In our third day of rain, so farm chores are at a minimum until it clears. Had time to cruse the train forums and the CTT magazine.
Read the current issue of CTT cover to cover. Liked the small home office train layout of Scott (no hat) Smith. I don't understand the fuss over Lou Palumbo's article.
Don - I checked out that Other, Other forum and certainly see what you mean. Those guys would rather beat up on others than do anything else. They must not have a moderator, or one of them IS the moderator! What a pleasant contrast here on the Pot.
Chief- Welcome back. So you were raised on a farm. I knew there was a reason our thinking meshes MOST of the time. Minnie Pearl is still around on shows on RFD-TV.
Old Timer - I keep waiting for Donald Duck to loose his hat, or fall into a hole or something.
I went to Buckkeye Rivetor's web site for the first time. Very impressive, especially the Rail History section. And a Garden Railway too?
DougDG - I always enjoy seeing kids and trains. Your Kids Club says it all. I tried to get one of the Bill France Daytona race cars on ebay, but missed.
Fife - A collage kid bullying has parents? And I'll bet they were paying his collage bills. That's gratitude for you.
Brutus - Ready for a Tardis pick up. Doesn't matter what time. The light is on and I am ready.

Pat .... changed donald ... his jumping around drove me nuts ... lol . It was an experiment the other night and forgot to replace him . Years ago I used to run a huge metal brake and had big forearms ... being an old sailor the guys nicknamed me popeye ... gonna stick with him instead . Oh and as far as those guys on that other forum ... let them live in their own little world ... one reason I only go to AMR and MRH and this one instead of that one anyway .
Good Afternoon,
A little soggy down here, maybe not as much rain as anjdevil got but it is plenty, with more on the way, high should be near 90.
Going to try to do some decals on a couple of my smaller trains, re-numbering for more accurate look. Have the day off from work and not much else to do.

ChiefEagles sir james I Howdy All No rain yet but it's coming. No train running today as I am recovering from a sneak attack of my bowel system. Because you don't eat GRITS!!!!!!! S.J. HOWDEEEE! Mighty proud to be here! The price tag is hanging from my new Sunday stray hat. Bet some will not know who I am talking about. Back from the lake house. Great stay. Will hit the road real soon and go back. Mowed grass [wet] before I left as mowed Thursday PM. GROWS too fast. The new hose connection on the John Deere deck works. Hooked up hose and the turned on the blade. Washed out all the wet grass stuck under the deck. Took laptop but country store parking lot was so full I did not get it out and use it. Rex [owner] made a fortune I know. Had to call for a load of gas [boats being filled constantly] and had to drive in to Henderson and get more beer. Unbelievable. Worked Friday and Saturday. Got lots more done. Did take breaks and ride Lucy on golf cart a lot. Sunday, lazied around. Did launch Frankie and wifey on Jet Ski. Had to back truck into the water [was way back up in parking lot] and that was not fun. Yesterday, "tinkered" on wiring on the pontoon boat. Think I have it figured out. Rewire as guy has a mess. Hope to have it ready by end of this weekend. Will only be able to launch when water gets out of praking lot. "Big Sucker" [28 foot with metal sundeck on its top]. Glad to see all the "new guys" sticking with us. Read back several pages. Hope all are well. Pam is doing a lot better. Had a little rash today but think it came from cutting squash. They will get you. Some almost like briars. Brutus, hope Wifey is doong better. Fifey, have not heard of massive ship wrecks so guess the sailing is going good. JIBE HO!!!!! Chat later. God bless all.

I would'nt miss one show of HeeHaw .... either .... am I an old hillbilly ? ....
I used to watch Hee Haw just to see Roy Clark. He was/is my favorite entertainer of all time. The rest of the show was just an added treat. Wonder what hes doing these days? He must be making music somewhere. Steve

Why thank you, Pat. That was a great thing to read after a long day at work. Made my day. Let me tell you a little secret about the website. If you would like to be on the listing where you get an automatic email when I add new items, such as the benchwork section, just send me a private email with your email address. This summer I hope to get some new photos for the history section. I also need to add the video of the Garden RR Circus Train and the Snow Train.

Ole Timer I would'nt miss one show of HeeHaw .... either .... am I an old hillbilly ? ....
Me nether. Do you watch HeeWaw on RFD-TV? You can see two different shows a week, six times a week.
Young or old, being called a "hillbilly" is definitely a complement! It is to me anyway. True hillbillies due eat grits though.

