Morning all!
Thanks for the update on the tick bite. The swelling in the bite areas is going down, and the redness is almost gone.
Neighbor flagged me down yesterday, and said his crawl space filled up with water...looks like the transition pipe thru the footing broke, and filled up the crawl space to about 6" of the joists (about 2-feet of water). Had him rent a pump. Pump ran for about 9-hours. Kids had fun in the water. Today he came by for the fans, and de-humidifyer, so I'll be digging over there and helping him get the water back on.
90 degree, and 80% humidity today. Sheesh.
Kurt

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Hot, hot, hot. I practiced an hour with "my" soccer girls and then an hour with the soccer boys, then did weights at the YMCA. Game tonight at 6 PM. Prayers going out to all who need them. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending them to "Points East" and a special "extra" run to "Points West" for Brutus' wife. Tardis was easy to drive last nights as the special modulators were making adjustments and course corrections very quickly last night. Beacon is lit for after the game tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning All
Drove over to the NS Buckeye Yard yesterday, as I posted a couple weeks ago it is being used as an equipment storage area now since its closure. Well now one of the inbound lines is being used to store diesels. Surprisingly, quite a few BNSF in green and pumpkin colors mixed in with the black NS units. Looks like the recession is still causing a reduction in equipment needs.
Suppose to hit 90 and steamy today in Columbus, good day to stay in the basement and work on the layout.

Hmmm - love grilled veggies, esp whole ears of corn in the husk! You can put a charcoal briquette in a foil pain in your gas grill I think, if you want to add that flavor? I know you can add wood chips that way, have to soak them first.
Wife had a transfusion today, two units. She is feeling better. Chief, we need to get these ladies together
Thanks for all the prayers guys.
Well - no train stuff today - waiting for my ERRco card to show up, a train book to show up, and a box of track to show up.
TARDIS is ready and Mike has the con tonight. Patrick, I need some farmer advice - you stopped adding your wise farmer sayings! Come on man, I love that stuff :) I'm full of chinese food and apple pie tonight, but I'll go along for good company :)
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening Folks,
Had a nice weekend. Met son's GF's parents for dinner on Sunday. We went to Old Ebbits Grill and had a great meal. Great food at a reasonable price. Parking was a bit pricey as we parked on our own and missed the $8 valet parking at the restaurant. They soaked us for $20 for 2.5 hours.
Work was super busy today. We had training on Monday that was pretty good and then I have 2.5 more days of training this week. Will not be back to office until Friday after lunch. We are having some major drama with our custodial staff. We will probably have to hire some new people as all of them have applied for transfers.
Thought I was going to be able to hit some trains stores after tomorrow's training but that didn't work out. Have to hit the road by 6;15 so I better get ready for bed.
Take care,
Mitch

Unfortunately or fortunately, I have been very busy at work, so I've not been able to keep up with everything.
Brutus....Prayers and thoughts for your wife. Tell her Buckeye is pulling for her.
After many years, I was on the gun again today. It seems like only yesterday that I learned to set up the survey instruments. I always enjoyed my field surveying time because it was always interesting.

Got a 30% monsoonal thing just a few minutes ago---so we are continuing on apace---a couple of days sun---back to rain--one day sun---more rain next 3 days---
Got the running around for work done so I get a day off tomorrow----will spend it doing the lawn----oh well
ChiefEagles: We have two places--such as they are called PERTH---one is the county of Perth in which the county seat is called Stratford and the PERTH that you might be referring to is one out by the Ottawa Valley region. We are stuck here in the southwestern region of the province----Perth actually---given the way that I drive--is about 6-7 hours northeast of here----I love that area---
Deer ticks are brown with a white spot on their abdomin. Ticks were crazy bad in our yard till I put out some insecticide. The bites will get inflamed because of a reaction to the ticks body fluids. The size you are describing you may want to get them checked.
Prayers for your youngest. A friend of mine hade Lyme diesase, no fun.

