Jim- Andy had first trick on 765 from Owosso, Alma to Cadillac. Rich came on after the engines were turned. I think I just missed him.

GOOD EVENING
Weather stayed ok, boys actually showed up and now the boat is in it's winter spot. Patio is the best place, it's on cement and out of the way. I can't do it alone as it has to be taken across the lawn and into the back.
Banilla is waiting for Brutus and the thingy. Monday is near...S.J.

Good Evening everyone!
Was a relatively good day. All up early and went to church. Very good sermon and Sunday school was great too. It is neat to see the changed lives of some folks. Also got to tour the new bus that the church bought for bringing the seniors on special trips. It is very nice and should make the trips very comfortable...they deserve it.
Came home to some bad news. A friend of our family's father died. He was killed in a accident in West Palm Beach, FL. Guy was a great person. He was a Olympic swimmer many moons ago and even taught me to swim. He also had a collection of Hudsons that he treated like much loved kids. I lived with the family while doing some of my internship in Florida.
Don, I think I would have gone over that guys head a bit and found out if they could make an exception. Certainly was unusual circumstances and besides, Never take a "NO" from someone who couldn't give you a "Yes" anyway. It is not like you use that excuse to take advantage, you really had a legitimate need. What would happen to someone who was in frail health and they made them do multiple loads/unloads?
Well, have a big case in the morning. Heading off to bed. Before I go though, Rich, isn't Florida just a bunch of New York/New Jersey folks who took over the area? For some reason, I think I heard that you can be from the north and still not abdicate your Yankee heritage while living in FLorida.
God Bless,Dennis

My Flyer addiction seems to be getting worse. I won a set of two green 650 New Haven passenger cars along with the matching 651 baggage car tonight for $56. I think our buddy Sturgeon Phish will be getting a bill from me. With him on vacation, I might just be able to quit buying Flyer for a while.
Chief,
Let's say that there is this guy in Ohio that causes me to kill my checking account due to the pics of his layout and collection. What should I do?
Welcome back Tim. Where in NC?

Hello everyone,
Haven't posted anything in a while, seems like spring and summer just fly by anymore.... never seem to get caught up with projects around the house and yard. Bob (my son) is "unfurloughed" from Norfolk Southern again, and been getting out pretty frequently. Mostly he works at Lambert's Point; coal seems to be a hot export item again lately. Wonder if that means anything for the economy? Last night he worked the South Branch switcher, something different for a change of pace.
Spent most of the summer on the road. (maybe that's why I can't get caught up) Worked in Egypt for three weeks, then Mobile, Pascagoula, New Orleans and LA. Now the weather is cooling off and I have a trip to Alaska scheduled. Oh well, wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it.
Going to miss York again this year. I need to make an action item list: 1. Join TCA. 2. Get there. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Never seem to get it done. Anyway, I'm driving up to Michigan to get mom, and then bringing her down to spend the winter in North Carolina, so couldn't have made it this year anyway. Michigan winters are too much for her anymore.
Everyone have a nice evening, and happy training.
Tim
anjdevil2 ChiefEagles Yep, those Yankees brag all the time but where do they end up??? Down SOUTH. The more the merrier. We convert their kids to SOUTHERNERS and thus stop that line of Yankees. Have a great day. That's kinda funny, my daughter, who has lived here most of her life says to me, today, that's she a Jersey Girl through and through...from the mouths of babes....

She is already converting [just has not realized it]. Will marry a Southern boy and all your Grandkids will be REBS.
Kurt, that is great for the kids [and parents too]. Gives them an appreciation for those workers.
Watching I Love Lucy marithon on Halmark Channel. Just don't make them like that anymore. Later
Evening all!
Charlie: Great photos!
Doug: Car arrived! Thank you!
Fire Dept open house was great! Rained a bit when we got there...but it cleared up. 4-yo was able to run a reduced pressure 1-3/4" line, walk into the medivac helicopter, and sit in all the trucks, including 4-engines, 2-ladder trucks, an ambulance, and 2-rescue trucks. They asked her if she wanted to go in, and opened them up just for her. The Firemen and Firewoman were more than accommodating. A group of 6 pitched in and bought their own leather topped helmets to use at the fires. Most memorable was the plastic badge!

Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Did nothing today but entertain wife's sister and husband. Did get rid of last of their stuff they were storing at our place. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East". TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

GO GREEN
That is what I like about college ball. Anything can happen on any given day.
Morning. Got in late last night and was I beat. Worked hard yesterday. Took pontoon boat out and washed it with acid to remove the brown scum that builds up by sitting in the water all summer. Then rinced it down with lots of water. Trimmed all the trees and hauled off all the limbs. Bought the chainsaw attachment for weedeater. Man, that thing works great for trimming limbs and reaches way up into the tree.
Went to Sunday School and then to the pond for some meditation [ate a Hardees chicken biscuit while there.
Steve W. anjdevil2 Yeah, WHAT accent...we talk normal, it’s YOUSE guys that talk funny... I remember when my father died and my brother Terry and his family came up from NC for the funeral his youngest was talking like OPIE TAYLOR.... The kid never had a chance to have a nj accent. He had been in NC since he was in diapers. My brother on the other hand had also picked up a fairly heavy accent so I think its a Southern Conspiersey (I know I spelled that wrong) to convert all yanks buy any means possible. Now that being said, Iwould move there in a second if I had a job there. Chief......Any jobs in Roseyville????

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a partly sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 68 today.
Today is a relaxing day. I plan on watching the Nascar race and the last Indians game. They will get an entirely new coaching staff and manager in 2010.
I hope the new Trainmaster arrives tomorrow.
Dining car was here and we had the usual Cheerios breakfast with a blueberryhill muffin .
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Mornin' guys---
Looks like mostly cloudy today - I have no idea what the weathers gonna be like - yet.
Had a good day at the train show, made a few bucks for me a lot for the Train Works.
Giants-Chiefs later, Devils lose the home opener, Yanks drop another to the Rays.
Hoem & Patio show downtown, got a personal invite from a former customer (a TCA member) and found out there is a TCA meet here in JAX in 2010. Might have to join up....
Jon - Biketoberfest Oct 15-19 if the Harley is done...
That's all from paradise, will check in later
Good Morning
Charlie, great pictures.
Repeat weather, overcast and rainy. I am going to move the boat through the yard and onto the patio today IF the boys show up to help. Looks like the Det, Tigers are in a tailspin to nowhere. They sure blew lots of chances to reach the playoffs. Grannys in church so I must rummage through the dining car for breakfast. Enjoy your sunday...S.J.
Morning all!
Jon: Glad he was ok. Bike bargains here too. Some are selling higher than the craigslist-ed prices.
Sad day for the Wolverines...great game at the end but they still lost to MI State...again. Taking 4-yo to local Fire Station open house! Maybe some trains...neighbor 3-yo is usually at his grandma's next door, and everyone usually gravitates over to our house.
Brutus: Beacon is on!
Mornin' boys. Mornin' Englsih. Sunny & 54 on a crisp autumn morning here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Already started the laundry. Setting sail at 1100 with my work partner and our two youngest princesses (rained out last Sunday). Shouldn't be out too long, so won't miss too much of the RAVENS/PATRIOTS match. Secondary has got to watch the dink-n-dunk passes. I believe New England's secondary is gonna have a harder task.
I believe a field goal will decide this one...RAVENS 24 - PATRIOTS 23
Sunny and high 70´s here in Spain today. Had one heck of a rainstorm here two days ago. Probably two or three inches in a couple of hours.
The correct steel finally arrived Friday, so the work we did on Saturday was finally making ´real´parts. I´m now about where I needed to be in this project about last Tuesday. My one week trip to Spain has now turned into two weeks, which runs right into the return trip I had planned, so I´ll be here for a total of three weeks. Only packed for one. Fortunately, the hotel has laundry service.
The typical work and meal schedule is getting to me. Work runs from 8am to 1pm, two hour lunch (big lunch salad, two courses of food, dessert), back to work until about 6pm. Early dinner is at 8pm, typical dinner starts at 9pm. I´ve been getting back to my room about 11pm after just finishing a rather substantial meal.
Interesting hotel I´m at. It appears to be family owned. Four floors, open atrium, large grounds with gardens. Their horse joined me for a bit on my walk around the grounds this morning. Gave up when I did not have any goodies for him. On display in the lobby are a model T, a Rolls Royce, two Hispano Suizas, and a Mercedes 230SL. The Rolls Royce was missing today. Looks like it might have been taken out for a ride.
Fife - whitewater sailing? Cool.
Welcome to the new guys, prayers for those who need them.
Like I´ve said before, up Nawth, grits is the grading system for how rough the sandpaper is.
Later, all.
Don, sorry you had so much trouble hauling stuff to your next show. I just love people like the guy who would not let you bring the extra truck in under the circumstances. He was truly a no brainer. I suppose those kind of people don't get paid to think.
Brutus, good luck with the insurance for your wife's procedure.
Any of you guys ever taken the shell off of a MTH Premier Y6B steam engine? I need some advice on how to do it. The instruction sheet does not show body mount screw locations. I need to tighten up some pick up roller assemblys and have to get the shell off to get at the screw heads This is an articulated engine with two engines under one boiler which are connected with some kind of teather. I would like to leave all the running gear all together if that is possible and just take the shell off. I don't want to take anything not necessary apart
Thanks, Ray

