Good evening all,

It finally got sunny late in the day in SE Indiana.  NEWSFLASH!  Team Green and Team Red do NOT win at Watkins Glen.  Justin Wilson, driving for Dale Coyne Racing, won going away as Coyne got their first win in almost 500 races.  John Bakeer should be happy as it was one of his countrymen that won the race.  Very bad day for Foyt racing as they were punted on the first lap of the race.  Princess was 11th.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  Beacon is lit for tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Finally finished all the air returns in the basement - had to redo a piece of drywall that broke last time, then another piece that bowed out due to the spray foam I used to insulate around one of the return boxes - I hadn't screwed the bottom of the piece in place and it just pushed out!  Live and learn, I guess.  Then, I fixed my daughter's bed with a couple brass angles, but my back started hurting so I called it a day.

Thomas project - I thought about putting the tmcc board in one of the passenger cars, but you can see in there.  I guess I could cover them with something there too.  Either way, I will have to decide exactly where to put the tether.  If I come out on a corner, I can avoid the face, but will then go into the opposite corner on Thomas' rear to keep it "in line" between them as much as possible.  Hmmm - decisions decisions....

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Safe to return home again.  Sidney [Wallaby] captured by Roseyville PD.  The dragnet went for several days.  Escapee dodged PD several nights.  Finally captured near Mayor's Mansion.  PD has stood guard over Mayor's garden and especially his prise tomatoes.

Really had fun yesterday entertaining about 20 folks at the lake house and all went on the pontoon boat [the envy of Fifey].  One hour of fireworks at the lake.  Actually diffrent sets going off at the same time.  Frankie ran the jet ski [Roy, I will show you a photo of it and on the side it reads "Jet Ski"] towing everyone in the tube.  Lucy in her life vest swam from float to float visiting.  Me, I ran errands and etc by golfcart.  Then grilled a large number of hotdogs and diced onions Sad.  Today, cleaned up after the crew in the misting rain.  Drove home with two exhausted kids [dogs].  Sat down to a dinner of Eastern NC pork bar-be-que, slaw, boiled potatoes and fresh garden ripen tomatoes.

Now to discuss the CTT sweapstakes.  I never get a call. Disapprove Angry  I see the Yanks won most of the prises.  NC did hold down the fort for the REBS.  One good consoling fact was I did NOT see an OH in the list. Laugh

Now off to bed.  Busy day tomorrow.  County Commissioners and then Town Board.

Glad everyone had a happy and safe 4th.  God bless all.

Greetings All !!

First, BRUTUS, I think you better start mainting a roster or at least a headcount of how many get picked up in the Tardis!  This morning went to get some Chlorine, and there were a couple of strange white pickup trucks in the driveway and out front.  Came back and a couple of hours later the Sheriff was at the house, with lights flashing!  Ended up bringing some older guy out, put in handcuffs and in the back of the car.  After 20 min. or so, got out of the car, finally Sheriff took him away.  All I could see was a white Tshirt, ball cap, and jeans.  Was anyone dressed that way on the Tardis?  I've been trying to look out for you guys, but you gotta get out of there before Sun UP!

We had a great week-end, Chris had a bunch of kids over for a pool party and Bar B Que, and swimming.  All had a good time.

Spent today working in the train room.  Fixing problems, redoing some wiring.  Last week picked up a small 2 cu ft., refrig., perfect for the train room. Immediately had a problem.   Watchdog signal was very intermittent!  Took a while to figure out what the deal was.  But it was all do to changing the manner I power up the layout.  Changed the sequence of Powering up and the problem was gone.

Been fighting with some infra-red sensors, boy are they a pain!  Think I will go back to isolated rail.

