Evening all
Pretty busy day. Got the hair cut. Started taking the layout down. Jim, your words keep going through my mind about the rebuild will be better made it not quite as sad. Preached the homily at Mass came home and youngest daughter in from Cincinnati. She took the grandkids to the orchard and got apples and pumpkins. We carved pumpkins. Lots of fun.
May God bless
Jim
Back from Raleigh and the haunted trolley ride and the haunted Mordici/Joel Lane House. Wifey wanted to go to it. Was not that bad [or good either]. Wifey had some of her family over for hot dogs before we went. Got there and they were giving free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks. Wifey had not done her homework on this event.
Now for some halloween cup cakes. Later
God bless TCA 05-58541 Benefactor Member of the NRA, Member of the American Legion, Retired Boss Hog of Roseyville , KC&D Qualified

DENNIS, nets got on, but wish herron or something would come buy and eat half these fish, I have about 500 of em.
SIR JAMES,how'd you hit em? Maybe I should play that game because out on the GOLF course I STINK!
RAY, at YORK they have a UPS station set up inside between the Silver Hall and Blue Hall.

Good Evening
Stayed cloudy and windy, 48 for most of the day.
Ran some trains and watched some football, that was my day. Oh no it wasn't, played PS2 golf and read CTT.

Good evening all,
It started off cloudy but ended up as IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s. Spent the day helping the "saucy wench" move stuff back into back bedroom. Lots of leaves down. May work on them tomorrow if it is dry. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast. TBIL, and I am ready to pickup those travelers from the home area of the Tardis. Condolences on Frankie's pet. It is tough to lose them. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Chief,
Sorry to hear about Frankie's dog. We had to put our first dog down after 16 years, and that was very rough.
I spent last night installing link couplers on some of the AF. I did two 650s, a 651, and the red 718 mail car that I have had apart since last December.
Chief, sorry to hear about Frankies dog. That's tough losing two like that in a short time.
Good afternoon all, just back from the October TCA train meet. It was a dud. Only about three sellers and not many attending until later in the meeting. Layout guy did not show up either so no trains running today. I guess everyone is getting ready for the big Cal Stewart meet next month and saving everything for that. I did win a door prize today though. Got a C&O K Line box car. It's 027 size but if I don't trade it or give it away, I can always use the sprung die cast trucks that came on it. One of our members just got back from York and had his baggage "inspected" apparently. Cut open his carefully packed trains for sale enroute to York with a box cutter or something and spilled some liquid on his clothes as well. Really neat, these guys. I guess you have to ship everything UPS now a days both ways to avoid the airline problems. Ran trains yesterday and discovered some more traction tires missing on my recently repaired MTH E6 units. Ordered more tires from the shop. Rear trucks are not too bad to fix but front trucks reqire a lot of disassembly just to replace a stupid tire. The early MTH models are harder to change tires than the newer ones. Fortunately they made the new ones with screws in the truck frames that you can take out without removing the whole truck.
Have a good evening,
Ray

Hiowdy guys - well, workd 5 hours, picked up a few supplie at Home Depot, and then caught up with a budy to see Zombieland, which we loved, but it sure is gory! Trying to catch up with the wife and kids soon.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Back from the Greenberg train show. Got most of the accessories I needed, and a few flat cars. Looks to me like there is less and less O train stuff at these shows.
Thanks Dennis. There may be some hope for me and my electric guitar. Now if I can learn to play only ONE string with each finger.
Chief, I feel for Frankie and Cathy. We have had a string of 7 dogs over the years we have out lived and have had to put down. That's it, no more. Our twin granddaughters are Vet Tecs. They are very watchful, knowing recovery from an operation can be tricky. It bothers they big time when they loose an animal.
John B, was Don B's neighbor in your dream?
Let's go Brutus. TBIL as usual. No bruskie for John B until he is older.

Hey, it's the sun. Haven't seen it for a while. Took the youngest to the local big-box store to spend the money he's saved. Half-an-hour later, after careful deliberation, he bought five rubber lizards. LoL. Going to run trains for a bit
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Yeah Doug, it is a good sign. Our church is very active in the area youth programs. One of the projects that the movie money has gone to is the creation of a sports park where they have multiple soccer fields, baseball, softball, fishing, tennis, equestrian events, etc. and the usage is over 75% non church affiliated kids. This is one way to get around the ban on prayer at sports games for the kids. They also just purchased a library across from the church for use with the youth.
Pat, my FIL can't read a note of music, but can play piano, guitar, harmonica all by ear. Does a good job and has played along with a number of groups. Good luck.
Laz, a number of friends around here have private ponds with fish in them. Herons, hawks, eagles, and Owls do a number on them too. Hope the nets keep the leaves out as well as any unwanted predators. Some have taken to putting animated predators by the pond to keep others away.
Jim, the city where our hospital is has unemployment near 19%. The other great news is that the administration's finance told congress that the effects we would see from the "stimulus" has already taken place, so don't expect things to get better. They are now looking at a second stimulus so we will all double the $347,000.00 that each of us owes as our part of the debt. I'll get off my soap box.

