What a weekend!  Number 2 son is now married and everything went great, had family from both coast's fly in (EVEN nort caroliner) and we just had a fantastic time.  We had a hospitality suite next to our room and we just had a wonderful time visiting with everyone before and after the wedding.  We went up to MPLS on Thursday and I'm glad we did, we had everything set up so we could just relax and enjoy everyone when they arrived.  We got home last night tired and happy, I've been busy this morning doing laundry and hitting the Y for a hard work out, fortunately I was able to work out at the hotel every day except yesterday.

Sadly I see that the Hawkeye's lost a nail biter on Saturday.  I'm actually surprised the score was that close as they were using a red shirt freshmen at quarter back.  Oh well, at least I won't have to see them embarassed at the Rose Bowl, seems like the Big 10 struggles at that bowl.  The bigger news, however, is that the #1 high school basketball player in the country, from Ames, Iowa signed a NC letter of intent to play BB there next year.  Remember this name, Harrison Barnes, he's an incredible kid with athletic skills and brains that surpass mere mortals.  He picked out NC because of it's business school and BB program, he plans to graduate in 3 years, he's that kind of kid.

Getting ready to head west to Sandy Eggo, the boss has clients out there that she visit's three to four times a year and this time I actually have no conflicts so I'm tagging along.  We are both very tired after this weekend but that's the way it goes, I haven't been in SD since 1984 and we are really looking forward to relaxing after she is done with her work on Thursday.  We hope to hook up with Doug to see his museum and possibly Don B.

Need to keep moving before I fall asleep in this chair!

Jon

Spanky,

              Prayers for your dad.

I will be posting photos in this week's thread as soon as they are done uploading.  I have put work on the layout on hold due to the Flyer addiction.Big Smile You just don't realize how great Flyer is until you start to get into it.

Good Morning, back in Paradise....Banged Head

Spank – Angel for your Dad and for Chief, who is trying to outdo Burt Reynolds..

Mom is doing well with her cast – just can’t stop her – ball o’fire.

Went to Newark to see the NEW arena and my DEVILS, who crushed the Ducks.  I made an appearance on the ice to shoot for a new car.  Missed the net on the first shot, but hit the net on the second – but not in that tiny hole they had.  Nice facility – was duly impressed.  Was escorted on the ice by a nice young Devils Dancer from Long Island, and a good time was had by all.

The weather was wonderful Monday & Tuesday, was in a T-Shirt in NYC Monday for the NYU tour.  We rode NJ Transit; those new Bombardier double decker coaches are really nice.  An AMD (toaster) was pulling one and on the return I think it was an HHP.  The Princess wants to go there, and we lined up the information needed.  Looks interesting, just need her to get on board for the homework and it should work.  1.5 years left to make it happen.

Left Saturday at 1100 AM got back at 0155 AM Sunday – 15 hours and I drove 13 of ‘em, so I’m still jet lagged a bit.

Desk full of paperwork, just cleared out my “INBOX”, so I still have more to do.

OK much to do so little time – will check back later!

Good morning all (again),

Prayers for your dad, Spanky.  Impressive mileage on that boxcar, Doug.  Dennis, make sure one of the dads is a soocer coach! :-)  That will add realism to the movie.  RT, thank you for letting me know I was not the only "bit" this weekend with the forum sign-on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha from a grey and cold Chicago. Looking forward to the 'Courageous' movie, Dennis. Heard all about it on the radio this morn. Doesn't look like a busy day here fortunately. Prayers for your dad, Spanky.

DJSpanky

Mornin' all!

My last post for a while.  Got the news late yesterday that my dad did a header down the stairs and is in ICU at St. Joe's in Paterson.  I'm heading out later today to return to NJ and help out my mom for the week, but I won't have internet access up there.  Too bad - I have some more pics to add to my viaduct thread.  They'll have to wait. Tyler's very upset with me leaving - he came down 3 times int he middle of the night last night.

I hope everyone has a good week.

The best for your dad. Have a safe trip and we look forward to your return.

