Pat, prayers for your leg problem. Looks like you are on the mend.
More prayers for Brutus' wife.
Chief, man it must take a lot of water to keep that garden going. I had some store bought yellow squash and onions last night. Yum yum! plus corn on the cob. Went to Von's super market this morning for milk and noticed they were asking $3.00 each for cantaloupe. They must be nuts. Other places asking $1.00 each. Did pick up some wild caught salmon for dinner tonight at a good price.
Weather is heating up here. Expect temps in the 90's next few days. I have to do my train layout things between the time I get up and noon on these days. After that, garage is too hot.
Got an extra TV hooked up to cable yesterday since the converter box we had did'nt do much good. We wanted two more sets hooked up but the guy could'nt do it without drilling some holes through a block wall. He did'nt have drill bits for that so I told him to do just the one. That gives us two for the house on cable and that's enough.
Been watching an internet auction today for a MTH J1 2-10-4 steam engine. Bids are up to $325 at last looks. Buyers fee is 17% plus taxes and shipping. Be interesting to see what it goes for. That engine sold for over $1000. It's proto 2 and has been run.
I'm getting ready to wire up some more switch machines on my layout when the spirit moves me. I'm getting tired of running around to throw them manually. Fixed voltage on my Z4000 is 10 or 14 volts. I think 14 would be enough for Z1000 switch machines on Ross Switches. My others are powered from a higher voltage source.
Watered yard good this morning and plants. Hunkering down this afternoon and staying out of the heat.
Have a good week end y'all

Well it looks like we are into our famous Arizona summers, over 100 regularly for the past week or so. At least the monsoons seem to be starting up. Doing better here, have to walk down to the CVS and get another prepscription filled. Once the blast furnace cools off I need to finally change the oil on the Jeep. Got to drive up to Marana after church tomorrow for a date. Talk about things all happening at once...
Jon - your trip to SD sounded pretty cool. I will miss being up there this summer, but after all that's gone on I think I want to stay around home for a bit.
Pat - Whoah! Some of all that sounds too familiar. I guess we can both be used as marker lights for a bit. Glad to hear things are going better
SJ - the Chrysler Museum sounded neat. I like that they rotate their displays. The air museum here does a bit of that. Everytime I go it's something new.
Just saw a great movie on the history of Pancho Barnes, the woman aviator. Supposed to be on PBS at some point. Will be the edited for television version (she was rather colorful) but worth checking out.
Back to the scope on Monday for a couple days while we pull the subreflector. Probably won't be doing much monkey boy on the scaffolding, but it will be nice to be there. We haven't pulled this for maintenance in some time so it should be interesting. They wouldn't pay to fix the jib crane a few years back after I had it bid. Would have been handy now!

Why does the Chief going to post photos of "matters" ? I looked the word up in my Suthern dictionary and it said it is southern slang for rotten tomatoes. Why do I want to see rotten tomatoes?

Looking in a Suthern cookbook.....They say that "matters ", are great fried with soggy grits. That is a Suthern breakfast food. No wonder....
Good Evening
Farmer Pat, I hope you are doing and feeling better.
Weather was nice today low 80s. Number two son came by this afternoon with steaks so I fired up the grill and he cooked them just right for me. I don't know how they can get them just that way. I am best at burnt offerings. Banilla is ready and butter pecan for those who would like a change. Lite the fuse on the thingy and let's go...S.J.

Doug, have a safe trip back. About now, you are probably well into your flight across the Pacific.Pat, watch that....DVTs can be bad news if they embolize....take your meds and do as instructed.
Brutus, am keeping your bride in my prayers.
Well, went to FIL's for a little celebration along with some dinner. Was fun, but am glad to be home. Upon our return, I found a baby rabbit under my truck in the driveway. As soon as I stepped out of the van, thing took off like a shot. Came around front of house and a very young deer was standing there. It looked like it was just out of spots, with the awkward walk and all.
Tonight, we sit down for dinner at the kitchen table, and this is what was looking at us through the glass:sorry for the poor image quality, but it was getting late and I hand held the camera. Still, it does make for some interesting dining.
God Bless,Dennis

