Hi GUYZ,
35 here and cloudy. Watch Gold Rush on DISC. They finally got GOLD!!! Met those GUYZ at NRA Convention out in Pittsburgh in the spring, nice guyz. But for awhile there the show was getting like Ice Road Truckers where they tell you what could happen but never does.
Put up tree last nite, MINNIE DOG was impressed but seemed puzzled. Why bring a tree inside and put balls on it?
Today gotta do some runnin round.
CHIEF, my MINNIE DOG will round up those deer. Wish I could take her for me.
Stay frosty,

A Christmas party with granny's family tonight but I will be missing our club party. Too far for me to want to try and get back in time....S.J.

Mush Mush Mush!!!!!!!!!
Cooler and had rain last night. Pretty day anyway. No Snohio here. Remember we had a white Christmas last year. First time in over 50 years. None forecasted this time.
Fifey,
Two parties tonight. First one is Hunters Haven at their house. Then SIL.
SIL is suppose to be cleaning out the box today. Means it will be ready to move here.
Going to Miss Edna's for the first time in months [have been and visited her at her house]. Taking my stuffed sausage for Christmas for the gang.

Snow cannon got us with 1.5" but it is already melting. It is now aimed to the east.
Wow what a pot full,
I finally got through it.
I had a bunch of stuff to do when I got home, unloading the antique 1920s Monitor grain drill I got for the wife so she can make it into a giant flowerpot. We will add this implement with the others that make up my implement fence along the northeast property line. I will add some pictures.
The wifey never came home yesterday because she spent the night and is shopping with the daughter today in Joliet. She did leave me plenty to do here!
There must have been quiet the fight between the wife and the cat while I was gone and it looks like the cat had the upper hand. The Christmas tree was trashed. All of the ornaments were on the table and half of the lights don’t work on the tree anymore. Just spent the last 1.5 hours mending it up.
DennisD, shooting golf balls at 500 yards ??? That I would like to watch.
Chief, yep coyotes are a pain when you are trying to hunt. Keep at it.
LAZ, I saw more deer in the driveway when I got home than I saw all week in Wisconsin
Fiefdog, glad my teen driving days are over and they survived it.
Have a good day,
Kev.

Great time running trains last night at Greenfield Village. I think SJ had a good time too! Also, SJ got a suprise gift from his friend Andy. A modified "Jim's Train Shop" made just to suit him.

[/quote]Kevin, yeah, it is a lot of fun! Interesting is that with a 300WM, the end result is a small mark on the impact site, and an outward dimple on the back....and the ball jumps all over the place. It isan off take of the great egg shoot where we would suspend an egg from the inside of a box that the inside is painted black. Then, the box is placed at a distance only known to the range master. Then, each man puts up a dollar. You take one shot, if you hit the egg, the money is yours. Then the next guy gets one shot, and so on. You can't see the impact as the box is blackened. If no one gets the egg on the first round, everyone ponies up another dollar and the pot grows until someone gets it. The shots don't usually grow too much as I shoot with some highly competitive shooters. I have gotten lucky and nailed it on the first shot, but that was more luck than skill and it was only a little over 300 yards.
Doug, thanks for the tip, I will go check the, out. Are those the seated passengers that come in a pack of 25? I do have a pack of them but could use some more. The worst case, I can get some of the plastic people and have a little painting party.
Well gotta run for the arrival of some of the peeps.

