John, with that combo, you'll bat a thousand!  My mom had intended to have a girls of the family get away there and I was to fly my bride up for it....too late now.  I may bring my wife up some day.  There was a restaurant with a street name, like #54 9th avenue..or something like that.  It was very good.  It has been about 20 years since I was there.

Jack, I know a few folks you could send those "presents" to.  Oh, never mind, it would cause a big stink!  Hope you are able to get from under all that snow sometime soon.

Was a good day.  Went in late to work, so got to spend a couple of hours alone with the wife.  Work was relatively easy, so finished early and got to spend some time with the whole family before we had to take the kids to violin lessons.  They did very well, so we took them out to a great BBQ joint in town.  It was torture in that my wife and I both had salad with an ear of corn....only thing allowed on the diet.  Kids had lots of good food and while there, son's tooth came out, so waiter gave the kids both ice cream.

I have an early heart tomorrow, so I better get in and get some sleep.  I do hope that Char continues her progress, that Chief gets over his crud, and that each of you have a great night and a better tomorrow.
God Bless,
Dennis

Evening all

It has been a long but rewarding day.  I need to do some reading and writing before I go to bed.

I will say extra prayers for the family and loved ones of the boy who died of cancer.

May God bless

Got a letter from a fellow retired Southern Pacific Railroad engineer who has moved to Lexington, Virginia where his daughter lives.  He is a California guy and not used to all the snow they are having.  He said they are having the worst Winter since 1992 and he is learning a new hobby--shoveling snohio.  I would like to see that part of Virginia someday.  I hear it's a nice place.

Ray

Ray, ALL of Virginia is a nice place! We promise to not let this winter repeat for at least 100 years. It's a wonder your friend didn't go back to CA .Smile,Wink, & Grin

Pat

Ray.....Virginia is beautiful, especially the mountains and the Shenandoah, but my favorite area in the east is Upstate New York near Lake Placid.  Mountains, streams, lakes and the wilderness are bountiful.

Jack......All the PT therapists I have met over the years are young and beautiful.  I believe you are correct that Chuck's reports have been censored.   You are right, the Chiefie is too quiet. He used to average 8-10 posts per hour.  Maybe the law is looking for him again.  I'll check the bulletin board at the post office for an update tomorrow.

Laz......How does the ERR cruise compare to MTH? I need to purchase another ERR for my Monon BL2.  If you look at the photos on my web site below, you will see the Wabash FM Trainmaster and B&O Sharks running with the ERR units.  My Lionel GP30 runs just as smooth as the ERR, but K-Lines are not even close in terms of creeping down the track.

Jim....Congratulations of five years.  I have always appreciated your influence for good, but I don't think it has worked one bit on the Chief.  He is as ornery as the day, I showed up on the forum.

RT....Thanks!!!

Hello from Decatur IL...... Havn't posted in about three weeks cause I made the move. I'm here in railroad heaven or hell which ever way ya look at it. Bean fields and frieght trains and then more bean fields and then more trains and then trains going through bean fields..LOL The new job is going ok so far ...I like it anyway, I just hope they like me...Then when I'm sure its permenent I'll move the family out here.. Decatur is an interesting town, but then again I'm from NJ so this is very new to me. I've never looked out over land and was able to see the horizon, that only happens if ya look over the ocean back east. ...Steve

Sunny and mid 40's today - though I did have to scrape frost off of the windshield (my wife's too) this morning.

Steve - don't worry too much about the scenery in the Decatur part of the world - it changes yearly.  I think that they rotate crops there.  Goes something like corn, wheat, beans.  Took a trip to Michigan last week and drove through your neighborhood twice.  Ended up stopping in Champain at a hobby shop called Slot & Wing.  They have a little bit of everything - a lot of it looks like close outs and stock from other shops that have closed.

Lionel is still listing the Harry Potter expansion set on their web site.  I'll stop by my LHS and put one on order, gambling that if none are in stock, they will be making another production run of them soon.

All for now.

Morning all.  Early reading and prayers are done, just finished breakfast and a quick cup before heading in.  Should be an early day and then I can come home and start on the next project.  Has been cold down here...about mid 40s yesterday, not sure what the temp is now, but I guess I will wear a jacket.

Steve, good luck out there.  I left NJ in the early 90s and only go back for visits.  The longer I have been away, it seems I run into people that have done the same.  Never seem to hear people moving to NJ.  Tax structure is not appealing. (except Rich, he keeps saying he wants to move back....but we know!)  NJ is a place you are from, not a place you are going to.

Better run.  May you all find God's blessings in this day,

Dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a 28 degree morning. The sun is trying to shine. Going up to 36 today with some sunshine.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I am doing a few chores around the house. Later, I will relax in the train room. Not much else new here.

