Sunny and crisp right now in North Central Illinois and going up to 42 degrees today, Not much on the plate today. Moma is back home and I slept like a rock for a change. Think I will wire my 153 block signal and the switchyard flood lights today. Chief, The future son in law went coyote hunting last night at his parents house. They live in the country with fields all around the house. The coyotes are so brave they have come right up to the house, one grabbed one of his mom’s small dogs. When she ran out screaming the coyote dropped the little mutt that she then grabbed but the coyote only backed off about twenty feet and just stayed there. I will have to see how his hunt went later today when I call my daughter. He said they are giving $15.00 if you bring in the coyote's ears. DougM we must have got a lot of rain when I was gone, things are soaked at my place. Have a good Sunday everyone!! Kev.

Ran trains last nite for 3 hrs. NO PILE UPs!!! I really neede that train fix.
KEV, Gee we should start a NO SEE CLUB? Really get depressing. But once we get some snow I get to throw snow balls at these deer from the road while on my walk. Scares the heck out of em when you hit one on the back with the snow.
JEFF in LA. nice tree Love those ornaments.
CHIEF, good luck with them coyotes, get em all.
DOUG M, Go BEARS!!!! Maybe today they'll get off the schnide?
Stay frosty,

dwiemer ......Jack, you have a point there. I heard another way to make folks not want to return. Have dinner, and when the food is done, let the dog clean the plates and then put them right back in the cabinet. Only have to do that once.... No more visitors! .........I had better run. Will continue to lift up prayers. Dennis

Afternoon all. Lazy today. Watched Church on TV. Go to the pond and check things out. Finish some things for Wifey. Cooler but a pretty day. Going close to 70 by middle of the week. No white Christmas here.
Have a great week.

36 and overcast. I was up and out by 8 this morning. Helped set up the modular layout at a TTOS train show today. The layout was smaller than usual as some of it is still at Greenfield Village. Stayed till one, and said my goodbyes for the day. So here I am and the couch is calling me..S.J.

Not sure if mentioned this about a week or so ago but the one PA-1 seemed to have a bad short as I could see it sparking between the truck and the frame well took shell off today actually took it off of both trying to compare to see if I could see anything well no at first anyway started to get wires together to put shell back on and thats when I found it a wire had been pinched two places about 1/8" apart from each other so I put electrical tape over the pinched area and all seems well again glad that was an easy fix.
LAZ and DougM Sure glad I took advantage of the wonderful weather we had today, worked outside in the shed and did not watch THE BEARS…….Bears = OUCH!! Kev

OhayĆ (Ohio for Chuck),
It is extremely sunny but about 45 right now. Today is my first day of leave; I have never taken so much time off (two weeks) at once before. We'll see how it goes and if my wife can handle me being at home so much. The 17-month-old and I are the only ones awake so far. We're watching the Patriots-Broncos game and it looks like the Patriots are starting to pull away with it. I hung some train display shelves in the boys' rooms yesterday and today I need to put some trains on them. I don't have any other big plans for the day.
Brutus - I hope Char is feeling better.
SJ and Charlie - Thanks for posting the video on SPF; it looks like you all had fun.
Laz and Kev - The Bears took it on the chin. The Dolphins won and the Packers lost so all is well for Dolphins fans.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Evening
30 degrees now
I turned the Lions game off, so many yellow flags they can't even play the game anymore. After my earlier post I crashed on the couch for awhile, tried to watch the game, gave up. Banilla will be waiting..S.J.
I turned the game off too soon. Lions won 28 to 27.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s. Went to the train show in Indy. Scored some good Fastrack bargains and a much better restoration of a 511 than the one I had. Went to oldest granddaughter's birthday party. Did Christmas cards for people at work while watching Christmas show this evening. It was a good day. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good evening everyone. Getting ready for bed...all the family is in bed and MIL and her husband were sleeping by the time I got home from the Church Choir special. It really was a great event they put on tonight. Dinner today was a hit. I had made arrangements with Cracker Barrel for all the food. That was an easy thing. Wife was concerned as she didn't want her family to have a problem with us not cooking. In the end, it was a good decision as everyone liked the food and wife was not worked to death in trying to please everyone. Jack, SWMBO did pull a fast one on me. I told her what I was going to do with the dog and the dishes, she had those fancy disposable dishes, so it all went in the trash and the visitors are still here!
We currently have troubles with bobcats and wild dogs. Some farms up the road had a sheep herd get killed off by the dogs. There was a woman who was killed by the dogs too. They have a shoot to kill order if they are seen. I suspect someone will be on them before long. Most folks down here are armed and don't take kindly to such vermin.
Well, have our phones dead. DSL still works, so I will unplug the phones and re-install them in the jacks, but I think it may be a line issue with ATT. Gotta hit the sheets as I am on call and will be going in early too. God Bless,Dennis

