Getting psychic up by running trains for an hour, pre YORK RUN. All ran great NO PILE UPs! Off to YORK tomorrow at 630, take wife to DENNYs for breakfast then to the meet. Afterwards going to stop at local beer distributor and pick up a case or two of NATTY BO BEER. This is the one sign from MILLER ENG. that I will purchase at YORK. Drank this when going to MILLERSVILLE, bought it for .99 cents a six pack, hey I was in school. Hope WES & BUCKEYE made it home safe out of the snow storms of pA?

Well I spent half the day at the train store, got a short nap and then all of our little family were here for stuff peppers, mashed potatoes, the works. Lucky for me they all disappeared as soon as the kitchen was clean. Love em, but ah the quiet is wonderful too.

It is cloudy, cool and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s. Took the day off and went shopping at Columbus, IN with the "saucy wench". Got stuff for the house. Saw where Menards had some Lionel sets, but that was all. (Same set Bed, Bath, and Beyond had last year). Nothing at Target yet. It was a good day but a long one. We shopped til we dropped. I had waffles and link sausages on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL, but some one else will have to drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

It was a great trip to York this year for Buckeye and me. We got to see John, Roy, Lionroar88, SusieQ, Fife, MartyE, Mitch, and the crew at CTT, We spent all of our money, stayed in a KOA shack, and got waterlogged from all of th rain. It was great! Hope to see everyone next year...
Buckeye and I would like to thank John and Roy for being our tour guides over the past two days. Without them, it would have been tough finding the great deals on all of the stuff that we found. Thanks guys!
PS, make sure you visit the LIonel layout if you get a chance. It's pretty unbelievable.

Chief easy ot tonight I will be sitting on the dock watching a barge while it pumps off a load of gasoline.I work as a terminal operator for an oil company. I dont even know if you can buy grits this far north.Guess I'll stick with oatmeal.
Dad is in the hospital - getting a TEE test. He's not having any symptoms, just something showed up on his monitor at rehab today. They suspect he has a clot somewhere in a heart chamber. He's on blood thinners now too, of course. He's doing great.
TARDIS is ready so let's hit it. Can't go visit Dad, since we have flu in the house. This year really has sucked big time. I hope 2010 is a better year!

Well the subreflector is back in the chamber, but not yet on the telescope. Boss decided to put it on Tuesday. Besides helping hoist that up, spent a lot of time hunting down and organizing hardware. Used to run the fastener section in the hardware store, so I guess I can't stay away from it. After much scrounging found what we needed. Will set some of the guys up on the last of the maintenance work this weekend and then back to town for Medical Monday. Then back on the hill Tues AM. Can we just get back to operation, please!? Although I was just looking at 1615s again on Ebay, so maybe putting off the time in front of a computer is a good thing:)
Just heard one of my co-workers dad is going to York. Sounds like fun. Safe travels to all.

Sunny but cold 32. OK CHIEF send the grits, boiling them for three or four hours will warm the kitchen. Of course I surely would not eat them anyway. Breakfast was eggs, bacon,hash browns and one toast. Small portion,all on a saucer. Got to eat healthy you know. Got a call from York, news from Lionel and weather was cold and rainy yesterday...S.J.

And today's Mid-Atlantic region weather ---> Only thing I picked up yesterday was an MTH dwarf signal (stop it B!). and our own DennisB1's new paperback - REALISTIC MODELING FOR TOY TRAINS, which Dennis signed for me. Had a nice long chat with him, and really hit it off. Spent even more time chattin' it up with Carl Swanson, mostly about some up coming article materials...
Check out the CTT photo on the YORK thread. MartyE gets credit for posting same, and he was the only one who brought a camera. But MISTER Tony Lash was our photographer...howzabout dat? Missing was DMUinCT, whom I later saw at his table. He didn't think we were crazy enuff to take a photo in the rain. It was great seeing Roy, Buckeye, Wes, Marty, Mitchie and John (who was being a trooper---really under the weather). It seems that I look as forward to the fellowship at YORK, as I do the treasure hunt (even more so on second thought). Buckeye even gave us all delicious OHIO ST buckeye candies (which are more tasty than...)

