107 today.  Supposed to get a 'cold' snap tomorrow - only 96!

Loooong day at work today, but got one of the crisis projects beaten into submission for now.  On to the next tomorrow.

The landscaping in front of the palnt is being re-done.  They picked today to lay sodQuestion  Will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Got home thinking about a mixed drink or maybe a beer - until I saw the tomato plants.  Sliced up one right off the vine, covered it with cottege cheese and enjoyed.  Had to beat the cat off though.  Seems like she thought I made that treat for her.

All for now.

Good evening all,

I was in the process of posting yesterday when the entire base lost power for a few hours.  We were busy with errands last night so I never had time to post.  Today was an alright day at work and I did some weed pulling at home this evening.  The Yankees were winning again tonight but the game went to a delay.  It's late now so this post will be brief.

Spanky - Perhaps you could get him the Fire and Rescue set or the latest military set.  I think both of those are pretty neat.

Chief -  I'll pray for your family.

Good night,

Joe

Condolences to the family Chief. Angel

Jim, Forgive me for raggin' on ya bout the salt. Embarrassed But you know the old saying, "Misery loves company". Crying Picked up an "American Heart Assoc. Cookbook" at Barnes & Noble tonite. Appears to have some good low/no salt recipes in it, Dinner, and some that also have no appeal to me.Ick!

B&N  also just happens to be next door to Michaels. They are in the process of putting out there Lemax halloween goodies. Yes Any of you former/current firefighters the Lemax firehouse and truck w/crew is great. Cowboy

Tried to go into the museum for a few hours today but traffic and parking was in such gridlock I eventually said to heck with it and came home. Wasn't worth the stress.

AF53Ray - happy birthday to your daughter - sorry I missed that before.

Chief - condolences on your family's loss. I got a Droid a while back and have tried different mobile browsers on it with no luck, it won't let me type in this box on my phone.  I'm not sure how to fix it either.

RRCharlie - Glad you are doing better! I'm sorry, I didn't know you were out sick, but haven't seen you in a while!?  Keep us posted man!

Firefox seems to be working pretty well, now that I found my favorites links.  Doctor called in some new meds for my wife, so hope that helps, as she has been having some lingering problems with her biopsy site being tender.

TARDIS is ready and banilla will be fine - let's go!  Laz can drive Laugh

Well, my day did not go as planned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Was in Gro when Frankie called cell and said his Mom was dead.  Cathy was working in Wake Forest so I had to go get her.  Seems they think their Mom fell down the stairs yesterday or this AM.  No one could contact her so they got code to open garage door and Frankie called a Deputy to go investigate.  Will know more later.  Crime Scene folks had to do their thing.

Did get by Verizon and now the Town has me one of those touch screen fancy phones with email, texting,  internet and other apps.  Signed in to CTT Forum but would not let me type a reply.  Got to figure that one out.

M14 is back from Springfield Armory.  Have not seen it as its at Hunters Haven and have not had time to retrieve it.  Suppose to have scope mounted [that special mount is a "bugger" to get right].

ChiefEagles I noticed your post count is 11,388. Is that the highest on CTT? Do you also post on other Trains.com sites?

Why do some avoid IE?

Brent,

I stepped up the Angel you and The Q.  Good luck.

John,

When I was in Toy Town buying, I kept trying to decide which addiction to feed.Wink  I figured I'd get more PW Lionel while I had the opportunity.  Trust me,  I've got my eye on an Airaid intake and Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers at the moment.Big Smile  I just got it back from rustproofing a few hours ago and getting another key and fob since I only got one with the car, so I'll have to cool the spending for a bit.

I know what you mean about the 685.  I've got a 2055 that I just couldn't ever sell.

Good Evening,

I just purchased a 685 w/tender for a very reasonable price. You can never have enough of them. My original is still my centerpiece. The memories of growing up with it. It was my best friend when I had the chicken pox in 1958. A great diversion from the itching and calamine lotion.

Laz, The way you are going with the LOKIE, you will upstage Casey Jones. I am off next week. Let me see what it brings.

John F. Too bad you and Laz are at your museums on Tuesday. I have 2 weeks left this summer. I have to see what is going on with my wife and the store.

Doug, Hopefully it will pass. soon.

SJ, The boat deal sounds like a win/win to me. No Lemon Ice Cream yet.

Charlie, Nice Pontoon.

Chief, It seems that being Mayor of Rolesville is like being the Chief of our Volunteer Fire Co. If you are doing a great job and you want to do it, you run unopposed.

Brutus, Watch the BP. Good Luck with it.

Brent, Good Luck and safe trip.

Buckeye, You had a Great Vacation. I noticed you headed North.

Jim Red GT, Trains and Stang looking good.

DJ, Sounds as if you broought part of Jersey Summer Time Home.

AF53, I forgot that it was Tracy's Birthday when I saw you on the way to the Emergency Room. It was very entertaining waiting there. I was only there a little over an hour, but the show was priceless.

Prayers and Thoughts for all in Need.

