Hi GUYZ,
36 here and a bit frosty, glad I didn't plant tomatoes yet, maybe this week? 21 more dayz o school for me, but who's counting?
Stay frosty,

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI but cool with temps in the 60s. "Desperate Housewives" had a lot of action last night. Building to a lot of cliff-hangers for the end of the season. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car before sending it to "Points East". TBIL anytime and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Oh man. Reclinerized too long. Was watching Jessie Stone movie and off I went. I still got it as DVR'd it.
Sturg, here is the part of the garden I re-disked. Did that so soil would be soft and also to destroy any weeds that had started. Cucumbers and cantalopes planted here:
Now Yankees, the real gardens are in the South. Bet you all don't have gardens growing this big this early.
Cabbage and onions.
Squash left and peppers right.

8n,
I agree about the high profile spoiler. It looks out of place IMHO. One thing that I noticed when looking at Cobalts was how much Chevy improved on from the J Platform vehicles (Cavalier and Sunfire). Also, if you can get it rust proofed, go for it. I just found a winter gift on the lower part of the passenger side door on the Sunfire, so I got my work cut out for me.
Brutus,
Yes, it does suck. It could have been much worse damage wise though. The radio was $70, so that isn't a huge amount to replace. I just wish I could have been there when it when down...
8NT - prayers for your wife and her surgery. My dad had a laminectomy back in like 1971 and he's done pretty well since then. Prayers for us all and our Mom's, wives, grandchildren, friends and loved ones.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Jim - Sorry about the radio, that sucks!
Doug - good luck on the dentist, we have tried 3 now and keep looking for a good one.
Went to Mom's for brunch with family. At Mom's we had honey bake ham, egg casseroles, fruit, donuts, monkey bread, coffee cake, cheesecake - other stuff and all good. Never was hungry for lunch and just had a bag of popcorn. I might get some peanut butter or something in a little bit though. Finally got my Dad's old computer stuff copied over and backed up on a thumb drive for him to keep. Started helping my daughter with her roller coaster school project and had to run out to Walmart for marbles. Got home and Char was helping her so I took a nap
Tardis is ready so let's hit it guys!
Partly sunny and 60's today.
Golly! Didn't check the forum for a few days and missed a bunch - a political fopa, Navyjack & Brutus have new avatars. Looks like I missed some fun.
DDG - We took a family camping vacation at the Natural Bridge State Park in Ky, some years back. Really enjoyed hiking around the area, with it's spectacular scenery. Went in the summer and about cooked. Fall would be better, with cooler temperatures and color. Good luck with the dentist.
Brutus - Deathworld Trilogy. I remember that one as being a pretty fun read.Do you remember the part about the giant lyden jar? Great news about your wife, too.
Doug M. - Redneck? Depends. Does your tool box have more than WD40 and duct tape?
97 Probe - the Cobalt is black. The 45 series tires, alloy wheels and color work well. In my opinion, loosing the wing thing in the deck lid will improve the looks even more.
Yup - closed the deal on the Cobalt SS. Not a bad car. Logged 31mpg last night out on the highway. Keeping out of the boost, it is another 2 liter econo box. Apply right foot, bring the boost positive, it moves along rather smartly. Doesn't feel too quick, but it is surprising what the speedometer reads after rowing through the gears with the throttle matted. The computer is doing some sort of magic with the waste gate. I get the feeling that most of the time the blower is just bypassing.
We've scheduled back surgery for my wife at the end of July. Recovery will be long on this one, probably December or January before the bones are fully fused.
We finally got to go racing last night. Good night too. Good set up on the car, made the A main, finished the A main, nobody ran into us, we didn't run into anybody, nothing broke on the car. More importantly, with the current set up, the driver is more confident with the car. The track got a new series sponsor, so they passed out stickers that had to go on the cars. No problem - except the sponsor sticker was black lettering only. The car is black! In order for the sticker to show up, we had to place it partially over another sponsor's sticker....
Seeing as how this is supposed to be a train forum, here is the train stuff. Stopped by the LHS and started negotiating on some of the ACF stock cars in the '10 catalog.
laz 57 HI GUYZ, 46 and cold and very windy here both yesterday and today. Went trout fishing with BRO last nite. In 3 hrs., we caught and released 15 rainbows and brownies. Had a blast with trout and chubs and small mouth bass. Biggest was the small mouth at about 16 inches, lots o fight in it. Trout were about 12 inches, all nice fish. Came home and made meatball hoagies and OL MIls. Great nite, no fire because of the wind. DOUG M, nope i didn't see Avatar the movie either, probably won't. Heck I never saw any of the Star Wars movies. Must be way behind the times? All YUZ GUYZ in MICH and Wisc., hope you didn't put away the snow shovels? Wisc. got 6 inches of the white stuff yesterday morning. Stay frosty, laz57 PS Happy MOM's Day!!!!

