Roy - Good thinking!  We should probably start with the high dollar steam engines, since they would be the most vulnerable from sitting too long.

Konbanwa,

Today was the wife’s first full day back from her vacation.  Her body hasn’t fully adjusted yet so she was awake by 0500 which is about three hours too early for her.  I took leave from work until next week so I could be home helping her adjust.  It rained most of the day but it was decently warm.  However, the rain did stop early enough for the baseball team to still have practice.  My email to the parents worked as the kids were well behaved tonight and practice ran smoothly.  I hope it continues this way.  It’s time for some schoolwork and then hopefully I can get to bed before it gets too late.

Has CTT had any CTT boxcars or other cars produced recently?  If so, where can I buy one?

Happy Birthday Rich! Happy B-Day

SP Ray – Happy Birthday to your wife!   I hope you are feeling better.

Kev – Adding smoke to the cabin was pretty neat.Thumbs Up

Chuck – I’m glad your progress is going so well; keep it up.

Sayonara,

Joe

Fife and Roy

Good Thinking Guys, but don't think it would work.  Just look at all the problems the UP has had this past couple of weeks with UP stock in Texas!  As most of my junk is a form of UP or derivative, it would never make it.

Just added the Goose,

Also added the Hobby Shop and Playground

Thanks for the offer though, anyway what would I do with an empty room?  I hear Buckeye is on the roam, that would be trouble.

First Happy Birthday to Rich, covered the other one yesterday.

52 and cloudy. The one thing we missed was the Strasburg RR, I wanted to take Brutus over there but I wasn't driving and was outvoted 2 to 2. They wanted to grab a good parking spot at the museum. Today we are having the last of our old alum. frame windows replaced. I didn't get them all at once because I wanted to pay as we go. Oatmeal is on the table..S.J.

Hi Gents

Another cool sunny and dry day here in North central Illinois.

Not much in the plan today will just see what comes. I have an order from Model Train stuff that should show today. I am going to replace my two 027 yard switches with 042.

RT you are correct I mean the toy and miniature poodles the ankle bitters if you will. Still even the large ones look silly when you give them the cut like Finn"s.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief, sure looks like you have your work cut out for you on the inside of the box. I am sure it will be nice when your done.

Brutus thanks for the pictures.

Chuck glad you got something for the sinus thingy. Smile

Blownout CYL a back up gen set is a good thing to have. I wired it to a ten circuit manual transfer box to make it easy for the wife to use if I am gone. Just start it up, plug it in and flip the switch. Yes

Joe, Sounds like the e-mail did the trick.  Whistling

DonB those are some nice add ons you got there, I have been wanting a goose. But I think my next buy will be a Conventional two truck Shay. I need to save for that one.

Later, have a good day.

Good Morning CTTFans!

It's 54F with a bit of clouds today and we should stay out of the 80's today which is nice.  I saw yesterday that Atlas RR is shutting down their forums for good so we might be seeing new members here in the coming days / weeks; please help me Welcome them.  If you have friends from there please given them a shout and have them come over here...

Fifey,  Its not that difficult, just convince Fifeywifey to go shopping for a day.  And you too can expand your train room to a ready made display case.

Good morning all,

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes for my wife.  We had a nice steak dinner last night with cooconut shrimp appetizer.  Got wife a funny birthday card that plays music.  It has a big chicken on the front and when you open it, it plays the chicken dance.  Pretty cool!

Chief, thanks for the extensive photo coverage of work on the inside of the box.  It will be nice when you are finished I'm sure but looks like a lot of work.

D.Baker, nice looking accessories on your layout.  I like the playground and the goose.  That one must be the freight version.  I assume the one at Knott's is for passengers and or freight.

Regarding my previous comments on Union Pacific steam engine #844, my theory of what caused the flat wheels just took another turn.  I read yesterday that now they think the student engineer who was running it at the time put it in reverse thereby locking up the driving wheels.  The post I read on another forum said that close up video of the driving wheels at the time of the stop indicated that the brake shoes were not against the wheels.  Therefore, the only other way to lock the wheels is to put the engine in reverse.  Steam engines have something called a "mountain cut out "  I'll use the word rooster for a synonym here since the editors will not let me use the correct word which keeps the brakes on the driving wheels only cut out so that the remaining wheels on the engine (lead and trailing trucks) and the tender could be used for braking without overheating the driving wheels on decending grades.  Sounds like the student engineer overshot his stopping spot and over reacted trying to stop.  Too bad for him.  I don't think he will be given another chance after all the money U.P. is spending getting this corrected.  Latest news is that all driving wheels have been removed and sent out to two different sources to be repaired.  The engine is now just resting on it's four wheel lead truck and four wheel trailing truck with nothing in the middle where the drivers were.

Had a short rain last night but it came down heavy when it did.  Clearing and cooler today.

Got a late phone call from my sister with the cancer in North Carolina last night and we talked for about an hour.  She likes to talk a lot (Southerner) and she is a night owl.  Finally had to excuse myself due to cauliflower ear and need for bathroom break.  I asked her about planting the tomatoes but did not chastize her for working in the garden.  Wouldn't do any good anyway.  She got a good report from her oncologist on her most recent check up.  Her quality of life is still very good and the prognosis is for a long survival time at this point.

Still maintaining status quo on G.I. problems.  No better, no worse.

Brutus, thanks for the photos from the Choo Choo Barn.  I really was impressed with that place when I was there a long time ago.  Cool looking real Lionel caboose at the caboose motel I assume.

Roy, should get our left over rain heading your way soon.

later,

Ray

Kev,

Don't think the PM went through.

Called MGW about the shifter.  I spoke to the owner, who told me that what I was experiencing wasn't possibleConfused, and suggested several "workarounds".  He said that the shifter can't be returned, even though it has less than 20 miles on it.  It is differently overhyped.  Best workaround was reinstalling the stock shifter.

Good afternoon. It's 83 here and partly sunny.

I went to pick my mother up for her doctor appointment this morning. Naturally there were problems. She couldn't find her wallet that has all her medical cards in it. The last time she came home from the hospital my father had it and he can't remember what he did with it. I looked for it from one end of the house to the other (that's a LOT of house to search) and couldn't find it. I did everything just short of turning the house upside down and shaking it out. I even went out and searched the car on the off chance it was left there. No success. She had to do without the cards. They have all that on file at the docs office anyway. We had to make a stop on the way to the docs office to drop the smaller of the two poodles at the groomers. She was getting badly overheated last night due to her fur being too thick. So she's getting a 'puppy cut' so she'll stay cool. She had to be wrapped in a damp towel last night to get her cooled down. Got to the docs office and got my mother in to be seen without a problem. They did whatever they had to do and we left. I went by Churches Chicken and got her a couple of tender strips and a biscuit for lunch then took her home. My father was home from work by that time so I let him know to call the groomer to see when the dog was ready. He's probably picked her up by now. A little while later I drove my van into town in search of a gas station that didn't want the house, the first born and all future earnings. I had $20 to use to get some gas. I found a small place I sometimes go to that had it for $3.69 a gallon. I spent $16 on that then went by the Wal-Mart deli and got a roast beef and cheddar French loaf sandwich for a late lunch when I got home. Since then I've been watching some TV, checking out some forums I usually go to and generally taking it easy. After all the activity this morning my foot is trying it's best to make me miserable. So far it's succeeding magnificently. No work on the layout today.

Well they sent 4 guys to install 3 upper bedroom windows, I think they were done and gone in less than an hour 30. I had some chat time with Charlie today we were just talking trains. A short visit with # 1 son and that was my day. No Banilla yet, but maybe soon. Chat time is next...S.J.
