Good night all.  Why is it Wifeys do not listen?  Finished shopping for the "drop by" and shew as saying no more than 25 folks.  I kept sawing 50 or more.  Her family and friends numbered more than that.  Well we had more than 50.  8 PD on duty came by and friends in the shooting world, town staff and two Town Commissioners and spouces.  Well, we had plenty except the wine punch ran out at the last.  Wifey's special "brew" with wine combined.  It was the most popular thing of the event.  Trains ran well except a couple of MTH diesels which needed battery charging.  They stayed in their parking places.  Kitty Sissy went out and waited until the crowd left.  She did not like the noise.  I crashed in recliner and Lucy woke me so all could take a late pee.  Now all are in bed and asleep except me.

Was thinking [smell the sawdust burning].  Where is Hudson and Howard Brown [amoung a few others missing]?

Sleep tight.

Mornin' boys.  A chilly 32 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  That "pineapple express" moisture is set to land here sometime Sunday PM...we shall see.  Heart goes out to those folks with mud-covered homes.  I think I'm done shopping...except for provisions --->BeerDrinks.  My buddy Tom is coming over tonight for dinner, and a little "rail", of course.  Finally finished my MTH operating crossing signals this week, and man are they sweet looking.Yes  But my MTH GP9 is stalling over my LIONEL switches. No  Gonna have to check under the hood.  Middle princess is gonna be riding the Medic for the first time tonight.  Fifedad went over scene safety/security with her last night, and for kicks, pulled up some old EMERGENCY! threads. Not much on the schedule today, so with any luck, it will be a good day to just veg...but I will have to do it at the hospital.

Aloha all. Grey.  A day with absolutely nothing to do - until Christmas services later. Hopefully, this means some trains-a-running.... the youngest has had a few friends over this week and I've let them run the trains ragged. What fun to hear their excitement. Yes Only casualty so far is I can't find Jame's cab roof. Must be somewhere on the layout. And a few derailments-at-speed but nothing serious.

Sad day for Chicago FD...100 years to the day yesterday they suffered highest number of fatalities up to 9/11, now lost two more.

Good Mornin Ya'll From Snowy Taxachussetts,

Just got done doing snow and ice removal, down to the nub.  Can't have our guests falling down tomorrow night and suing me.  One of these days I must learn to remove the snow BEFORE it becomes semi-permanently affixed to the driveway by cars and foot traffic, thereby increasing the removal time and effort X 3 to get it up. Bang Head

Wife continues the stress spiral as we are having family over for Christmas Eve.  So what does she do?  Adds to it.  The latest.....she volunteered to babysit the grandchildren this afternoon, overnight, and all day tomorrow.  While I am certainly glad my daughter and son-in-law can get all of their stuff done without the stress of the little ones underfoot, the term "taking one for the team" takes on new meaning. Bang Head

So until Christmas is behind us, I will make the following survival observation:  A plan ill conceived but violently executed will nonetheless succeed! Smile, Wink & Grin

Later, gang.

Morning all.  Was warm this AM and now windy.  I think it smells like a Yankee's breath.  Turning cold.  BTW: the ugly S word is in the Christmas Eve and Christmas day forecast. Sad  Will be the first time in YEARS had white stuff on Christmas.  Now according to the forecaster, not amount to much as temps above freezing during the day light.  Off to take hot wings to Town Hall for Christmas meal.  They are off tomorrow and Monday.  Checks to sign too.

Probably do some minor shopping until later.  Fred is worrying me to death to fox hunt this afternoon.  BTW: 870 Express I won on Gun Brokers came in.  Its new!!!!  Man I stole that one.

Later.

Chief.....it's about time you finally celebrate a traditional American white Christmas with some snow.  You should be thankful we Nawtheners thought of you and sent you some, gratis. Smile, Wink & Grin

BTW.....do you have one of those white military grade camouflage snowsuits to sneak up on the vandals?  Or will the scope on your heat make that unnecessary.  Laugh

Good morning all, Yippeee! no rain for the first day in a week.  The sun never looked so good.  Got a dentist appointment today for cleaning.  After that, 1 and 1/2 shopping days left.  Humbug!  Just plan on getting everything dried out for the next couple of days.

We have completed all our Christmas party obligations for the year so there is nothing left to do but run trains.  Sounds good to me.

Have a good day y'all,

Ray

Hey,

Man is that sunlight ever bright! Cool  As reported it seems the rain has passed, we have had a total of  8 1/2" on my patio.  (According to rain gauge.)  I've never seen that much here before in that short of time.  There still plenty of big clouds floating around, and we're suppose to get more on Sunday, then again next Wednesday.  But, this will give people a chance to clear drains, mud piles, etc..

