 Good Evening,

Chris got home about 6:30 tonight.  Didn't get much information, he ate and was in bed by 7:30.   Said they finished work about midnight last night, then partied till around 4am.  Also said a waitress tried to pick him up, but she was tooo old!  I asked how old, and she was probably 25 !  Probably find more out tomorrow, (maybe).

A friend came over (Vision Bob, the guy that bought all the Vision engines and has the problem children.)  Anyway he had the jet blower and new vision LCD photo slide car.  He had put down a small raidus of tack to test the stuff.      Then everytime he put an engine on with it the engine would die.  So he brought the stuff over.  I believe the fan on the smoke unit is wired backwards, if you left the smoke "fill hole" cover off, smoke would come out of that whole, actually in billows.  No smoke out of any other opening.  Then the engine was a 8380 Southern Pacific, found it has a dead battery was dead.  (Remove power from layout and all sounds go off immediately.)  The photo LCD worked well, and actually he purchased 3 of them!  I will need to show him how to load stuff on the memory card.

Interesting stuff!

Sleep tight.

Jim - Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a great movie - love it!

Don - what a great experience, glad it worked out for him!

Ray SPMAN - so sorry to hear about your friend with ALS.  Is he a Vietnam veteran?  If he served in-country in Vietnam, then this would be a service connected disability and he should get his claim in right away for his wife's sake.

Killed more zombies with my son tonight - good fun :)

Char had a checkup and doc is just amazed at how well she is doing.  I chalk it all up to you guys and the Big Guy Upstairs.  The young man who was in the room next to her at the hospital with the same condition died in treatment.

Tardis is ready to fly, beacons on men!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Don,

That must have been real exciting for Chris to meet Steve Martin.  I was watching Steve Martin and John Candy in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles last night, which is my favorite Steve Martin movie. Welcome to Marathon...LOL.

Ray,

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Rich,

Do you have any experience with rust repair?

I spent the morning removing the instrument cluster from the Probe trying to find why the fuel gauge isn't working.  Nothing on that car is easy.  After fighting with the cluster for an hour to get it out, I couldn't find any issues with the cluster so I'll have to dig deeper.  Hopefully, I won't have to drop the tank.

I intended to work on the layout tonight, but I ran the Flyer 490 instead.  It really moves once it warms up, so much so that I would have probably had a pile up heart attack if it wasn't for Flyer's Deadman Control.

Sunny and low 60's here today.  Last few days have been really nice.  Starting to rain tonight, and forcast is for rain the rest of the week.

Got a project going where I am replacing plaster with drywall.  Amazing what thoes plasterers of old could do to square up a room.  Me - I spent all afternoon shimming studs on an 8' section of wall so the drywall would not have 'wows' in it.  Ended up exercising my table saw and jointer to make the shims, as the kid at the local big box building supply looked at me like I had a third eye in the middle of my forehead when I asked him about drywall shims.  Sucessful afternoon - still have all fingers and thumbs intact!

Have misplaced my Guide to Lionel Trains 1948 to 1969 book. Grumpy  Want to research automated milk cars.  I know I don't want one with coil couplers - but that still leaves lots of choices.

We have a new potential customer scheduled into the plant in the near future.  Man are there politics galore and a frenzy to spit shine the plant.  Gonna be an interesting couple of weeks.

Prayers for those in need.

 All for now.

Good evening guys!  Was a uneventful afternoon.  Went in late as I am on call.  That gave me a morning alone with the bride...which happens on occasion.  Couple of big cases in the morning, but I will still go in a little later.  Have to drop a car off for the service.  Wife has Dr's appointment, so it will be a busy morning anyway.
Chief, did you win it?  Hope so.

Laz, glad you got the addition well under way.  Hope you are able to get it filled soon.  My bride would like to take the back porch and change it to a sun room.  We may do that if we go with a built in pool in the near future...have to see.

Prayers will be said tonight for Char, Chief's Mom, Roy's Sister, Ray's friend, along with my other requests.  I understand a tornado hit in OK.  Our senior pastor is out there preaching at a conference, so will say a prayer for them too.  May each of you have the peace the surpasses understanding.
God Bless,
dennis

Good Afternoon,

Well I guess it's time to drink the orange juice as it's starting to warm up again. Should be near the high 70's by the end of the week, but will it stay?  Weatherman said it's been the second coldest winter in Florida's history(over 110 years)!!

Everything else went up, so why not propane tank rental? Heritage Propane of Jupiter FL now wants $105.20 for tank rental compared to $38.50 for last year. I called them up and told them on the phone either to lower my rental price or come pull your tank NOW!!!SoapBox Very few times do I get really upset like that but they deserved it, 285% increase in my tank rental or almost triple the rent!

Also my Kung-Fu kitty was climbing the walls to get over the top of the rooms upstairs, my wife's first husband didn't finish the walls upstairs, just like everything else he did-he didn't finish it or just Puked it into place! Never seen doors hung at a 12.5% angle to the frame work.

Going to a train show in the last saturday of the month, hopefully I will sell a few things. Also going to do a yardsale the following weekend. Should Know something about the RV being sold in a few days.

Work has been a little slow so I applied for another job today online.

Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski exchange Christmas cards? But of course!Whistling The #12 whined after the crash and said the #99 should have to sit out a race. This crash was just pay back for last year. Crashes and rivalries like this is what buts excitement into NASCAR. Remember Dale Sr.?

As to Dale Jr., I don't think he or his team has what it takes to be top five. Start on the poll and then finish mid field? That has been his story for 2 years now.

