Good Evening Everyone,

I hate to start this off for another prayer request, but a good friend of mine is in the hospital. "Daddy Bill" as a lot of the guys that I grew up with know him is 82 and he has a blood infection. He was doing good but he took a turn for the worse on Friday. In fact he was to come home on Saturday. I saw him today and he is doing better, but he is not out of the woods yet. He is the kind of guy who would help everyone and he is like family to mine.

Dougdagrump, Driving is a great sign. You are on the road to recovery. Congrats! Yes

Fife, Welcome back and I am glad the trip was a success. The Tahoo is a beautiful vehicle and it is on my list of vehicles to replace our Explorer when need be. Right now it has been a great vehicle with only 114,000 mi on it. Thanks for sharing the driving tip. That is something that I automatically do without thinking.

Roy, Congrats on your 25th wedding anniversary. Yes

Work tommorrow. Early Start, 5:30am.

John

Hello everyone!

Been really busy the past week. Iwant to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words concerning Cathy. She's back home this afternoon! She went into the hospital Thur morning after days of not feeling well. She dehydrated herself and her potassium levels were way down and on and on. They hooker her up with the IV to get it all back to normal. They still dont know what caused it but they want her stomach checked out this week.

Work wise, 7 days a week unti Dec probably and 75 hrs per week so forgive me if I don't check in here more often. I still try and read on my brakes. (Can't believe the time DBaker's been having!!)

Train wise. I finally got the cars and Loco to the set # 26 in the 1918 AF catalog! Thanks to HudsonJohn's help, the cars went to his house and the Loco came here.

That's it for now as the pizza has arrived! MMMMM!

Thanks again!

Afternoon all!

Finally back home after several weeks of continuous travel (vacation and work). Wife and I celebrated our 25th (actually June) last week with a nice trip to Victoria and Vancouver BC. Their summer had yet to show so we had typical 65 degree days with some drizzle each day. Nice respite from 100-105. Great hotels with harbor views. Our 14th floor hotel room in Vancouver had an outdoor balcony and we spent some evenings drinking some nice wine out there. We took a BC Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria (0nly do that 3 hr trip once in your life - 1.5 hrs bus and 1.5 hrs ferry) and we took a 12 seater float plane from the Victoria harbor to the Vancouver harbor (ahhh - 40 min total). Both float plane terminals were a short walk from our hotels.

Prayers for AF Ray's wife.

Trying to rest up for tomorrow.

Have a great afternoon all!

Regards, Roy

Got mt CTT yesterday.  Chiefs on page 19!

SPMan - I could see for 100 yards each time, just needed to slow down to 25-30.  Stop = rear-ender collision, and most of the time not involving the guilty party.  I tell the fifelings to get behind a tractor trailer rig (better view + cb updates) and follow them thru til weather clears.

Thanks rt.  Ran into 3 different thunderstorms, worst one between Richmond and Ashland.  Why do people feel the need to stop on I95 when it rains? Bang Head

Chief - The Tahoe was worth every penny.  With the flex-fuel, got as good of mileage as my MonteCarlo SS.  May have to get me one.

Fife, was it raining so hard that you could not see?  I had that happen once in Florida between the cape and Orlando.  I just pulled over because the wipers couldn't keep up with it.

Hi GUYZ,

WOW we gotta passing shower this morning.  Yesterday I worked and completed another wall with the stone veneer.  It was a 8 x 12 wall and I started at 8 and finished it at 6 minus an hour for lunch and to get out of the heat.  Looks real good.  The toughest part on doing the veneer is the last few rows of putting the puzzle together.  The difference with the stone veneer and brick is that you start from the top down.  The reason is that when you stick them on the mortar squeezes out and if you were doing it from the bottom up your veneer would be very dirty from the falling mortar.  Anyway I have about 5 more days of work here then to clean them up and mortar all the joints.  When you gett a rythem its not too bad.

TRAINDOOD, we didn't have AC growing up either.  Always outside either playing ball or working in it and was really tired at nite so we kinda fell asleep from all the activity.  You don't see to much of that anymore.

Stay frosty and watch your topknot,

Good Morning

79/91 for the day.