Laz......you make your own Ole Mils. You are one talented guy.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Don,
That is a good analogy concerning being a member of a forum and a guest in someone's home. Sometimes thought when a emotional topic pops up it is easy to lose sight of that. Believe me, I understand what you are saying 110%.
Ok, after today I need to vent a bit. After getting to work this morning, I noticed that the power lock in the drivers door of the Sunfire had failed and it was impossible to even lock the door manually. No big deal, I'll just flip the backseat down and put the satelite radio in the trunk. Someone must have been watching and waiting. When I came out this afternoon, I found the radio laying on the back floor ripped from its dock. The connectors on the dock and bottom of the receiver are destroyed. Fortunately nothing else was touched. It just makes me so angry that people have to do stuff like this.
Yum. Fried chicken. Had a nice day with the bride. Hope she felt celebrated. Praying for your dental work, Doug... nothing to fool with.

Very quiet and restful day here. No body came by so the better half had a very restful & relaxing day, fixed her some buttermilk biscuits w/butter & honey for a late breakfast. Just finisheed supper, she didn't want to go out because of crowds, so I made buttermilk fried chicken w/mashed potatoes & gravy and buttered sweet corn. I'm ready for a nap.
Gotta get in to see the dentist in the morning, broke a tooth friday nite. Unfortunately this is a new guy I've never been to before, my regular one retired and gotta select one from the "preferred provider" list.
Have get going and start kitchen cleanup, enjoy the cookin' but don't enjoy the clean-up( frying chicken always makes a mess ).

Do I understand that we cannot even fly an American flag here on CTT anymore?
I agree with Don, patriotism is not political chatter.

OgaugeoverlordBefore anyone jumps on The Selctor - I deleted the Flag posts. I don't disagree with the intent of the post, but there are plenty of political forums around to discuss this topic on. Political chatter is prohibited and this includes the Pot thread.
I was brought up to respect the rights of others and especially in their "homes", even more so when there as their guest. And, if as a guest you don't concur with the host's rules or methods, simple, you just don't go there.
If what I posted would be considered "political chatter" then we obviously have a significant difference of opinion. (A feeling of patriotism is NOT the same as politics, in my terms. Patriotism is a devotion to ones country or nation, even if you don't subscribe to all the politics. Similar to the image of a US Flag on the side of many UP Diesel engines.) However, I WILL respect your guidelines and rules, and take the appropriate action.
Don
Good Evening All
55 degrees, 34 again overnite.
All the kids came by, they took turns I think as each showed up as the other left. We went out to supper with the last ones. Mexican food, I stopped before I OD brought the rest home. So I've had my banilla but we have some for the thingy crew. S.J.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. I took wife and Lucas and his girlfriend for a nice lunch today after Mass. Rested a little and then edged and trimmed the yard. Watched Betty White on SNL last night. Her bits were funny, some of the others..... Lucas starts work tomorrow at summer job. I had biscuits and bacon on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms, I made a mad dash this morning to pick up the roses and a card for starters. Wound up with a card with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on the front. Kind of fits a toy train nut though like me.
Cooked breakfast for the bride for Moms Day. Having a get together with rest of family this afternoon. Probably buy some stuff already cooked. Would do some grilling but my Bar-B-Que is bad order. I put a new burner in it but I just get an orange flame when it should burn blue. Tried adjusting it but nothing seems to work. The way it is causes too much flame and burns the food. I guess its time to buy a new grill.
Happy day to all the moms,
Ray