Just a drive-by guys, as I'm tired and was falling asleep on the chat tonight! Christmas shopping is almost done, just need to get something for my Dad. Son and daughter are making last minute decisions. Charlene is doing a LOT better today after that z-pack kicked in. ZZzzzzzz - good night guys, be sure to leave the TARDIS in the usual spot!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Reclinerized. Off to bed.
Glad Char is doing better.
Buddy at lake is doing OK but not eating good yet,
Sleep tight.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 34 degrees. Going up to 42 today with a slight chance of some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have some chores to do and some paperwork. Wife is grocery shopping. Maybe a nap later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Morning all. Chilly but warming fast. Pretty day. Errands, take down a big stand to take to Edgecombe Co. and then Mayors' Assoc. Christmas Party. Tomorrow, hunting.
Still cold and snowy here on the mountain. Chuck - check your settings, think you may have a sign reversed on the snow cannon coordinates. Your application of fire is good, though. Once you zero in on the target, fire for effect...
Jeffrey - like the tree and still love the Airstream!
Brutus - glad to hear Char is doing better
Well all of a sudden people came out of the woodwork (or maybe metal shop) interested in the lathe. I have 2 on deck when I return and several in the batting cage. Hopefully it should sell this week.
The MGB-GT is also on the auction block. Not gonna get near what I have into it, but that's the way these things go. Not my first rodeo. Got a query already so maybe that's a good sign. A little sad to see it go, but I just have too many projects. Need to move on.

Good Morning fellow CTT Fans!
It's 29F with 1-3" in the forecast today. Picked up a 2TB External Drive over the weekend and started compressing all the AVI files I generated from my old Video Tapes and putting a copy of them on there. Should have all 996 GB of files copied over to it by Tuesday night. With that project nearly wrapped up I got my Georgetown Loop Trip Report going again yesterday.

Good Morning
It's 41 and cloudy, rain expected later. Today is going to be a rest day, I'm tired and sore from a fall late last week. Not in pain, just sore. Merry Christmas...S.J.
Mornin' all! Sunny and 39 going up to 46 today. Easy day with some loco repair work followed by a short stint into work and then a office Christmas party tonight at a local restuarant. Maybe some catchup shopping for the wife squeezed in.

Good morning. It's 53° and cloudy. The high will be 67° and it will be cloudy. There's a 10% chance of rain this evening increasing to 50% after 2 am.Nothing in particular on the schedule today but I'm sure I'll find something to do. There's a bunch of movies on the DVR that need watching before I delete them. Also need to transfer a bunch of Battlestar Galactica episodes (not as good as the original series) to VHS. Someday I might be able to afford a DVD recorder.
Aloha. Sunny and in the 40s today. Worked video for all church services, then helped set up for Christmas. Went back over to the house we helped move to pick up a few last things and help put together more furniture. What a terrible, terrible Bears game, Laz and Kev. They're done. Nice Tardis ride with Brutus, SJ, Charlie and Kev last eve. What a lovely building SJ. It'll look great on the layout. Kev, I love your new acquisition too. It'll look great by your fence'o implements. It poured all day and night last Wed. Brutus, glad Char is on the mend. Mike C, it looks like there are trains in that new Holmes movie. Happy Christmas. DonU! Dennis, I've also found some nice people deals on Amazon in addition to RMT. Ray, although the fees are outrageous, it beats trying to jam your baggage into the overhead bins.

HI all, Got up at 4:30 and sent wifey off to work, kicked the cat out and went back to bed for a little more sleep. Woke up it was 8:30. Had a virus alert on the computer so had to do some scanning to fix it while I went in the basement to do what I did not do yesterday. Still not done. Got to take the 23yr old Daughter up to Loyola Medical center for some pre operation meeting on Wednesday I hope they talk her out of it. I think surgeries should be the last effort with medical problems. We will see.