Afternoon all. Back from the lake. Great trip last night. Strange though. Did NOT see a single deer????? Once you get past Townsville [about three miles away], they are usually everywhere. Hiding from hunters I guess. None at Ponderosa. Had to go in and visit with couple when Lucy and I got his "MRS." home from airport [she had flown to Germany for BIL's funeral]. Worked out good. Got to RDU about ten minutes before she came down the elevator [she was in wheel chair due to back problems]. Rolled her luggage to the 4Runner and Lucy and I picked her up at the front door of terminal. Saved her hubby a trip to Raleigh and back.
Latest word on Frankie's dog. Vet says he was right there watching dog in the same surgery room they were operating on another one. Cathy [oldest] went to Vets to meet Frankie. Said Vet had tears in his eyes. Sent to NCSU Vet School. They are not finished but seem to think he might have had a blood clot that went to a vein or artery in chest cavity or somewhere as he had a lot of blood in there. Think it ruptured the vien or artery and he bled out. Thanks for all of the kind words. Two dogs in two years to die. Tough as they were their children [they do not have any kids].
Off to Raleigh for a Haunted Trolley ride after I cook hotdogs for a bunch of folks.
Found a big flat 3 X 4 dolley with 4 big rubber wheels at the cable entance to pond. Someone had thrown it over to the side and it did not make the creek part of the pond. Hit a big oak tree right at cable. PD has it now. Jones gang at work I bet.
Later.
Robinsons Elixir, left me with severe bibulosity-again.
Dreamed I was in Tardis, woke up in a strange bed somewhere in outer ClecHuddersFax with a sheep blowing in my ear.
Brutus needs navigation lessons methinks..
John Baker
Sorry to hear about frankies dog chief know it must really hurt.
Not to much going on today I'm at work about to goto lunch. Rainy here so good day to be working
Talk to you all later

Good Morning
48 and very gloomy this morning.
A nice long chat with Brutus last nite, being friday no one else dropped by. No plans for me today except football and whatever else comes along. Granny is cleaning the fridge I may have leftover suprise for supper. I already noticed a few things going in the garbage bag. At least I won't be fed those. A small breakfast to get me to lunch. Enjoy your saturday..S.J.
Morning all from overcast Southern Ohio
Got to get a haircut today. It is way too long maybe an inch long, that is what is left.
Cheif - So sorry about Frankies dog. That is really sad.
Dennis - Try to tell folks around here the recession is over, yea, right.
Going to get started
HI GYZ, Rainy warm day here. Going to make up bill board for NATTY BO sign, which looks great. Going to put netting over ponds later today if it stops raining? Try to keep leafs out. Stay frosty, laz57