Ohizoians are just helpless except the two Cooks that moved to Roseyville and say they will never move back to Ohizo.
Just a few "little" ones:
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Lucas and I mowed the yard this morning. I went to the YMCA for weights. Came home and took a nap. Wife and I went to New Castle for a birthday party on wife's side of the family. Was supposed to start at 5 PM, but did not eat until 7:30 PM. Last time we do that. I listened to half of IRL race on radio and watched the last half at my Dad's. Good news is that AJ's car finally finished a race...in 14th. Bad news is that Team Red won again. Princess was 5th. Wife and I went to see "The Proposal" Friday night. Good date movie. I had bacon and waffles on the dining car for breakfast. Patrick, sorry to hear of your problems and so I can drive until you are better. Beacon is lit. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning all!
Visiting FiL et al, family. Miles on the headphones (Some Kind of Blue) while the brood sleeps. FiL found a Barbie Power Wheels for the 4-yo. Man is that fast. 2-yo drives it full speed forward until she hits something, then backs up, then full speed forward...
Patrick: Prayers for you, and that leg.
Brutus: Thanks for the lift! Good to see Doug before he left paradise! Continuing in prayers.
Riverboat suprise party tonight for AiL.
We are planning to go to FiL's cabin tomorrow. Found out he has a '31 chevy (wood frame) 2-door, not the coupe, he needs some help on. He tried to get the frame to work, but is having alignment issues with the doors and tins.. Anyone know where I can find plans to line up a frame?
Kurt
Aloha everyone. What time is it? 1 am? 8 am? Back in (sigh) Illinois. Smooth but long flight. Ray, we stayed in the Sheraton Waikiki; a very nice place. Ray, it was a wonderful place to visit - like paradise. Or some sort of movie set. Buckeye, they have lots of civil engineering work in the islands - I'll have to talk to some people. Prayers for Pat, Brutus' bride. I'll look for pictures. Wow, that's a tomato! Kurt, I have a buddy who's restoring a Ford from the 30s, I'll ask him.

I'd be thinking any Auto Restoration place or even trying the dealers in Service Books might have something along those lines----but definitely the Auto Restoration route would do the trick.

We are going to be dribbled on all week if'n one believes the weathertossers. They've got showers/periods of rain/those t'under boomers for us all week.
So this is a lazy day here---
Have a good one--
Morning all
There is only one late Mass today because we are having a going away party for our priest, my mentor, so I slept in since there is not a early Mass. On SPF I started a thread but saw Spanky had stepped up and had posted a SPF one minute before me so I tried to delete the thread but coludn't so I just deleted the content and directed to post on Spanky's start.
DougM - Welcome home!
Cheif - Nice tomatoes, is that wire fence you tie them up on?
Kurt - Do they issue a drivers licence with the barbie car?
This morning during Mass I will offer paryer intentions for:
Pat - Continued prayers for the leg
Jim & Cheif prayers for your brides
Got to go
Good morning
Sunny, not hot but sticky. My day is not planned so I will see what happens. Have a great Sunday...S.J.
Hi GYZ,
62 and nice here this morning. Did laz Camp at 0600 a nice 7 miler down to the river, got a drink of water at the park then ran rest of the way home. Felt great, got to get up at 0430 tomorrow to go up and be Fireman on the Lokie. So laz camp will be an easy 2 miler. Might go for bike ride this afternoon?
CHIEF, nice tomatoes I got green ones thats it, but my bush beans have blossoms on them so mabe in 2 weeks be eating beans?
PAT, prayers for the leg. Watch them clots.
Stay frosty,
laz57
Thanks guys for the support.
Chief - Lovenox shots x-rated? Not exactly, since the shots are given in the stomach muscle (I have plenty of that!). I like your "matters". What I don't like is the fact you are ahead of the rest of us. Dukes Mayo is out first choice for tomato sandwiches.
Dennis - Doing what the Drs. tell me. If I understand deer language, that one wanted to join you for dinner.
Today's Smart Farmer Saying : Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't Bothering you none.

