fifedog kpolak - How come on video you look like such a young chap, and your avatar you look old like me...
I am old like you.
Evening all! Back from birthday dinner for Bride. We met at a friends house. I made Chicken Scallopini, and Creme Brulee, for 8. Friends made salad and pasta. Cooked chicken and sauce here, and warmed at 2nd house. Worked well!
Busy cooking most of the day, so just relaxing now.
Kurt
Mike, congratulations on the W. Hope for another soon.
Bride wants her dining room table back. I have been using it to do some work on some engines and rolling stock. Oh well, guess we have to eat somewhere. I don't have anything scheduled for tomorrow, so perhaps I'll do it then. Rain has been coming down all day. I guess we need it. Had a good night service at church. I was on Camera 2 and we had a concert/plus sermon that ran about 45 minutes over time. It was tough on the old back. Think I'll take some meds and go to bed. Right now, been watching the battle of Stalingrad on Military Channel. A Sniper's war at it's worst/best.

Good evening all,
Kurts not old, sounds like he can cook, I never cared to cook, be eating frozen or fast food if ever left alone. I can make two eggs totally unrecognizable. Got to 55 today and out came everybody that had something noisy, radios, four wheelers, the works.
Well day is done except for some chat time with Brutus and Charlie. I had my banilla but there's more, bring your bowl. Tardis is loading. S.J.

We're watching Kelly's Heroes on dvd - great old movie!
Charlie was in the video, not Kurt, lol!
Was talking to Charlie, but he just logged out. Had a nice talk with Sir James and Charlie today and some with Doug too. Got some work done on the basement. Wet sponge sanded the mud job in the closet area. Let it set an hour and tried to go over with another layer of mud, but it didn't want to stick very well so I quit, figured it was still too damp from the sanding or something. I'll try again one night a little bit after work. Also need to get some replacement glass for a window, another of the old ones broke on its own - microfractures in the glass and not the responsibility of the company, I've been told :(
I'll try and get a little time off at lunch tomorrow and run over to the store for my John Bull
Tardis Time! Mike, we need some more zuchini bread or maybe banana bread?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
BrutusCharlie was in the video, not Kurt, lol!
Yep it was my ugly mug in the video.
Chatted today with SJ and Brutus.. I also spent some time painting some of the hardshell on my layout.
Spring is in the air.... :)

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 50s. "Housewives" was good as usual. Full plate at work today. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning. Beacon is lit. Lucas is out looking for a summer job today. IHEHAGD.
Keep on training,

Sir James .... talk about noisey neighbors .... I have a neighbor who must have telepathy ... every weekend morning I want to sleep in .... he gets his lousey chain saw out at daybreak ! He's retired yet ... has all the time in the world at a descent hour .
Morning all. Sunny and supposed to be pleasant today. Got a good night's sleep - great way to start the work week - Having a few meetings cancelled too - also good. Watched Desp Housewives with the bride last eve. Would've rather run trains but I need to remember it's important to hang out together. Didn't get to photograph the LNE visitor. Maybe tonight. Will definitely find excuses to walk around outside today!

Brent!
Morning all. Charlie, nice picture. I knew I had seen you somewhere. Rainy and rainy. Over two inches. Rolling in pond and rolling out. Dumped a bag of lime in at run in [where two branches come together] and it went right out into the pond. Busy day. Meeting at lunch, 4 PM meeting at Legislature, 6 PM Mayors' Assoc. [free steak] and then home by 10 or so. Ran trains this AM. No accidents [never is]. Good Legacy signal strength with added antenna. Later
BTW: Charlie, Post Office is where I have seen your picture.
Morning all stayed home today as had some minor chest paind off and on last night. Might of been from picking up both the cat liter (25LBs) and the Cat food (17LBS) at one time and putting on shoulder last night might of twisted wrong as feeling better now but woke up a few times last night becasue of it and this morning was still a little sore.
Not much else going on so will talk to you all later

