Went to my parents place for dinner today. Tacos! I had six. That's somewhat light for me. Dinner guests included my niece and her husband.

Storm last night dumped an inch and a half of rain on us according to the rain gauge. My father drove home from work in the thick of it. He was glad he was driving a big heavy Marquis. The wind was giving lots of the smaller vehicles a hard time and there were a lot of trucks pulled over waiting for the storm to pass. I wouldn't have wanted to be out in that! My van gets pushed around a bit by wind sheers and it doesn't require much imagination to figure what last nights winds would do. Add to that it's flaky wiper motor and you have a couple of very good reasons not to drive in the rain.

Ray, good deal.  I got to have an actual lunch date with my wife today!  I cherish these moments.  Love my kids, but she is still my wife before she became their mother.

Enjoyed the video of train feast.  We rarely get any such train shows here.  Closest thing would be in Atlanta and that is three plus hours away.  We lost power here temporarily.  Had quite a storm come through and still have a tornado watch till 9pm.  Wife and kids are setting up decorations, think I will go do some work on the layout.

God bless,

Dennis

Good morning all,

Dennis, the couple to which I referred is not normally a problem.  Hopefully, it won't happen again.  My wife and I do like them but don't want to overdo it with going out a lot.  I agree that sometimes we just go out on the spur of the moment and don't want to feel like we have to call them everytime.  Like you, I value our time alone sometimes.

Chief, sending the deer to a processor sounds like the way to go.  That's what I would do If I ever had one.  I don't mind cleaning fish but I don't know the first thing about dressing and cutting up a large animal.

Brutus, hope you get through the healing process with chewy.  One reason I don't have pets anymore but admire those who have the patience when they get sick.

Going out to see Union Pacific 844 tomorrow.  Suppose to be a nice day weather wise.  Called a former co worker of mine on the U.P.  He says that he doesn't want to see anything with U.P. written on it.  Guess he is ready for retirement but can't go yet.

City got the water leak fixed yesterday in the street in front of our house.  They put in a new copper water line from the main to my meter.  That ought to last longer than me.  Street department is here this morning to pave over the place where they dug up the street.

Looking forward to Cal Stewart meet on Sunday.

V-8 Dennis, hope to see you there.

Ray

Aloha from a sunny and cold Chicago where Winter has arrived - its about 32 right now. No Cheerios today. I'm back in the office after more than a week away. Lots of paper to read and technology to fix. Played around with a Tech II 800 sound machine last night. Not quite the same sounds as Thomas expects, but I love being able to play with the chuff rate and whistle  / horn.

Good Morning

45 and bone chilly.

It looks like's we're going to Kohl's or Kmart this morning. Granny wants to shop. I don't like shopping, I go, I find, I get out and go home. Lipitor seemed to give these old joints pain, I switched to a different statin and it's working for me...S.J.

morning all. Not a lot going on here just relaxing today as back to work tomorrow.

took wife to auction house up the street last night she got some stuff and she got some junk including cost + commission (10%) plus tax less than $110.00 so not bad we did get a nice microwave table ( or as she calls it a island kitchen) for $10 plus above mentioned tax and commission and she got a nice drop leaf table for like $25 plus above mention and then the rest was basically junk and stuff she likes hey she enjoyed herself so I'm happy as you make them happy it makes whole house happy right Smile

Ordered a new Mixer and its going to be delivered today auction said between 11/21 and 12/03 so wow this is quick. It new in box some business uses ebay to sell there stuff and got a good deal on it. Its a good one been wanting a good one for a long time well finally got it though last year I did but ended up returning it as it couldn't handle double batch of chocolate chip cookies as it was only like 150 watt model well I got the 575 watt model this time top of the line lol.

That won't be till late tonight thou as UPS normally gets here like 7 pm as were the end of his route.

Well think I hear the late dining car come talk to you all later time to make breakfast.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 48 degrees. Going up to 56 today, with more rain.

