Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and sunny 42 degrees. Going up to 56 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do and then I will read for a few hours. Maybe watch a football game on TV.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'll have a great Sunday.

Konbanwa,

The wife let me sleep in a little this morning.  Tomorrow, I start my first class towards my MBA and I was up late last night doing some pre-reading.  For the next 18 months I will probably average about five hours a sleep a night.  We went to church this morning and then had lunch at a new burrito restaurant that just opened on base.  It was nothing special and I doubt we will go back any time soon.  The two older kids and I then raked leaves and rigged up some outdoor lights.  I have a few more strands I would like to rig up tomorrow.  The wife made clam chowder for dinner tonight which was perfect for the cooler weather we are having.  It's time for me to hit the books.

RT - I'm glad you are feeling better.  You have a lot of projects planned; don't overdo it.

Stourbridge - Welcome

Sayonara,

Joe

Kevin, I was going to post about the Plymouth switcher, but seems everything is OK now.  I have three or four sets, can't remember how many.  I also picked up some of the box car sets that came with scale couplers.  I think I may even have a set of Skelton log cars that will go with them too.  Fun sets to be sure.

  Dennis,

If you can see if you can get me the part number of the Skelton log cars that will go with them. That would be a great match for my logging site.

This set has the KayDee style scale couplers and I have ordered the 0 gauge ones from Train Dr. The set looks to be from 2005 from what I can tell.

Good morning,

Just a hi to everyone from north central Illinois.

Dreary, damp and 48 degrees now, but temps are going to drop all day and the wind is going to pick up.

Wife and the cat are still sleeping.    Sleep   I was watching Hell On Wheels on AMC but too many commercials. I like the old trains on that show.

No big plans and no parts to work with today so should be a lazy day here.

I may go and get some parts for Roy’s master plan for my shed HVAC for something to do.

DougM,

How was the trip to Lewis U?

RT. I forgot but I need to do our cards today too. So now I have something else to do. Smile, Wink & Grin

Thanks to all of you who helped me with answers and suggestions on the Plymouth switcher issues I had yesterday.  Yes

Later,

Kev.

Morning gang.  Been up since 5:30 practicing wave so RT will not be ashame of me. Bow

Prayers for Rich. Angel  Get better fast.

Kev, I use to watch AMC all the time.  Then they went to commercials.  Still watched until they got too many commercials.  Now watch TCM and some other channels with less commercials.  DVR some shows and fast forward through commercials.  Just got to watch Blue Bloods DVR'd [also on Demand but faster from DVR].  Half the show was commercials.

Very warm today for a Christmas Parade.

Have a great week.  God bless all.

TV forcast is 64 today and its sunney,61 tomorow. Cold in the morning and evening makes that 64 colder than in the spring or fall.

High of 64! It's already three degrees warmer than that here. We're looking at a high of 72. Down side is it's raining and will probably do so all day.

Good morning all,

Dennis, glad you got the message about TTOS cancellation.  I knew you had a long drive.  I am dissapointed myself today with no meet.  We went to Mass last night so I could go to the meet today.  Now I"m all dressed up with no place to go.

Chief, have a nice day in the Christmas parade.

Went out yesterday looking for a new shower curtain.  Should have known better than shopping on Saturday during the Christmas season. Pretty crowded everywhere!  We gave up on that and decided to have lunch out instead.  Tried a new place in our shopping center.  One of those trendy, yuppy places which boils down to higher prices.  Had a roast beef sandwich on rye but iced tea was one of those fruity flavors which they had mislabled. Yuk!  Should have gone to N-and-out Burger which was my first thought.  Better food at half the price.

Need to put more feeders on my two loops of track.  Too many voltage drops when I run conventional trains.  When running with DCS I don't notice because I have higher voltage going into the track.  Lately, I have just been turning off the train sounds and listening to Christmas music instead.  Nothing like watching old 97 and listening to Bing Crosby at the same time.

later,

Ray

Morning/afternoon all!

It finally started raining for real last night and when I went out to look at the rain gauge a little while ago we have received nearly 4 inches. Weather pundits say we need about 18 - 20 inches to replenish the water tables and refill the lakes. Previous rains have all been sucked into the ground and no runoff so no help for the lakes. Maybe this one will help.

Only 40's today - Jeffrey - sending it your way. Good thing we got that new furnace.

Cowboys today ve Cardinals. Cards tend to mess with the C'Boys and this game is in AZ.

Will try to do some further attic cleaning today - sort through the old Christmas decorations.

BTW - welcome back Brutus!