Morning. Cooler and windy. Dropped 20 degrees over night. Late return from BASEBALL game [the real American sport ]. We won 11 to 5. Had some good but HOT wings. Ended up free. Ordered at the first of the game. By 4 th ending did not come. Lady working our box suite came in, good news, wings free, bad news got to wait 20 more minutes as kitchen missed the first order. Well, as my Police Chief says, "Free is for me."
Got to cook for In-laws. Cooking hamburgers. Will be like a herd of cows descending on a trough of "sweet feed" [Pat, Howard and Banks will understand].
Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms.
Later
Happy Mothers' Day!
Avatar was okay - my daughter loved it. Lots of neat military hardware. It reminded me too of a book called Deathworld Trilogy I read about 30 years ago. The story was so-so, but the visual effects were great.
Ole Timer RT ..... I found the box you sent !!!!!! Thanks buddy ! Wife mislaid it and did'nt tell me it came .... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the wonderful and great moms = grandmothers = and wives out there .... we love and appreciate you more than we say sometimes ....

"Mother's Day"
A day to celebrate moms who watch over us here and from above.
Enjoy!
Ã…loha all. Spectacular day here. Cold but sunny. I second the thanks to all our brides who are moms and our moms who are still with us - prayers for the Chief's mom... Got up at o-dark-30 to take the youngest to sing at church. Forgot his lunch, water bottle and activity bag (since he'll be there until 2). So back I'll go in a bit. Hope to celebrate the bride too a bit later with dinner. Thanks for the reminder Jack. I was wrapping our little gifts last night - and thought this doesn't look like enough so I got more flowers this am. Your fault/ credit.
Brutus, I must be the only one on the planet who haven't seen Avatar. Though I like the other 'Avatar - Airbender' series on Nickolodeon. Looks like that'll be a movie soon.Wes, glad you're OK with the BP med. Nothing to fool around with
Glad I didn't plant anything as last night's hard frost would've killed it... Can a guy who's never lived south of 35th St. in Chicago be a red-neck? Like Doug says, I've spent many a day outside working in the field. Have one of those 'farmer tans'. LOL
Good Morning
Wow 34 but sunny when I woke this morning, temp is climbing now.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY
No plans unless granny wants me to take her out to eat. We saw the kids yesterday so I'm not sure if they will stop by or not. Enjoy part 2 of your weekend...S.J.
Good early Sunday everyone. Happy Mother's Day to all the women who put up with us nuts! Getting ready for morning church. MIL is here, but will be leaving later this morning...I will have left for church by then.
We went out for some great Italian food last night. After several years of trying to get SWMBO to go to this place, she finally relented two months ago and now it seems it is her favorite place to go.
Spanky, when they did my ACL, they just removed all the torn tissue and I am doing without. Only issue I have had is that early on (it has been since the early 80s) my knee would lose stability and I would fall. I built up the muscle mass around the knee and have only felt a little unstable on occasion. I think techniques have gotten better in the last 25+ years.
Hope that everyone has a great week ahead.God Bless, dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
Happy Mother's Day.
It is a cool 48 degrees. Sunny. Going up to only 70 today, with lots of sunshine.
Today is an easy day. A few chores to do and then relax. I may run trains, later, and take a nap. Ball game this afternoon.
Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
happy mothers day to all you ladies that put up with us guys. have a blessed peaceful day....and when you take a nap from eating all the great food we provide you...let us mess around with our trains.navyjack
wes...wish i could see your shays run. are you going to build a logging layout?
Morning Folks,
Pretty chilly here in South Central PA this AM, 44 but thank goodness the wind has died down. Glad there no snow like our friends in Michigan are facing.
Son and his gf are here for the weekend. Always nice to have them around. Give me a good excuse to make a real breakfast. Probably make some scrapple, eggs, and biscuits. Possibly some sausage gravy instead of the scrapple. I do love the scrapple even though it is probably not the healthiest thing to eat.
Heading to my brother's house today for a Mother's Day Cook out. Probably need a sweatshirt and jeans. Burgers and dogs on the grill are on the menu.
Sitting around the house drinking coffee waiting for the others to awaken. Son and his gf were out until at least 1:00 AM. The Mrs. likes to sleep late, even the dog went back to bed.
Happy Mother's Day to all.