Great pics Charlie! Sorry I missed you, thought you were up north? Nice chats with SJ today. Went out to lunch with friends, then a little shopping, then pizza and cake at a friend's birthday party. Sleep number bed has been losing air. We got a new pump, because it appears the mattress is okay and besides, one of the controllers wasn't working. Well, it was still losing air over time. I tried a little plumber's tape, but that didn't help. A little more fiddling around revealed an o-ring is involved. I took it up to Ace Hardware and got 2 replacements - one looks the same size and the other is the same interior diameter, but a little fatter. I'm hoping the same-size one works
Bruce - glad to hear you are sticking with your nutrition/plan! I need to get back on a diet. I eat too much when I am stressed and that's been a lot this year. Clothes are getting tight!
Ray - my wife is doing pretty well. We are just waiting for a go from the insurance on her sister's physical examination to show she is healthy and then things will move very quickly - suspense!
TARDIS is ready so let's hit the road!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
The Berkshires were looking good in Northern Michigan today :)
SJ here is Bella's reaction to all the noise
Grits???? Is that the little rocks feed to chickens to help digest chicken feed? Or is it the stuff on sandpaper?
Seriously grits are ok if you northern them up with a little bit of milk in the morning, or cheese for dinner.
Doc and nutrionist told me no more Greenbeans with potatos and salt pork.
BanksBeen hearing so much about GRITS I decided to try them. Bought a box today. GRITS for breakfast tomorrow. I'll definitely give you my opinion next time.
Banks, I suggest you sell the farm before getting into them grits. Or did you have some driveway repair that was necessary? A whole box ?? Things will certainly tighten up in PA. !!
Had a interesting day today spent most of the day moving product from one vehicle to another. It all started last night, the van was all loaded and ready to go. Chris came in about 8:30 and said Dad got some very bad news, the van's got a flat tire. Great !! Have to be at the show location at 5:30 am., tried to find somewhere that could fix a flat, and of course no luck. Put the "toy" tire on, and decided to take the majority of the load off and use the El Camino. But it would not all fit. Therefore would take both vehicles, and leave one at the show and just off load the stuff then go and get a new tire. So I did find a place that opened at 7:30, and only about 3 miles away from show location. However got to the show, and they would not let us bring an extra vehicle in to unload. (Swap Meet). Stacked all the stuff on the El Camino, (looked like we were from Tobacco Road). Got in unloaded, set up the booth, then went a got the tire changed. On my return asked if I could bring the van in for loading after the show. Yes, but ONLY can bring it in 1 hour after the show closed. UGH !! Not good at all !! So we loaded everything back into the El Camino, then drove out to the parking lot and unloaded it all into the van. So ended up handling everything about 3x extra. AND tomorrow has a forecast for rain!! Fun weekend !
Definitely can tell fall is here, cooled down significantly. Guess you guys better hurry up and get those last seaonal rides in before its too late. Also you all got to start thinking about all the winterizing, did our's last night. (Moved the garden hose from the front yard to the backyard.)
Going to turn in early tonight, so hope everyone has a great Sunday. (Oh, all you PA guys should consider starting a phone chain or something, I think Banks is going to be need a lot of help.)
Not a great outdoor day, sun and rain.