Mornin' boys. Damp and 40 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Back to night work. Should be fun tomorrow... Boy came over with his little one. Ran tanker train (thanks to anjdevil), and found out that a KLine Pennsy caboose with the roof mounted antenna won't slide under viaduct...guess I'll be hearing from the conductor's atty...
rt - Easy does it...
dwiemer - Rent Enemy At The Gate.
kpolak/MichRR - Both good lookin' fellers.
88 ---> (Although I think it's a little early...?)
Good Morning,
Sunny and near 72 again, still no chance of rain today.
Got my computor back from the store, said that a RAM chip was knocked out of place and that was why it would'nt do anything. In my opion don't buy E Machines as it seems to be cheaper in quality than the trash I throw out!
Going for MRI tomorrow morning and to see about getting a new pair of glasses.
Lee F.
Good Morning from still sunny NE FLA!
Still about 69F now up to 78, "supposed" to rain later, yeah sure, whatever....
Saturday was busy at the train store, more stuff going out the door and more repairs being made. I actually am going to try to do a little "side" business for toy train repair, and we'll see how that goes.....
Got a call from a good friend from HFD, found out another HFD guy I know has "retired" in Palm Coast, so spent the day with them. And a nice day it was Kicked the bull around for a while had lunch there and a good time was had by all. Safe to say, I may make a return trip there soon!
Dinner with the Princess's BF was interesting, of course we harassed him (in good fun, of course...) he's an ok kid, I reserve judgement unitl it gets serious...
Repaired a FT today at work (yep, it's slow), put stuff on choo choo this am to get it out the door soon.
Have a great day!
Rich

First thing, find out if he loves GRITS. If he does, let him in. If the doesn't, kick him to the curb. BTW: I have a true Italian lady living here. Made school buses go into their neighborhood and pick up kids instead of on main highway. She has promised to teach me some Italian and cook me some real Italian dishes. Why this Mayor can't lose weight.
Good morning all
Sunny and 50s today. Back from the Dr. appointment, lung c-scan wed. and then follow up next week. He took an xray, thinks it's mu'cus but wants to be sure.
We too have a retiree that does nothing all week and early on sunday mornings through the summer out he comes on his Sears tractor to mow his suburban size lawn.
Well most of this morning is gone already and I'm not sure about the rest of today. Time will tell.
S.J.

Neighbors? What neighbors? One advantage to living on a farm is neighbors are not close. the closest is my son & family who lives on the farm but is 3/4 mile away. And I have some control over their noise.
Ole Timer - Don't you sometimes wish you were back in the mountains?
I am back from the Post Office after depositing the weekend orders. Now for some Grits, maybe with honey on these.
See you later.

Good morning everyone,Another cloudy day here, but little rain. The Chief is getting all of our rain I think. Very dry here for March.Had a bad day yesterday, either a 24 hour bug or something I ate. Much better today.
Have yet to get some pictures of the visiting narrow gauge gondola car. For sure by next Sunday.
Made a cad drawing for the small control panel on my grandson's HO layout. Anyone know of a good cement to attach it to aluminum that will not stain the aluminum? Thought of rubber cement but it may stain the aluminum, not sure.
SJ, I hope all of your health problems are minor.
Hope everyone has a great week.
Well incase I somehow miss it tomorrow Lioneroar88
Patrick never had that distance but sure did have fair distance when growing up as most lots where I lived were 3/4 acre or larger
88- Conventional wisdom would lead one to think that after running a Premier SD40-2, Trainman Hi-Cube, Amtrak Superliner, and AutoRack thru for clearance, but NNNnnnOOOOOooooo...(John Belushi)
Sorry for my absence but I had some major pc issues. Some freeware upgrade turned out not to be free and kept running. Couldn't find it on the Task Manager to shut it off. Son did something to turn it off, and now I am back in action.
Kurt.....happy wifey B-Day. What did she buy you?
Brent.....can't figure out why all of these stellar women are so good to us. Happy B-day even if it is tomorrow. 59 is it? Susan must like older men.
RT.....slow down, brother. Teach the dog and the cat to carry their own supplies into the house.
Charlie, SJ, and Kurt......you guys did a credible job hiding the brewskies while playing trains and videotaping Friday night. Laz is proud of you.
Dennis.....Church sounds hazardous!
SirJames.....hope the Doc gets you straightened out. With all of that grits talk, the body's natural defense mechanisms must have cut in.
Patrick...... 3/4 of a mile is still too close for the kids to live.
Rich..... and the BF got out alive without any mental disorders? Good for you. Fife's BF encounters much more terrifying for the victim, and they don't come back!
JohnF.....get well!
DougM......what animal is sealed up in the wall this week?
Brutus.....sounds like you are building a mud hut in the basement, not putiing up walls.
Chief.....is it time to place my order for tomatoes? If you need an Assistant Town Mismanager, lots of us qualify because we can understand half of what you write, about a quarter of what you say, and 10% of what you mean. I figure that gives us the inside track communications-wise.
Later, gang.
Jack