Good morning

Overcast and wind feels cold.

I will be leaving soon with train buddy for breakfast and a trip to the train store. They broke up some Lionel NYC Flyer sets and they are holding an 0-8-0 for me. Thats the better one with more side rod action and train sounds. Enjoy your monday...S.J.

Morning all.  Dropped off our son at school and in a short while, the daughter's turn.  Have to bring the wife's van in for service as we will be heading to HotLanta next week for "Thanksgiving" dinner with in laws.  I am on call for the big day, so we will do it a week early.

Regarding the movie, it is the story of three P.O.s who strive to be real men and real fathers to their kids.  Lots of twists.  I am not sure that we will have any train related scenes, but I will try to get one in there.

Have some things I have to get taken care of on the Honey Do list.  Perhaps a little layout therapy is in order.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and will be rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  Sorry I was MIA this weekend, but I could not sign on to the forum form the home PC.  It was a busy weekend as well.  The "saucy wench" and I went to Chili's Friday night for a nice supper and then watched "Numb3rs", which was good as always.  Saturday was extra busy.  I cleaned up the loft in the barn (longer than I expected), swept out three of the vehicles, washed and waxed the truck, and worked on the leaves with the "saucy wench" and Lucas.  We only have two trees with leaves on them and maybe with a little luck, they will blow somewhere else.  If not, there is not that much left anyway.  Also, the chief of police came to our house Saturday to put up some fans in the back room for us.  As he puts it, he won't be police chief forever and he has done lots of work for us in the past.   Saturday night we were going to go to the movies, but Lucas said he would rather stay home and visit with us, which was also fine.  I smoked 'em at Yahtze.  Sunday all three of us went to Mass, and then visited with my dad.  He showed us various family heirlooms he had stored in his foot locker.  Lucas and I put up the outside Christmas lights since the weather was so nice.  Then I rested.  We played some UNO before Lucas left and then watched "Desperate Housewives".  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  Chief......ouch!   Dennis, movie sounds interesting.  TBIL, and I can drive as I missed the rotation Saturday and Sunday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening

Chief that is the exact formula we use for pot hole mix only without the butter.

Really lazed today, spent the morning chatting with Brutus and the afternoon watching TV. I did take a nap while the Lions were losing. I won't mention that Bugs Bunny and Daffy were on all afternoon too. Hardly ever see them anymore. Much better than the junky stuff shown these days. Still have banilla for the thingy so come on by...S.J.

Howdy guys -- good luck Rich, hope something works out for you Thumbs Up

Well, today I didn't do anything really - just lazed around watching a movie (UP!) with the kids, then some other shows, played some videogames, played a board game, and watched The Real Ghostbusters with the kids too.  We played Empire Builder, which is a board game, kinda like monopoly with trains - it was pretty fun and took about 3 hours for 2 people, but we were looking up the rules a lot this time.  I'll give it two Thumbs Up

Tardis is ready and I see a lot of guys on the scope, so let's hit it Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Was quite the evening service tonight.  Had a bunch of media folks to hear the news about the next movie.  Will be right up Fife's alley...Cops.  I will fill in the details tomorrow.  Been reading the latest OGR.  I am currently reading the reviews on the Lionel SD70.  While I am trying to keep things in the late 40s and early 50s, but may have to add some modern power to my stable.

Rich, thanks for the thoughts.  Was a nice send off for mom.  So many folks were there, I could hardly spend any time with anyone.  Mom was very involved and much loved.

Well, time for bed.  I hope that everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Dennis

Aloha and good evening. A very busy day. The youngest was singing in three services and I was volunteered to stay with him from 730 am through 2 pm. I had to run the dog over to get shots between all this. Then babysat our pastor's four kids (age 1 - 7) for three hours tonight. I feel a good tired. Glad you're OK, Chief!  Harold, the bride says the garage looks 'better' - the paint still doesn't match but I'm done for the season. LOL. Now, watching Desperate Housewives with the bride...
