so thats what that was thought it looked kinda scary and funny place for it to be by the trains then realize it was his protection device for his trains to keep unwanted visitors from them. Smart move.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Taxachusetts,

Nearby points just West and North of me topped 90 yesterday, but the ocean breezes kept my high around 78.  All of the fronts carrying rain my way have arrived without dropping any appreciable precipitation.  For the first time ever I may have to break out the hoses and sprinklers before June.  The lawn is green but looking sick.  More of the same weather today, albeit cooler.

Yesterday was a Taxachusetts holiday, Patriots Day, celebrating the first shots fired in the Revolutionary War.  The Red Sox home game started in the AM!!!!!  That was followed by the Boston Marathon.  The downtown Boston area was gridlocked all day as might be expected, with some areas closed down to vehicular traffic and with the influx of competitos and spectators.  I'll bet there were more than a few folks visiting hospitals after they attempted "suicide by marathon."  Estimates say 2,100 were treated for dehydration.  That's right!  2,100.

The first of  the boys are off to York this morning.  Wishing all of you who are going safe travels and good times.  The rest of us will try to hold down the fort until you return.

DDG - I think I'm fighting the same thing you are.  Still tired and can't seem to get rid of the cough.  Its been a week since I first got the bug.  Thought I was going to mow the lawn after work - cough, right no problem - cough, hack, hack, cough, cough.............

Jeffery - that magic smoke that makes the electronic gizmos work does have a distinctive smell, dosn't it.

Nice chat with the guys tonight.  Played some xbox and told my buddies I'll see them Sunday probably.  Everything is packed except for some personal grooming stuff, which will go in the bag in the morning.  I put one suitcase inside another in case I find some deals at York, but think it would cost me like 35 bucks extra for 2 bags coming back.  Oh well, might be worth it if they won't ship cheaper.

Everything got done today..did the eTax thing, paid some other bills, got groceries, got LHS supplies...

Time for me to call it a night. Did a little work on the layout today and replaced a popped decoder. I just happened to notice while the Frankenstein trio was running around the layout that the lead units headlight wasn't on. I pressed F0 on the controller to turn it on and nothing and then I noticed the locos wheels weren't turning. A Stewart F unit is fairly hefty but the other two locos were pushing it around the layout like it was a feather. The three of them together weigh four and a half pounds with the second unit being the heaviest. I never saw any smoke from the lead unit. But when I sniffed it I knew. No mistaking THAT odor! Took about two minutes to program the new decoder with the information it would need and about ten minutes to install it. Put the shell back on and back into service it went. Got a short video of the GP7's at the shop. No motion but there's sound.

I agree with the above Brent unless your clueless on lawn work ( which I think your far from being ) I would not use a lawn care service as its way too expensive and I have know a few all in different areas that was not happy at all with Scott's to be honest with you.

I'm sure theres ones that are but you normally hear about the ones not befor you hear about ones that are thats just normal :)

Well didn't get much done train wise today other than got the trains off the shelf and did predrill the holes in the track and painted the screws and the holes for the screws. guess Thursday we will find out more as have Dr tomorrow and Wed . well guess it's time to relax as did get some outside work done today

 Go to your local farm service supplier and  get some soil sample kits. it is the only way to find out what you need. If your like me may just be some lime to bring down the PH levels so the grass can grow.

 Soil sample kits are around $25. and they will tell you the story. Then you can put down what you need and none of the other stuff.

Depending on how much pressure is involved it could blow out any compression seals. I had a supply line blow out on the bottom of a toilet tank. I had to turn the water off and reinsert the line and re-tighten the compression seal. I also closed the main valve partially to cut back the pressure coming into the trailer to about thirty pounds. So far it's held for fifteen years.

Brent goto bobs train box theres a product at the end copy the name and post it in search till you get that company I believe its sold excursively by Lowe's but they have some reading but can tell you what to do when to get your lawn where you want it. I went in and looked as my yard is well red clay and crab grass lol

Afternoon all. Nice day out side so painting screws first ( will explain in the future) then painted the cat house ( like a dog house but for outside stray cats) next will start working on the layout need to clear the table a little more so can get up there to work on layout ( table is this heavy!!! table that was outside the auction house about a year ago and I brought it home and now use it as a work table its about 4' x 4' and the legs are 4"x4" at about 28" hight the table top appears to be a little better than 1" thick solid wood not pressed or anything like that. any way need to either move the table actually or put a small step ladder on it so I can get above the shelf layout to see what I'm doing. (yes the latter sounds like a Brent move)

Brent, that yard work sounds daunting.  I figure the moss in my yard is green and goes so well with the weeds. 

Doug - Lesson learned. NEVER, and I mean, NEVER, buy a house in the winter - unless you can see the lawn. TheQ and I bought this house when we had 4 inches of snow and ice and didn't see the yard till we moved in.

The backyard is nearly 100% moss, the right side yard is such a mess the grass grows in small clumps with bare dirt between, and left side yard is nearly 100% clover, and the front there are large bare areas because I can't figure out what type of grass will grow in those areas. I know I need to get someone in from Scotts or something to identify what the underlying issues are, but I really want to do some hardscaping in both front and back first... time and $$$.

It's 34F and sunny here in the Mile High.  Got a bit of rain and a slight dusting on snow over the weekend; not allot but enough.  Should be shooting back up into the 70's for the next several days.

Aloha and Happiness and safe travels to all the Yorkies! More storms overnight. But we need the rain. Very windy ride in.There was a nice newsprint train in North Ave Yard (which we pass through every day). old Soo Line, CN, CP, GTW, Railbox, WC... Kelly said she a good birthday so I can relax for another year. Finished up with Pirates of Penzance which was a nice show.
