Hi GUYZ,
Well went out with Flintlock at MOMs on Saturday. Beautiful day at 54 degrees, had small game clothing on. First push, had a strip of land about half a mile long and about 500 yrds wide that has factories about a quarter mile to one side and strip mines to the other side. Had BRO on stand and I did the push about 300 yards into the drive I suprised 4 doe. They jumped up started running to BRO, I called him on walkie talkie and said deer are running to you. They came to him about 40 yards from stand and he had hammer back, whistled they stopped he pulled trigger and flint hit frizzen and no spark. Pulled back again and tried another shot and spark and no ignition. Deer turned and walked away toward plant. He called me back and told me they were heading toward the plant. I jogged up that way and saw them on side of bank about 80 yards away. But because of the plant couldn't shoot. Watched them as they ascented the bank and walked about 10 yards from the tractor trailors all the way out to the next set of woods. Smart deer. Did a bunch more pushes but didn't see any more deer. Oh well just another bag full of memories. I still have another week. Maybe go after school a few days or just next Saturday morning? Came home and watched the 96th Pa. Farm SHOW with MOM til 11PM. BULLs beat the HSers 10-1. They only one that rode a full 8 sec. was an Alumni now college kid. He was pretty good.
BANKs did you go out with the musket?
KEV and JOE, GREAT PICS!!! Love da shelves JOE. KEV looks like you have a good engineer there. Bet she loves the whistles.

Good afternoon. Got my day shot down this morning. My mother decided she wanted to go shopping this morning. First Wal-Mart (hour) then Stage (Two hours). Stopped at Las Mayos for late lunch the back home. I just got back a short while ago. Now my ankle husts too much to even think about cleaning up the layout. Now I need to re-wrap my ankle then I may see if I can get a little sleep.
traindaddy1 Now, on to Green Bay.
Now, on to Green Bay.
Here! Here!
Good afternoon all, went to January TTOS Southwestern Div. meet today in Arcadia. Nice weather but a little breezy with Santa Ana winds.
Train meet was well attended but I only stayed for about an hour. My back starts to hurt after about 45 minutes on my feet. Thought about buying some Fastrack manual switches for $25 each but took a pass. Price seemed OK but I don't use Fastrack on my layout, just around the Christmas Tree. Other than that, I did not see anything I needed or wanted. Not too many old friends at meet either. I guess we are all disappearing with age.
My friend with the prostate cancer got some good news that it was localized and had not spread beyond the prostate. He has to decide on what kind of treatment to take. I think he is about 77. I think he is thinking of chemo rather than surgery because he is the primary care giver for his wife who is disabled and he can't afford to be layed up from four to six weeks after surgery.
My own sister with cancer is holding her own and still getting around well. I need to give her a call soon.
Had a good talk with next door neighbor about his son who plays drums. We have tried to come to some kind of accomodation so the kid can practice without annoying us too much. It doesn't bother me because I'm about half deaf anyway but it does bother my adult son. We suggested that the son play drums when my son is gone three days a week and any other time when he is not around. I really appreciate good neighbors who are willing to work things out like that.

Kev, great picture of the grandaughter. Over the years I have had 5 grandkids take charge of the controls.

I helped on the modular layout from 9 to 1. Tried an hour resting on the couch but the nap didn't come. Lions offense played very well but the D-Fence still needs a lot of work. I am happy that they finally are winning some games. I'm gonna have me some leftovers in about an hour. 1 day and turkey sandwich's are fine, but when we reach turkey surprise I'm done..S.J.