It was reported to a local police officer yesterday that a beige colored boxcar with black roof, having reporting marks of "NC", has apparently gone missing between Ypsilanti,MI and Roger's Corners,OH. Mr. F O'hare, owner of a regional rr line in central Ohio, stated that he was only making this report "for insurance purposes only". Given as a possible cause was a bad set of trucks, that earned this piece of equipment the name "Carolina Crippler", and the car probably fell off into the abiss in some ravine along it's last manifest. No further details.

Had a wonderful trip to York yesterday despite the rain. Met up with Fife, Roy, Wes, JohnF , MartyE and the most hospitable and generous Buckeye Riveter. Buckeye's namesake candies were scrumptious. We spent about 40 minutes chewing the fat and talking about a certain gentlemen who surprised us with GRITS when he visited with us a few years back. We had a great time visiting and like Fifedog, I too look forward to the fellowship as much as the hunt. Too bad that 88, Dennis, JonE, DonB, ChiefEagles and some of the others who have made the trek to York to the CTT CoffeePot Photo couldn't be there.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of things to do in the house. Then, I will run trains for awhile this afternoon. Big Nascar race tonite from NC.
Got a call from Buckeye and Wes. They are on their way home. Finally got out of the snow area. 18 mules are running fast.
Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Now we know why gas prices went so high. Howard had to get his "cut". Ours jumped up $.11 in one day yesterday. Had to pay overtime. A shipment of grits can be arranged.
Good morning. Fair and CHILLY. Hope Jim F's Dad is doing OK. Enough sickness for that "group". Miss Edna is closed for York. Yes, she still closes York week in the spring and fall even though she does not go anymore. I think that her and her husband [deceased] were original "Yorkies". Greenhouse to clean and sanitize today and get ready to move plants in. Low temps close to frost for Monday AM. Then the usual warming to above normal later in the week. Every year during State Fair. Have a good one. Later.
BTW: maybe next spring. If not all the time, the night for the "CTT family" meal and next days photo.
Good morning from the Heartlands where I have just a few minutes to chat. I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading the York reports, it's GREAT! We've only been once but I can't wait to go again, maybe this spring if things work out. It's been a horrible week in my wife's office .... extremely stressful and the next 10 days, well............

Well it's another record temp day in the Phoenix Valley. I think it's to be near 100 again. Ann and I are headed to northern California today for a 4 day stay and a great heat escape.. 50 degrees is gonna be nice. The plane is leaving phoenix at 11:20 and off we go. Happy railroading all...
Brutus Dad is in the hospital - getting a TEE test. He's not having any symptoms, just something showed up on his monitor at rehab today. They suspect he has a clot somewhere in a heart chamber. He's on blood thinners now too, of course. He's doing great.
Brutus, most likely, they saw a rhythm known as Atrial Fibrillation. This happens when the muscle tissue in the upper chambers of the heart are not down regulated and beat very fast. What happens is that they don't eject the blood as efficiently as normal. The TEE (TransEsophageal Echo) is a great way to "see" the heart and it's function. Because the blood doesn't move efficiently, there is a chance of a clot formation. They just want to make sure that no clot is in there, and they have started him on "Blood Thinners", Lovenox/Coumadin/Heparin to stop clots from forming. They can sometimes fix the situation with a procedure called a MAZE Procedure, where they isolate the pulmonary veins as this is often the source of the electrical foci that cause the rapid rate. Just a little information and also a little caution: People on blood thinners tend to bruise very easily. If even pinched, they get a good size purple mark. Also, if anything causes bleeding, it will take a longer time for it to stop. This being the case, even a bloody nose may require a trip to the doctor's office. You and your family have really been taking things on the chin this year. Prayers will continue to be said.
Oh, York, how I wish I were there. Sounds like y'all are having a good time. Right now, it is in the mid 60s and feels great. I think it is supposed to warm up a bit this week. Hear that PA is getting slammed...hope you guys have a safe return to your homes.

