Today we will hook up the outside lights for Christmass. We also plan on making a trip to Lowes and Micheals for their sales on display items. Micheals has Lemax at % off and then anoather % off the entire store. Have to check it out!

Well I survived the Holiday. Last evening was a challenge! I had the job of keeping track of the 3, 5 & 7 year old girls while the adults and older boys played dominos for a couple of hours. The kids keep telling me "that is what grandpas are for" Those girls are just like a bunch of energizer bunnies. Of course it didn't help that every time the Christmas train made a lap they had to have another piece of chocolate candy. One big sugar high.
Taking Jean to our local jewelers open house tonight to pick out her Christmas present. Here is where she makes up for all my train purchases over the year. Luckily she doesn't have a clue how much I actually spend.
Hope John gets back on line shortly.

Big 10-4 on that. I just got back from buying the diamond ring Pam wanted. Nice big stone in the middle and one small one on each side. Morning. Started out cool. Now so hot you can NOT wear a jacket. Shirt sleeve weather. Got all the trim painted [doors and windows included] last night. Up till midnight. Now, it has to have a second coat [had ivory trim before]. Dries fast so hope to hang blinds right behind the painting [will re-do windows first]. Went to Lowe's and got big Rubbermaid type tubs for $4 each. Will pack all those cars in the middle of the track in those [wrapped in bubble wrap]. Then Pam will use the tubs to re-store her decorations after Chirstmas and I will have room for the rolling stock on layout [I hope]. Tubs will go under layout.

Great day yesterday. Just our immediate family this year. Lots o' turkey and then homemade pumpkin and chocolate pies.
Watching my alma mater Texas A&M vs Texas. Amazing how well they are doing so far. Stopping Texas at the goal line on their opening drive was impressive.
Did any of you see the new Nissan commercial where the various school icons are chasing the pickup and part way through a giant boulder comes down. If you look the boulder is a giant Buckeye for you OSU fans! Cool!

I will be interested to hear what problems you have with IE7. I prevented the upgrade as I had heard others like Buckeye had problems, but no one caught my post a couple of days ago to see if things were any better or not.

Got mine today as well. Yes it is early, not even December yet. Maybe they get tired of the complaints about late delivery. Haven't looked at it yet. I also got a Scenic Express catalog in todays mail.
It is a good thing I didn't go to Barry's today. The UPS guy dropped of a package from Bob Thatcher, a 4 pack of Atlas Lackawanna reefers that I ordered back on the 3rd of May. I keep a list but hadn't looked at it for a while, so forgot they were coming. It said November delivery so they were on time.
Jim, someone posted some pointers on IE7 a week or so ago. You need to change some settings to make it work correctly. Don't remember the details. I have been saying no when I get the upgrade notification.
Chief, We are back from the jewelers. Jean is happy, I am not in to much pain, so it was a good evening. She is aware of two items that were purchased but I slipped one by her that the owner put aside instead of putting back in the case. I think she will be surprised.
To be nice weather tomorrow. I may finish up winterizing the pond tomorrow, or at least make a good start on it. This is a really unusual fall. Still have geraniums and roses blooming.

It is dark and mild in SE Indiana as the temps were in the 60s today. I worked my tail off today. I got the housework done, washed and waxed the truck and the PT Cruiser, went to the YMCA, cleaned up several of my stacks of items that I tend to let accumulate in the house, and did some errands as well. I am tired. "Close to Home" and "NUMB3RS" are both on tonight. I like "Close to Home" because it is based in INDIANA, which if it is not God's country, it should be. Lucas is over at his girlfriend's grandparent's place, meeting her dad's side of the family. It sure was a beautiful day, weather-wise here today. I hope everyone had a good day.

Great OTTS meeting last night for those who missed it. Next OTTS meeting is Dec 8 at Charlie's layout. Ed is planning a Chirstmas party on Dec 15. Make plans to attend this one!
Today we are heading up to the museum to finish the Christmas 'O' gauge layout. Hopefully we will post pics of it tomorrow on Sunday Photo Fun.

Morning all, Jim I hope that ear problems better. We had an interesting Thanksgiving at which Asherah was a very well behaved star of the show (her parents, as usual, were the opposite...) she made a Turkey center piece and napkin rings and sang and danced too. Not bad for a 4 yr old! It was a happy time for me because my wife's mother, aunt and uncle - they're all Jewish - attended and not only hadn't HAD a proper Thanksgiving before but said it was the best time they could remember. We all sang songs and told stories I havent enjoyed myself so much since I was a kid when that was the normal behaviour at gatherings, before TV ruled the roost.
Amongst the stories I told was of how magnificent model railway control systems used to be, does anyone elese remember vast control panels with the whole layout painted in white lines on a black fascia with knobs and switches thereon to control turnouts, signals, uncouplers and so forth? The best I ever saw was a cousins whose dad had it professionally built, it even had proper rodding running along the tracks to the turnouts and back to a sale signal box with a real working lever frame with full interlocks! The control console was in a U shape, you sat in the middle of it and the sight of all those glowing indicators and the hum and buzz of relays - this was in the late 50's - made the console more interesting than the trains.
It was a Marklin stud contact HO layout running Marklin and Trix which allowed two locos to be under independent control on any given block, all the turnouts had lanterns that turned when the blades changed position and the signals were linked to it properly too. You could uncouple a loco from a train anywhere remotely and do really intricate shunting without needing to touch anything by hand. I've never forgotten that layout and always wanted to emulate that Star Trek like control console.
I can never remember exactly who said what, where, so dont be offended if I havent remembered to ask after you, I hope all your concerns are being met and I hope you too all had a holiday worth giving thanks for. Reading this forum which is by far the best, one is constantly reminded how fortunate we all are to share this great hobby and have a group of people to exchange and share it with. I'm off to TrainLand - yippee!

It is a cold 27 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 60 today with sunshine. I could get used to this kind of weather. Yesterday, was up to 70.
Today, I have a few things to do around the house. I may run out to the local store for a few things. Maybe shopping traffic will be lighter. Got all the trees decorated outside and tried them out last night. Look great.
I may run trains for awhile, this afternoon. Need to keep working on the layout. I want to start the roads and town.
Well, off to the Dining Car for breakfast.

Cloudy here and supposed to hit 70. Off in a bit to daughter's HS playoff game today. Second round. They are facing a tough team with a long history of winning in playoffs. We lost to them last year so this may be it again this year.
Don - great that you are moving with your layout. Let's see - you have built an addition to your house and now you have some benchwork up and where is the Chief on this????????
