It is cloudy and warmer today in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours with some fellow TCAers at an open house nearby. The host is a friend of mine for several years and has built quite a layout so far with more still to do. Last night worked out at the YMCA with Lucas and we scrimaged a little. He beat me on speed, but I did ok. Watched "Dollhouse" and "Numb3rs". Going to see the "The Watchmen" tonight. Greensburg won the first round of the regional and play tonight to see if they go to semi-state. They have already beaten the number 3 and the number 9 teams in the state so anything is possible. Beacon is lit. I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning for breakfast. IHEHAGD.

Howdy guys - well, back from the overnight school trip to KC. The new air mattress worked great and really made the cement floor of the KC Science Center a lot more comfy. Unfortunately, having a hundred kids all spread out in little groups created a sort of seagull effect - every time the whispering would turn to talking and shenanigans, then some teacher would squelch it (or another adult?) and it would break out someplace else. I think the sound died down around 3 AM or so and so did get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Son and I were both exhausted today on the bus ride home. The highlight of the trip was seeing the Steamship Arabia museum, which was very neat. They salvaged the boilers and a lot of the engine and machinery, which was neat. They also salvaged about 200 tons of cargo including all kinds of tools, plateware, etc. Just really neat!
Kurt, Sir James, Charlie - you guys have too much fun, I need to get up there one of these days to run some of those trains and see the amazing B&O/Cab1 car in person!
Lots of posts and really too much to comment upon, but I read it all, lol!

Evenin' boys. Raining and 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Littlest princess helped me with scenery this afternoon, and I finally finished the area around Emmanual Episcopal and the line leading under the city of Cumberland. Clump foliage cures a lot of little sore spots, so I've discovered. Even patched a couple bare spots on the original portion of the layout. On a roll...
Looks like a good time was had by the 1st Michigan Division. Always fun to see pics of your get togethers.
Good evening everyone. Wife is working tonight and so I am watching the kids on my own. Son got his painting framed along with a savings bond. Did well and it was a good bit of fun as it was lots of things for the kids to do. We then took the kids to one of their favorite places to eat.
Really starting to get the York fever....that urge to just get everything you ever wanted with total lack of discipline. I have read about it, but I think this year I am actually going to have to deal with it. Trying to whittle my list down and be a good boy.
Dog is outside going nuts after the deer. We had 11 in the yard the other morning. May need to get Laz down here to take care of 'em. Of course it would be a treat for him to actually see them...just kidding, he sees plenty of deer, just not during the season.

Dennis, The thing about York is that you will see a lot of things that take your eye that are not on your list, so take lots of MONEY.

Don't know how you guys can stand that musty grits scent over here! The other pot has Irish Coffee already, Banilla puddin, Oysters, and lots other things going on. (The site is really (hic) fast tooo.)

Ugh, those grits, whew! (Strange, also noticed that since Grits have been banned on Pot 4, it is lot faster, so I'm thinking Grits is whats gummin up the works! It makes sense, you notice how most of them grits eaters talk real s-l-o-w ? Grits just comes in and gums up everything.)

Never have figured out this phone - used it as my camera and had to copy pics from camera/device to storage chip to make more room - now I can't download them? Mornin' boys. Gloomy weather-wise here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Guess I'll get back to work on the layout. My step-son is bringing over his little boy later on, so I'll break out his daddy's steamer to stretch its legs.
dbaker - Glad AAA worked for you. Gotta tellya though, in my 24 years on patrol, I've seen countless times where AAA leaves folks stranded for hours...and during bad weather forget it.

It is a cloudy 36 degrees. Going up to 5 today with some sunshine. Hopefully.
Today is an easy day. No Nascar races. No baseball. I have a few things to do and then, I will relax. Maybe in the train room. I spent a few hours running trains, yesterday. Had a good time. Did some dusting.
Dining car was here for breakfast and then it departed for " Points West".

A sunny day going towards 60, don't know if it will but thats what we've been told.
Sorry about all the coverups in the pictures, the basement does have a tile ceiling which helps keep things clean but it just helps all the more to cover things up. And yes that was the intended place for that station.