Haven't posted since I finished my radiation treatments in early June. Time does fly when you are having fun!!!!! I just can't remember all the fun I've had. CRS or Anheusers?? Finished two twelve week Elementary Statistics classes last week. One 12 week class continues that goes through the end of August. Then three classes from late August to early December.

Have actually been doing some things with trains. Put the Vision Line Hudson on the lowest level in the dining room. I'm having some issues with it but I think it is me rather than the locomotive. It is a beautiful locomotive.

Been spending time in the train room after a year plus absence. Taking out some old carpet that has been in there sice the early '70's. You can imagine the dust!! Had my pre-war electric on level five, counting from the bottom, and my NYC Mohawk running on level four. The swing bridge still works and so does the bascule bridge on level three. Traisn won't be running on levels one through three any time soon as there is a lot of C R A P to find a place for.

Have gotten involved with the ATCS Monitor program and find it fascinating to watch the dispatcher displays- Lakeland, FL through Florence, NC and Chicago Metra from Lasalle St station out to Englewood in Chicago. Fun to try and figure out which trains are which from the location and the time.

Hotter than H E double Hockey Sticks in Sunny Florida but we may be getting a hurricane by the end of the week!!!! Will keep you posted.

Hi GUYZ,

Well went up to the PIONEER TUNNEL and ran The LOKIE today.  Got it fired up and it ran great with the so so humidity.  We got a new batch o coal and it seems to burn better in the LOKIE.  I think this coal is a better grade with less slate and more color in it.  It has the nice blue color for the blue burn in the Anthracite coal.  So I'm thinking lots has to do with the quality of coal.  This coal is wider and rounder then the old coal which was long and narrow.  This doesn't clump up and cause "clinkers" when its burning.  A "clinker" is when the coal starts to die and fusses together because of the stone makeup in the coal or otherwise known as boney coal, too much slate in with the pure Anthracite.  Oh well it held great running at 90psi and held up all day popping off at 115 lbs. so all was good on the LOKIE all day long.  I got to be at the throttle all alone for 3 trips.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Hot day in store I think.

Good Morning

75 and 90 today, storms possible later.

Our grass has grown some from last weeks overnight storms. But not enough to cut yet. Breakfast is unknown at this time. I'm afraid of the kitchen. Yesterday I fried 2 eggs that looked scrambled and 1 bologna for a sandwich. Let the pan cool, put soap and water in it, put it back on the burner to heat the water and then forgot about it. The flippers in the garbage and I'm not sure if the pan will survive................S.J.

Edit: The weather guesser's say this was the hottest Michigan July on record. Official rainfall was good but we got very little of it.

Aloha. Beautifully hot. Nice meeting to encourage our pastor last night. So glad DJ picked up a few items for himself as well as Corey - happy pre-birthday to him! I like August. I get a lot done because everyone else is on vacation Yes. Found another online resource to peruse in-between CTTs.

Hello all,

Quick Coffee this morning

One more trip to Pittsburgh, then wait & see.

Deer issue is better but still not good. Last weeks rain helped very little. Still feeding hay.Making some progress on outdoor projects. Man do I need to get back to trains.

Been using Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird for 10 years +/-. Works well. Our IT people at work put it on all the computers. Tell us to use IE only on sites that require it. Over the years those sites have become few. I added it to my home machine and have had no issues there either. Still using XP both places.

Brent and Suzie - BIG CONGRATS and GOD SPEED!!!!

Mike - glad you are back online and wow, 5 years!!!!  That's a big day!

DJ - welcome back!

Laz - if I was you, my basement would be done already!  You're a maniac!

Okay guys - trying FIREFOX now - it said it imported my stuff, but I can't find my favorites?  Had to search for CTT.  Where did they go - anyone know?

Yeah, IE9 is a pain, I'll try this for a while and see if I like it.

Blah day and weird stuff at work.  My boss stepped down from management, which is good for her but bad for us.  She was one of the very very few that I liked.  She'll still be there, but she'll be in her old job.  With luck, she can get a promotion and we can work together again, as co-workers.

TARDIS Is ready and had some nice chats tonight with Charlie, SJ, and RT.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

#2 Daughter turned 28 today and we did what we have done since she was 1, took her out for an ice cream on he birthday! She loves it, I love it, wifey doesn't, not her birthday so no ice cream!Laugh

Jack - As the Yanks and Sox keep piling up the wins, it's very appairent that the wild card's coming to one of us. So the Tigers, Indians and White Sox can duke it out. Likes like a good one.

Chief - Thanks for the update one Brent and Susie. Good luck guys!

DJ - Welcome back!

JoeD - If it wasn't for Colon and Garcia this year, I don't know where we would be.

Radio gave the temperature as 104 at 7:45pm today.

Brutus - I agree about salt.  It seems to be in just about all prepared foods, both at resturants and from the store.  It is seldom that I add salt in anything I cook.  Figure that the ingredents I use have more than enough.

How about those Tigers?  It is after the all star break and they are still in 1st place.

I realized that I can almost assemble a complete 200 series Alco out of my spares.  With some custom paint, this could be a solution for my Minuteman themed locomotive.

All for now.