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Aloha all. Still sick. Visited Lewis U with the teen. He kind of liked it for all the 'wrong' reasons (they have club hockey, cute girls, brickface buildings). Took a campus tour in hailstorm. The youngest had his final Christmas 'show' last night. Just working on his videos to share with the family that couldn't make it - welcome back, Brutus. Hope this what-ever-it-is (cold, flu) goes away soonest as Kelly has it too.

DougM,

Sure your not just sick from thinking about what it will cost to send the child to one of them schools? Laugh

 Anyway you get better soon.

Brutus will be sick next when he adds up the bill from his trip to Florida. Ick!

Got all of the X-mass family letters and cards ready to ship but ran out of stamps so I will have to go to town and get a new roll tomorrow.  A lot of cards to lick.....   Stick out tongue Glad don't have to lick stamp anymore.

Enjoy,

Longest parade for Roseyville.  Took over an hour.  We were in front so we slipped around the back way and got to see most of it pass the house.  Was so warm we were in shirt sleeves.  Last year, the Yanks sent cold temps and winds.  This year, Pat blocked the bad stuff for us.

Got to go set a post in the fence near the house where the two deer ran through and broke it off.

Taking a break from attic cleaning. Got most of the stuff to sort and throw away down. Old Christmas lights mixed with new so have to sort that too. Have a big pile to set out for trash tomorrow - but since it is still raining (hooray) will have to get up early and set out then since so much in cardboard boxes.

Watching C'Boys struggle with Cardinals as expected.

Have a nice fire going for a cold and wet evening.

Chief - nothing nicer than a shirt sleeve day in the fall for a parade.

EDIT - C'Boys lose - serious lack of discipline - critical stupid penalties.

Good evening

51 today, some lite showers.

Pat used the Tardis to move cows so Brutus made me clean out the cow pies since I was the last to use it. I was gonna dump them in Brutus' bushes but ran out of fuel before I got there. #2 son came by today and changed the oil in granny's car. Oil change places are OK but they tend to over tighten the plug and filter. Don't like that and it's not necessary. Banilla is ready and the  Tardis is clean...S.J.

Wow - Tardis never looked cleaner!  Good job guys!

WOW WOW - finally got caught up on the coffee pot since I left, man you guys chatted up a storm!

Welcome Stourbridge Lion!

Hope all the HVAC/Concrete/cell phone problems have been fixed or solved!  We have a microcell from AT&T, but it only works with a very limited number of phones, which have to be registered on the account FYI.  ALSO - if you leave a smartphone running with the data mode on, it will suck down the battery since the phone sees it as a router and continously connects.  There should be an elegant solution for this, but none I have found.  So, when I get home at night, I turn off the data mode on my phone.  I can still get phone calls and regular text messages.  As for running the AC/Heater, you would want to make sure that you would not cool the house down and then have the system switch to heating it up.  A friend does this stuff for a living and he told me that they do have controllers that will do this, but this is a problem that must be avoided.  I think he said they put in a solenoid on a temperature switch to keep the actual heater or cooler elements from running in a certain range of temperature, but it does allow the fan to run.  So the controller thinks it is running the AC or the Heat for a certain range or temps, while in fact only the fan is running.  That has me confused and I wrote it - but that's what he told me, if memory serves.

Prayers for good health and healing!

TARDIS is ready, so let's get an early start, I have to go back to work tomorrow boys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Howdy All.

It was a wild friday and saturday at the museum for the Christmas on the Prado festivities, at least that is what it used to be called prior to the PC nonsense. Checked in a few times and they had guests stacked up like cord wood inside and outside waiting to get in. So glad I opted out. Whistling

We went to the Great Train Expo in Del Mar today, what a waste of $23, great if you were a two rail operator but very little 3rail which was overpriced. Did make a stop on the way home at the Dollar Store. The better half is hosting her Bunco group tomorrow nite so the resident clown(me) decided to pick-up two sets of those antlers and red noses to to put on our vehicles. Of course before her guests arrive I'll back the cars into the driveway so they will be greeted by our "reindeer". It's fun to have a slightly warped sense of humour.

Finished the baking for tomorrow, sugar cookies and a carrot cake. The only thing left is the main course and some appetizers. Bang Head

I'm pooped, time to kick-off the shoes and play on the confuser. Think I'll listen to some Statler Bros Christmas cd's while I surf. Thumbs Up

Good morning everyone.  Welcome back Brutus.  Rich, Doug, hope you are both on the mend.  Was a nice weekend as I was on call and didn't have to go in at all.  Have a case this morning though, so I will head that way once this post is done.  Church was great yesterday as we had a guy named David Nasser.  He and his family escaped the Iranian revolution in'79 and came here.  What a speaker!  If you get the chance, he has a great story to tell.