Your layout is looking good. One suggestion, if its not to late, drill lots of holes in the interior 2"X4"s for running wires. Makes it a lot easier.
My layout base is a lot like yours. I put a layer of 2" blue foam on top and painted it an earth color. Helps deaden the noise and makes it easy to make holes for trees, grass, fence posts, Etc.
Just a suggestion or two. Patrick

afternoon all you grit eaters. hows it going. fine here in S.C. just got up about hour or so ago. slept in. Not to much going on here bought 4 plasticville buildings last night on bay of E from one guy up in N.J. got a church, a barn, a passenger station, and a gas station. I already have new in box ( bought about 4 years ago ) 3 mobile homes with flag and pole. Guess I need to get some paint and glue as to customize these to my likings for my layout when it comes time. can always paint and then assemble when layout is being built.
Hey patrick I don't think the 2" blue foam would work with me as I figure there will be times I need to craw across my layout and I might squish it in places as I go across. but guess I'll be looking into this homosite the chief talks about. I'm also thinking of getting some foam and cut it to with of track and different thickness for the track to travel on and to elevate it as it goes up on to top of the small mountain I hope to have.

Yes I was planing on drilling holes in the 2x4's for bus wires, also will be adding under the layout lighting as well.
Afternoon all. The smarties on #4 will be crying when it gets locked down. Raining and cold and raining and raining. Went to SS and then watched Church on TV. Then a Gene Autry movie came on. Went and watered greenhouse with Miracle Grow water. Got lots of tomatoes and squash plants up. Got three squash plants about to bloom along with a 2' tall tomato plant [started early]. Now to go upstairs and run trains. Got a K-Line die cast hopper in the mail. Looks like the others I have. Might get stuck here. Have a great day. Later

Afternoon all. Great chatting briefly with RT, Sir James and Brutus last eve. Was at a party for one of the bride's friends where I knew few people. Full morning on camera at church. Recruited a few guys to help in some spots. Battled through homework. Now to enjoy the rest of this pleasant afternoon!

Why I used Soundstop. Can walk on and yet deadens the sound. Also cheaper. Here, 2" foam in big sheets has to be purchased from a special builiding supply as Lowes and Home Depot do not carry it that think. Not that cold here so no one buys it except contractors. BTW: It was used on our new SECU building. Not as insulation but as a sound proofing.
Kurt, I really was hoping for the lamp...but it was not to be Wife and I were kidding about it on the way over to the ceremony. Son was asking all kinds of questions to which we danced around with the answer.
John, I have heard that about York. Have been told, if you see something you want, work your best deal and buy it. Don't expect to come back later...it won't be there.
Wife is currently watching the Disney Cruise DVD that our agent sent. She is working on our itinerary....I just furnish the $$$, she will take care of the rest. Glad York will be before the cruise.
Well, call starts in the morning and then it is back to the grind. With any luck we'll get some early days that will allow for some train time.
Doug, I am not scheduled for anything today, but we have Peter Sanchez and Impact here. They did the morning service, but tonight is to be more of a concert, so I was asked to work camera for that. Should be good, they are very talented.

A beautiful day here - hanging with the youngest whilst the teens and bride are at church. Brutus, I think we have another few weeks to go on the house - the bride has her dining room back. I'm hoping for the kid's bathroom by the end of this week and then there's the carpet...

IIABSDISEI with the temps near 60. Greensburg won the regional for the first time in 25 years. Play Princeton next week for berth in state finals. Enjoyed "The Watchmen" last night. Dennis, definitely NOT like any movie your group would do, but it had some good messages as well. Not your typical comic book movie. Today after mass, Lucas and I went to the YMCA and did weights. Also did some soccer. At one point, we had a three on three game going. That was fun. Came home and ran the 384E upstairs. Ran for almost two hours with no pileups. Going to watch "Housewives" tonight. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning. IHEHAGD. Beacon is lit.