Good chat last night with some of the boys, I got in at the tail end of things.
Doug and LAZ, Yeah THE BEARS are done all right!
Brutus your quality of live should improve now that Char is on the mend. Those Z-packs work great.
Chief, good hunting!
Jeffery, I am always amazed by the pictures of your layout and the neat little details. How long have you been working on it?
Roy, It has been so warm here that my shed has not got below 40 degrees yet so I have not got to test the kick in side of the HVAC project yet but it must be working because without it would be 48 degrees in there or so. I did move the switch inside the box from outside.
Bob, what year is the MGB-GT? You never make what you spend on those old cars. I sold my 68 Fairlane and ended up close to cost but nothing for the 3 years of work.
Dennis V8 I get that same thing but not on the CTT site. Very annoying.
Well time to make some lunch and go back to the basement for awhile.
Have a good day everybody
Good morning all,
Dennis in La. love your buildings like the two story house behind the gas station. The simi truck and airstream trailer are nice too.
Doug, I agree about checked baggage. We did check one bag on our last trip. I was trying to encourage V8 Dennis to recommend it to his sister. With having to carry a portable oxygen concentrator on a pull cart and a shoulder bag for necessary things, I can't pull another cart even though they don't count the oxygen equipment as carry on bags. It's just a whole lot easier to check it. I use to take extra suit cases to York some years ago for bringing back purchases but those days are gone forever. Don't go to York now anyway.
We've been having trouble with a heat pump in one of our rooms where the regualar forced air heating does not go. I can hear the compressor start up and then it blows warm air for about one minuite or so and then it shuts down like something tripped. It won't restart for quite a long time. Probably resets itself evenutally. I think these things operate with some kind of gas like freon. Maybe it's out of that. Will try to call the dealer today.
Went out to eat with family and friends last night. Had a nice steak medium rare. Looks like the place has another new manager. They seem to go through them pretty regularly. At least the food quality is holding up good. I just need to teach them how to cook vegetables. I know a lot of places just blanch or steam veges but I like the hard things cooked a little like green beans, brocolli or carrots.
Just got a reminder call for doctor appointment tomorrow. Glad they called because I forgot. I know he will not be happy with my weight gain. He did not order a blood test this time. I had one before my last visit about three months ago. I know my triglycerides have been too high. Thought he might want to see that again but maybe it's too soon. I have not been able to walk much this fall because of back pain but I really need to exercise more.
Have a good Christmas week all,
SPMan
Mornin' All.
Crazy couple of days so yesterday was a kind of "sleepwalk" day. Spent a long day at the museum friday then picked up the munchkin and one of his buddies. Made a stop at Burger King for dinner then on to Del Mar Fairgrounds to check out the "drive thru" Christmas lights on the race track. On the way home I had to really be careful driving, was laughing so hard at the antics of those two. Really chuckled when I asked the "Better Half", aren't you glad you raised girls and not boys. The munchkin spent the nite so up early saturday for cartoons while grampa made bacon waffles for breakfast. They keep you hoppin'.
Making a prayer request for a fellow club member and good friend who has gone thru a very bad year with the loss of two family members, his mother and son. He has had some major heart issues for awhile, requirng he retire from running his company, but also being complicated by diabetes.
Ray, If you or a friend are members of Costco check out the Kirkland Pulled Pork they carry. It's in vacuum package with natural juices after being dryrub cooked. It's pretty darn good but the best part is that if you want it wet you can add as much sauce as you want. All I do is throw some on a bun with a small pile of cole slaw and it's good to go.
Had sent an e-mail to Mike R @ Lionel regarding the K-Line Mikado traction tire issue, he believes that the Lionel Scale Mike T/T will fit the K-line model. Now I need to do an inventory of the tires I need to order.
Glad to hear those ailing are doing better.
Later all !