Dining car has arrived and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps finally hitting the 40s today....maybe.  Snohio is disappearing.  Played soccer last night.  Too many people in too small an area.  Basically just tried to not get hurt and succeeded in that respect.  Still fun.  Slept well.  Was nice relaxing in the lounge on the Tardis last night.  Needed that.  Busy days at work.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast after it arrived from "Points East".  TBIL anytime tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Update on Lucas:  He woke up with rash all over body yesterday.  The rash from the infected dermatits was gone, but he had an allergic reaction to the anti-bacterial medicine that was fighting the infection.  Basically, he has a whole new set of allergies since his immune system was "rebooted".  Go figure.  This rash does not itch and the doctor gave him some other meds, but the kid does not seem to be catching many breaks here lately.  Again, go figure.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

PS  Prayers going out to all who need them.

Aloha from a sunny and cold Crystal Lake where I'm cooking breakfast for the boys before getting them off to school while the bride sleeps in. Going-away 'surprise' party for our exec pastor last night - love when they work right. Maybe go visit Woodstock Hobbies today if I can disappear for a while Wink.  It is fun hearing of our different marriage proposals. I was pretty traditional - offered a ring on bended knee while she sat on the ratty coach in my city apartment. Used to live on Halsted at Fullerton, Jack. Got to prep for final class this Sat. too.

Mornin' boys.  Blue skies and 36 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Pretty good college game last night.  I enjoy seeing Coach K getting his whities in a bunch.  Finished the kitchen ceiling patch.  Had some mix of paint and joint compound left over.  Promptly went down to the layout, and spatualted the front edge of my Cumberland section, then poured on the balast.  Love it when a plan comes together.

SteveW - trains and beans.  Makes me think of Blazing Saddles.

Chief - There should be a statute of limitations on being victims...

Phish - 5 years and we still haven't met.  Gotta fix that.

As an aside, on my first stop, met a pharmacist from Iselin, NJ, had a long talk, interesting guy.  Spent too much time on that stop, though.

Meeting, then more work...man I’m beat.  I may be sick on Monday....

Afternoon all

A quick check in during lunch.  A busy day indeed!

Fife - If they ever get the required continuing education sessions moved from the same weekend as York, both spring and fall, there may be a chance to hook up.  I would like to meet you as well.

Buckeye - Perhaps special prayers to Saint Jude, patron saint of hopeless causes, or Saint Monica who prayers for the conversion of her son Augustine, who not only reformed from his bad boy ways but became a revered father of the Church.  There is hope.  Maybe a novena?

Got to go, may God bless

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Snowing Taxachusetts,

Not much is expected from this event.  Not much left of the old stuff, and the temps should keep things in check.  May drop a coat of fertilizer in the next week to get things going a bit earlier this year.  There is a lot of yard debris that needs to be picked up first, residue from last week's high winds.  But my city's yard waste dump is still closed for the winter.....dumping prohibited and compost on one's property is encouraged.  A bad move unless you have lost your sense of smell and don't mind angry bees and snakes down the road.

Rich.....re .that pharmacist you mentioned that used to live in Iselin NJ.  Not a mile from where I used to live in Avenel.  It seems amazing that 35 years ago I lived a stone's throw from Route1/9 (95) and am now 7 miles from the same road essentially, albeit 260 miles North of there.  34 degrees in FLA?!?  I hate when that happens, but only when I am there.  Keep the blankets on Shamu.

Dennis.......don't worry about causing a "big stink."  Worry about getting caught!  Big Smile  The manufacturing plant runs 24/7/365 and I can guarantee freshness.  Color and texture preference?  No problem.....custom orders available.  Sounds like there is no protein in your diet and you are on the cusp of growing long ears and a fluffy tail....rabbit diet.  Re your little guy's lost tooth, hope the Tooth Fairy has modernized protocols and leaves something that runs on 3 rails.  Our granddaughter lost one of her front teeth the day we all went to a photographer for a family Christmas photo......she looked like one of the Boston Bruins only smaller.

Buckeye and JimSP.....it appears that our prayers and kindness have not worked for the "ornery" one.  Must be the corn liquor.

Brutus......one of you guys sent me some B52 pics.  I would have accepted your offer last night to pilot the Tardis but couldn't figure out how to get all of the ordinance loaded into a phone booth with all of the beer already in there.  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Chuck......I see from your post this morning you didn't take the bait, and we still don't know the real skinny on this PT dedication.  Wink

MikeC.....sorry to hear about Lucas' new issue, but it is far better than the other one.  Hope he is over the hump on the latter.