Today is an easy day. I plan on taking it easy with the exercises, as my legs are aching. I think I will do some reading.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

All you on statins [meds for cholesterol], go to Lipitorforyou.com.  Get copay card for $4 per month for Lipitor.  Been having cramps which I knew was from meds.  Dr. seemed to think it was not.  Pharmacist caught me tonight as we renewed my meds.  Seems they were the problem.  I was drinking two cups of tonic water with Quinine per day.  Helped but did not stop.  She is now recommending Lipitor.  She put me on the $4 per month Lipitor.

Speaking of Statins  ............... even though I had the ability to sign up and use Medicare I did not, I was still covered under my wife's health plan, free to me.  I will make the switch to Medicare and drug plan on Jan. 1 as a prelude to hopeful retirement for Sharyl.  I checked with Costco yesterday about their prescription costs and right now they are cheaper (with no co pay) than what I was paying with insurance coverage!!!!!!!  I just don't get it but I am pleased.  More $$$ for trains Thumbs Up

Good morning. 67° and cloudy. The high is projected to be 76°. There's a 20% chance of rain early changing to 40% before noon and tapering off to 10% after 5 pm.

Yesterday afternoon we were treated to a very nasty line of thunderstorms coming across Texas and crossed into Louisiana about 5:30 pm. I don't know how much rain we got but it sounded like a lot and the thunder, well, that was the first time in a long while that I heard continuous unbroken thunder for over an hour. Lightning was so frequent I could heve seen my way around outside without a flashlight with no problem at all. As the sun isn't up yet I haven't looked outside to see what it's like. Judging from what I was hearing last night it's probably a mess.

Good morning,

60 and a dreary drizzle. Quiet so far at work.

Nice chat with Brutus, RT and SJ on the Tardis last night. I will try to make it tonight but it is another late one.

AF53, your package arrived. Your sister did not even ask what came for me. The 2065 arrived. Nice.

Chief, I have been lucky, no meds, so far. I have seen how sme meds react with others from my wife and others. Good Luck.

Time for the Safety Huddle.

Have a great day.

Good evening everyone.  Long day as I had an early case that had some additional work we needed to do.  Everything went well, just took awhile.

Chief, you may be onto something with Bambi...Walt Disney may have corrupted my kids!  He is all for going with me and if we have some folks who are looking for meat, I will tag a doe.  Doubt I will get a buck bigger than the one I got in Canada down here.

Doug, yeah, the paperwork has gotten a lot more intense.  I suspect it is as a result of some of the bad examples of adopted families that have made the news over the past couple of years.  That, and the corruption in some places that resulted in the Hague Treaty for international adoption.  In the end, I think it is a good thing so that the stories of baby stealing and corruption will be a thing of the past.  We were watching more videos of our son on the Internet tonight.  Wish we could also get some of our daughter, but really look forward to travelling to get them!  Today, I got a book on raising kids with albinism...wife quickly snatched it up, so I will have to read it later.

Ray, not sure if I tick a lot of folks off, but I turn down engagements so I can stay with my family...alone.  I want them to know that they are the most important people in my life.  I don't usually attend the hospital functions, or other festivities unless I can bring my family.  I hope the folks who I have to refuse the offer understand.

LI have to get going, but hope each of you has a blessed night,

Dennis

Just a quick splash and go!!!!!!!!!!

Brutus.......prayers and good thoughts for Char's latest adjustments. Angel  While it must worrisome and/or aggravating every time the numbers are not quite right, her Docs seem to be on top of things and make the right moves with some fine tuning.