Later.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Dbaker48, that could not have been me as all my T-shirts (that I wear) all have soccer themes to them.  Chief, you think you have beef with CTT and their contest?  I am a contributor and do you think I even come close???  :-)   Correction on Dale Coyne's win yestereday.  It was his first in 558 attempts.  That is a long time.  I ran the Alaska set a little last night.  Wife and I watched some old MASH episodes on ION as well.  Shows are 30 years old and still timeless.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East".  Beacon is lit and a roster sheet will be posted so all can be accounted for before the return trip home.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning

Sun is shining 70/80s all week. I got the dishwasher door closed but it's leaking in one corner. Maytag or not I guess it will have to go. I'm not paying a repairman to come and tell me to toss it. Enjoy your Monday...S.J.

Morning guys....

Another glorious 4th has come and gone.  We had a great time at the Landing, I read all 4 of the books I purchased (Command & Control, Benchwork, Layout Plans & I think last months OGR) to pass the 4 hour time frame ‘til the fireworks.  Paid $10 to park DOUBLE what it was last year and if you didn’t have a parking pass (like you came in EARLY), you received an invitation to the Judge’s Chambers for $25.  The parking lady was going to give me a summons, but I showed her the pass clearly visible on the dashboard and said sorry and left.

We got home and the AC was out.  A long HOT night it was.  The AC tech came, replaced a capacitor and by 10 AM Sunday, we had cold air again.  $300 lighter, but chillin’!

Redid the entertainment center Sunday so now I have HD with 5.1 Surround and got the DVD player to work.  Now that the AC is on again, I’ll have to wait for that BluRay I wanted.

Nice dinner of chicken and rice last night.

Was told by SWMBO, that I’m changing rooms, so that the guests will have their own private bath, which means more real estate for the CNJ&S.  Track plans already drawn up and being modified to have a rail yard included.

Good to see you Mel...!!!  Train shows this weekend in Deland and next weekend in Orlando.  Sounds like road trips to me!!!

That’s all the news for now, prayers for all that need ‘em.

Laugh PAT!  You been a bad boy again - that's why we like to make him the designated driver!

Sitting in the recliner with a pillow in my back - haven't hurt it in a while, but this is what it feels like alright.  Advil is helping.  Need to get up and stretch it out again in a little while.  Oh well, wasting a day off.  Might work on Thomas later, if it feels better.  I think I might run extra wires for a possible lantern - could control it with the headlight control in tmcc, which would be cool too - stealing an idea from Doug Wink  Come on Advil....

Buckeye-- do you really want to spend a day at the palatial seaside retreat for Hiz Honer? I would have to think grits were on the menu............ Buckeye, I'm concerned that maybe you've been in the Ohio sun to long?

We survived the open house yesterday just fine, actually enjoyed it and NO PILEUPS! We had about 22 guests and I think everyone really had a good time. These folks treated the layout with more respect than I've seen from our own families, parents were actually being parents!! The interactive button pushing was great fun for the kids, wouldn't mind hosting again. The only damage was done by my wife, pre arrival of company. She was determined to clean every passenger car and dropped a presidential (Lincoln) car on the floor and broke off the corner of the roof. She glued it back on but never told me until I asked about that car after everyone left and she said "oh, I was going to tell you about that but forgot, I'll buy you a new car". Nah, maybe more chrome for the bike would be a better idea :) No response.

Hopefully this week will be quieter and more relaxed. Big Honda rally next week in LaCrosse, WI, can't wait to get on the road again. Wisconsin has some of the best back roads in the USA, the rally actually starts on Thursday afternoon--I may leave Tuesday depending on the weather. Summer is slipping away, can't believe that it's already July 6.

Buckeye--get into the shade and think winter! Now, isn't that better?

Morning all, had quiet day Sunday after 4th festivities  on Saturday.  Wife and I were home alone yesterday so we ate out last night and got shocked after reading calorie and fat content brochure put out by the restaurant.  The waitress volunteered it but I don't think they give out too many of those.  We had a good time swimming and cooking on Saturday.  Youngest son out of town at car race in Monterey.  He's due home tonight and I have to pick him up at the Metrolink station.  Did not run trains yesterday.  Gets too hot in the garage except in the morning.  Missed the Tardis this trip but will catch the next one.