Hi guys......
What is all of this uproar with Tim Tebow all about? He and the Broncos will get their come-uppance this weekend at the hands of the Patriots because HE upstairs is a New England fan.
I think for a moment, just a brief moment, that I am winning the battle with the wife's "honey do" holiday list because she is starting to re-examine the other "honey-do" non-holiday list.
Got my electric bill today, third consecutive month it has been up 30+% (measured in kilowatt hours) over the same month in 2010. Hmmmmmm, son moved back in September 1. Do you guys see a connection? Wifey defends her "baby," says the increase must be due to something else. Chalk that up to women's logic.
Welcome home Kev. You get to sleep in your own bed and also tackle the honey-do list your wife got to add to while the two of you were travelling. Sorry to hear about the cat's attack on your Christmas tree. My dog likens the indoor "real" tree to the outdoor ones and feels the urge to mark his territory. Mitch...........SJ is spoiled. Nice piece!!!! Dennis......you need to help out the boys with coyote issues, starting with the Chief. Jeffrey......showed my wife your photo of the bus; she loved it, had a crush on what's his name way bwck then. V8Dennis.......happy rails to you!! Dennis........if you slip some Exlax in the dessert the family woon't return next time. Fife......just make sure the car that is totalled while you are having a heart attack teaching FifePup ED is the one you are thinking of getting rid of anyway. Chief......methinks you are way too optimistic about the "move date." What my son and daughter commit to and what they deliver are two entirely different things, especially the time frames. DougM......that is truly depressing about your friend and his family. Prayers they climb out of this trauma. Rich......so what you are saying is that your daughter gets her talent, good looks, brains, and personality from someone else? I missed what happened to the Neon!?! RaySP......it sounds to me like you have your priorities backwards or otherwise you would be playing with trains. . submmBOB......thanks for the snow pictures, a reminder of things to come here soon. JimSP........glad to hear the addition is coming along nicely. Brent.....our granddaughters were fine with Santa until the second time around, then they saw him as a creepy, scary fellow. Expect tears from Christina next year. The following year she will realize Santa is the bearer of a lot of good things and she will go back to liking him. Hope she is feeling better.
Gotta run and look busy. The wifey should be home shortly.
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

SIL knows that if not done, it will be moved as is and Fred and I will clean it out. That means, anything left not wanted by me goes to the dump. It is mainly full of her Granddaughter's clothes and toys. Since they have not lived there for over 4 months, that means Granddaughter has too much "stuff". She hasn't missed any of it.

Good evening all,
It is cloudy in SE Indiana. Work has been extremely busy. Good checkups on teeth and eyes. Went to see latest Sherlock Holmes flick last night. Purists will scream but it did have a "steam punk" feel to it. Worked on setting up standard gauge floor layout for kids at Christmas. Some work done. More to do. Going to a train show in Indy tomorrow. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Windy and cold here on the hill this evening. Supposed to have more of this thru Monday. No new snow yet, but they say we could get up to another foot.
It is much quieter today w/o the rest of the staff. Fortunately everyone made it down w/o any more sliding off the road.
Not too much new on the train front. Still need to look at the pilot on the 2026 and shoot the 258 w/ black paint (not @ 500 yds though...). Decided I'm going to send what N stuff I have to my brother. Just have too many projects . He already has some N gauge stuff and I think w/ his computer and electronic background would really get into DCC.
Have to go start working on a baffle to prevent standing waves in the some of the data. That was our task from the engineers.

Howdy guys - boy SJ, that is a really cool building for your layout, big congrats! Well, I was sick as a dog for about 4 days and now Charlene has it. Her doctor called in a z-pack for her today, to help her overcome it. He figures it's just some virus she got, probably something the kids brought home from school. I'm being Mr. Mom for a few days, lol.
Mike, please pick me up with the TARDIS tonight, I'm ready to get back in the groove
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
A great looking train shop gift from your friend Andy for SJ. How cool is that?? And be able to run trains to. Wish we had something close to us like that. You guys are blessed.
Kev
Good Evening 32 and snow showers. None on the ground yet.
Thanx guys for noticing, I will find a special place on the layout for it. Home from the family party but too late to make it to the club party. Sorry I missed it, was looking forward to it. Banilla is ready..S.J.
Good evening all, Had a nice day at the local TCA Christmas party. Lots of food and raffle prizes. I did not win anything (as usual) but I don't buy half of the tickets either. Grand prize today was a prewar Disney inspired Lionel handcar with Mickey and Donald I think. The thing I wanted was a Burlington Zepher Railking set but missed that one too. I did pick up a Marx Girard whistling station in excellent condition to go on my tree layout. I saw one of those when I was about 10 years old. finally got one at 75! I added another car to my General set consist today. I added a post war Lionel O27 cattle car in yellow color. Kind of goes with the yellow passenger cars.
I was shocked when I saw how much wind damage there had been in Arcadia when I went to the meet. They were using the parking lot at the city park to pile up cut up trees until they figure out what to do with it. It took up half the parking lot which is about two blocks long. I suspect some of it may have come from the Los Angeles County Arboritum which is nearby. I heard they lost a lot of trees. That's where they made some of the old Tarzan movies and was the former estate of Lucky Baldwin. They also did some filming there for Fantasy Island, the TV series. My mother said she saw Lorne Green of Bonanza fame there once too.
V8 Dennis, I would suggest your sister ship anything extra back home after her visit by UPS or get another bag and pay the lousy $25 for luggage on the airline. I think that's robbery but it's better than trying to lug all that stuff around. The airlines are flying with full planes, charge $25 per checked bag and give you nothing to eat but say they are losing money.
later,
Ray