Well, had a wedding to attend/be on camera for last night. I left the hospital at 5pm, came home, showered/shaved, got dressed and to the church at 5:30. Was on camera for the whole wedding and just as the bride and groom were finishing their vows, I got paged back to the hospital for an emergency. Another night of not getting to bed till 0200. Had to go back in this morning for rounds and just got home. We are now going out for lunch as I have not had any dinner from last night, nor breakfast this morning. OK, enough of my complaining.....none of this would have happened if I was in YORK!

Thanks guys - Dad had his TEE test this morning and there were no clots, which is great news. My sister called and told me that they shocked his heart and it is back in normal rhythm. They have him on the Lovenox shots twice a day and coumadin, probably if he was on heparin they dc'd that? Anyway, he's going back home today and they will check him in a couple days to see if his blood is thinned enough to stop the shots and just continue on coumadin. They will follow up on treatment at that time. He has CAD with one vessel that is 100 percent blocked and it is a high risk for stenting, so they have been talking about a bypass. He "flunked" cardiac rehab a week ago and they did a bunch of testing last week and he was just cleared to return to rehab and "work" on Thursday, then this happened yesterday afternoon. He's a totally disabled Vietnam Vet due to PTSD and Agent Orange diabetes, neuropathies, etc. But, all things considered he's doing great, in good spirits. I think he just wants to get back to his volunteer work at the VA hospital and back to the shooting range.
This year one sister had an atrial flutter that resolved and she has not had any more problems. My wife was found to have myelofibrosis and we are waiting for a transplant, but her sister is a good donor so we are blessed. One sister had a miscarriage. One kid has the flu. Dad had pneumonia and found to have CAD and got a stent in one vessel. Now he's dealing with this. It sure has been a bad year for our "group", that's for sure. I'm the oldest of 6 kids and so there is a lot of opportunity for bad news in any given year, but this has been pretty ridiculous!
My daughter and I are going to go see Thomas the Tank Engine in Granite City, IL tomorrow morning - our ticket to ride is for 9AM, so we'll have to shoot out of here at about 7 AM I think. Should be fun!
Well, gonna grab some lunch and do some work on the basement - I have a little electrical work to do, maybe some soldering and insulation work too. If the weather clears up as predicted, I will get some more drywall tomorrow and finish the stairway, then maybe start on the bathroom.
Ohhhhh... I get it...fingernail... It's the Tom Brady syndrome.

Greenhouse is sanitized and all plants inside except three big ferns in hanging baskets. They will go in tomorrow PM. Gld to get that job done. Wifey helped and it went fast. She has also learned not to load it with everything. Some things she now gets a "piece of" and then starts it over in the spring.
Off to feed the deer. Fed the fireants down there this afternoon. Entering is on rock and some was blasted leaving nice granite rocks. They love to build under them. Trying to stop them on the hill and keep them away from the pond. They have spred from the school playgrounds. Seems no one treats them there.
Actually in Town Hall office doing some Mayor work. Going home for supper after feeding the deer. Supper will be warm soup.

Back from YORK with wife. Sorry I missed the big PHOTO OP. with YUZ GIZ. Me and wife only went down for today and had a great time. Started off eating breakfast at DENNYs and then wnt to the ORANGE HALL and walked there then went to the PURPLE HALL and walked that then went to BROWN HALL. After doing scope out went to see if we could get any mark offs on goodies. We did great, picked up a NATTY BO sign by Miller Eng., a few beer reefers, a thumb wheel for my DCS, that I dropped. Got a new girl for the BUDDA BING, and a READING RR patch for my hat for working on the LOKIE next summer. Got a great deal on a NS MTH PREMIRE SD70. Then went to local beer distributor and got a case of NATTY BO. Ended the day by taking wife out for dinner. Got home still raining and took dog for walk. Great DAY!!! Now to go play tonite.