Chris' gf, has got the two of them tickets to go to Catalina this Sunday.  I've suggested they cancel the tickets and do something else instead, he's for it, if he can convince her.  The trip over wouldn't be a whole lot of fun, and wouldn't be a whole lot for them to do once they got there.  And I KNOW Mom, won't be keen on the idea of them making the trip when its raining, on the ocean.  So we will see.

Got most of the Christmas shopping done, need to pick up one more item.  Even have Kay's primary packages wrapped ! Gift

I think today is going to be a baking day, not sure though.  I'm going to see about spending some time in the train room.  Want to see if I can get an AF water tower working correctly.  I think the coil has a broken wire.

Speaking of trains, a friend of mine has a MTH PS1 4 truck shay, (catalog '97), the owners book says it will work on O-42, I have some doubt of that.   He put it on the track it got 1/2 through a curve and stopped dead it it's tracks.  Ended up breaking a drive shaft.  I tried looking up more detail and not much luck. (20-3023-1), I was able to find 3 truck Shays in 2005.  And that's real interesting!  Catalog says it will do O-44.  The reality is, (when you read the fine detail), that the O-44 is for 2-rail only, 3-rail requires O-72.  I thought it was somewhat misleading.  So going to try and find a drive shaft for one of the newer ones and see if it will work in the older unit.

Really looking forward to Christmas this year, we almost lost my FIL, but he is really doing good.  The rest of the family are all enjoying good health, everyone's "want list" exceeds availability.  But all the essential are covered.  And that is what is important.  (Like not having any storm damage, etc.)

In the event I don't get back here before, Hope the Chief gets that White Christmas,  the Snow Canon doesn't explode in the midwest somewhere, and ALL your families have a great holiday.

Don

Hello Banks.  Merry Christmas to you.  How is the farm?  Cold and frozen, I bet.  Glad to see you post.  Had "senior moment" last night and could not come up with name but all I could think of was farmer in PA.

COLD and windy.  38 and wind chill in the low 20's.  Went fox hunting about dark.  Took .22 with iron sights that stays in the back of pickup.  Shot at one and then saw several.  Fred had been there since 3 PM but was in ground blind and out of the wind.  Shot one as he was exiting the blind to quit.  Had to have been close to see it in the dusk.

Staying warm and watching TV.  Meatball sub [meatballs left over from last night].  Cherry pie for desert.

Later.

Good evening all,

It was cloudy in SE Indiana with temps above freezing, but more Snohio due in tomorrow.  "Saucy Wench" was baking up a storm today.  She made cranberry muffins, snicker doodles, and pixies.  Yum!  Went out to see my old boss from the factory.  I have considered working for him again, but I am not sure I want the headaches.  I did some Christmas wrapping as well.  I had bran muffins for breakfast on the dining car.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

          Football? What's a football?Stick out tongue

Not much going on tonight.  Work has been crazy these past few days.  Still need to fix the 30B and make the gaskets for the 314AW.  I have also found out what is inside the original control box, and I'll have to play with that.

Hiya guys!  Well, my internet problems are temporarily fixed by hooking my computer straight to the modem.  No wireless and no xbox connections tonight anyway.  Charter guy got the modem working anyway.  Apparently they have a wireless modem/router we can upgrade to so I might do that as this is the 2nd wireless router I've purchased and I am not feeling the value at this moment.  I need to get this done tomorrow I guess after the snow stops or my son will go crazy without his online games.

Nice chat with Doug tonight anyway!

I'm really grateful for all of you guys here and I pray for us all and for our families and loved ones.  I know we are very grateful here to have my wife at home for Christmas.  We bought the kids a bunch of stuff, but we just upgraded our phones and called it good - after we get our rebates, lol!  Oh, I did get her an ornament she doesn't know about.

DId shopping tonight and got the food for the feast on Saturday - sure hope the family from KC is able to come visit or we'll be eating ham for a month, no joke!  It freezes well though.

Tardis is ready and I can drive tonight - just have to add the reindeer decorations to the front :)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

And being that it's now Christmas Eve, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and if you are travelling be safe and arrive home safe!

Sunny and about 40 again today.  Won't last though.  The temp is falling, and that low pressure system that dumped so much rain on the west coast is headed east.  Weather map has it just clearing the Rockies tonight.  Will be here for Christmas.

Slept in today, then putzed.  Got some clean up and winterizing done out on the deck and some odd jobs done inside.

The log dump car I scored on e-bay showed up today.  It is well used, but it also looks like somebody has been through it doing some maintenance recently.  I'll try it out tomorrow.

All for now.