Good morning all,

Don, Chris' experience at the Oscars sounds very exiting for him.  He is probably the envy of all his friends.

Chief, don't hurt yourself with all those bags of lime.  Kind of handy having your own shooting range too.

Went to TTOS Southwestern Div. meet in Arcadia, Calif. yesterday.  There were lots of things for sale but mostly postwar and some prewar as well as reproduction pre war.  Unfortunately for me there was not much modern train stuff for sale which is what I run nowadays.  I used to collect prewar and postwar O gauge but have since sold most of it and now am strictly an operator.  I still enjoy going to the meets and meeting people I have known over the years.  I would like to get a MTH Southern Railway PS4 in proto 2 sooner or later.  I have several things I could trade for one if I can find anyone interested.

Speaking of the Oscars, the only stars I knew at the event all lost.  Don't go to movies except rarely anymore and I don't know any of the current crop of actors.  I will probably see all the new movies when they come out on DVD or something.

Just got a call about an old friend of mine all the way back to the 50's..  He has ALS and is not doing too well.  Just heard that he fell out of bed and hurt his shoulder.  His wife is taking care of him 24/7.  I don't suppose he has much longer to live since he has had it for quite some time and it is progressing now paralyzing his muscles.  A mutual friend called me so I will have to call the one who is ill back today and find out more.

Back to my regular amount of walking this morning after weekend rains shortened my walking time.  Doing good on excersise, and medicine but not on diet.  That is my problem area.  I know my doctor is going to give me a bad time next week about gaining weight.

Prayers for all those on the forum who are suffering.

Have a good week all,

Ray

LOL, Carl Edwards is getting a bad boy reputation. Give him a bump and he will put you on your roof. Junior just keeps struggling, not sure if he has what it takes to be a top 5 driver.

Good night all.  Did Shake And Bake Jr. get to sit in the audience?  Did not recognize him on TV.  OH,I was reclinerizing.  Sorry.  Sure hope he did get to sit with all the stars.  Give us an update.

No, he didn't get to sit in the audience, but he was standing to the side.  Said he was less then 10 feet from the stage next to the "first box".  Not sure what that means, whether on the same level, or at a balcony level.  He also said he was backstage and met Steve Martin, Monique, Robin Williams, and Tom Hanks.   He has been there since 7 am Saturday morning, should be home tonight.  Also told us he had his picture taken on the Red Carpet in the tux.  He also said he met a number of super models and beauty pagent winners.  When we talked to him you could just hear the excitment in his voice, he made sure he told me he was at the bar area after the show and was walking around with a martini.  Also, that he was certain they wanted him back next year.  Definetly, a lifetime experience, especially for a 20 year old.

On the train front spent some time yesterday "coloring" railroad ties.  The Gargraves track I used is a light brown, and the sections of Ross are all black.  Looks kinda odd when they are together, switches and curves black, all the straight sections brown.  This is going to be a task, but t really looks a lot better in the areas that are all blackened.

Well better get to work !

Hope everyone has a great Day !!!

Aloha and happy Monday. Foggy and cold today. Looks like it may be productive as no one seems about. They're renovating the ground floor of this building.  Neat to see the original frame (from 1912) before they put in the new 'glass' - used to be Lyttons Department Store.  Still plenty of snow around.  Didn't watch the Oscars. Got a new mystery novel from the library.  Might walk down to the Field Museum today as it's free...

Morning all.  Sunny and real warm.  Friend Fred and I are off to the pond to put lime in [650 lbs] and then work on extending shooting range.  Since it is surrounded with town, we get a few complaints but is well within the legal shooting limits of NC.  The Police tell them it is legal and now no complaints.  BTW: the Police and Sheriff Deputies use it all the time to practice.  Hope all have a great week.  Later.

Morning all.  Had a good night at church and then we went out for Mexican food.  I only ate rice and beans as that is all they had that fits the diet menu.  Bride reminded me that it ends on Thursday, so we are planning on going out for Steak on Friday.  After three weeks of no meat or fish, I can really use some protein.  You can eat nuts on this plan, but it is not the same.

Chuck...BAD DOG!  Tell him to wait until it is all filled out and then pee on it!

Chief, have fun at the shooting range.  I can shoot the 22s around here, but nothing larger as neighbors are too close for that.  Not too long ago, it wasn't this way, but with all the woods being cut for more houses, not enough barrier.  We have a farm nearby I can go to, but just have to make the effort.

I am on call this week, so hopefully will not get beat up too much.  One of the guys who was stuck in Chile during the earthquake finally made it home this weekend.  That should ease the workload a bit.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s.  Finished the LEGO building last night except for the "landscaping".  Drove the truck to work for the first time in quite a while.  Wife stayed up and watched the Oscars last night.  The opening act was a bit weak.  Saturday night we watched a movie for all the roller derby fans (yes, you know who you are), "Whip It".  It had the lady who was in "Juno" as the lead.  It is a riot.  I have not laughed so hard in a long, long time.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  Do you think Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski will exchange Christmas cards?  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Got our Census papers. They threw it on the back porch in a plastic bag. Dog went out and lifted his leg on it. Hope the sun dries it out.

Dining car is here and it's Cheerios for breakfast.

Hello all,

Stopped in mainly to check up on Navyjack's Mrs. Glad to see she's doing better. Prayers will continue.

Had a lazy weekend. Got a little bit of stuff done. I just had no ambition to get moving.  Maybe I'm fighting a bug.

Grand kids are improving but the daughter has it pretty bad now.

870 was the official count at the buffet Friday evening

Nite all, I'm off to bed

Prayers for all who may need them