Evening all. About bed time. Was reclinerizing and Lucy woke me up. Big pizza for dinner. Fresh [from Farmer's Market] tomato sandwiches with lettuce [from garden] and bacon [from package] for lunch. Grass mowed, Roundup sprayed [here and pond path], scared up very small [for this late in the season] fawn at pond, pulled seeds out of Pam's flowers, suckered tomato plants, cut squash [bucket full], sprayed roses, garden, grape vines and fruit trees and pulled Town Hall "duty". Later walked the new trail with Lucy and Pam [doing a lot better, and thank you]. Tomorrow is run errands day [get a part for gas range at lake house and parts for pontoon boat].
Now Don Baker, you posted without my permission. You know proper protocal.
RFD-TV is on my Direct-TV ["sorriest" company billing I have ever seen] at lake house. Watch it there and try to catch the train shows. TWC does not carry it. Sent email this morning to Government Relations Rep "fusing him out" over that one thing.

Makes you very careful what you say or you will get a big loaf of Italian bread against your head.
Time take Lucy out for a last "trip" before bed.
Good night all. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite. The redbugs have found me.

Good night Chief!
Tardis is ready, sorry it's so late! Had storms tonight, but also managed to chat with some of the guys. Patrick, you can drive tonight, okay? Mike is still up and I see a couple more like Ole Timer, Charlie, and Ray and Rich and Doug and Dennis and RT (nah - he's snoozing, lol) and SJ (ditto) and too many more to count, lol!
Going to Hannibal MO tomorrow on a field trip with my son, should be fun!
Thanks for all the prayers. Prayers from us for all the guys and gals here and all our families too.
TTFN!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Back on the hill for another week. A lot of rain last week on the mountain apparently and a few outages due to storms. When the commercial power goes down (25 mile buried cable) the 800 KW picks up, well not over the weekend I guess. Fortunately we were largely closed for rain anyway. We finally ferreted out all the computer glitches that cropped up from the complete shutdown. Fairly smooth sailing now though.
Replenished the dremel supplies so more track work this week. I did get the box from Olsen's for the 1664 and was admiring the new full set of valve gear. Wonder if it's NOS or repro's? Looks pretty good. I'm going to put off getting the puller and cups I'll need to finish it until the bank account recovers from the latest batch of MGB parts. Did enjoy the MG photo from the Sunday Photo's. Forget whose it was. Very appropriate for mine when I found it. Otherwise now that the 2 steamers are done for a bit, I brought the Japanese tinplate loco up to open it up finally and see exactly what grandad did all those years ago.
Next week off I will get to see my first train show in a while as the Gadsden Pacific is doing their summer show. Will be the first time I've seen much stuff in a long time as unfortunately the few places that sold O-gauge in the ol' pueblo have all closed up. May have to make an occasional pilgrimage to Roy's in Mesa. There is a girl I like who does live in the area....
Prayers and thoughts for those in need.

Good morning all,
It is rainy and sunny again in SE Indiana. We won the first game of the season last night 4-0! All the training and practicing paid off as I played very well. No goals, but several good passes and offensive and defensive efforts. We had 15 show up and we substituted a lot. A lot of new faces were playing and we meshed well. Could be a good year. I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning before sending it to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning everybody: Damp and gray here in jersey hope the sun comes out later like yesterday. Got the chems. to open the pool yesterday, now need to get somebody over here to help get the cover off and folded. If the breeze kicks up that s.o.b. turns into a 30x50 foot sail. Hope all the mechanics work after being idle for two years.
Chief: I seen you mention your fruit trees a couple times. Any advise on how to fet saw flys outta my plume tree??(and don't say pull them by the ankles) I tried spraying with malethyon at blossom drop last year but did no good. Steve
Mornin' boys. In a FOG in the Mid-Atlantic region today. Lots to do between now and next Saturday's graduation party, and the weather (and maybe the sailboat...) isn't helping matters.
Good morning everyone. Been raining all the time here. One would think we got the weather from across the pond. Have not had a chance to get out on the tractor, besides, it'd tear up the the land as saturated as the ground is.
Been playing with the camera lately. Was a timely purchase as we had a very interesting case the other day. Very rare. All went well and patient should be out in a few days. We are going to write it up for one of the journals and perhaps present at the STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons) meeting this coming year. Now I need to get some scenery done so I can take pictures for SPF.
Speaking of getting some scenery done, I have to get back to work on the railroad. Layout has been idle for too long. Work has kept me away from one of my passions. I also need the break and to do some relaxing. In fact, tonight I will be going for a hot stone massage...never done that before, but bride had given me the gift certificate last father's day and if it is not used, it will expire.
Well, hope that everyone is having a great week.
God Bless,Dennis