But we have football. Waiting for Brutus and the Tardis, banilla ready.
S.J.
Good evening everyone. Had a nice day as I finished rounds early, came home, worked on layout for awhile. finished wiring some operating tracks and running the remotes to the control panel. I also was able to start some scenery with building a double tunnel set up. Still have plenty to do, but it was fun. Had my son helping and had a Southern Mikado making the rounds...no pile ups either.
Watching "Mythbusters" for a little while and will be heading to bed. Have to finish my "homework" for a class we are taking with church tomorrow. And I thought homework was delegated to the kids?
dennis
It was an interesting day, both soccer wise and weather wise. Started off sunny in SE Indiana and then got cloudy. Sortof like the soccer. "My" soccer girls finally had a breakout game with a 6-0 blowout, but lost one of their best players for the rest of the season with a possible ACL tear. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I hustled back to catch some of the boys (it was their senior day) and they lost to a mediocre team 3-0 ( I thought you were supposed to WIN one for the seniors, hmmmm...). I reffed a meaningless youth game after that between the two local teams, and it was pretty obvious neither one cared to be there. The play was pretty listless in a 4-1 contest.
Watched "Dollhouse" and "Numb3rs" last night. Both were good. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending on to "Points East". TBIL for whenever the pickup time is. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning all, Beautiful day here in Southern California.. Much cooler today. Overnight low was in the 50's. Took a long walk this morning and had to wear a sweat shirt for the first time this fall. We went out for breakfast after that and pigged out on ham, eggs, pancakes, potatoes, toast, coffee, sorry Chief, no grits. They did'nt have any otherwise I would have had them too. Can't eat like that very often. Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow. TTOS Southwestern meet tomorrow in Arcadia. Last regualar meet before the big Cal Stewart meet in November. Getting ready to run some trains now. I like to take my Williams scale Tuscan red GG1 and put about 8 tuscan cars behind her both heavy weight (scale Walthers) and steamline (MTH) and let er rip. Looks good speeding down the track. I sold my MTH Premier K4 a while back. It was proto 1 but I should have kept it and upgraded to proto 2. I practically gave it away. A $1000 engine for about $350. I must have been nuts but that is about all they would bring at the time. Think I will just run the heck out of what I have left and keep them. Read a comment somewhere from a dealer that the used train market is really down. I'm sure that's no secret to people trying to sell. Too much new stuff coming out all the time and new technology eclipsing the older stuff. I also took a bath on a premier proto 1 Southern PS4. Wish I had that one back too. Hindsight is 20/20.
Chief, enjoy the lake this week end.
Brutus, hope your wife is doing well these days.
Dennis, bless you for the work you do. Don't know how doctors find time to play.
Dbaker, don't work too hard and find time to run some trains.
Prayers for the sick among us.
Have a nice week end y'all!
Ray
Aloha all. Back from youth soccer in the mud and cold. Looks like it's clearing so may do a few chores outside. Looks like there's a 'girl's night' here with the bride's friends so I'm going out later - when depends on whether the middle boy decides to go to the homecoming dance or not. Serving as video director at church tomorrow - last time for a few months. Maybe I'll get to run trains! I'll look for the TARDIS tonight. Great shot Dennis!