Had a nice chat with Brutus, Charlie and RT last night. They kept me up past my bed time. Tomatoes are just now turning red, I figure they are at least 10 days behind the norm. Meatloaf in the oven simmering in tomato soup gravy. smells good. Fife's home safe and prayers for Ray's wife, hope she is feeling better..S.J.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Southern raid complete.  Slipped by rebel forces (which were well represented by VA troopers on 95 Wow) last Sunday, and set up camp in Myrtle Beach Paradise.  Loved the water.  Loved the ocean breezes.  Loved the palmettos everywhere.  Hated the double resort taxes (caused by some of the bike week cancellations) Dead.  Lots of vacancy signs...wonder why?  Tried to set up a rendezvous in Roseyville, but their leader was at his lake plantation.  Wifey and fifelings enjoyed themselves, and that's all that matters.   And no, didn't get to visit the Yorktown.

Have to go back and read the goings on that have been goings on...

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Swept the house.  Took the wife to see the last "Harry Potter".  Good action flick.  Took care of some financial stuff.  Saw where Vitor is starting 14th at Edmonton tomorrow and the Swiss Miss is ahead of the Princess.  Not much else going on.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all,

I took the boys out shopping as planned and the 8y/o purchased two Star Wars figures - he is very happy.  We went out for some frozen yogurt this evening and then relaxed.  The 1y/o son and I had some brief train time - no pile ups.

For anyone needing inexpensive cars for their layout: Stop by your local Dollar General if you have one.  I found 1:43 scale cars for only $2.50.  They are not the best quality, but there were at least 10 different models and makes.

Dennis - I mistakenly told you the Atlas set at my Hobby Lobby was a Santa Fe set but I was wrong.  I looked at it again today and it is a Southern set.  The price is $93.59.

SJ - That will show 'em. Mischief

John B. - I read about that nurse a few days ago.  Those are always eerie stories to read.

Thanks Brutus and Hudson John.

Prayers for Ray's wife.

Good night,

Joe

John, Angel on their way for Ray's Mrs.

Finally got to drive today, Yeah , only a short trip to pharmacy and back. Don't think I'm ready to drive to the museum yet, to far and to much traffic.

Hello all,

Angel for  AF53, Ray's Mrs

The high today was only 98  Ick! , to hot for me. Never had AC at home until after I started working in the office. Spent all day in AC. It was quite a shock to come home to the heat. One thing I did discover. My allergy's are are much better when we keep the windows closed and run the AC.

Doug, even though they seem to be on top of thing keep an eye on them. I had the same scenario with my Dad . I didn't ask enough questions of the right people. About 12 weeks after a quadruple bypass he ended up back in the hospital for over a week with a temporary pacemaker. The doc's didn't talk to each other and he ended up overdosed on AmiodaroneThumbs Down  Angry He complained of feeling poorly but nobody paid any attention until he started getting lightheaded. His pulse was 35 when he went to the ER.

Time for  Zzz mrs is all ready there.

Prayers for those in need

Prayers for AF53's wife and for us all and our intentions.

Belated birthday wishes for Joe's and Dennis' children, too.

Well we started out early but had a delay this morning.  We finally got out about 10 AM and it was really heating up outside.  We picked up a hole saw bit and 5 sheets of drywall.  Once in the house, we cooled off and wrung the sweat out of our shirts, lol!  We fixed one wall that was narrow and forms the back of a closet.  The bottom corner was pooching out.  Cut it in half and removed and redid the bottom - it worked fine, but still have no idea why that earlier board was sticking out like that?  I couldn't see anything in the way?  We next made a template and cut out holes in a sheet for 3 supply lines (copper water pipes) and a drain line for a sink.  With the two of us, we were able to slide it in, make a few adjustments to trim on one edge, and then get it in place.  After a late lunch, we agreed to do the sheet for the top of the wall tomorrow and called it a day.

Nice chat with tonight with RT and SJ.  Banilla is ready and the TARDIS can fly, so let's get moving!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good afternoon.  Doug, glad you have such a group.  I have found several instances where a lack of communication has caused issues with regard to patient care.  fortunately, none were mine.

RT, glad you found the pieces.  They can be hard to keep track of.  I found some old pacemaker boxes from work that I was able to secure to use for holding my Dremel sets.  They have worked well, but I am sure when my son starts using my tools, I will be having to find or replace missing items not put back.

John B., we have had a few "nurses of death" on this side of the pond.  Not sure what goes into their thinking, but it certainly goes against all rational thought.

Well, I survived two parties for two little girls today.  One of those things, ya just get through and try to get home early enough to enjoy a little peace and quiet.

Got to make the meal for Sunday School tomorrow morning.  Better make it an early night.  Hope everyone has a blessed night, great week ahead.

Good Evening,

Back from Pa. and the JD Reunion. We had a great time and visited the Pa. Train Museum and the Toy Train Museum.

Laz, Thanks for the info on Pioneer Day. I will let you know what is going on.

