Wet, rainy and cold = Saint Louis today.  Daughter said she was stuffed up and throat and ear hurt, so took off early and took her to the doc today.  She is fine, but got a prescription for her just in case it turns into an ear infection.  Doc said not to fill it until/if she starts having more symptoms.  I had a little temp yesterday and feeling sick all day - called and have an appointment with a new doctor tomorrow morning.  I won't go back to our old doctor since he was treating my wife for the wrong thing for 2 years and refused to see her for a "virus".  That's when we changed docs and found out how sick she really was.

In-laws drove over today and visited with my wife at the hospital.  First time for my father-in-law and he was obviously pretty upset.  But, she is doing a lot better and doctor said if she keeps improving at the current rate she will be home soon.  Sure hope so!

Nice chats with SJ and Charlie tonight.  Sorry we missed you, RT.  MIke - glad you are feeling better!  you can drive, lol!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all

The train show was a big hit.  They estimated ~ 3000 peoplecame to it.  There was 18 layouts I think.  Two venders with over priced stuff.  Trains ran great even with one tumble to the the floor.  Nothing broke.  Gotta love that Flyer.

Never bought anyting but the crossing gate and Royal Blue came in.  Both in great shape and I don't need to do anything to either one.  There is another crossing gate on the bay that I am going to try for.

Hope you are all doing well and may God bless

Rainy and 50's today.

Trip to the next city east to visit the knee specialist for my wife.  She got a shot of 'knee grease' in the knee that is bothering her.  We'll know in 2 to 3 weeks if the stuff is going to help.

Was hoping to stop at the LHS when we got back this afternoon.  Were too late though.

All for now.

Fifey, Ashland VA is featured in movie on Lifetime Channel right now.  Recognized it right off when I saw the wooden crosswalks over the dual mainline tracks.  Sure enough, the depot came up next.

Hello all,

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Haven't checked in since Wednesday. I think it was page 32. Now its 39. I'll try to catch up tomorrow.

Thanksgiving here was good. Much to be thankful for.

Got gutters cleaned and roof patched on Saturday. Spent today taking my rifle for a walk in the woods. saw on;y four deer and they were to far away to identify. The herd around here is slim. Lots of acorns remaining says to me there's not enough deer to eat them up.

Laz, hope you made out better than me.

Ran trains with the grandkids a couple of times. We watched them a couple of hours Saturdat evening while their folks went to a birthday party.

I'm off to bed. 5:00 AM will come too soon

Prayers for all that needthem

Evening all.  No trains today. Crying As soon as I got away from Town Hall, I started getting up leaves.  Got Grady to do the climbing and gutter cleaning.  Then he blew the leaves out on the yard and drive.  The ole John Deere with bagging unit sucked them up and off to the garden they went.  Was real dry so it was dusty gelore!!!!  The good thing about dry is they mulch smaller and you get more in the bags. Thus, less trips to the garden.  Showered and got the mud out of my sinuses [Nettie Pot].  Now rest.  Long day tomorrow.  Lucy to groomers at 7 AM, 9 AM I'm off to Leland [Wilmington] to see a Super Street Intersection, 5 PM I'm at elementary school encouraging kids to read and finally a reception at Centery Link [local telephone co.].  Suppose to start raining and then some heavy stuff by midnight tomorrow.

Sleep tight.

Evening to All,

I thought I'd share a link to a YouTube video my sister posted showing my nephew and his Dad setting up his train set.  He has definitely has been bitten by the train bug.  He is so cute and so excited. I love his enthusiasm and the sheer joy on his face.

Ray, Jon, and anyone else into music, we have a group coming to our church December 19th, but they do a lot of touring and if they are in your area, they are worth taking in.  It is called the Annie Moses Band.   They are Julliard trained and really impressive.  Play a mix of string instruments.  Mike, yeah, we are strict on biblical teaching, but at least it is  a consistent message.  Word has been the same for much longer than any individual has been preaching and it limits any deviation.

Chief, hope you are feeling better.  You have too much on your plate to be sick.  Looking forward to your report after running that new engine.

It is over cast here and in the high 50s.  They had originally said it would be in the 70s, but have pushed that back to the end of the week.  We have had rain on and off for the last few days which is a good thing.  I do need to get out and make sure the deer have not been rubbing my fruit trees.