Morning all!
Got a lot done on the train tables yesterday. We have expanded my old layout from 8 x 12 to 8 x 20! Track planning almost done, we just have to agree between 2 plans we came up with. Layout is at dining table height so perfect for kids viewing at the upcoming show (Jan 21-22). Ready to start wiring extensions, painting the scenary base, and securing track (tinplate tubular). Going this afternoon to continue the work.
Started the day yesterday assisting SHMBO with weeding front beds which we are going to have removed as soon as we can this spring. We no longer have the energy to mess with flower beds and with the predictions of no rain through this summer and new water restrictions (which is NO watering of landscape at all - only foundations) there is no point in having the beds anyway. The heat here in the summer kills everything in a flower bed if you cannot water almost daily.
KEV and Demay - great photos of the wall train shelves and Kev - I really like that AF set!
Chief - don't worry - I will be continuing the GRITS invasion for spring York.
Fife - I don't know - that radiator issue sure seems like a lot of cockpit error
Jack - for your friend Frank.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
Good morning. It's 63° and mostly cloudy with patchy fog. The high will be 72°. There's a 20% chance of isolated showers. Now that I've gotten some projects done I have to deal with the end result. The work area is a mess. After I get that cleaned up I can think about making the junkyard. No other plans for today.
Great pictures Joe,
Nice shelves.
Trains and Plains it don't get better than that.
If you can't always run them at least have them out.

Mornin' boys. Partly sunny & 43 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. The night got better. Went to Wifey's co-worker's 60th, and the host had some AF engines and rolling stock on display. Led to conversation, and a future YORK inhabitant. Then, my buddy Tom came over, and brought his Chessie GM50 (which I covet), and left it for me to do a little photojournalism. Ran trains for a couple hours (with Yeung's) and NO PILE-UPS. Grocery shopping today.
Test post from New Thunderbolt. Droid gone.

Konbanwa,
I wanted to post a few photos before heading off to bed. The photos are of my caboose and the shelves I installed in my two sons' rooms. The older son has less space than the 18-month-old but he also needs room for his planes. The shelves come from Ikea and I'm hoping I can squeeze a third row in the younger son's room.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cold and frosty 28 degrees. Going up to 52 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I plan on going down to the train room and running trains. Need to finish cleaning the track and dusting the cars. I want to make a day of it. I need to relax.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Early Church and then go to In-laws and work on box removal. Calling for showers tomorrow and rain Wed. Have to get it ready for Thurs. if not too much rain and ground too soft. Meetings scheduled to mess up your days too.
Kev, great photos. Want to get this project done so my two Grandsons [who are back in the picture] can "help" me and Granddaughter when she is a little older.
Later and God bless.
Konnichiwa,
I was up way too late last night/this morning finishing some schoolwork. I went to bed without setting the alarm since the wife and kids are usually awake by 0800 on Sunday. Well, for some reason everyone decided to sleep late and we did not wake up until 0930. We skipped church because we would have had to rush to get ready and be out the door in an hour. That is not easy to do with three kids and I rather not be rushing into the church late or in a frazzle. We have been taking it easy today and I was able to watch the Saints-Lions game. I'll grill some salmon for dinner tonight and the we will play some board games as a family.
Kev - Nice photos of the tinplate and the family. I am starting to appreciate prewar for some reason which may not be good for the wallet.
SJ - The Lions were victims of a couple of bad calls, but they hurt themselves with penalties and turnovers as well.
Jack - I'll continue to pray for you and your friend.
Just got finished watching the Saints/Lions game. Earlier today I stopped off at our LHS to drop of my AF 293 Loco for some service. One of the sintered trucks came apart and I was having trouble getting it back together. Besides, he's knew in the area and could probably use the business.
SJ - The Lions played a pretty good game. The Saints is one of the top three I pick to win it all.
Kev - Nice pics, someday I'll have some to share as well.
Night all,
Great pics, Kev - can see you guys had a BLAST!
Chief - you gotta go, man! You said last Fall you were waiting for April for York! But - I understand, that box/layout is a big project!
Got caught up on my TRAINS magazines I had stacked up. High Speed Rail and Amtrak have really taken a beating in the long run (sigh).
Just a quiet day at home - figuring out a new configuration for the home LAN. I'm going to move the cable, modem and router to the center of the house and run cable to either end for the video and game systems. We have everything, I think - just need to drill and pull, etc. I think our modem, router and hub will all do gigabit connections, but our wired machines are all at the 100 mbps level? If so, I'll just use the cable we already have. I picked up a cutter/crimper, but after thinking about things, I doubt I will cut any cables.
Nice chat tonight with RT, SJ, Kevin and Charlie (arrival order). TARDIS is ready and we have Klondike bars, chips, or maybe even some Banilla? Go time!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening All....
Kev - Those pictures are really great! Well worth more than 3,000 words.
Mike C. - You may want to send John Fullerton an email, he has taken the Amtrak around the continent.
Personally I have made two trips, one from LA to New Orleans, and one from Orlando to LA. My experience was that it was money well spent. We had a "roomette" both times, and the accommodations were fine. The staff were excellent and the scenery amazing. One of the highlights was meals, was usually seated at a table with other passengers, and the conversations were always stimulating and enjoyable. I heartily recommend it. It was great arriving at the destination fully relaxed and rested.
Went to a train show in Anahiem today. By most standards probably not the best but for here it was very good! ActuallyI found it more interesting than the Cal-Stewart show and less expensive. Ended up buying a building, (for you York types, the dealer was the same person that is usually in the Brown Hall from Calif.) Going to make the building into a Pool Hall, also got some smoke fluid, and a couple of figurines.
Best wishes to all, and prayers for Jack and Frank. Till later
Don