Hey guys,
Laz – I can’t get the YouTube deal, but if it was anything like the ride my boss took in Great Britain last year, that’s awesome! Plus the irony that your ancestors may have drove that engine is too cool!!
Alas, my laptop is taking a dump, so I may not be able to post from hope for a while and that means all the youtube stuff from work is verboten.....
Jon – “NEWSFLASH!!!” Ran the John Deere behind my reman’ed GG1 (MTH), I have the stills and video, will try to upload them later today. Also, Monday is H.O.G. Million Mile Monday – I have off and the Sportster still runs (imagine that)
Tuesday is MY day off – may be train related and/or apartment hunting related
for the wifes and the DC fiasco and anyone else I've missed
Wes – I’ll be at Universal Friday and Saturday – but no computer – Have to leave early Sunday am as wife needs to be at work by Noon. Bring your suntan stuff it’s blistering on the face of the sun here.....
Up to 96 30% chance of the thunder and lightning which it did last night. I stood out front just before the rain came and you could feel the temps drop. By 10 PM it was delightful to stand out side, it was just nice.
Check in later!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Quick stop by as we have a full schedule going. Got my Father's Day present yesterday....a JC FM Trainmaster with TMCC. Looks great! Checking over my times, etc, I have to use a good bit of vacation over the next month or so. Perhaps it will be a great time to work on the layout. Want to get some time under the layout and finish the wiring on the yard lead.
Chief, I could go for a Mator sandwich about now! That sounds like a good idea for lunch...hmmm. Anyway, glad things are going well for you and will add your Police Chief's daughter to prayers.

Good Morning
Sunny and 85 today.
Kurt-Vampire bite.
My body is tired today doesn't want to move. I am in slow motion. Breakfast has arrived, smells good so I am out of here. We grill veggies in one of those basket thingys, just about anything...S.J.
Good Morning,
I thought it was hot yesterday and I was right! 101 degrees here in south Florida near West Palm Beach, a small community named Wellington got up to 101 yesterday, Vero Beach FL set a new state record with 102 for the day. Currently having a thunderstorm, wanted to get on before I go out this morning.
On I-95 early monday morning a fuel truck struck a parked car(empty car) in the middle of the roadway on I-95, destroyed both vehicles as the tanker went up in flames. The truck driver got out ok and one of his two dogs with him, the other dog was killed at the scene. It seeems that driving in a major city is hazardous, either rail or roadway.

ChiefEagles Chief of PD's youngest Daughter has Lymes/Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite. Started the big red rash ring around bite.
Chief: I think my youngest may have 2 tick bites on the backs of her upper arms. I can't seem to find any descriptions on what these look like, just Lymes disease photos. We typically don't see this around here. The bites are about round 1" in diameter, hard and starting to scab in the center 3/8". There is not a ring. Does this sound like a Tick? I thought this may have been from a spider but this is different. Thanks.
Will get the kiddie pool and sprinkler out today...another hot one.
Brutus: Prayers for your Bride.
Morning. Going to get hot this week. Getting ready to go to Dr. for blood work. Then some errands. Got Town stuff this evening and then hit the road.
Hey Cylinder, is London ON near Perth? Been there several times.
Prayers for Brutus' wife. Pam needs to give your wife her blood. Pam is still having to give blood to keep her iron count down.
Hope all have a great week.

Good Mornin'
Have sun this morning then the mix of sun/cloud and some more chances of those t'underin' boomers and showers-----humidity is up there I guess----although it don't feel too humid right now---the high will be at 29C with the heat index of around 34C
Got some client visits to do then some work related running around---after that I got to do some looking for a good flatbed scanner for transferring some photos I took when I was a kid of some locos around the Woodstock ON area-------
On the Asparagus side of things I was lucky to have found a grill screen kind of thing that we could use for our BBQ. We just do the basic drizzle of olive oil and seasoning then just toss them on to this screen----the resulting grilling does wonders to them----it only requires a few minutes---
IIABSDISEI with temps near 90. Practiced with "my" soccer girls, mostly goalie work. I did terrible as I could not beat even the slow freshmen in one on one drills. Ouch! Did weights at the YMCA afterward. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast. Beacon is lit. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning fellas!
Well, the family ships out tomorrow for our first major road trip with our 3 year old. Our destination is Orlando for some Disney World and Sea World adventures...first stayover is in Macon, Ga, just south of Atlanta. Jack is very excited to see Mickey Mouse. I got the van almost all ready to go. Packing it up tonight and shipping out bright and early tomorrow morning for some all day driving. We will see how it goes. Wish me luck.
Hope everyone has a good day and gets/stays well.
Wes
Good Morning from beautifl Southern Ohio
Just a quick check in before heading off to work. Work has been very busy and I am spending a lot of home surfing researching truck camper tie downs for our new to us camper, and it is bible school week!
DougM - Have fun, we enjoyed our Hawaii vacation last year, try and get to volcano national park if you can. It is really neat!
Jim F - Continued prayers for healing and the health care providers of your bride
Chief - I liked the shot of your co-pilot. I could not leave the truck door open around my golden retriever, or she would jump in and want to go for a ride!
Time to go.
May God bless
I think maybe summer has finally set in here in the Ol' Pueblo. Still catching up on stuff around the house. Meds seems to be doing ok as I feel much less side affects. No word on the ultrasound. At least no one thinks I'm pregnant:) Talking w/ a friend today who had gall bladder issues and it sounds similar. Why does medical stuff always come in pairs for me?
Sad news about the accident in DC. Wasn't it just last year they had that bad accident in the LA area?
Been reading a book I picked up at the GSNHM last summer. Talking about early British locos ("Planet" design) they give boiler dimensions like 18 x 20 inches. Is that just height and width? Or are the drugs affecting me more than I think?
Doug - sounds like you are having fun in Hawaii. Made it over to Pearl yet? Would like to see the AZ memorial and the Big Mo some day.
I've noticed recently that even though I volunteered on the NNR and worked on some of the full size locos, it's the models that catch people's attention. Interesting.
Brutus - cont'd thoughts and prayers for your wife

