Chief....You tell your Momma that Buckeye is praying for her.

Doug.....No, I don't get to use a TelePrompter.  That is for sissies.  Good idea, Scotts.

Brent......Tell Susieq, that I'll miss seeing her at York this spring, but I'll bring flowers and candy the next time.

Doug.....If you had supper with your brother and you work downtown Chicago, what great restaurant did you have the pleasure of dining?

Laz.....Only three miles!!!  Several of us are counting on you and you only go out and run three miles.  GET WITH IT !!!

WES......I need Jon's car.   Where are you guy lunch?  The Refectory is nice this time of the year.

88 - Both the men and women are in the tourney this year.  I'm having fun wearing the gold and black.

Glad everyone liked the Williams Monon BL2.  When I was a kid in Indiana, the Monon and the Wabash were two major railroads.  I rode the Wabash Cannonball home from college.  A ticket cost less than five bucks.  I know of a Monon museum, but I don't know of a Wabash museum.

Well another busy day tomorrow in Buckeyeland and a big hockey game tomorrow night with Calgary.

Chief, I thought he was referring to the movie "3:10 to Yuma".  OK I get it, the train happens at 3:10.  The original movie starred Glen Ford I believe.  Did'nt they do a remake on it recently?

Chief, God bless your mom.  How wonderful that she has attained the age of 92.  Prayers that she will have many more birthdays.

Dougdagrump, I heard the same thing, that 3751 will run to San Diego again.  I forget the dates but it's probably on the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society website.

Chief:  Prayers for your mom.

Kpolak: My possible trip to Michigan will take me to Lansing, and just outside of Ann Arbor.  As plans develop, I'll let you know.

The plant was full of Muckie-Mucks from corporate and the other plants today.  I didn't get drafted to attend any of the meetings or give a presentation - just broke my heart :) Then at the end of the day, one of our problem child type parts started to act up again, for no apparrent reason.  Stayed late, lining up process improvements, testing and preparing data for the invitable 'how did this happen' questions.  Tomorrow ought to be fun.

Supported the local Dodge dealer with a wad 'o' cash on the wife's van - oil change, new fan belt, new seal in the steering rack, and 1/2 lf od refridgerant in the A/C.

Sunny, fifties, and supposed to start raining again tomorrow.

Not much else.  Later y'all.

Good Evening all

Chief, I hope your mom does well. Two of my mothers sisters are in their ninety's and I don't know how they just keep on. Maybe because they are Ky. girls, I don't know. Of course they did move north.

Well Charlie is coming by tomorrow with his son so I was trying to decide what the little guy would like. Charlie said he likes diesels so we will start there. We had a wet/dry day that touched sixty for about that many seconds. Banilla is ready for the Thingy so I will wait...S.J.

8ntruck - let me know when you'll be coming through, maybe we can hook up for a soda someplace?  Generally, the family takes Amtrak when we go to KC, but usually in November we drive?

Kurt - that wasn't you on the TARDIS last night?  Then who....  Wink

Fife - yep, wore my old tennis shoes, lol!  I did think of that!

JimSP - good news on the kids and great advice sir, God bless you and your family.

Chief - prayers for your Mom!

Doug - hope you had a great family visit/meal!

Mike - pain pills means no driving, let alone elevated foot requirements!  S'alright, I've been enjoying getting back in the captain's chair Laugh

Rich - you need to move to Missouri, somewhere near St. Louis, and get a basement!!!  [J]

88 - Congrats to Suzie if she's letter people know now?  Sounds like a big haul on the buildings, you'll probably be done with your layout before I'm done with my basement at this rate Whistling

I pressure washed the floors in the Tardis and they are not sticky any more, but I'm not waxing them!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

They eat grits.

Thanks guys for the prayers.  Worked.  Mom was fine when I got to hospital.  Actually she is better off for her age than I am.  Coughing.  Pam drove.  She said she can feel the heat through my shirt.  Loaded up with codiene and Tylenol.  Lady that looks after her will take her home tomorrow.  She got excitied and her heart rate went up.  They gave her a shot and transported her.  She was wanting to go home by the time I got there.  We told Dr. to let her stay over night to be sure.  Dr. agreed.  They all want to put her in a rest home.  Yvonne [lady who looks after her] told Dr. she die in a week or two if we did that.  She still keeps saying she is ready to go.   Been resting since I got home.  Sleep tight and again, Thanks

Late evening all!

Chief - more prayers for your mother. Hope she continues to improve - you too!