Take care and God Bless,
Dennis

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in 50s.  Mood is getting better as day progresses.  Wife's growth on back of leg was successfully removed.  Sending it out for biopsy, but doctor said even if it was cancerous, they should be able to remove the rest of it if needed.  SFR announces "Special" Ed Carpenter as her full-time driver for their schedule.  Good move for both as Ed is fiercely competitive on ovals and will make team a factor there.  Road courses are Achilles heel for both and so they will not have great expectations there.  Found a Christmas gift for the grandkids that we could not get on Saturday.  So far a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hi, we got about 4" of snow late yesterday & last night.  Of course, I waited until this morning to replace my worn out snow shovel & get more ice melt.  it's sunny & warming, though.

Went for a nice horseback ride Friday because it was so nice & got the yard Christmas lights up Saturday.  Just beat the snow.

Starting a Christmas layout for the first time.  Will try to get some pix online when it is farther along.

Good morning all, the frost is on the pumpkin here this morning.  The temp was only 35 degrees this morning.  That's pretty cold for Southern California.  Noticed some more snow  was on Mount Baldy when I returned home yesterday from San Diego.  One good thing about the colder weather is that my pool needs no chlorine.  Algae doesn't grow when it's cold.

Picked up a couple of new CD's from the festival over the weekend.  Will give them a spin today.  One of them was fairly new but the other one was recorded 12 years ago and features a favorite cornet player of mine and leader of the High Sierra Jazz Band,  Al Smith.  Al retired from the band after that recording as he had two young boys to raise and wanted to be around more while they were growing up.  That was the story I heard at the festival.  I was happy to hear that he is sitting in now and then with the present band personnel.

Have a good week y'all

Ray

Aloha all from a sunny and warming Chicago where my blankety-blank-blank less than 4 months old iPhone suddenly died. Oh well, in the grand scheme of things, this is not a big deal but it'll mean a trip to the store and no doubt some arguments, though I will enter the 'battlefield' serenely....  Enjoyed the Bears win over the Philadelphia Vicks. Then rain trains whilst watching Law&Order UK. A nice night. Off to the ATT store...

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Cold dark and 28 this AM in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Will be a busy week.  Went to YORK yesterday, and picked up a Lee Petty Chrysler 300 (TeamCaliber 1:43. cool piece with opening doors, trunk and hood) for $8, 2 boxes of Dept56 chainlink fencing for $15, and an old Britains collie for $5.  One of the neat products I saw were a series of Battlefield damaged buildings by IMEX (?).  They are 1/72 scale, but looked to be very proportionate to S scale.  I would even used them in the background for O scale.  Would make a neat fire scene or abandoned building.  Fifepup picked up a couple football action figures.  My good friend Tom had a table at the train-show (old main hall).  Went to GlenRock,PA to see their annual layouts in O-S-G-HO.  Then we stopped by best friends house in Stewartstown for dinner.

When I got home, grabbed a jar of reefer white and a jar of engine black, and set about "touching up" the decades-old metal dog.  With littlest princess, we were able to dab on appropriate markings to "Lassie", who will now be roaming around Cumberland.

Good morning all,

It will be rainy and mild in SE Indiana today.  Dennis, that is an interesting concept you described about your services.  Normally, I do not get that agitated about the homily, but every once in a while, I get a "Blues Brothers" moment.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

PS SFR will make announcement for 2011 today.  Hopefully it will involve Graham Rahal and some support from Target Ganassi Racing.

Thanks for the note Chief. I'll have to hope Don contacts me (I owe him a mail) as I lost my address book in a recent crash of my data bases. Can you believe it? Both my main ERNIES and my mobile chose the same day to crash (probably a senior moment?), and of course being a very senior TOG---no back up!!!!

Jolly England is getting blathered with that white stuff, I hope it's the right sort, because if it is the wrong sort of snow? It will bung up the blowers on our locomotives and stop the clockenwerks from wirring-Oh Dear!!!

Sunny and 50's today.  Didn't matter much - was another 12+ hour day in the plant.

Got the prototype parts made, though.  Kind of eventful too.  Blew up about $3,000 worth of tooling the first time we hit one of the new dies in the press.  Chunks of tool steel came flying out of the press!  Been a long time since we've blown one up that bad.  Got it patched together well enough that we could run the parts.  Revised running clearances and a different choice in tool steel will prevent this in the future.