Afternoon CTT Fans!
Temps are falling and so is the white stuff. Hot Chocolate and a Splice of Hot Apple Pie please!
Still socked in w/ clouds but not much more snow. We only had about 2 more inches last night. Chuck musta got the coordinates corrected.
Fixed the loose pin on the 2026 pilot truck today. A little dab of epoxy will go a long way. Ordered a replacement truck from Brasseur's along w/ a liquid smoke conversion kit for the 2025. Hopefully this fix will get me thru the hoildays. The 2026 is a great smoker.
Kev - the MGB is a 1969 model. Neat vehicle and it would be fun to finish it, but I've just got too many things going on and need to downsize a bit. When will I learn not to put too much money in old cars? I've told myself the Corvair will be the last one, but who knows.
Charlie - great video! Some really nice locomotives there!
Well maybe by Christmas I will be less the lathe and the MG, plus a few thousand invested dollars but at least some cash in the bank.
The temperatures here dipped to a balmy 11 last night. I knew it was coming. So I asked the wife before beddy-bye time if she would be warm enough throughout the night. You see, our bedroom has a vaulted ceiling (heat rises). Between that and the fact that she has her furniture and "stuff" blocking 50% of the heating vents, I anticipated she would be cold during the night. Nope, she said she would be fine. I was stupid and listened to her. At about 3AM I awoke, freezing to death, and noticed she had absconded with all of the blankets, was wrapped up a tight as could be. I had to get up and get another blanket!!!!
I'm dragging a bit today after a hectic "holiday" weekend.......I suppose just like everyone here on the Pot. We had family over Saturday night to celebrate my SIL's birthday. The wife had the place all decked out for Christmas and had put off putting the ornaments on the tree for when the granddaughters arrived. I built a fire, and we all actually managed to survive with the volume turned down on the TV. Imagine conversations without screaming, quite the novel experience!!!
I "accidentally" overheard some whispering between my son and my wife Saturday night, and I think if I heard correctly I just might find something with flanged wheels sitting under the Christmas tree this year. With any luck, they will have seen both the color PostwarLionel printouts and the ebay color printouts I left laying around the home office with the numbers 736 and 2343 (and C6-C7) highlighted in yellow and circled in red, so obvious that even Helen Keller wouldn't miss them.
The wife and I helped plan and execute the annual Christmas party at our dog trainer's training center up in New Hampshire which took place last night. Strong attendance as 45-50 showed up, pot luck, BYO adult beverage. I was suddenly "volunteered" to make the opening remarks (one minute before required, no time to prepare something). Must have done OK because I had dead silence while giving thanks for the year, then had them all laughing at something I said, not sure what. I'm also the designated driver to/fro these events, so I suppose my wife still thinks I drive OK. She also likes the fact that I go out and warm up the car for her and turn on the seat heat. See paragraph #2 above. I'm no dummy when it comes to setting myself up for success!!!! Need to be on Mrs. Claus' "nice" list, even though she is of the false impression I have "enough" trains.
Gave a bottle of Baccardi 151 to one of our bachelor dog trainers as a Christmas gift as I heard that was his Fav adult spirit. Believe it or not, there is a pour spout on the bottle that also acts as a fire suppressant!!!! What do you think about that, Rich?
Although the New England Patriots' secondary has been decimated by injury, the Brady bunch were enough to come from behind and put a lid on Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos yesterday at Mile High Stadium. Think Brady is now 2-6 against the Broncos. LAZ, KEV, and DougM.......the Bears are downright disheartening to this Chicago boy. SJ........the Lions are still hanging around!!!!
Brutus........was glad to hear CHAR is feeling better. Leaving you at the helm is a dangerous proposition.
SJ..........hope you are feeling better after your tumble.
Jeffrey.......you need to take a break from working on your trains and actually run them!!!!!
Chief and all........the wifey and I went to dog training last Wednesday night and on arrival were warned to NOT walk our dogs without company. It seems earlier a pack of coyote were spotted in a wetlands and partially forested area adjacent to the training center. You sure could hear a lot of rustling in the underbrush, sounded about 40-50 yards off. And while the authorities say "no dischrge of firarms," they are not doing anything officially to clean up Dodge either. I suppose they will wait until a catastrophe occurs before taking action.
Chief.........usually when my son has cleaned up what he has promised to clean up, his stuff (garage, basement, etc.), he leaves behind all the junk things he doesn't want.
Dennis and JimmyT........at the wife's urging (you read that right) after a year of reading and stewing and comparing I finally pulled the trigger on a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera (18MM-55MM VR lens) along with the 55-200MM VR lens. While it is considered an "entry level" DSLR, it is user friendly and should handle nearly everything I want and need. With the right memory card (32GB), I should be able to do a credible job with both still photography and video. Sure beats the heck out of dragging around both the old still camera and the ancient video camera when the wife and I go out and about. Fully automatic when I want, or semi-A or fully manual as well. The better news, the camera is for my last birthday in January, that is how long I have been procratinating.
Bob........sorry to hear you have decided to move the MGBGT out of your stable. That one brings back a lot of memories of my youth when some of my friends were driving Austin Healy Sprites, the 3000, the Triumph TRs and Spitfires, and the like. They were all a mechanic's dream but were so much fun.
JoeyD........what a great time of the year to have "off." I enjoy your posts very much.
JohnnyBaker Across The Pond.........have you taken to wearing kilts and no underwear now that you have relocated to Scotland?
T-minus 6 days and counting until Christmas!!!!!