Jim,
Check out the USPS web site, they have 4 maybe 5 different flat rate boxes. If it fits it ships.
John,
Never did asparagas on the grill, gas or charcoal, normally use the George F. or the Farberware. Just snap the stalks off, put them in a square pan, drizzle with olive oil, a bit of minced garlic, kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper. Good to go!
Gonna be an early morning, have to be at the museum before 6:30, tv crew will be there at 7 to set-up for a 7:30 broadcast. Have to honk the horn a few times when I leave, make sure the birds are awake.

I love to do ham steaks on a grill .... and veggies . Fish wrapped in foil with a tab of butter .... hickory chips on my charcol grill ... rarely use the gas grill anymore ... no flavor enhancement ... don't like the phoney flavoring addons . Can't beat the real smoke flavor .
Brutus ... yea they do here .... if it's not too heavy . i like priority mail bucu better than fedex or UPS .... fedex always beats up the boxes ... have even got some from them " fedex " with footprints on them ! boxes all crushed and torn ..... .. they suck !
Tardis was great tonight ... RT ... CHARLIE ... BRUTUS .... SJ ..... missed the rest of you guys ... drop by !
Howdy guys. Thanks for all these prayers Wife will have another transfusion tomorrow, numbers getting low again. It's about every 3 weeks or a little less. Class coming on July 8 for transplant stuff and after-care
Electric RR Co shipped my dc commander card today
Any of you guys sell stuff on ebay? Does the PO have like boxes that ship for a certain amount? I seem to remember they had a box you bought to mail something and it always was just like $8, no matter what you put in it? Is that right, or am I crazy (again)?
TARDIS is ready and I see some beacons and porch lights, so better get moving! Fat Tire Beer eh? It was good! All out of that, but have some Sam Adams Ale and Black Lager left as well as Old Mills and rootbeers, lol!
Barry, I've grilled salmon often, but never asparagus. How do you do it? I usually grill the salmon and steam the asparagus. Did you ever do red beats on the grill? We love them also.
blownout cylinderHello-- Got all the running around for work done---had to finish off the garden stuff when I got home then got out the BBQ and done up some grilled asparagus and grilled Salmon. Now I'm kickin' back with a cold one and doing laptop thing out on the deck---- Catch y'all in a bit-----

Afternoon all. Only 4ish here. Got the bride to go hiking today - up to the top of Diamond Head in the blazing sun and then later up a muddy jungle trail to a water-fall in the middle of the rain forest. I think she is ready to kill me. Off to hide at the conference.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
A nice day, middle 80s.
I got the grass cut and did some couching. Also oiled a couple more old engines and ran them a while. All is well today. Sat on the porch and waited for granny to get home from bible school. She is now enjoying the quiet. Banilla is ready for the Tardis ride so off we go....S.J.
Did Town Hall, mowed and sprayed [20 gallons this time]. Picked 4 more tomatoes and gave to neighbor. His is not ready yet. Will pack everything for lake house trip tomorrow. Got a 11:15 Dr's apt and have to fast by midnight. Long fast till blood draw. Got Chamber Expo from 4 till 8 PM, come home, grab the "kids" and drive to the lake. Pam is off to Myrtle Beach at mid afternoon.
Seems they are suppose to have things worked out where trains are not suppose to run into each other. HUMM
Chief of PD's youngest Daughter has Lymes/Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite. Started the big red rash ring around bite. DR. got her on meds and they are messing with her tummy. She should be OK later.
