Good Morning,

30's this morning and they are forecasting "a chance of wet snow" for next week. We definitely do not need a repeat of a couple of weeks ago.

Don, good news about you and your father in law.

RT, I hope that the ebay matter gets squared away.

Brutus, Chewey seems to be doing better.

Have a Great Day,

John

RT - that sucks man, hope they get that fixed and you get your stuff asap!

Don - glad you are okay and also your Father-in-Law.

Doug - sent you a link to a neat "steampunk" video I think you will like Thumbs Up

Had a nice meatloaf for dinner and I did give Chewy a little bite when nobody was looking.  She seems to be doing really well now, so I'm sure the doctor will take off the cone on Monday.

TARDIS is ready and we have cookies and icecream (banilla) of course!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all!

Cooler here. high 30's this morning. Should get back to 70 this weekend.

Finished the replacement of the gas starter pipe in the fireplace and the wife is happy we have our first fire of the season. Tried using some anit-seize compound (used on spark plugs & exhaust manifold bolts) on the gas pipe so maybe I will not have to cut it all out next time. We'll see.

Don - glad your minor surgery went alright and the FIL is doing better.

Busy day today with lots of meetings and another busy one tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Not much going on today.  I did manage to score a boxed set of Flyer 660 series aluminum passenger cars Wednesday night and a lot of gray roadbed Thumbs Up before everything fell apart Thursday morning.Thumbs Down  Spent today getting back into my old job.  Still not happy about the whole thing, but things could always be worse.

Oh, if anyone is looking for a good Christmas movie, Elf is a must see.  Will Ferrell did a great job as always, along with the rest of the cast that includes Bob Newhart, Ed Asner, and Peter Billingsley.

Good Evening

32 degrees, stayed in the 30s all day. 23 tonight.

I just finished watching the new Harry Potter DVD that arrived today. A good movie much better than the last one that wasted a lot of time doing nothing. Banilla is ready but we better eat it in a warmer place than this...S.J.

I found some stuff today that's great for cleaning dirty rails. It's called 'Krud Kutter'. It's a stain remover that's a concentrated cleaner and degreaser. Just wipe it on, allow it to stand a couple of minutes then wipe off. The amount of crud that comes up is amazing. It will even take off old dried latex paint with a bit of scrubbing. Now, a warning. It says non-toxic on the label but take it from me, you don't want to use this stuff without proper ventilation. It will really get your head spinning. On the price side, it's $1.99 for a four ounce bottle, a bit less than a three ounce bottle of Goo-Gone at $2.98 (I got it for $2.83 as I got a discount for using my Lowe's card). I tried the Krud Kutter on an exceptionally dirty piece of track and after less than a minute it was cleaner than new with no greasy film. Don't use it on varnished surfaces or leather.

Evening all.

Bought an item from a person and didn't receive it yet it was suppose o be here by today at the latest then I notice all of a sudden it is marked that payment was just received yesterday and I know I paid on the 5th so I did a little checking with a couple of my sales I did and lo and behold if a seller or a buyer goes in and clicks the payment not received button and then goes back and clicks payment received it will change the date to present date. ( just got off the phone with ebay and showed them person on phone couldn't believe it and said he was sending that to there technical department. So this is something you need to watch for. But he stated ebay has record it was paid on the 5th so I'm in the right here.

Not much else going on had a tiresome day at work. But made it thru lol

Hey All....

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Had a minor surgery, set me back a couple of days, but everything is OK.  FIL still in hospital, in rehabilitation hopefully he will be home before Thanksgiving.

Been playing around with the layout, installing/building a couple of bridges, (TRWrx - B52), working on a drive in theater.  (Have a small, very small building to use as the ticket booth, going to paint a guy selling tickets to the theater in the same colors as my Knotts uniform.)  Going to have it so the same movie will play at the drive-in and the HDTV in the room.  Should really be cool.  Also as a result of relocating the drive-in, found some more space, going to put a Dance Hall and a Bar&Grill in.  These two buildings will be on the same access road to the drive-in.

Going back to work at Knotts tomorrow, they've gone a whole week without me!  I'm sure they are anxious to get me back.

Plan on going to Cal-Stewart on Sunday.  Will help my wife get the booth setup, then leave around 10 or so.  Should be there by 11-11:30, hopefully will run into you guys.  (I will be wearing a blue denim long sleeve shirt with a SP patch.  Also, have kinda pot belly, wear glasses, and gray hair.)

Need to get busy, never enough time.

Best Regards

Don

Uninterupted coverage on TV of the riff raff that is occupy LA right now. They have taken over a couple of streets and are inconviencing thousands and causing a giant traffic mess. The service employees union is also in on this. Sylmar where I live is probably the furthest from downtown, 30 miles, and is still  part of Los Angeles City.

Those people make me so sick! And the press being right there giving them exactly what they want - attention. Pull the press out, declare the entire area off limits and starve them out.

Good morning. It's 47 and sunny. The high will be 63 and it will be partly cloudy.

Nothing much going on today. I have to go to Lowe's later to pick up a few things and I have to clear some project debris off the layout. I need to get it done today as tomorrow I have to attend a dinner at my father's work site. He insists on it.

Bright sun but a cold 30 right now.

I'm heading to Kroger, gonna buy a turkey we don't need for thanksgiving, cause it's cheaper meat than hamburger right now. For you working folk, Fridays' 1 day away, but you already know that huh...S.J.

