dicey. It isn't real bad, but I'd rather not play 'What's Still Solid Thanks to Salt?'. Used a can of Fix A Flat to get me home. Not ideal, but didn't have much choice. Shopping for tires now.
Had to take the Mustang today, so I parked as far and away as possible. I wanted a spot that is too far for the "have nots" and "too lazy to works" to walk to think about damaging anything. Also gave the Barton shifter a workout. Much better than the MGW I tried. No excuses, just solid performance right out of the box.
It's 82 now, didn't get as hot today just to low 90s. No Rain here either. Everything is drying up. We sat on the front porch till almost 10 pm. It was mostly a do nothing day. The banilla is safe in the freezer, and there it will stay until the Tardis arrives...S.J
cnw1995 Jack, the minivan is 12 years old with 124K miles on it. I think the a/c is as 'tired' as the rest of it. But it still keeps going. Got my 2nd eye scheduled for Mon.

Doug.....my son-in-law has a 2001 Mazda MPV minivan with 209,000 miles on it. You have a ways to go to catch him. He drives it daily and......the A/C still works great!!!!
We'll keep our fingers crossed for your eye procedure Monday.

Hiiiiiiffft...
Got the session done...and, found that I now weigh 145lbs....eeek!!! Of course it is from not feeling very well a lot of the time and eating very little..which, of course, made it rather interesting vis a vis my diabetes and other ills...
Next appointment is going to be a general check to see if it took..which it [curse mode]beeeep[/curse mode] better have
Chief: on beige desert.....
Afternoon, well, evening all. Long day. "Wind changed" and Wifey didn't want to go to the lake house. Something about too hot for the beach area and Mirra [the cat] having to stay home in the heat.
So, slep till 7:30, went and repaired a bird bath with concrete patch. Then hit the upstairs and started removing the last of the track and switched still left. Fred came and we started in the Box. Built the peninsula. Then the little "nook" section to make the crossing [with lift bridge] from main layout to the peninsula. The other side is attached to the main layout. Peninsula is 16 foot long and will make a nice switching yard. It is now painted. The only thing left is the mountain area and the entrance bridge area. As for the Box heatpump/A/C, does great. Even with the big sliding door opening and closing all day. Afternoon hottest sun hits the windows and that big door. Got two windows with blinds. Closed them. Getting blinds for the other three. Been surprised how well it works. Have a rotating tower fan in the middle that distributes the cool air to the corners of the Box. No walls to block the air except the workshop that is on the shady cooler side of the Box.
Doug M., I must have missed the loss of a "faimly member". Sorry.
Go Yankees.
Now for a shower and shave. Then several tomato sanswiches [getting big ones now].
BTW: Some remember a former poster from Matheun, MA that ran down my layout and called it a barren desert layout. Well, just in his "honor", I have painted the SoundStop desert beige. You will see in the photos later.
Hi GUYZ,
Hit 100 here today. Got walk to river, run done. Came back ate breakfast and started the final 2 post holes. In sun, wasn't long all the beer from last nite came out of me. Got all the holes done then took shower and said thats it. Went inside and reelaxed in AC.

CHUCK and BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!!
Stay frosty,

Aloha and TGIF. Thanks for your kind goods about Peppermint. He was a good companion. The bride has already picked out a few future 'replacements'. Nice ride on the TARDIS last eve. Storms rolled through this am - little rain, lots of thunder, but it broke the temps down into the 80s. BoC, hope today's chemo goes smoothly. Jack, the minivan is 12 years old with 124K miles on it. I think the a/c is as 'tired' as the rest of it. But it still keeps going. Got my 2nd eye scheduled for Mon. Did anyone see the new Lionel Christmas catalog. Love the Thomas items in it!
Jeff you need to put a power inverter in the van and get a 5,000 BTU a/c and mount it in one of the rear door windows. I've seen a few like that actually and my point if it works and keep me comfortable do it.
Time to go make something for dinner swiss steaks are still frozen so they will be dinner tomorrow night.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

RockIsland52 Jeffrey.........your comment and that of DougM about automotive air conditioning that isn't working has me picturing the two of you driving around with a meat thermometer in your mouths. And good luck getting your Dad to cave in to a lower sugar diet. If he is anything like my FIL, a miracle will be required for such significant lifestyle changes. And I hope in the process you are taking better care of yourself. I was thinking of you and your train room air conditioning unit when I was monkeying with mine yesterday.

Man, it's 91° and feels like 107°! The humidity is 46%. I got the bills paid, got the vans tank filled and got the first half of the groceries. Dang engine vapor locked at Wal-Mart again. Seems there and the bank are the only two places it does it. A shot of staring fluid and it fires right up. Long as I was moving the heat was tolerable but if I had to stop or slow down in traffic it started heating up inside that old van big time. No a/c, no vent blower, the humidity and the temp was kicking my butt. I had the windows down but that doesn't do any good if there's no air movement. Got back home and one of my nephews friends had my driveway blocked. So I hit the air horn a few times and he comes running out to get his truck out of the way. Would've been nice if he parked it out of the way in the first place. The groceries that needed refrigeration were still cold. Got everything unloaded and put away. Now I'm just trying to get cool again.

Lunch time. Well the rain missed us by about 2 miles to the north. Worked on some low cost grade crossing for the layout. They will do. Yeah Ray I know he is. Maybe they sit in the back room and draw straws to see who will cross the party line when they think they know what the right answer is but don’t want to show it or admit to it. I try not to get too upset about things, hard on the stomach you know.