RockIsland - Yeah. Why is that
sir james I Good morning all Sunny and 50s today. Back from the Dr. appointment, lung c-scan wed. and then follow up next week. He took an xray, thinks it's mu'cus but wants to be sure. They ran a tube down my throat by way of my nose. Then went down and took a sample. Found out I had a rare bacteria in my lungs. Easy to cure once they found out what it was. We too have a retiree that does nothing all week and early on sunday mornings through the summer out he comes on his Sears tractor to mow his suburban size lawn. Did not know you all had grass that far Nawth. All he is doing is helping you get up in time for Early Church. Well most of this morning is gone already and I'm not sure about the rest of today. fifedog RockIsland - Yeah. Why is that
Rich/Fife.......Back when you guys were a twinkle in someone's eye, I picked up my girlfriend early one evening and gave our itinerary to her Mom. Mom was off to visit her mother for the weekend and forgot to tell Dad. Dad came home from work unaware of anything, met me at the door at midnight with a most unpleasant look on his face, grabbed his daughter, then slammed the door in my face. (The days before cell phones ).
The next morning I called the house and got the girlfriend, insisted she put Dad on the phone. Then I apologized to him for the miscommunication and told him I was mortified about his consternation. He apologized for not giving me a chance to explain the night before, and in his fury he also hadn't given his daughter a chance to explain either. I told him I should know better than to make any assumptions. I asked for his work phone number so I could run stuff by him first. That was also back in the day when folks used to actually answer their telephones.
The father and I became closer as a result, and he mellowed, at least with me......he downshifted from his shotgun to a Louisville Slugger and some brass knuckles.
I have one daughter and only one daughter. Always insisted on meeting the boys, EVERY time. Curbside pickup was unacceptable. A brief chat to go back over game plan and expectations was the order of the day. When daughter saw how painless this could all be and actually liked being treated with respect, things went smoothly. I didn't give a rat's bowl of grits what other parents or girls tolerated or expected. Out of sight is not out of mind for a parent.

Boy what some of you dads go thru don't blame you but it makes me glad sometimes I never had any. I miss the joy they can bring but don't miss the worry they can bring also.
Well had a relaxing day well rested for tomorrow.
I only give them a hint of what an Italian father MIGHT do. I don't play, as they say. I just give them the idea that there may be weapons involved (or cement and wash tubs..)
FIFE, on the other hand has that double 0 classification, license to carry and kill....
Either way they fear me a bit, and respect me alot. And that goes a long way to them understanding my position on the rules and regs, so to speak.
My daughter had dinner at his house last week and he had his arm around her and I joking said in a stern voice, "get your hands off my daughter". A quick yes sir and a snap to attention and it was all good. Of course, he didn't know it was a joke.....
Oh, yeah, that drive by thing dosen't hold water, either....and if I don't know 'em she don't go. I get license plate numbers, names, addresses & home & cell numbers....and if they are late...whooo boooy!