Brent, Ouch. Expensive jump start.

Traindood, My Mother In law, bless her soul, was following my wife and ran into the back of her. It could happen to anyone.

Chief, Nice plan for Fife.

SJ, My CTT was waiting for me when I got home today.

Banks, I agree that the Oliver was a better tractor. I do not farm and it would be used for play, show and snow removal.

Demay, joe, Happy Belated Birthday wishes to your daughter. I am glad that her party went well.

Brutus, i am sure that the Chief will make sure that Fife's trip is an easy one. Whistling

John Baker, Good luck with the hospital stay and I hope that you do not get a Nurse of Death. What goes through their minds is boggling.

Prayer and Thoughts for all in need

Good afternoon all,

Went to TCA meet today instead of train show at Pomona.  Not too crowded so I guess a few people went to the other show.  Had a nice chat with several members and reminisced about some of our members who are no longer with us.  We were so fortunate to have had a member like Ward Kimball, the famous Disney animator as part of our group for so many years.  He did a lot for the organization including serving as National President at one time.  I spoke to Ward a few times at meetings but never really got to know him personally.  I wish I had.  One of our members brought in a drawing today that was given to him by Ward.  It featured Mickey Mouse on top of some castle.  I told the member to consider himself one of the chosen few to have known such a man.

On the tables today were prizes from a recent collection aquired by a member which included an original Lionel girls set in all original boxes and master carton complete with paper work.  Very nice!

Not 100% healthwise today but kept on trucking anyway.  My UC was acting up.  I think I will become the poster boy for amodium A.D.  I have regular medication but it is not enough sometimes.  Need to consult with the doc.

Have a good weekend,

Ray

Okay will try this again seeing I must of deleted it by mistake befor posting ( sitting here scratching head while Bang Head) okay

Traindood down here because of the humidity It is necessary for a/c I believe. I can't live or sleep without it as the air gets to thick for me.

growing up in PA. we never had A/C till I was in high school like a senior I think. and then was only allowed to use as we went to bed and parents would turn it off befor the went to bed or sometime after I fell asleep all I know it was off come morning. I use to have a double window fan and I think it did better than the a/c at times as it was left on all night and it would be real cool first thing in the morning even in august. But as we get older we change I guess also.

Well got the dremel and the adapter figured out for the drill bit but I accidentally thru the box that had the parts in it away Bang Head cleaning up last weekend I remember picking it up and shaking it and heard nothin and felt nothin and of coarse not as all it was 8 handrails so it was so light you wouldn't feel anything I must of thought it was just an empty box I had around. or there on my desk here and may the Ole might help them as that desk is a national disaster area

well also found out the hard way you need to get those plastic burs off after every drill or they will make the next hole a little to big I think I can correct problem but it will take a little fixing and painting.  I haven't done much of this so I'm learning as I go and plan to give pics and some hints tomorrow in SPF as maybe someone else may not do it because they learned from my mistake.

anyway been a real good day other wise just taking it easy. talk to you all later

Afternoon All.

Great day yesterday ! The Better-Half drove me down to the museum, chatted with the crew and some visitors for awhile til I started to run out of gas. On the way home we went to one of my favorite burger places, "In-N-Out Burger", to try what the call a "Protein Style". Essentially it's one of their burgers w/the works in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, I can get a good burger and still be way down on the sodium level. Not quite as good as the "double-double" I have ordered for years, but one has to adapt.Crying

Dennis, Communication is one of the biggest reasons we decided to put my care into this medical group. Everybody is in the same building, except the ER & Hospital, but they are all connected via computer. So far contact between specialties has been fantastic.

Just hope that I'll be up to doing the halloween layout this year.

Gotta go, catch y'all later.

Good afternoon all,

Our daughter had a great time at her pool party last night.  She received some nice gifts.  We bought her a Kindle.  I'm glad my 10y/o daughter enjoys reading so much that the Kindle was the only thing she wanted.  She left today with the in-laws to spend some time with them since we are moving in a few months.  I will be taking the boys out to Wal-Mart and other stores later on.  The 8y/o has some money to burn and needs wants a couple of new Star Wars figures.  The wife will be able to enjoy some quiet time.  Unfortunately it's too hot again to do much with the kids outside.

SJ and Traindood - I'm not a big fan of A/C either, but the wife can't go without it – she is the queen.  I didn't have it growing up either.

SJ - Our yard/garden looks horrible.  The base has us on a watering restriction (rightfully so) and the extreme heat is torching everything.  I'm glad I didn't plant any tomatoes or peppers this year.

Good day,

Joe