Enjoyed Buckeye's video but you need a little grease on that reefer!

Still overly busy here. The office environment has become somewhat toxic and I do not think they truely understand how to cure it.

Our club is setting up the modular layout for the local Day Out With Thomas event in Grapevine, TX, for this coming weekend and the next. Should be fun and lots o'kids.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Chief,  Glad to hear you Mom is doing well !  That is really great news !  Hope you get to feeling better soon.  Kay's Dr visit really paid off.  She's recoverying fast.

Roy, Glad to hear from you.  One question, what are your plans  for when you retire?  Just curious.

Ray,  I think I WILL be able to make it to Arcadia on Saturday, plans changed somewhat.  Looking forward to it.  What time are you typically there?

Lots more to talk on but running late, and have some studying to do.  So have a great day, will be waiting for the Tardis,  and hope everyone stays healthy and has a great day. !!!

Good Mornin, Ya'll,

Ray, DougDG, and DonB seem to have handily managed to avoid my wife who is still in Santa Banana on business.  Told her they would take her shopping to her hearts content.  Got off the phone with her earlier and she said she's going to hunt them down.

Chief.....prayers for your Mom's continued recovery.  She probably read some of the nasty things you posted in the Pot about Nawtheners which got her cranked up.  Glad she checked out ok and will be going home so soon.  BTW.....don't give her any of your diseases.

Re "Jack being busy....."  DougM and I have been bachelors this week and have been hitting all the night spots in Chicago.  He's a party animal.  Thanks to Brutus, I got to Chicago safely.....have to compliment him on the clean up job he did on the Tardis' floor, but he went too far with the going back in time thing.  Doug and I looked ridiculous on Rush Street, dressed in polyester leisure suits, platform shoes, with long hair and sideburns.  Doug's dancing put John Travolta to shame, but he split his pants performing the splits.

SJ......chasing nurses again?

Ole Timer......you think central MD is cold?  On a relative basis, I'd consider it a tropical paradise.  Have to agree with Rich: I'd take a pass on the FLA hurricane season, no basements, the bugs, alligators, snakes, and the sweltering summers.

MikeC.....if you put your toenail under the pillow at night, does the toenail fairy bring you some trains?

Brent.....corporate slavery life interfering with one's personal life?  Say it isn't so!  Cheer up.  They'll probably cut staff next week and fold another job into yours.  The person laid off will be passing on an undocumented system to you to boot.

Is Wes still MIA?

Glad to hear Roy hooked up with Time Warner.  That will give us the last piece in the connectivity and communication puzzle where we will all conclude that there is NO provider that does anything except charge more for declining service levels.

Later, gang.

Morning all!

Buckeye:  I did get email from Wes that he received Don's boxcar.  So he's out there...somewhere.

Chief:  Glad Mom's ok!

Ran Derailing trains yesterday burned up a box of fuses.  I was ready to take up knitting.  Trying to do too many other things, while running the trains.  The post war were doing great.  Trouble when I switched to the modern engines.  Fife:  Fear not kitty stayed on the tracks just fine, anti-grits agent still intact!

Mornin' Fellas

Brutus - I didn't get the part about Susie-Q and letters???

Isn't Wes preparing for his big move?

BIG and I do mean BIG box arrived yesterday. Contents will make the residents of my small scale Bal'more very happy in the coming months... lots of businesses with some appartment living on the upper floors! Thumbs Up So when the Bank, Pet Store, and I think one other building come in the next few months we'll have a triving town! Big Smile Been thinking of a way to make a really nice theater... Let me know if you follow the this:

1. Buy 4 Lionelville 3 story buildings (I'm thinking 2 O'Grady's Taverns and 2 Jim's Five and Dimes).
2. Remove the second floor from 2 the tavern buildings and insert them into the Five and Dime buildings, resulting in 2 2 story buildings and 2 4 story buildings.
3. The 2 story buildings will become regular town structures - maybe a police station.

Theater
1. Remove the first floor from each building
2. Using the 'chopped corners' create a recessed area in the middle of the adjoining area
3. Create a 'ticket window' to span the joint
4. Remove the walls sections that seperate them
5. Join the two buildings
6. Using the removed walls, fill in the windows on the front of new structure above the recessed area (may not be necessary)
7. File down the 'floor seperators' on the front of the building above the recessed area
8. Using some sheet styrene create a panel above the recessed area
9. Cover the window areas
10. Spray paint the entire structure brick red
11. Dry brush the structure flat tan and wipe off to reveal the mortar lines
12. Paint the panel above the recessed area cement color
13. Install Miller Electronic's Theater Marquee
14. Detail as necessary.