Don, sounds like you are having more excitement with your neighbors.  Pretty quiet over here for the 4th.  Saw one illegal firework go off in the sky near hear.  That was it.  O course in the neighboring town of Azusa where it is legal, it sounded like World War  Three.

Pat, hope you are doing better.

Chief, you're killing me again with those mouth watering descriptions of Bar-B-Que and those home grown tomatoes.

New Hampshire forumite, thanks for the weather report.  We have relatives up your way not too far from Concord.  Love N.H. in the Fall but have'nt been there for a while.

Have a good week, y'all,

Ray

Hey guys..

Something interesting...I went to Hobby Lobby for Lunch today and purchased a manual O-36 switch for $12 and a HO Machine Shop (lighted!) for $14 (it's a big enough scale where I can use it for a trolley garage with a little kit bashing & cutting).

However, this is not the interesting thing....The Christmas Decorations are being put out NOW as we speak.  I was enticed to see the wreaths for 50% off and though about it..then saw the em[ployees putting the rest of the decorations out.  Christmas in July....I did purchase some Shiney Bright hand blown orniments from Universal a few weeks ago...but Hobby Lobby?  WOW...

 Hello all

Just a quick cup. Been like a long tailed cat in a room full o' rockn chairs.

Busy trying to keep the weeds at bay in the garden and making the last of the first cutting hay.

Had a great Fourth with all the family.

My nephew talked me in to painting his truck. Haven't done a vehicle in at least ten years. Worked on getting the garage ready the last couple of days. Even got my '70 El Camino running again. It hasn't been inspected since '03. I'll enjoy driving it on occasion again after I get it inspected.

Not much time for trains in the summer. I try to keep up with the Pot every couple o' days

Bob, keep us posted on your blood pressure / diabetes. Been having some issues myself the last 6 or 8 months

Prayers to all who may need them

Good Evening

We had a beautiful day. But I am Pooped. spent the day working to replace damaged bricks on the house. I had help of course and an electric chisel, more like a small jack hammer. Great tool for that kind of job. I have banilla but someone might have to help me get to the thingy...S.J.

Starting to warm up again here.  Mid 80's today, with 100 forcast for Saturday.

Worked on a plumbing project after I posted yesterday. Promptly dropped the tubing cutter inside the wall, then snagged the end of the hacksaw and dropped the little hook thingy that holds the end of the blade down into the wall too.  Started putting things back together and discovered I had glued the wrong fitting into one of the sub assemblies.  House 3, Bill 0.  Took that as a sign that I should drink a beer on the front porch swing.

It was cool enough last night that I got some train running time.  That was only a little better than the plumbing job.  The old 027 tubular track seperaterated, causing a de-railment.  Also discovered that I need to re-check the clearance between my inner loop and mid loop when the overhang of a GP9 swiped the underhang on a Hogwarts coach and nudged it off of the track.  Back side of the layout, just out of reach tooAngry

On the bright side, my box of doo dads from Train Tender arrived today.  Think I have all the parts I need to start that 'kit bashing' project now.

Later all.

Bill - I feel your pain and salute your solution sir!  I ended up reclinerizing all day here at home with the kids.  Did take a long shower that helped my back a lot though.  One trip out of the house to pick up the family pictures - man, I sure got fat in the past year.  Not sure how that happened.  Need to get back on my diet.  This might be why my back is bothering me again, hasn't bothered me in a couple years - since I lost some weight.   Hmmmmmm......  No trains today, just hanging out with the kids and Chewy.

Mike, I hope you can drive, I am not up for it.  We need help getting SJ, Me and Pat onto the Tardis I think?  Nice talk tonight with RT and SJ!  Hope everyone is a lot better tomorrow!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