Hey guys...
Another day, another rainy afternoon. Had to stow the cat in the office whilst I picked up the Princess from school. Got back to work after that and some shopping for dinner, and let her out for the night. Had to bribe the cat with food to extract her from my office.
Cloudy right now, up to 88F later and another shower on tap. I have to get Doug’s car to the Chief. I forgot, only because the doctor gave me some good drugs to loosen up my back, only thing is that now I’m sleepy. But I feel pretty good.
Nothing on the train front right now, still have to send out the MTH GG1. Have to make a phone call to Lionel for the 0-8-0 later today. Need to do that inventory list.
Other than that, same old grind (for now). Have a confirmation to go to on Saturday afternoon at the cathedral in St. Augustine, hope to feel good enough for a bike ride on Sunday.
See ya later!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Good Morning
Overcast and humid, showers expected.
Home from the Doc's, he seems to think my problem was caused by the medicine he gave me for broncitis. He says the Lomotil he scribed will help me but after three days I am not convinced. I had an early chat last nite with Brutus and ole-timer but had to close. darn missed the other guys. I will spend the day here at home so some choo-choo-n may be ahead.
Another sloppy day here on the farm. Good for the water table and leaves me time to get into trouble with you guys, and to work on the layout.
Ole Timer - seems to me anyone who likes grits should be able to get RFD-TV.

My question is - What did you do with the rest of the morning! You must look like a tornado in action!
Brutus - I will be happy to drive the Tardis tonight. Is this my freebe for knowing about the Green Acres Tractor?
Dennis - Never hear of a hot stone massage. Let us know what that is all about.
RT - I got your phone message. You had the right number. A few on the Pot know this but not all. Here on the farm we are up early and retire early, about 7:00PM EDT to read, watch TV, no phone and no computer. (I may get a laptop to chat on line with you all.)
I am going to start signing off as Pat, rather than Patrick. More people know me as Pat any way.
Remember, the Ole Farmer says "Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a Rain dance."
Pat I agree on the chief .... man those grits must do something for a fellow ... he'd outwork my 2 sons ... LOL ! I'm going to call my cable co. and gripe about no minnie pearl ... waste of time though ... all they have on duty are kids .
RT .... changed the lil thingy at bottom ... gonna leave it there ... .
Great night on the tardis last night ... darn dark - cloudy - day again .... man we're all going to have a prison complexion this year .... although the other day I had 1 arm out the car window ... it's tanned ... other is'nt .... LOL .
Morning. "Fox on the run." Errands and guy who thinks his family can do anything in Rolesville because he is big farmer and been here forever [got to deal with]. Son shooting from highway, no drivers' license or ID on him and shooting in Town Limits [we excuse as he was shooting ground hogs in his field of soybeans]. Officers did felloney stop. He is mad as he got put on ground and handcuffed until all was settled. Then uncuffed and asked questions. Guy called 911, red pickup shooting from highway in to field next to my house. Gave license number and good description. Driver tried to turn in to subdivision to eluded. Now I have to show him videos and let him listen to tapes. He will still cray foul as I have known his temper for years. BUSY today.
I spray weekly with malethyon and captan mix. Called Complete Fruit Tree Spray by Bonide. Available at ACE in small containers and Southern States in larger containers [cheaper per ounce]. Does not take a lot per spray. I have a "pull behind" John Deere 25 gallon sprayer. It has a strong pump and shoots it to the top of apple tree. Peach tree is lower. Good for roses, grape vines, fruit trees and even all garden plants. Also spray bottom 6' of pecan trees [for nut borers].
Later
Weekly??? Thats where I went wrong. I'll try again next year.. Thanks Chief
Chief - I get those complaints from time-to-time. Lets the commander know this ol' dog still hunts. Troops were percectly correct to perform a felony stop, especially when the subjects actions turned fertive. We used to get a poachers list from our game wardens, and a lot of these types were baaaad-patooties. I always take the time afterwords to explain to the perp why he was acted upon in such a manner, and letting him know what his actions could've turned to. Funny, but the perp and parents never seem to mention me doing this when they are wanting their pound of flesh...
Hi guys, I thought I would join in the discussion,
I use the Bonide (like Chief was describing) works well up in New Hampshire for the pests. I also use the dormant oil spray on plants/shrubs it works well to control "scale disease" not the model train scale that I am addicted to. Scale are tiny bugs that destroy my Magnolia bush and other shrubs my wife likes & you know the saying "Happy Wife, Happy Life"