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Good late evening. Was a long night with filming the choir special. Got home a short time ago and was hungry. Ate a piece of my wife's seven layer cake for a late supper. Waiting before heading to bed or it will repeat on me for some time. Jack, you have a point there. I heard another way to make folks not want to return. Have dinner, and when the food is done, let the dog clean the plates and then put them right back in the cabinet. Only have to do that once.... No more visitors!
For those interested, Amazon has a special on the Lionel Hog Warts train set for$165, with free shipping. I don't know how long the special will last. That is a good price for the whole set. Too bad I already have one. While I am not a Harry potter fan, I got mine because my mother was right off the boat from across the pond.
One thing that comes to mind this time of year is to reflect on the things that we endured in the year behind us. A number of folks were either sick, or had loved ones who were. Some folks lost loved ones and friends. I am so greatful for Chuck returning to good health. That was a mighty big bullet you dodged there sir! Also glad Ray was able to come East to visit his sister. It sounds like a number of folks from here have kids in college, or about to head that way. I know it is bittersweet in that you hate to see them gone, but welcome the time to focus on being just a couple. I am very glad to have this community to share our thoughts and concerns as well as our love of trains.
Doug, I checked out RMT as you suggested. They do have several different types of people to populate a layout, but it looks like a lot more will soon be added. While on the subject of RMT, they have everything on their catalog as 50% off. Some good deals to be found.
I had better run. Will continue to lift up prayers.
Good night all. Two parties in one night. Full of food.
Found a coyote hot spot. SIL's hubby says they are bad at Pam's Parents' and their house. We left their party at 11 tonight. They were screaming up a storm.
Jack, Oldest SIL reported they cleaned out the box today. We'll see.
Holiday Inn is on TCM.
David - got the info. Thanks!
Konnichiwa,
I was too zonked to post last night. I was up very late finishing a school paper. Yesterday evening we went out to a Yakiniku restaurant for dinner. A Yakiniku restaurant is a place where you order meats and vegetables and cook them at your table. The table is equipped with a grill built in to it. I have been to them in the States before but this place was fantastic. They had a sesame sauce that made all the different cuts of meat taste amazing. Even the 8y/o boy ate last night. There is some debate as to where Yakiniku houses originated: Japan or Korea, but that doesn't matter to me.
We have been lazing around today. It is nice to know I am not going to work for the next two weeks. I may hang some shelves in the boys' rooms today that will be used to display the trains.
SJ - You have to find a nice spot on the layout for that piece, it is great.
Dennis - You would think the Lionel people would have done some sound checks. I always see plenty of O scale people for sale on eBay; usually in lots of 50. Sometimes they are painted and sometimes they are not. I used to always see plenty of O scale people at Hobby Lobby as well.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 30 degrees and there is a light covering of snow on the ground. High of 38 today.
Today is an easy day. I plan on reading and relaxing. Have a few phone calls to make to the kids. Not much else.
Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Morning all suppose to get up to 60 today thats down about 16 degrees from yesterday we will see. Tuesday and Wednesday is suppose to be back up in low 70's again.
Not much happening here today. Joe sounds like your having a lot of fun over there.
Brutus prayers for your wife hope that z pack helps.
Talk to you all later have a good morning.
Good morning. It's 34° and sunny. The high will be 52° and it will be mostly cloudy.Today I'll take some time to get the layout cleaned up. After working on some projects it's cluttered again.Went to my parents place yesterday to take them their mail and sort through my mail from the past three days. Mostly junk, a couple of credit statements, a review that had to be done and sent back to the OFS Office and a letter from Social Security. Got the OFS review done so my small amount of food stamps will keep coming. Letter from SS says I'm getting a COLA increase of $24. About time. They used every excuse in the book to deny increases for the past two or three years while the cost of living increased. Had an early dinner with my father. Beans and rice with sausage and onions, french bread with garlic butter. I made a big dent in the Tabasco as usual. He gets the big bottles just as I do. That's pretty much it for yesterday.
I've got my tree. It's about thirty-eight scale feet high.