Morning all.  Cloudy cover, but not currently raining.  Have to check for limbs, but was not too bad.  Wife's old high school got trashed by a tornado.  Supposed to have some more rain today.  We found our daughter's orphanage on "google earth".  While it is neat to see where they are, it is still on the other side of the world.  Can't wait to get there!

Did some work on a elevated line on the layout.  Hope to get a good bit more done over the next few days.  Wife and kids are getting the house ready for Christmas and I would like to have the trains running prior to that.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Cooler in Saint Louis today and felt like rain all day, but no rain (yet).  It is getting cold at night now, though.  Char was out tonight, so I made some chicken nuggets and fish filets in the oven and we just all fended for ourselves.  I got a new historic rails catalog the other day and there are some books in it that look pretty interesting....  But I have a ton to read already!  Thanks for the advice on Chewy, and we know you are right.  We did call and ask, and they said that it is to stay on until the doc takes it off himself, so I guess she is just stuck with it until Monday.  Oh well, she has adapted pretty well.  She got her old regular dog food tonight and I think she overdid it, she's been passed out for a couple hours with a full belly!

FIFE - BIG congrats!

Nice chats last night with John, SJ and RT, and tonight with RT and then SJ.

CHIEF - You get better too, man!  Hope the change in meds helps you out.

TARDIS is ready, so let's get moving guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Dreary cloudy day in the 50's today.

DDG - your snowblower comment reminded me of a couple of scenes in the movie 'Soylent Green'.

I translated the 'three times around the tree' layout into Fastrack last night - a reasonable facimile of it anyhow.  It will fit nicely in a 6' by 9' area.  Next step is to make the risers for the elevation changes.  It is going to have a pretty steep downhill section that I'll probably need to use the rectifier voltage reduction trick.

I'll eventually get thetrack plan sketched up on AutoCAD.  It seemed like everything snapped together, but I suspect that it ain't perfect.  The AutoCAD layout should show me how close the track plan is to closing.

All for now.

Jim, My first thought was one of those big truck mounted snowblowers like I drove in the Co. mountains but that mite be a tad messy although it could make for a fairly quick & quiet cleanup. Embarrassed Wink

Kinda noisy here tonight. The wind is NNE at 10 mph with gusts to 20. A piece of old corrugated vinyl panel hits the front slope of the roof during the gusts and makes a thunk, thunk, thunk sound. Not loud but enough I can hear it without it being irritating. At least there's no rain in the forecast tonight.

Tired tonight. It's been a busy day for me, so it's time to hit the sack. See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' All.

Halloween layout is now gone into hibernation and the loco's/cars packed away til next year. Crying

Went to Costco tonite looking for a few items. SWMBO is a big fan of the Harry Potter movies and wanted to pick one up but alas the Blue Ray & DVD set was all gone. Did see a set that caught my eye, 28 DVD set of the original "Twilight Zone Series" with Rod Serling but couldn't quite accept $93. Thumbs Down

Started out looking for some plain old long sleeve t-shirts, need something to kinda protect my arms when working on/under the layouts. With all these drugs I am taking just a slight bump and it looks like the that area has the rot or something, heaven forbid a cut or scratch because I'll end up leaving red drips/smears everywhere.

Thought about going to Cal-Stewart but don't know if I would be up to the drive up-n-back with all the walking in between, maybe one of these years.

Fife, Don't know how your fellow officers can maintain their composure with these occupy idiots. Need to develop a "Stun Gun Net" . Smile, Wink & Grin If I offend anyone, tuff noogies!

Need to pick-up turkey tomorrow to make sure it thaws,in the fridge, in time to do the Maple Brine although I will have to reduce the salt content of the brine. ChefDinner

Gettin a bit tired, later all.

p.s.- Bob, loved the Harry Truman quote. Laugh

Dang, that's good advice, Bob. And another Happy Birthday wish for you. Great photos of 844.  Fife, that's just great news.  That's one lucky youngster. Back from a date night - just a beer with my bride at the joint down the street. Now to pick up the youngest from Adventure Club. Boy, it's cold here.. though should be back in the 50s this weekend.

Jeffrey - really enjoyed the story about the spiderBig Smile

The wolf spider is apparently enjoying it's new digs in the HO Scale mobile home. It's still residing there. I see it out hunting once in a while. First time it crawls on me it'll be a dead spider. Til then it can have all the bugs it can eat.

Hello all

Back on the hill after my days off.  Clear and cold up here.

Got to see the #844 come thru town last week. Got to see her in the yard on Veteran's Day w/ some friends.  Then went down to the depot to see her leave town on Saturday. Ended up chasing her as far as the town of Picacho about an hour north of Tucson.

The first picture was taken just outside my old studio downtown. People used to think the trains were about to come thru the wall when I was on the phone w/ them. This would be why.

On the other side of the studio building.  Notice appropriate mural on the right.

Heading out of town.

At one point I was pacing her on I-10. Windows down, whistle blowing, drive rods flashing, and desert mountains in the background. Very, very special. I'm very grateful I had the chance to see this.

The UP police certainly had their work cut out for them. A bunch of them were following her to Phoenix and keeping lookout for potential problems.

Jeffrey - really enjoyed the story about the spiderBig Smile

Brutus - thoughts and prayers for Char and Chewy

Anj - good news on the job. Hope it works out.

I'm staring at a birthday card a friend gave me yesterday. It has a quote from Harry S. Truman, "Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day". Now that's good advice.