Steve......you are smart not pulling the trigger quite yet on the NJ end of things until you get the lay of the land in Decatur, on a number of fronts.  The job stability.  Property values have for the most part troughed and are on their way back up.  If your company is providing any measure of relocation assistance, you may be well advised to hire a tax guy this time around.  Reimbursed directly to you or company expensed?  You may get a most unpleasant surprise when you find some/all of the stuff your company is picking up the relo or temporary commute expenses tab on winds up as an add on to your income on your W2.....and you are responsible for paying those taxes, federal and state.  I made a lot of incorrect assumptions on a relocation once and paid the price for those assumptionsa terrible personal price.  You also may want to bone up on tax breaks for non-reimbursed relo/commuting expenses and start saving your receipts.

Later, gang.

Smilehello guys, hope that you are all fine.  i am glad you boys from the south got plenty of iron as i would not want anybody else at my back and i know that the u.s. could never be invaded from south of the u.s. it is the same with us guys from chicago.  they are fixin to take away our guns.....but guess what.  we are good at hiding things.  we will continue to guard the good old u.s. from the north, and i can sleep well at night knowing who is guarding the south.

p.s. medicare is paying about 20 percent less for the same services. and state sponsored drug plan costs 32.50 per month to pay for my meds that i do not get from va that cost 5.00 per prescription at walmart.  i told them to cancel.  we need lots of prayers  navyjack

NAVYJACK .... You know the old saying about prying our guns from our cold dead hands also ... I think that would be one extremely bad mistake for them to try to take the guns from legal - law abiding citizens .... do they really want millions of irate gun owning citizens again like right before the revolutionary war with England ? I think not ... how about you buddy .... what do you think ?

Jim.....I believe Jack is correct, corn liquor must be the cause.  I don't think I want to do that nine days thing for the Chief.  We have been working him over for the last six years and he has not gotten any nicer.  You don't suppose we need to do it for nine years, do you?

Hockey season is over for us in Columbus. I'm just glad I'm not a New Jersey Nets fan. How can a team only win six games and loose 54?

Working outside tomorrow.  I'll be dead tired tomorrow night.

How can hockey be over if the Blackhawks are still playing?  Steve, Decatur is a nice burg - but definitely different from NJ. Didn't do anything I planned on today - hung out with the bride... re-arranged some wires on the new 'old tv' - ha, it still works - with a 4 button switch so the fam can choose what to do - play a game, use the dvd player, watch tv, etc. ... Took the youngest to the dollar store for a toy to recognize an accomplishment - the toy literally lasted until we got to the car then fell apart. Back we went. LOL. Boy, it looks cold in FL. Daughter (and boyfriend) almost here for Spring break.  Jack, can't Steve write off every job relo expense on income tax? It's certainly a far-enough move. Don't worry, NavyJack, the Chicago gun ordnance is redundant anyway.

Evening and good night all.  Busy day.  Got stormdoor from Lowe's.  Went by Lowes later to get some extra keys made.  They can't cut them.  No blanks.  Then they say you can only get them from Larson.  They would call Larson and get them.  I told them I would call.  Called Larson and found out any Locksmith has them and can cut.  I have had several conversations with Lowes since I found that out.  I will not go into them.  Anyway, got extras from locksmith.  Now beautiful storm door on the back.  Replaces one over 18 years old.  OH, their favorite line, "I did not know any one locked those doors anyway."  My reply to all of them, "Why do you buy a door with a keyed deadbolt them?"  I think "stupid is as stupid does" and Forest is smarter than any Lowes manager.  Its that "influx" of Yankees moving South and finding jobs at Lowes.

Been doing a lot of dozing.  One thing, the cold meds will make you sleep.  Sure was a pretty day here.  Real warm.  Suppose to get even warmer every day through Monday.

Back to snoozing.  Can rest.  Yankees to busy cleaning up from snow storms, floods and winds tha the Chief and Mother Nature cooked up for them.  Later.

Chief,

I feel you pain with stores like that.  I had a similar experience with a popular electronics store yesterday. I checked online to see if they had any PS2s in stock, and it said they didn't, so I called the store and was told the same thing.  Since I was nearby, I stopped just to check.  Sure enough, there were four on the shelf.Disapprove  I think the cause of our problems are lazy employees IMHO.

I am glad spring break is next week.  I have been loaded down with work, and the time off is needed.  I found a new laser for the PS2, so hopefully I can get it installed next week.  If it works, I'll order a few spares for when the disk read error happens again.  I might get back to work on the layout as well.  With the stress from school, I haven't had the motivation to do any work on it lately.

On a side note, does anyone have any ideas on removing skunk odor from a vehicle?  I crushed one with the sunfire on the way home from work, and it reeks now.Sign - Oops  I had no choice but to hit it because there was another car to my left and a mailbox on the right.  I'd drive the Probe , but I won't have enough time to get it ready for tomorrow morning.  It's been hibernating for the winter.Big Smile

Tardis is ready, beacons are lit and scope looks like a Christmas Tree!  Let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