Glad to hear Chewey is coming along nicely.  Regarding the protective plastic cone on Chewey's head.....  Been there.  Done that.  My strong recomendation:  the dog (and your family) will just have to live with it for a few more days until the incision is healed adequately, end of discussion.  Otherwise, the dog's incessant compulsive licking of the incision site immediately commences, followed by a leaking incision, raw skin around the incision site, and a possible infection.  At that point you are forced to further deplete your train budget, take the dog back in to the vet, and write him another check to fix what the dog broke post op.  He/she will also add to your burden with some antibiotics and medicated ointments, along with a hot compress routine.  More money.  More work. Bang Head  Don't fall for those sad puppy eyes, whining, or the desperate pleas of the family to remove the cone.  They have it all backwards.  Chewey is recovering, not dying.  The dogs are smarter than we are, and they know exactly how to press our buttons to get what they want.  HEY!!!!!  It sounds just like children!!!! Smile, Wink & Grin.

Later gang.

Good morning all,

Dennis, thank you for the words of wisdom re eating out with my friends.  "Don't worry about it" is good advice.  I don't like to air my personal life like that but you guys have become part of my extended family it seems like.

City workers have come to fix the water leak in the street in front of our house today.  Our water has been turned off for a while until they get the new pipes hooked up.  Got plenty of pool water for toilet flushes if necessary though.  I don't think it will be off for very long.

Thinking about Cal Stewart train show this weekend and also visit by Union Pacific Steam engine #844.  The engine will come to town on Thursday over Beaumont Pass between Indio and Bloomington, California South of San Bernardino.  It will depart on Saturday over Cajon Pass to the North of San Bernardino at 6:30AM.  Don't think I want to get up that early so I will probably see it when it comes in on Thursday about noon.

later,

Ray

Good morning. It's 72° and cloudy. The high is supposed to make it to 80° and there's a 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Nothing on the schedule for today. I'm still paying for all that I did yesterday. Hopefully today will be quiet.

Ah yes, American Motors...  SJ, yes, the DuPage show is great: lots of tables selling everything train-related. Five buildings... I've never thought the strollers were that bad because its more selling, than layouts to look at...

Jeffrey, is that a Pacer? I remember when they were made not too far from here...

That's a 1978 AMC Pacer. I used to have a 1975 Pacer X that my older sister bought new and a 1979 Pacer DL that my father bought new. Both were bought from Hayes Buick-American in Leesville. The company declared bankruptcy in the mid or late 80's after the owner passed away.

45 and the rain is gone.

Doug M and others, Have you ever attended the DuPage show? One of our club members was just there recently and liked it except for the strollers. Said a good reason why York does not allow them. No breakfast yet, granny's cackling on the phone..S.J.

Aloha from a sunny and frosty Crystal Lake where I'm homeschooing the youngest again before Kelly gets back. Last night, we ran trains and painted out 'Andy' on the bottom of Sheriff Woody's boot so he could add his name this morning.  Mike C, that wooden train you got sounds great - any photos? Let us know about the progress of your MR article.  Jeffrey, is that a Pacer? I remember when they were made not too far from here... Kevin, what an incredible breakfast coincidence: I too had Cheerios with raspberries and strawberries - though the latter were frozen. Must be an Illinois thing. Dennis, I am not surprised at how much more complicated adoption paperwork has become since our last time...

Good Morning,

Things are finally getting back to normal. I even had Veteran's Day off Friday and a 3 day weekend. My wife surprised me with a trip to Long island for the weekend. The main stop was a visit to the Railroad Museum of L.I. I had to check out the old Lionel Layout from the Mich. Visitor's Center.

Brutus, wish Char the best and I hope that they get her meds squared away. I guess Chewey will have to be a "Conehead" for a while more. I have to work OT tonight, so I will se if i can make the Tardis.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Hope John is doing okay, he's been AWOL from the TARDIS for a while now!

It was a nice warm day in Saint Louis today, up in the 70s. Now we will slide down in the 60s and 50s with highs in the 30s though. Dog is doing really well today - wonder how many more days she has to wear the cone? My wife had a doctor appointment and her liver numbers are good this time, but kidney numbers are a little off now? They adjusted her meds for a week, to see her next Monday. It's always a balancing act, but they are gradually reducing the meds Thumbs Up

TARDIS is ready, so let's get going!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