Hello all, Back from York yesterday and now have recovered enough to make a post. Probably should not have gone, but I enjoyed it.
Chief, You missed a great YORK, Buckeye had the mule cart loaded with Buckeyes. Very tasty and he was handing them out to one and all. He needed to make room in the mule cart for all the trains he was buying. It turns out that Chuck had sent his Gold Card along for Buckeye to buy trains for him. Think he about cleaned out the Orange Hall, I'm surprised Laz could find anything.
The layout in the Black hall was very nice, unusual configuration for a modular layout.
As Fife mentioned, it was quite a treat to have our photo taken by Tony Lash. We should have asked him to join the group.
It is still raining here, hope we get a break tomorrow, it totaled 2.2" in the rain gauge a few hours ago for the last 4 days.

I spent a big part of the day at #2 son's house. We rotated tires on grannys car and my P/U, then moved his boat to it's winter resting place. Back is sore, Motrin isn't doing the job.
Got the new MTH catalog this afternoon, nothing jumps out and says buy me.
Sorry but rootbeer is the only kind of beer we have. It goes good with banilla. I am ready for Brutus and the thingy so fire it up...S.J.
Good evening all, been reading all the York post from today on this and other forum. Sounds like this one was something less than the usual excitement back there. Bad weather and slow economy was bound to have some effect although people had a good time. I'm glad I did not travel all the way from California with the crummy weather there though. I'm jealous over all you guys that live in Pennsylvania however. It's no big deal for you to pop over to York. Hardly any comment about what is in the new MTH catalog. Must be something in there. I read about some of the PW huge asking prices even though they were nice trains. I'll bet a lot of them went back home. I'm out of the collecting game now so I don't keep up on it. I just buy trains to run now.

I had a bran muffin and a couple of cinnamon twists for breakfast on the dining car before sending it to "Points East". TBIL, and I can drive. Buckeye, you must have mixed emotions today. Chief, sorry I'm not much of a Railfan. The company I work for is doing a project now in the Juniata Shops. There is plenty of eye candy in there. They just rolled out a switcher that is 100% battery powered. Say it can run three shifts without a recharge. If i remember correctly it is going to Enola or Conway.
If I can locate it I'll post a link to the NS webcam on the Horseshoe Curve

Sounds like the guys in York had a good time. Just missing the Moon Pies! Have not had to go in again today...yet, but always on the ready. Had a much needed nap this afternoon. Went and picked up a costume for the son. He is going as Jango Fett. Also had some Sonny's BBQ this afternoon. Did some work on the building we are scratch building. Kids are excited and always willing to help. I did make a little error in the windows, one is slightly off, but I am leaving it as is.
Wife and kids are in bed. I am heading there now. I am on lights tomorrow at church and then, plan on doing rounds at the hospital. Of course, Mexican food for lunch and then finish that building... I hope. I will be lifting Brutus' family in prayer. Hope everyone has a great week ahead.
Up on the roof after a couple of tours today. First time we opened the building in several months. Decided to replace the roof peak seal after all. We stripped all the old stuff off today and hopefully will have time to put in the new seals before a front comes through. It is fairly entertaining work w/ one heckuva view. We are tied off but it is still interesting. Going to delay my trip back to Tucson so we can get this done as it helps to have 3 people. Of course I still have to be back for Medical Monday. I'll try and post some pictures of the process.

Dennis - I think things may actually be a bit worse on the Ca Channel Blocker. I've noticed my BP and heart rate are somewhat higher as well now that I'm off the Atenolol. Will discuss this w/ my doc on Monday of course. Maybe we'll go back to the way it was.
Well off to watch the rest of the Big Boy Collection. One of my favorites. Hope everyone is having a good weekend and safe travels to those returning from York.