Kev: Looks like you're getting some quality time with the granddaughter. Make sure she gets hooked good and solid on trains.
Time for me to call it a night. I'm watching an old movie tonight. "That Darn Cat". I gotta tell you, my sides hurt. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Everybody take care. I'll see y'all tomorrow.
Precious pictures Kevin. Kids grow so fast.
Train meet in the morning, some volunteer time with the Glancy modular layout.
Night all, The daughter and granddaughter came over today so I could do an oil change on her car. (Oh that I paid for and still own.) If a picture is worth a thousand words I will try to give you my day in just a little over 3,000 words. Have a great night. Kev.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps near 50. Several good peices of news to report. Finished up work yesterday with NO case reports left in my IN file (a rare circumstance at best and never the first of the month as I am usually buried in paperwork). Went to YMCA to do my usual walk/run and towards the end of the workout one of the four high school kids playing basketball on the floor below looked up and said, "Hi, Mike. I play soccer." Needless to say, I could not see who it was from my vantage point, but that brought a smile to my face for the recognition. Found out open gym starts next Wednesday. Woo-hoo! Last bit of good news for Friday came from in the form of a "dopey grin" email from my Norwegian soccer friend who had all sorts of good news for me about her life. Saturday was most excellent as I went to the WGH show in Indy. Got to bend the ear of some Lionel and MTH people. Scored some good bargains at the show and picked all sorts of information as well. Went to Train Express and got a Halloween set and a Polar Express car. So far it has been a good start to 2012. I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East" and "Points West". Not too sure if I should ask here or start a separate thread, but wife and I are considering an Amtrak trip out west. Does anybody have any experiences they would like to share, good, bad, or indifferent? RI52, thanks for the update on your friend. Thoughts and prayers going out to all concerned. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Happy Saturday...
Pulsar is working well, all paperwork done and now legal for me to drive.
Started the day going to a credit union to make a shared deposit and withdrawal/transfer to my FLA CU. Since my license shows a PO Box and 1 credit union shows a street address I couldn't complete the transaction...I can thank the Federal Imperial Government for new rules for "privacy", which is crap since I had mail from credit unions with the addresses with me. Not sure what to do next...
Dropped off the old plates and documentation to the old owner and put 50 miles on today. T-Tops were off for the majority of the day temps were in the high 60's.
Helped one of my neighbors de-Christmas-ize her house, had a fire call (I was inside command) and did food shopping. Had enough time to put 26 miles on the Harley toward sunset.
Jack - You did what you could....which was probabaly saved his life. for Frank and you.
A BIG THANK YOU to RT...your package came today and believe me brightened up my day completely. I wasn't pleased about the credit union deal and your gift really made me smile. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! You're a great guy Bill....and I appreciate it! I'll post some pics tomorrow!
Princess and her BF made dinner tonight and she's cleaning her room now...prepping for her sojourn to FLA USA.
I'll check back later...watching the Devils and Penguins at Petes burg tonight....