Is it me, or do any of you notice that the best deals on the trains that you desire most seem to come right after you pledge with SWMBO that you will not make another purchase?  We are waiting until we get home with both kids from China before making any such purchases, and I have seen a number of great deals come and go on the train front....what's with that?

Well, have a blessed week ahead everyone.

Mornin' boys.  Foggy and 37 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Double-dipped on Greenberg's yesterday.  Picked up a Lionel 16681 aquarium car (NIB) for oldest boy's stepson (he likes sharks), and a 29647 gingerbread mint car for wifey (she likes gingerbread men).  Charging the Christmas present so I won't be disappointed on the 25th.

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Tree is up, and ornaments and lights are on it as well.  Went to junior/senior high Christmas choral show Sunday.  Good sized crowd.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Sounds like both Rich and DougM are feeling under the weather......hope you guys both are feeling better today.  A busy time of year to catch something, bad timing, but I suppose it is better to get this crud out of the way now instead of getting an unpleasant present at Christmas. One Christmas we flew out to Chicago for the holidays and I spent Christmas Day in bed with a horrible flu.  DougM.......glad your son has his prioritized punchlist in place for a college selection.  Whistling

JoeyD.........I am glad that the family is settling in nicely.  Thumbs Up  You and yours have been getting out and about right out of the box, getting the lay of the land.  How are your newly required vehicles working out?

Dennis.......you have so much train stuff, how tough can it be to sneak a few pieces in here and there?  Watch the wife closely for the tricks of the contraband trade.  Pretty sure my wife leaves it in the trunk of her car and waits until I go out to sneak it into the house.  Laugh

Many guys on the POT have been having teeth issues.  The younger guys probably don't understand that prior to 1960 Flouride and semi annual trips to the dentist for cleanings and checkups were unheard of.  Today, soft tooth enamel and cavities?  No problem.  Treatments for that.  Dental insurance sure doesn't cover much these days.

Wanted to have the first fire of the season Saturday night but wife thought it was too warm.  What good is a fireplace if you at least don't use it for ambience?  Besides, the grandchildren need to be taught the dangers, when we are not too busy to monitor things.  Another teaching opportunity lost, and when she wants a fire at Christmas I will be assigned the police duties. Bang Head

ROY.........the Patriots did there best to give away what was at one point a blowout of the Colts, gave up 21 points down the stretch, just squeked it out by 7.  That Cowboys loss has to hurt.  Was glad to read you are getting some rain.  Was thinking of you when I paid my water bill last week.  Mine can easily top $100 per month if I am watering the lawn.  Or the son moves back in (again).  Bang Head  My wife got a gander of the last electric bill and observed:   "Jack, how can the electric bill be going UP with the A/C season well behind us?  You leave too many lights on."  "Gee, honey, the bill has gone up 30% over the same month prior year.  I think the problem isn't me or the meter.  You should start looking for the problem in our son's bedroom.  He wasn't living here this time last year."  Bang Head

SJ.........what's with the LIONS?  Depressing.

LAZ...........you got me to thinking with all of the deer no-shows.  What is the "best if used by" date on your ammo? Whistling

Roy and Brutus..........thanks for the heads up on the cell phone signal boosters.

RT...........a friend of mine told me last night with a smile on his face that he has fallen way behind on Fall cleanup.  He hired his nephew to tackle it this week for very short money.  Thumbs Up  The economy here is so bad that I am getting cards in my mailbox every day for power washing and landscaping cleanup.

Fife and Brent.........I don't see your mug shots on the news, so I assume you both behaved yourselves when you hooked up. Smile, Wink & Grin

8N.......if my wife came home and found a layout on the dining room table yuz guyz would be reading my obituary in the news.  SWEET!!!!

Gotta run.  Later gang.

Good morning!!,

Cloudy and chilly today. Done with the Christmas cards and will be off to the post office for stamps soon

Laz, I did a little squirrel hunting yesterday from the front porch as I had promised the neighbor I would get him one for coyote bait. I got nice fat red on the first shot. Problem is he limped up the tree and that is where he croaked. So the neighbor came over with his big ladder and we got him down and he went off to place him in the woods as bait. I will see how it went for him today.

Yes the Bears stink!

Rocklsland Jack, We lit a fire last night, forth this year. You are so correct about grandchildren needing to be taught the dangers, when we are not too busy to monitor things. Two years ago my granddaughter touched the glass doors on our fireplace. There was not much you could do after the fact but she won’t do that again. And on the son moves back in I have found you need to keep the kids just mad enough at you that they don’t want to come back home.   Laugh   It can be a fine line to walk.  Hmm

Roy, I sent you e-mail on the HVAC project with a question.

Guess I will head to town then get some parts for the HVAC project.

 later,

 Kev.