Stay frosty,
Good morning!
Farm chores, paper work and breakfast done, in that order. Grits but no Buckeye biscuits.
Here is a "It never rains but what it Pours" story. Today there is a huge train layout auction not far from me, and a Greenberg train show in Fredericksburg. Can't go tomorrow to the show - prior commitments. Probably go to the train show - I need accessories for the layout.
I did trade two tickets for Sunday night Oak Ridge Boys concert for an electric guitar. I know nothing about playing the guitar, but have the book "Guitar For Dummies". We will see how that works out.
Time to go. Talk to you later.
Everyone's still asleep except you and me, Dennis. LOL. And Jon at his motel. A tough day for a bike - at least here - windy, cold, raining sideways. I appreciate your dedication, Jon! I want a pie of that pie though, Dennis. Or at least the recipe. Thought of that proverb you mentioned when reading the letters-to-the-editor. I loved the holiday stories and the one on the B. Altman's layouts. My mom worked there during that time... I like that sign at your church - probably why we're working with the teen more these days.
A quick good morning as I head off to work .
Special sale today - I wasn't going, but I sold my project car and the guy is coming in from South Carolina. He said he should be here by noon. A little cash infusion right now is a good thing!
for your friend and sister, Dennis and for Frankie and his family (including Sheriff).
Jon - I'm a big fan of motels - My Dad isn't, so I understand.
After the car goes, I'll go pick up the Harley, then I'll be another $250 lighter.
Check ya later!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Wow, minimal activity here so far this weekend. Got called away from the computer last night as kids needed attention. Have another list of honey dos to tackle before company arrives. Have to make a couple of bourbon chocolate pecan pies along with some brownies plus get the kid's toys taken care of. Besides that, wife purchased a crystal bowl for her sister's birthday.....bowl has chips in it and now I have to go find something else to put in the gift box....wonder if she would like something from Lionel? That would certainly get me to achieve room temperature!
Jon, sorry about the digs man. Hope the day goes smoothly for you and that you can get back home in safe order. With all that rain, hope you were not on the bike? Glad people like you invest in the next generation. We have a big sign at our church..."Whoever wants the next generation the most... will get them".
Tis a bit on the chilly side this morning, but I think it is supposed to head up into the 70s here. Plan is that after the honey dos are done, will head to the train room to do some more scenery. I am at the stage where the rails are covered with painter's tape while I put plaster and paint on the mountains. So, can't run anything right now. What a mess. Have to do a little cleaning in there as the room also has one of our bathrooms for the guests.
An early Aloha to all. Bride is going to an all-day conference at church and all our family sports activities have been cancelled due to the rain and standing water, so I guess after a few chores, I suddenly have time for trains. Woo hoo! I'm sure glad to have a job these days, though there were plenty of folks 'out' last night in town. Missed the Tardis run last night. The bride and I had an idea to visit some families in hard times and drop off little gifts.
Went out with family and grabbed some roast beef sandwiches, took kids to bookstore, then to the "salon" for family haircuts. Nice chat with SJ tonight as usual. No world problems solved. I heard that cutbacks at companies are artificially raising profits and hiding the effects of the recession. Something like that. I think we have a long way to go.
Okay, Tardis is ready! Beacons are on the screens and an Old Mill sounds great right now! Tally-Ho! Picking up English again, for some reason he didn't remember us picking him up last night? Bet he didn't remember Don's neighbor either!
Well NO FIRE tonite with wife but did have dogs and burgers on grill with OL MILs. Ran trains for 3 hrs. NO PILE UPs. All ran great love this time o year.
JON, hope all works out for you. We stay in a Super 8 in Pulaski NY during salmon fishing and they are fantastic hosts.
PAPADIESEL, WOW lots o stuff tomorrow. Remember pace yourself.
Very sorry to hear about Frankie's dogs. Even with animals we don't sometime understand. Brings back memories of "Old Shep" by Elvis.
This is the last weekend for the grandchildren's sports. It's going to be wet. Zack's flag football @1000. Josh's socer @1200 on the other side of town. Brandon, Kaylee and Jeremy's (5yr old triplets) soccer @1430.
Everyone have a great weekend !
Good evening
Rain and windy all day, leaves everywhere. 61 right now.
Mich. unemployement rate 15.3 percent. No recovery here yet. All the empty buildings were bad enough now it's empty houses as well.
greenJim, the cars you see are from the 1990 service station set. Its easy to tell the difference, they do not have the two ventilators on top, also do not have a metal frame. I do have a like new set of PW, but they are in their boxes when not on display. Almost time for the thingy so I shall get the banilla ready. TTFN...S.J.
Tough situation Chief, sorry to hear that news, I assume the vet will eat the bill.
I'm sitting in a Super 8 a long way from home, it's not so super. Big day for me tomorrow so need to hit the hay early, have I ever told you how much I hate motels? It's all part of the package, maybe I'm getting to old for this .... drove through 3 hours of rain and strong winds, yuck. Having the laptop does help
Hope everyone has a good weekend, I get home very late tomorrow night and will enjoy a nice quiet sleep, hope the deer stay in the ditches.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Chief... Sorry to hear about Frankie's dog. That's a shame.
I feel the Vet should have monitored the dog's condition better.
Chuck
Good evening everyone. Well, the pundits are saying the recession is over Guess it is time to party? Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. Good news regarding the friend who had a cerebral aneurysm, he is much improved, but will have some recovery/rehab to go through. He is an attorney, so I am sure that they will make sure his faculties are in good shape before he handles cases on his own. Part of a small law firm in which his dad is the top dog. Still waiting on information regarding my sister.
Doug, did see that little quip in the new CTT. I did laugh. Reminds me of the adage about folks thinking someone is a fool, until they speak and prove it. Lots of nice photos in the photo section. Seems that folks at CTT have been listening as remember last year, lots of questions about no coverage for Christmas layouts. Still have plenty of magazine to get through. However, will have to wait till the kids finish violin lessons tonight.
Been battling a pending illness. Was chilled most of the night and woke this morning absolutely freezing. Had to go in for an early heart and split the time between sweating and freezing. Finished case, came home and was given a list of honey dos as bride's mother and sister and associated families are coming this weekend. If I thought it would work, I'd start "oinking" so that everyone would stay away. Oh well, grin and bear it!
Sad news about the little 7 year old from Florida. Also, upsetting news about the North West flight that skipped the airport by 150 miles....now they are saying that the pilots are also flight instructors. Hope that everyone has a great night.God Bless,Dennis
PS: Chief, please pass along condolences to Frank. Sad that he has lost two dogs so close.
Chief people in the northeast are so used to getting hosed on the price of everything a southern house even at twice the price probably looks like a deal. You might get two of my kids to whistle dixie but my 8 year suffers from what is known as the Brown Stubborness. She makes me look like a pacifist.Anyway it seems Rhode Islanders dont fit in to well down there because they move back within a few years.Cant get used to people using manners and such I guess.