The pressure on my new product programs drops a quantum level or two with the completion of these parts.

Taking my wife to the knee specialist tomorrow for a shot of 'knee grease'.  Hopefully that will make her knee feel better in time for when she starts PT for her back surgery.  We'll see.

Picked up a white 6014 Frisco box car on e-bay yesterday for cheap.  Never made it into the LHS this weekend.  Some of the items I have on order are showing as shipped on the Lionel web site.  Suspect that they might have arrived at the LHS.

All for now.

Good evening gentlemen, nothing much going on in Saint Louis today.  Got up late - only day I can sleep in a bit.  About 9 I woke up the kids and we had some biscuits and omelots I had cooked.  Did some laundry, played some videogames, and just hung out with the kids for a while.  Got the groceries, picked up dinner on the way home, and then called Char.  I also talked to my mother-in-law about a trip for the kids, but it wouldn't work due to my daughter's concerts.

SJ - sounds Peachy!  :)  On the way!

Good evening everyone.  Was a good day with church.  We had a speaker who is both a psychiatrist as well as a pastor today.  He comes every year about this time as well as a few times throughout the year.  Has a lot of humor mixed in with a good message that is all bible based.  He dances around the pulpit quite a bit, so that kept me busy on the camera.  I had a headache when we were done, but that is OK.

Rich, I think many larger firms think they are in the driver's seat so as to speak with the economy and job situation the way it is.  HR departments don't follow up like they used to.  Perhaps a persistent applicant will make the difference?  With regard to the fire academy in MD, I have not been there, though I have been to a number of meetings sponsored by them.  Another nice memorial is in Colorado Springs.  I don't recall if it was just for the IAFF, or for everyone.  We were there when it was first dedicated and our guys were among the first LODs when it was being opened.

Mike, pastors are only human and need a little reminding.  If they are worth their title, they will take constructive criticism for what it is worth.  We have a very good system in which we have a "executive pastor" who, though he is not the one giving sermons, is the one to take the pastor aside to have conference.  One thing we are all about is prayer.  We have a group of men who pray for the leadership of the church and all decisions are prayed over.  Also, when services are going on, there is a room behind the pulpit that has men of God praying for the message and the messenger.  And under the pulpit is a bible opened to "If any man preaches anything but the Word of God, let him be accursed"...to say the least, we take it seriously.

Chief,  Have a lot of fun with that Genset.  Look forward to some photos and a full report.  From what I have heard about them, they are really great.  Good luck.

May the week ahead be full of God's Blessings to each of you.

Dennis

PS:  Laz, when I pulled into the driveway tonight, saw several nice size bucks bedded down, just looking at me.  Not a one spooked, just watched me get out of the car and head to the house!

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI.  Got last of leaves done, and Lucas is back at school.  Otherwise another worthless day.  Heckfire even the priest ticked me off.  He was preaching about keeping Advent and criticized the school for having Christmas stuff before Dec. 25.  I talked to him afterward and reminded him he was the pastor and as such could put a halt to that situation if he wanted to.  I told him  I thought it was rude to criticize people under his direction from the pulpit.  I think it made him think a little bit.  Worked on Marx 994 engine trying to get it to run.  Oiled, lubed, and cleaned brushes, wheels, and armature.  )&_&)_&()&*()*&^()*&^()*^ engine still will not run.  About ready to chuck whole )&)*)*)* hobby.  Not a good day.

Good everning,

Been a busy time here, went to Thanksgiving day dinner at daughters, had whole family except one daughter, SIL and their son.  That made 13, but we included Lady, the black lab, so we had 14 total. Smile  Had a great time.   Daughter sent lots of leftovers along home so we are still working on them.

Saturday was devoted to Football, with mixed results.  Penn State lost, as expected, but was hoping for a miracle.  Fla. State won and Maryland did them a favor and also won, which puts Fla. State in the ACC championship game against VA Tech, hoping for another miracle here as I doubt they will beat VA Tech.

Today after church, we picked up a laptop at Best Buy, that I had ordered for the 11 year old granddaughter and I just spent a couple of hours setting it up. Deleted a bunch of crap that was preloaded and installed some good software that her Dad wanted loaded for her.  I've had it running about 4 hours and all looks good.  We spent a couple of hours this afternoon when the Sun was out completing the Winterization of the pond.

Hope everyone has a great week.