Afternoon all. Sunday School and then watched Church on TV while eating a Hardee's Chicken Biscuit [added a big slice of tomato]. Then reclinerized until now. Hot outside. Going to visit pond and probably sit and "meditate" for a while. Seems good to relax for a change. Yesterday's visit to Miss Edna's was a relaxing visit [no customers but lawyer buddy and he is part of the gang]. Hope all have a safe and happy week. God bless all.
PS: cages are Burpie cages [little expensive but great].
Chief - I havesome cages but they are not large enough, so I endup useing rebar stakes and tie them up also
Just picked and gave some tomato's to our neighbors as were getting tomany for just the 2 of us.
Morning all got up about 8:30 got crock pot pot roast going and made some breakfast ( biscuits and eggs) and when all was good went back to bed about 10 and got up at 12:30 so bet I won't be able to sleep tonight now oh well needed the extra rest feel pretty good now. Might go work on some shelves to display some trains and get them out of there boxes. Will talk to you all later have a good day
Good afternoon everyone. Seems we have a chatty bunch here, which is good. Just need the cliff notes version so I can stay up with things. Had a good morning in that I slept a little later than normal and still got to church in a timely fashion. Church was great as usual. We went to one of our old Sunday school classes and it has grown by leaps and bounds. I guess they had about 150 people in the class, which is larger then some Sunday morning services that I have been to. Caught up with some friends of ours who we have been wanting to take out for lunch/dinner for some time. The guy who played the Lt. in Fireproof and his wife and daughter. The wife is due in the next week to deliver a son and this may be the last chance till their house returns to normal.
Chief, those are some nice matters ya got there. We harvested a couple yesterday and I plan on having some good sandwiches tomorrow. I am on call this week ahead, so I hope to not get beat up too bad.
Patrick, take care of yourself. Also, if you should get on any flights, make sure you get up every so often and walk around to prevent a DVT from ruining your trip.
Jim, let bride know that she is being prayed over and cared about.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Dennis
Chief, thos pretty tomatoes are enough to make a grown man cry.
Doug, welcome home. I thought that place you were staying at sounded like the Sheraton Waikiki. We stayed there the first time I went to Hawaii. It is a beautiful place. You can stand in the lobby and feel the trade winds blowing though from the ocean. We swam both in the ocean and the pool while there. They used to have some night time entertainment beside the pool for guest and a buffet dinner served in a dinning area above the pool. Sounds like you had a great time. That Sheraton is my favorite place to stay on Waikiki.
We stayed in pretty well all day doin things like track laying--
The rain started in the morning and just started to let up about a half hour ago. We had a 2 hour t'under boomer letting loose all over us with hail, monsoon and wind as well---so far the strongest gust I see on the monitor was 95kmh----
I'm out on the deck doing the Salmon on the grill now----gotta take advantage of any time you git----
Have a good evenin'
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Heat and humidity have left for a while. We went to Mass, and I went to the YMCA and did weights. Watched the US almost beat Brazil in the Confederation Cup. Did some edging on the sidewalks and sprayed some more weeds. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. Beacon is lit and I can drive again unless some one else wants to take over. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evenin' boys. Evenin' English. Had a nice 4 hour sail this afternoon, including a few tacks around a Norwegian Cruise Ship. Family had a nice time, and we got real good with our return to the slip this time.
Got my new 6-pack of WESTERN MARYLAND hoppers, as well as a WM TOFC car...all form MTH.
cnw1995 - Welcome back. That stack of work on your desk...yeah, no one took care of it cuz they wuz all jealous...
Lawson Farms - I do trust that you will make a full recovery, Sir. Lovernox...hey ain't that that 2-part lotion that makes things feel all warm & tin-gul-lee...
Evening All
Strange weather, London On. is just a little east of us, they had rain and we had a beautiful summer day. Well one never knows. No breaking news here just enjoyed the day and took a short trip to see # 1 son. Also I did get in a short train run this morning. Banilla is waiting...S.J.
Good evening,
Just checking in to try and catch up. Sounds like Jon is home from his ride & Doug is home from "vacation". The Chief is growing lots of tomatoes & Pat had some health problems but is on the mend. Hope everyone else is doing great.
I'm doing fine, but it was not a good week end as my oldest step sister passed away in her sleep Thursday night. The funeral will be on Wednesday. She has had some health problems, but this was totally unexpected.
Have a great week.