IMHO this is a project that could be done on a weekend, maybe Friday - Sunday as the structures are pretty much already there for you and ready to go. Just some cutting and sanding to get everything to match up, and then the painting. The sheet styrene and the ticket window will cover the joint upfront and the back isn't much of a concern as it will be hidden by the Domino Sugar plant, of course it won't look like a hack job either. Just need to get some of that acrylic filler they use in nail studios to fill in any rough spots... the question would be the roof - what to do with it so it appears to be one solid roof and not a roof with a split down the middle?

When I looked inside one of the buildings it appeared that the floors were able to be seperated as there are screws in the corners - does any one know for certain?

Nonprofit status is becoming a more common path for historic businesses, like the Senator, to compete in a tough economy. The theater has struggled financially for years.

Is this the look you're going for, B?

Perhaps the Dept 56 #5142 "Paramount" or #58913 "Majestic" might fit the bill; or Hallmark's "Palace Theatre" from its Hometown America series?

Fife - Kind of... That looks more like a building that was built to be a theater. What I'm trying to simulate is a movie theater where they bought two buildings and renovated them into one to make a theater.  I could use that pic to get the 'cement center section' look, which I think would be pretty impressive. I have the Theater Marquee, so I really want to use that.

The Dept 56 Theaters I don't think will look right with what I'm trying to go for. The Hallmark theater won't look right either, but their ticket booth is what I'm trying to do something similiar with my theater (how the entrance is recessed into the building, with the ticket counter out into the recessed space with the doors on either side).

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a wet 52 degrees. Rain all day and going up to only 55.  Yuk.

Today is a busy day. Lots of things to do around the house. I might as well get them done before we have nice weather. Love to be outside.

Train room is shaping up. Did some cleaning and such. I have to paint one wall, yet and put up some new posters. Should look nice.

Dining car was here for breakfast. Had the usual.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Afternoon.  The CTT and Trains would not come up when I got back from CPA.  Got taxes done and can't sit down for a while. ShockAngryBanged Head  Now at Town Hall for a few.  Then headed to Raleigh to drop off truck at Sears for a set of Michelin tires [they have a sale on them and buddy is now Automotive Dept Manager].  Pam picking me up and taking me to Dr.  Seems the Yanks have punched the voodoo doll with all grades of things and I have to go in and get meds to stop coughing.  Raining right along.  Later

Guys,

I don't think my car is in any danger.  I got an email from Wes saying he was so bummed out on the cold weather, he was taking my car down to a siding near the main line.  And since it has "Hollywood" on the side that some west bound freight would pick it up and bring him out west.  Told him to go ahead and give it a try.  Havn't heard anymore, maybe he is in Florida.

 Hello all:

Raining today, all day. Great for two reasons. One The pastures need it, and Two less farm chores means more train layout time.

Chief - I couldn't get on to CTT either this AM. My problem was with Firefox. Wouldn't let me go anywhere.

Doug - You look great in that light blue suit.

Train room is a calling.

Glad the site is back in the swing of things.
Chief, hope you are feeling better.  We have been experiencing that ran that dropped snow elsewhere.  That's OK as we really need it.

Been real busy lately and ended up having some tests done yesterday....kind they give you good medicine to go to sleep with.  Couple of things to deal with, but will get to them later when some biopsies are back.

For our friends with affections for the C & O, there is a nice K-Line passenger set on ChooChoo Auctions.  I had thought about it.  If I knew it was TMCC, I'd buy it, but probably better to save my coins for York.

Got some planning to do on our cruise and just made reservations for Hilton Head for a meeting in June.

God Bless,
Dennis

Dennis, I believe they are the same engines that I have in B&O livery, except mine had been upgraded to TMCC by the previous owner. All units are powered so they aren't bad as a puller. However I am not a fan of the K-Line tethers, the motors are horizontally mounted in the trucks and they tend to be a bit growly. Not sure but in conventional operation they may tend to be a bit of a jack-rabbit, no offense to Jack.

Couldn't find the C&O but did find my B&O, take a look at the link:

Chief, You never know about them older Southern Belles, my wifes grandmother went to a nursing home at 96 which required she give up her corn-cob pipe. Bad for your health, blah, blah, blah. Well she pitched such a fit that they gave it back, she lived to 104. I guess a Ky Hillbilly could qualify as a Southern Belle. Approve
