Jon........Looking forward to drinking adult beverages on the deck with you and you teaching me the words to Ugly Ohio Music I have Back Home in NC down pat.

Won a huge roadway design project, so my job is safe for another 24 hours or Monday, which ever comes first.

Great news.  My SS check is secure. Big Smile

Beautiful day outside.  Extra warm and sunny.  Clouds and rain by evening commute.  Turning cooler.  Still enjoy the day.

Lunch meeting in town.

Hope all are doing OK.

Mornin' all!

Nice and sunny out today. Final touches for the inside decorations to be done today. A bit late this year as work has kept me away from home far too much the past few months.

Banks- Good news about mom, continued progress!

Jeffrey - You baseball diamond looks real nice, are the Yankees winning?

Bob - Those minor errors while driving in snow can be real embarassing.

JoeD - Now that you've been over there for some time, and it sounds like your adapting well, what do you miss most about life back home?

HudsonJohn - How's my set that arrived yesterday? Are you done playing with it, trying it out, testing it, useing, storing it yet?

Have a good day,

Ray

sir james I

Good Morning

32 now staying in the 30s all day. Rain stopped, sun is up. I'm going with Charlie this evening to run trains on the Glancy modular layout at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. The village is decorated with a Christmas theme. But we have no snow and that's fine with me. It can wait till one day in March. TTFN..S.J.

Visited there when I was about 13 or 14 and was amazed. A return trip is on my bucket list. I'll bet it's way better now than it was then.

Doug -- even though I've been in Chicago several times I will try and go around and avoid the frantic freeways, especially on the bike.  Same for St. Louis.  I did a tentative Google map this morning with the final leg going north from New Orleans the whole way on the Great River Road.  Looks like 3300 miles doing a big circle.

Morning all

Closed up again due to frost and yet more snow. Mostly mountain affect stuff right now, but another system is headed in over the weekend.

Well the crowd should be leaving today, so it should be a quiet weekend w/ the weather and all. Maybe I will try shooting the #258 w/ paint. It would be nice to have it running for Christmas. 80 years ago that's probably what it was doing.

8N - yeah it was a good one, not the best I've seen but pretty good. And yes, snow is still way better than mud. It just has to get warm to clean the truck off, not to mention the driver...

Doug M. - we are getting more snow this wekend. And keep in mind this is in southern ArizonaTongue Tied

Jeffey - have fun w/ the 0-6-0. That's a nice looking engine.

For those of you curious about the Corvair van, the engine sheetmetal went to the powdercoating shop on Wednesday before I came up. The powder coat will be nice but what it really needed was the hot tanking and the sandblasting. 50 years of oil leaks. With luck reassembly will commence while I'm off over the holidays.

Good morning. It's a nice balmy 60° here. It's cloudy with a 60% chance of showers this morning then decreasing to 50% all day. The high will be 58°. The low tonight is due to be in the low to mid forties.

TGIF

I'll be working on just one project today. I'll be mounting a Kadee coupler to the front of a 70's era Bachmann 0-6-0. The front part of the locos frame  is metal with a plastic platform and steps. The dummy coupler is also metal and is a cast part of the frame. It'll have to be cut off. The frame isn't wide enough to use a Kadee coupler box without looking bad so I'll probably have to cut the end off a Kadee coupler and glue the shank into a hole I'll have to drill in the end of the frame. I like this loco for it's weight. The frame and boiler are both metal, the cab is plastic. It originally belonged to a close relative. He bought it new. At some point toward the end of his life he refitted it with a can motor and put in all new brass gears. I hope to have it done today.

Aloha. Home for the rest of the year. Spent yesterday after work shopping downtown - looked like Dagwood Bumstead carrying all the packages. Dennisv8, those HP tablets sold out in minutes. Wowsa, Bob, now that's some snow.  Jon, as long as you're going to Savannah, stay in Hilton Head right on the beach. I suppose you'll want to go 'around' Chicago....

Avoiding North Carolina (re: Rolesville) is not possible as our God Son lives in Raleigh ...... what are my options?

OH! NO!, one visit from a Yankee Scandal in 12 months is enough. Crying

One objective for me is Savannah, it was highly recommended by an instructor of mine 6 years ago, if I'm headed that way I will not miss it.  How beautiful is spring in your area in April?

Wonderful place to visit.

Thanks!!!

Meetings over.  Tired.  One lunch meeting tomorrow and sign checks.

Cloudy and about 40 today.

Not much going on today.  The boss bought Christmas lunch for the department today.  Nice break in the middle of the day.

The 6014 Frisco boxcar I got for cheap on e-bay arrived today.  Nothing special.

Sumbob - that is a pretty good stuck job your buddy did on that truck.  At least snow is a whole lot cleaner to go wading around in than mud!

About all for now.

Jon, April is great!  One thing you may want to check is that Savannah has several music festivals that are great to take in, but make your hotel reservations early!  Also, the roundhouse museum is a must see.  We have stayed at a very nice bed and breakfast there as well as a hotel right on the Riverwalk called the Riverstreet Inn.  It is in an old cotton mill.  Lots of charm.  There are also a number of nice sites all around north Georgia.  Not too far from here is Fort Benning and the National Infantry Museum.  We can talk more as you make plans.  I would certainly come here after Ohio as you want to end on a high note!Whistling. Roger B. lives a little bit north of Atlanta and I am sure we could catch up with him for some more great places up that way.  If you do drive through Roseyville, don't worry about getting a ticket, I know someone who knows someone who is best friends with the cousin of a very influential mayor!

Good evening everyone.  Long day, but I got to see our daughter in a play.  She is quite shy, so for her to get up in front a bunch of strangers was tough.  She can do her ballet recitals because the lights keep her from seeing all the people, and she can do the violin recitals because she has to focus on the music.  But today's venture brought her in front of a few hundred strangers.  She did well, and I am glad we were able to make it.  I was also able to pick up my car which I had caused a little over $2000.00 in damage by hitting a large dog that ran in front of me.  Hated I couldn't stop in time.

Jon, I hear you on the long trips, I can barely do them in a car.  Perhaps spread over a number of days.  Regarding heading this way during the spring, yeah, that would be the best time of year.  My wife, who is native Georgian, was telling me how she hates the summers when the temps top 90 by 10am.  Our state does have a lot to do...just not right around here!  Our favorite place is Savannah.

Chuck, great news on the check up.  Keep up the good work and do as you are told!  You gave us too much of a scare.  Glad you are doing well.

Chief, any news on the deer harvest?  We have a large buck hanging around our front yard, but Kim doesn't want me shooting that close to the house (nor does the local sheriff).

Take care and God bless,

Dennis

Hello all

Back on the mountaintop. Was a interesting day yesterday. We got 32" of the Chief's favorite in less than 3 days on the mountain. Came up together w/ my co-worker as it's been a while since he's driven in much snow. Thought it could be a learning experience for him. It was.

Told him to be sure to stay in the center as in spots the bar ditch drops off sharply. That smoothly plowed snow looked inviting I guess and in we went. Came close to getting it out myself, but no luck. Right side was in pretty good.

Pulled it out today w/ the basecamp crew this morning. And our best truck w/ 195K finally gave up the ghost. Probably just a timing chain, but wish it could have been this truck. Not much of a blue oval fan.

We are now up here w/ 3 electrical engineers and my boss chasing 3 different issues. Yes, I'm going insane. Oh, and one of the engineers got stuck today too and had to get pulled out. Keep it on the brown part of the road please...

Continuing saga of the 2026. Tried it out at home and did the same thing. What the...? Then realized it was on the switches only. Hmmmmm. The spring pin on the pilot truck has dropped down and was shorting out. Not sure if that is replacable or if I will need and new truck. May try some epoxy in the short term.

Konbanwa,

I just finished some schoolwork and it's already 0026; I need to get some sleep so I can wake up in about five hours to run.  I am pretty tired right now and don't have much else to say.

Laz - Maybe if I say it that way Chuck will aim the snow cannon this way.  What do you say Chuck?  BTW, that's great news on the doctor report.

AF Ray - Thanks for checking in and letting us know you and John are doing well.  I'm sure his post office is full of AF items.

SJ - One of these days the Tardis crew is going to end world hunger.  Laugh

Good Morning fellow CTT Fans!

It's a sunny cool morning in the Mile High City!  In a much better mood today so the coffee is on me!

Still working on getting my Trip Video library backed up to a secondary disk(s).  If I recall I was doing a Railfan Trip report that I need to get back too.  I think I was doing something on the Georgetown Loop and was about to work on it's video section when I found it's video was not yet on the computer to process.

Aloha. 47: Positively balmy for this time of year though grey. Came into the office for a mandatory mtg. The flying visit to Ohio yesterday to pick up the daughter at college went well - 14 hours all together in the car battling all the rain, but at least it wasn't snow.

Good morning. It's 66° and cloudy with patchy fog. The high will be 76° and it will be cloudy with rain. There's a 50% chance of rain all day.

Good sleeping weather today and I may do just that. I don't have any projects going right now and I don't have any planned.
